How come every time I download a file within my browser it saves it to the internal storage, is there a way to have it set to the SD card? I set my pictures do the same but for some reason before flashing the new SFB it would save to internal. As far as apps as well, since data is saved like notes on the SD it is now saved on the internal ? ?
Set your storage location to SDCard in the settings.

I did but every app folder gets saved on the internal, your talking about where it says Windows Media Sync and you choose SD CARD ? because I did that already before and everything gets sent to the internal card
If you go into setting for Pictures, Videos, or music, each has a storage location. I have not checked the others (Kindle, ect)

When taking photos & video - there is no consistency with where the images are stored - some store on the SD and some on the phone. Is there a setting somewhere that I can set to always default to saveing on the SD card? I haev looked but cannot find such a feature. Just makes it a pain when I have to go searching for a pic I have taken.

I am new to hd2 and I have the same issue. In my TP2, I had used advanced config to select my pictures vs DCIM in the camera setting and then in locations, I had selected storage card\my documents for my doc storage and never had a problem.
With the HD2, there is an extra setting available in the camera apps to select storage, either phone or sd card. If I pick card, it sends pics to the DCIM. If I select phone storage, it puts them in the my docs on the phone.
I just want them to go to my pics under my docs on the storage card.
Ideas?
if you cant put apps and save pics and it doesnt function like a normal android device sd card
care to answer?
More storage space? a lot of programs let you set the storage location, which you can change to the external.
also great for media like music and movies since it's removable. Works just like any sd card i've ever used in a phone. Just a different directory name.
you are wrong when you save you cannot save pictrures to it and that it does not fucntion like a normal android sd card. Of course you can save music, video, and pictures to the external sd card. it functions just like any other sd card. if you phone happens to die, you can remove the sdcard and still retreive those media files. if you keep everything on the internal sd card, if your phone dies, how do you expect to retrieve those files?
extremely useful.
it does not let me use my sd storage says no storage is there when i unmount my internal Sd how do you guys have it setup. my sd is under sd ext in astro whan i take a pic it says cannot save to sd its probably mounted wrong but it still saves the pic to the external sd but really its annoying and it does not function properly
it does not let me move to SD card just to MEDIA which is still the internal so....
Did you make sure the sd card is formatted correctly? Also with an app you can move some appz to the sd card I believe. also you can 100% back up your contacts as vcards on the sd card which I think is pretty nifty

Try to use sdtools and use the external and tell me what it does

This phone has 16gb internal plus whatever size your sd card is. When I set mine up I formated the card and pushed my music to what the phone calls the media area. The music ended up on the phone internal memory and all apps only have the option to go to the media area in app manager. So I just manually moved the music to the sd card. But I am guessing it wont start using the sd card until the internal 16gb is filled up. The memory setting has an option for windows sync to go to either the internal mem or sd card.
What I think they should add is the option to fill up the sd card first then the internal memory if the card fills up.
I'm lost? The external SD card option is great because once that 16GB is filled up, you have the option to add upto 32GB of memory to your phone. If you don't see that as a good thing, then you don't need to put in an SD card. I got an Atrix over the Nexus S because of the lack of external SD card on the phone. I like it when I have options. I have pictures and musics on my SD card.
you dont need to fill up internal storage; i made a folder in the SD root directory called music, added music to that file with windows media player, and they were found right off the bat. did the same with movies, ringtones, and pictures; everything goes to my SD card, all my fresh downloads of movies pics and music go to the phones internal storage, so when i hook up my atrix to my PC i sync all other media to the memory card and my pc gets all the new data off my atrix. i have about 10GB open on the atrix and 4GB open on the microSD card.
i just hate the fact everything goes to internal first then you transfer later that sucks

If you're referring to the camera and other things, no, you're wrong. There must be some issue with your micro SD card and the phone. On my Atrix, if I choose SD card for storage in the Camera's settings, all pictures I take go to the dcim folder on the SD card immediately. I don't have to move anything. Similarly, when syncing my music, I go into the Device menu in Motorola Media Link and choose my SD card. All the music, photos and videos go immediately there. I never have to copy things over manually.
I'd suggest trying another brand of SD card, or reformatting your card (use FAT32 as the format type).
i have transferred photos from my external sd card on to the internal memory on the phone. When i choose gallery my photo's dont show up anymore
Anyone know how to set the default choice to internal or both?
I have had this issue with some phones and it is like the phone will not recognize the media. Easiest way I have gotten around it is to download what is on the card to a pc and then re-download to the phone memory. But sometimes that doesn't work either. And I haven't found a way to save to internal and external memory at the same time without copying.
thx for the reply
I have a Galaxy Note SGH-i717M on stock rooted ICS 4.0.4. I use CamScanner (version 2.1.1.20130425) a lot. I've used it so much that now it keeps popping up an error that says "SD Card is full" whenever I open it. Recently I scanned a large amount of documents in batch mode. Most of the pages got processed, but a few are left stuck with an hourglass icon overlayed on the pages. I have emailed IntSig (the company who makes CamScanner) and have not received any response, despite being a premium user. This is why I'm here asking for help.
I checked my storage and I have:
Internal Storage: 540MB/1.97GB Available
USB Storage: 0.00B/10.84GB Available
SD card: 19.42GB/29.71GB Available
So it looks like CamScanner is calling my "USB storage" an sd card. I identified the location of CamScanner files in /mnt/sdcard/CamScanner/ (this is not the sd card, despite the name). And I know that the sd card is actually on /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/
I looked through all of CamScanner's settings and there is no where you can specify where it should save files, unfortunately. I would much rather have had CamScanner store its files on my 32gb micro sd card on /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/CamScanner than occupy the very little space I have on the usable internal storage (USB Storage) on the phone
I've had to delete apps on my internal storage to try and get CamScanner to complete its batch processing (so that I can eventually make PDFs of the processed images). Now I have run out of apps to delete on my internal storage. Is there anything that can be done about this? I would like to use CamScanner without deleting more apps every time I scan things. Is there a way to force CamScanner to use my microsd?
Thanks
I use camscanner too. The problem is that the app does much more than save the scan somewhere. It needs room for manipulating the scan. But seriously....your usb memory is completely full? That can't be 100% apps. There has got to be something stored there that you could move to the external sd card. Not to mention without any free usb memory, I am not sure that the phone with all its features and misc apps will not function properly.

I've moved all the apps that live on internal storage to the sd card using app2sd with the exception of 3-4 apps that I need widgets for on the homescreen. Other apps that cannot be moved to the sd card, that I don't need, I have uninstalled already. The rest of the internal space is being occupied by CamScanner and its files to the tune of 5GB+. So it's mostly CamScanner that is now occupying all my internal storage space now (10.84 GB usable internal storage).
I do not want it occupying the majority of my internal storage space anymore. I don't see an end to me using CamScanner ever because it is so useful to me, so the storage occupied by CamScanner will only grow over time. Short of the developers responding to my emails about changing the location and it all working out, I have to figure out something else in the mean time. And yes, I also fear about the other apps not working properly with 0.00 B internal storage left
This is why I'm asking if its possible to move where CamScanner puts its files from, say, /mnt/sdcard/CamScanner to /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/CamScanner using whatever mechanisms possible. Is this possible? Do you know how to do it?
Why not just make a folder on the real sd card called camscanner and move the files there yourself? Once the files are scanned and converted to pdf then there is no sense that they remain in the original folder. Use a file manager on the phone or use your pc to simply move them.

Good idea, I didnt think of that. This will do for now!
Thanks a lot!
Where does cam scanner stores backups?
If*you*use*the*application*"cam scanner"*to*back*up*your*app*data*on*your*Android*smartphone,*then*the
following*question*may*arise:
This*question*is*important*because*helium*backup*only*offers*the*following*options*to*save*a*backup:
•*Internal*device*memory
•*Cloud
Since*it*is*a*backup*app*which*is*used*mostly*before*a*factory*reset,*it*makes*little*sense*to*backup*to*the
internal*memory.*So*you*have*to*copy*the*backup*folder*from*internal*memory*manually*via*USB*cable*to*the
computer.*For*this*purpose,*it*is*important*to*know*where*the*backup*files*from*helium*backup*are*stored.
You*can*find*the*files*here,*after*the*Android*smartphone*is*connected*to*the*PC:
This PC\(Phone Name)\Internal storage\Intsig\CamScanner\databases_backup\(yyyy-mm-dd)-(hh-mm-ss in 24 hr)

I have an S4 with a brand new 32gb Class 10 sd card. I want to make sure that all of my pictures and videos are stored on the SD card and not the internal storage. I also, don't want them stored on both. Is there a setting for this? On a side note, is there a way to auto install apps to the SD card?
Thanks!
Camera app. Menu soft key, settings, cog wheel, storage, set to memory card.
And no.

is there a way to change the default storage to the external SD card. I already changed the settings in the camera, also in the built in web browser however whenever I download anything (via chrome), my downloads always save on the internal SD. same prob. when I download from the xda app. I now have multiple download, tapatalk, camera, etc. folders in the gallery due to this.
In My Files, use the menu key > Settings to change the default file locations for five types, downloads not included.
Since ICS/JB? Apps aren't installed to the SD card. Sucks with only 9gb total
