this is a game changer in my eyes, not so much because EVERYONE has onlive or will get it, but because apple can advertise that there tablet can do these things,
and its pretty FREAKING awesome!
http://kotaku.com/5866154/play-batman-arkham-city-la-noire-and-other-aaa-games-on-your-ipad
i must have this for my android! please tell me this isn't an apple only deal!?
Calm down, it's also available for Android, and it was already available in the Flyer for quite some time now (HTC invested heavily in OnLive back then)
It's a really great idea but right now there is not many games and it is limited to very few country
And Apple doesn't advertise something that's not made by Apple.
They buy it, rebrand it, then they advertise it.

HOLY CRAP... no.
Ya no... this has LAG written all over it. If you've seen people play BFBC2 and Black Ops from their Transformers 1 using remote desktop... it's essentially the same thing. MOST games would be totally unplayable :/ BUT it is a cool idea!
Worked fine on my Motorola XOOM ..no lag at all.

Android version will be better
Android version will allow in-app purchases, and probably controller support will be better. And having 4 cores on the Prime means there will be enough cores to handle video, network and game controller data.
But no need to overhype it. Even without lag/offline issues, games designed for a 20+ inch display are hard to play on a <10 inch tablet. Probably get sniped and never see who shot you. LOL
Games like Fallout and Skyrim need a large screen to make out the detail and find stuff. And in RTS games, units will be way too small. The eye strain is gonna be seriously bad.
IMHO, games designed for a tablet with proper (i.e. bigger) fonts and objects are better. But I guess people want to know it's _possible_ to play PC/console games on a tablet, even if it's not any good.
Unless you have 10ms or less ping to their server there will be noticable lag. How noticable depends on your preferences (and on type of game). I think you could still play without much problems with ping up to 50ms or sth though.

Not true scaling dude this tablet 13 inches away will be apear about the samesize as a 42 inch tv from 5-6 feet away..... That's how you can stand to read on a phone with a 4 inch screen lol

I've played Fallout on an 11-inch, 14-inch laptop and 26-inch monitor... there is a huge difference. And reading on a phone, you can choose a large font and pinch to zoom.
The closer the screen is, the greater the eye strain. So I guess it'll depend on a person's tolerance.
Yes and im 16 and have an extremely high tolerance to small screens

Its awesome,
Too bad i don't have a controller but it doesn't seem like there's too much of a lag.
Its quite different from playing with splash top.

Interesting. When you say quite different do you mean the lag while playing?

There's also the ability to conncet the tablet via microHDMI to a TV, which I plan on doing (with emulators and Mizuu Media Center) ALL THE TIME as is.

I'm nearsighted (well, on one eye, but still) and it's "the closer the better" for me. I watch movies on 23'' screen from 30 centimeters sometimes. And the view is better than in cinema! Sharp and beautiful (I recommend my screen by the way - eizo fs2331, best black you can get on LCD and almost perfect colour gradients, C-PVA panel).

For those of you who have it working I have a question.. Is it REALLY worth the $4.99!? Ive been spoiled by .99c games. Honestly I doubt I purchase it just because of that. But if Im missing out and NEED to play this game could any body offer a brief explanation why? I have read about the game already but would like to hear from someone who is playing on an Atrix. Thanks ahead of time.

i bought it yesterday, but didn't play it for very long. it's a pretty fun game, and the controls were really intuitive. it's exactly how you would want to control a fps on a touch screen, left side of the screen for moving and right for camera.
the graphics were pretty amazing for a smartphone, i was impressed. and i didn't experience any sort of lag, which was even better (using the 1.0ghz enhanced kernel CM7)
i'd say it's worth the 5 dollars, i only got about half an hour into it so far and was already satisfied with my purchase. the animations are all voice acted so far, gameplay is fun, and controls are great for a touch screen.
I highly recommend this game. Well worth the $5. The controls are much better than the gameloft FPS's that I've played and the graphics are amazing. When you compare the price to a console game it's a no brainer purchase.
On the gameloft shooters they kinda auto aim for you (sorta like goldeneye on n64) but on this game once you press the fire button you can move your finger and move your aim, like having dual joysticks. Also the left joystick appears wherever you put your thumb (on the left half of the screen) eliminating the problem of your finger missing the joystick.
The cover system is easy to use and works well. It's nice to have that instead of just having to run around shooting. The enemy AI isn't as good as many console games but miles ahead of other mobile shooters. Enemies will move from cover to cover, one will stick back while the other tries to flank you, etc.
There are a few very minor glitches here and there, but it runs very well on the atrix.
Well worth it...just be ready to kiss your battery byebye

Haven't checked, but i haven't modified it, it's the one from aura 1.2.2.1 deblur aura. Might be the 3.2.0 market messes things up.
Definitely worth it,especially considering it'll get an update for multiplayer in the near future apparently (forgot where i read it but it was a legit source). And the game is great to play, it has great graphics and is very smooth and fast.

Hey all over in the photon forums I have figured out the mapping to be able to use a PS3 controller with the game. I would post a link but I am on mobile. Look in the photon themes and apps. The title is easy to see. Says Shadowgun available for tegra 2 devices. I have only tested the ps3 controller with the photon so hopefully it works for you guys too.

I'm using Aura 1.2.2.0 (just haven't made the upgrade to 1.2.2.2 yet) and had the "download is incompatible with your device" from the market, however, I was able to install via market.android.com
Also... Yesterday(?), there was an update available for the game. After installing it, the character was holding an invisible gun that shelled out little pink blocks. Apparently this was a pretty common problem. This was fixed by reinstalling the game after deleting /sdcard/Android/data/com.madfingergames.shadowgun

Sadly there is no way to make hdmi mirroring with the Atrix... Widescreen that is.
This game is great on both my Atrix and eee pad transformers. For anybody having glitches, just uninstall the game and reinstall. I had to do that on both devices afterthe update. Also for those who have an eee pad with dock, you can plug up an Xbox 360 controller and play the game like it is an Xbox 360 game, just loads faster.

Is the game worth it? It's a bit like asking if it's worth breathing. The graphics are amazing, the controls are very user-friendly and fun, the game runs without any sort of lag or problem and it's like Resident Evil 5 but for mobile phones.
This is the first game that i actually find worth buying for my Atrix.
Ratings: 10/10.

I suck as FPS and I'm a sucker for eye candy, but I definitely think this is a 10/10. Very well polished game. Some FPS pros might get bored of it but I'm not good enough at the genre to make an informed decision lol
Definitely with $5 or whatever it was.
Hi all,
I was hoping someone could offer some advice.
I am due to be working away from home for half the month and at the moment my set up at home consists of a beast of a gaming rig. I don't want to fork out for an expensive gaming laptop and thought the prime might be a good option for me.
So a few questions...
1. How do the remote desktop applications fare on the prime? Essentially I would need to use the prime to wake up my pc at home, control torrent downloads and maybe play a game with low graphic demands like football manager (i'm not expecting BF3 or other FPS...could an MMO work via remote desktop? like TOR?)
2. With regards to the "cloud storage" do you get 2gb with the transformer prime? if so can this also be accessed via a pc at home? So I could for example...
Remotely download a movie.
Put the movie file onto the cloud storage.
Access the movie file from my prime so that I can watch it in an area without wifi.
3. Is there a way to add a 3g dongle to the prime?
4. I am due a phone upgrade in March. I currently have a HTC desire which has stood the test of time for it's 2 year contract. Money is a little tight so I was considering getting my phone upgrade and sticking it on ebay to cover most of the prime's cost. I figure I only need a phone for calls and the built in sat nav and the prime can do the rest. also my HTC desire can only get me £75 from mobile recycling places.
5. As I have to wait until March is there a tablet I have overlooked which will be released in March that would be superior to this...basically if i am waiting until March should I hold out for something else?
Thanks in advance for the replies everyone!

am i doing something wrong?
1 the preloaded software only works when the laptop is already in but it is smooth enough to play something simple
2 yes download movie in PC upload top cloud storage them you can watch it without wifi our already some services allow that
3 no 3g dongle it's a wifi tablet
4 get the nexus a you can find them cheap and feet ics on them
5 tablets well be the same by March all quad core all same resolution that's my view anyway all you can do its wait and pick on personal opinion

I use Teamviewer, it runs the computer just like I was in front of it, never tried major gaming on it though. I don't think it would work well since most of the login apps out there decrease colors and other things to enhance performance.
2. With regards to the "cloud storage" do you get 2gb with the transformer prime? if so can this also be accessed via a pc at home? So I could for example...
You get 8 gb, and yes you can access/sync it from any computer. I use it to sync my work, Prime, and home computer files
Remotely download a movie.

In order to do that it will have to be downloaded first to your prime, but it can be done.

Don't know

right now it really is a waiting game to see what other tablets come out by then, if any. Probably the Ipad3 will be out, and I would guess 1-2 more Tegra 3 tabs, but they may hit production delays just like the prime did, no one really knows, right now it is a crap shoot. The great part is this tab is going to be competitive with anything that comes out next year for the most part.
Thanks in advance for the replies everyone!

Ok, my msg is too short....
You can control your PC over the internet using TeamViewer. No, you won't be able to play an MMO or do other major gaming on it. I guarantee you that TOR will be a slideshow, you'll be able to gather nodes (if you log near them) and manage Crew Missions but that's about it.
If you are running Windows7 you will need to use a Magic Packet to wake your PC to manage torrents, etc. I believe there is also an Android app that will remotely manage Mircotorrent (aka uTorrent) remotely without requiring you to manage your PC.
You can share your files via DropBox (or similar) as long as you are mindful of the 2GB limit.
No better tablet has been announced for March release yet, and if it were (given the industry standard of badly slipped release dates) I wouldn't count on it. Now if one had been announced with a January release....
You can remote in using Splashtop HD to remote in. It transmits both video and audio. Just have to install remote viewer software on the pc.

In relation to the 3g single question, Asus feel that as android phones can tether then peeople would just tether to their prime. Obviously they are assuming that everyone with a prime will already have a smart phone with tethering available, this is a stretch.

wow some fantastic comments thank you all.
I think there has to be a limit to expectation here. I'm not expecting the remote desktop to run things perfectly but it won't be it's primary function otherwise I'd just get a laptop.
So £500 then...I wonder if carphonewarehouse would do a deal if you buy a contract from them.
splashtop HD or built in splashtop in mycloud in mydesktop should work fine for video or gaming. just make sure to load reviewer on to PC. pretty simple setup. load reviewer on PC. load on tablet. enter names and passwords on both devices and your good to go.
another thing to look at for gaming is OnLive. its out for Android. allows you to play PC/console/Indie games through the cloud on OnLive servers. response time is fastest out there and basically no lag. feels just as if you natively playing the game. there are some great games up there like PC/Nvidia optimized Batman Arkham City, Homefront fps, Metro 2033, unreal tournament(PC version), etc.. the games look and play great on the prime. no loss in quality basically. the app is free from marketplace. free to make an account. you get to play all the games with a free 30 min. trial period. you can flat out buy the game but best seems to be the bundle package. for $9.99 a month you have unlimited access to 100's of top notch PC/console games. I was playing Darksiders, through OnLive, on my prime. no lag at all, graphics looked sick. definitely a cool experience and great deal considering the caliber and number of games they have up there.

NICE! I never needed a reason for onlive...I'll have to check it out.
So, I bit the bullet and bought a Prime, I had talked myself out of it about 9 million times, was going to buy a used one from chin-a-ling (sorry mate) but my fiancee pushed me, and pushed me and I finally bought one... I am in love.
But the title says it all, I am wondering what the future is going to be. My hope is to end up being able to play Portal on this thing one day. With the fact that Bethesda has mentioned possible tablet ports of older titles, Valve has always been one to examine all unique possibilities. It would be incredible to be Chell running through the hall way, aiming and then tapping where I want the portal
Anyways, what does everyone else think? Looking forward to seeing what the major companies might do? Games you hope to see ported or even developed as a standalone counterpart from your favorite series?

I think tablet gaming especially on iOS has a bright future. Some of iOS's best exclusives have trickled their way to Android. But there is still a lot to be desired on the Android platform as far as games go. Currently EPIC is making fantastic games for iOS through ChAIR Entertainment. Hopefully they will one day embrace Android.
Well ios has infinity blade and usually gets games a bit earlier. That's about it IMHO.
Android has amazing emulators and most importantly full gamepad support.
There are also some really nice looking tegra3 exclusives coming. Definately infinity blade lvl of graphics.
I'd say the future is bright. Me personally I'm hoping for point and click adventures getting big on tablets. They perfect for touch control.
Gaming on tablets and Prime will be SICK! Just watch. Already amazed at the types of games I'm playing already. And I don't play b.s. ones like angry birds or whatever. Lol hardcore gamer here.
I used to be a hardcore gamer before I joined the Navy but after I got out I haven't had time with school, but I am a huge Portal/Half Life Fan, as well as a few of the other artsy FPS games e.g. Mirrors Edge. I KNOW the Tegra 3 can handle it, it is a matter of whether or not the big guys will believe in the future of tablet/mobile gaming. It is a growing segment of serious gamers, and I think that tablet ownership would increase as games become more innovative/complex.

And it works like a charm. It never ceases to amaze me that the first time I played day of the tentacle I had to clear my 40MB(!) hdd before I could install it, was supplied om an enormous amount of floppy disks, took ages to install and now I can play it on a apparatus small enough to fit in my pocket (in case of my galaxy nexus)...
They need to bring the Broken sword series to Android. I have both games on Ipad n loved them. Like a touch point n click. Graphics n storyline is very good.
I installed onlive and am playing all sorts of pc games.

There's an app or method to get apps not available in your area or whatever. I forgot what it was. I would think as long as you have a decent to fast internet connection, Onlive should work fine for you. Plus its a free app so technically someone could upload the free apk for you to use. Worth a shot.

that wouldn't even matter. he just make a free account then sign in. there's nothing in the app that's esteeming location, I don't think. I would think as long as he make an account, which is just providing email address and making a user name, he would be good. worth a try. nothing to lose.

Slashgear Review
I was reading through my usual Android news sites and came across this. Instantly I installed it on both my Prime and HTC One X.
I haven't checked it out beyond the very impressive intro yet but I got a slight surprise whilst installing it. My HTC One X was around 2.5x faster at unpacking the game than my Prime was. I set the Prime off unpacking first then the One X, I even had to restart the unpacking on the One X due to the screen turning off and still the One X finished first and I was able to watch the intro (very impressive on a 4.7" 720P screen) before the Prime finished.
I had the Prime set to Balanced Mode (1.2Ghz) but I feel it's more likely the memory Asus have used that meant the unpack was so slow and that if I had selected Performance (1.6Ghz o/c) the One X would still have been faster?
Anyway, off to check the game out for a bit. Looks good so far

Looks good so far

the slower speeds in read/write is software related. Asus needs to tweak the firmware.
Tried with my PS3 controller. It Doesn't work

The game is on screen gesture controlled. Not sure you can really map that to a controller?
Not my kind of game. But the graphics are good and the game runs smoothly.
And for controller. This game is made for touch, And I doesn't think that playing this with a gamepad would make it better.

Screen flickering
I couldn't even get the game started. Everytime I select "Start New Game", the screen turns white and start to flicker. I'm using AOKP at the moment. Do I have to do anything?

Others that have had this issue have reported that it has been fixed after a restart. Initially the screen does go white for a few seconds when you start the game for the first time.
Nice game I like that and runs very very smooth

sixaxis app and root can create touch profiles that are mapped to the buttons of your choosing on the ps3 controller

I have that but still don't think it would work. It's gesture control - there aren't specific areas on the screen to press for most actions. To look at something/pick it up you have to touch the screen where it is. To activate the crossbow you have to press the screen to pull it back and hold it whilst you aim then let go to fire. You then use gestures with the knife/sword to slash like in Fruit Ninja etc. You also click specific areas on floors to move to them or on doors to open them.
If there is a way to map everything then brilliant as I would prefer to use my PS3 pad but I haven't a clue how to get it to work myself.

Had the same issue on stock prime. It eventually worked after a hard reboot.

This took me like 3 attempts to start, but it runs. I played this game for quite a few hours yesterday, about level 7 or 8 in game, on the second floor (if my level is too high for the second floor it's cause I kept getting attacked looking for gems).
All in all I like the game, big changeup for android.
I love the silent hill series, and I can see how some people can relate the two in terms of the plot and the monsters, but it's nothing like silent hills gameplay in my opinion.
It's more of a cross between blood and glory and a clue game. You fight like in blood and glory, and you search around for things on the map like those clue games on the market that I always see but never download.
I think it would be funner if you could freely move around, but it's pretty fun as it is, and that could ruin some of the suspense of moving to an area and wondering if somethings going to pop out and attack you.
Since it's free, there's no excuse for a tegra 3 owner not to download this and give it a go.

bro, get gamecih and save your money, I'm pretty confident it will work on this game. I haven't tried because I think gamecih can ruin a game by cheating, but it lets you alter numeric values like coins, xp, etc.
Also I'm not trying to tell you how to spend your money, perhaps you like supporting the developer, just speaking on behalf of your wallet :3
this is definitely a game you use to showcase the prime and tegra3 power. i cut superips on while playing so the graphics and screen pop out even more. its a beautiful game. and its free..lol
more games need to use the unreal3 engine...cant wait till bladeslinger finally releases.

Da Vinci THD uses unreal3 as well, been waiting for that one months before I even bought my transformer prime. 1-2 more months and it should be here finally.

What you think of 'Rule the Kingdom' ?
It seems like a great idea, an rpg + sim/simcity style game.
Its free to download.
The part that I think breaks the gameplay is the huge fremium portion of the game. It takes forever to do anything unless you spend crystals, which are extremely rare unless you buy them with real money.
But without the fremium, I think the game would be great. (I refuse to spend money on fremium games)
EDIT:
Haha, just found a huge exploit in the game, so now you don't need to to buy diamonds to speed things up
The game's time is dependent on the system's time. Meaning if you go to settings and increase a day, a lot of resources you were making just finish instantly (and you get the daily chest).
There are downfalls to placing the system's time back to the real time.
What I did:
Went back to the year 2001, used the diamonds that came originally, to heal my character. Now i'm playing till i pass the game. Safely advancing the time by day. When i complete the game, i go back to today's time and wait for the new content with a loooot of resources hehehe.

I will say it right off the bat, and it goes with ANY game on ANY console; I despise freemium and pay to win. They are horrible and just scam the customer. Even when you "purchase" a game and are able to buy your way through faster and better equipment. I had a game similar to that called MyCountry and I downloaded a cheating client so I could have as much money as I wanted and actually play the game. I can't stand those. Other than that I know quite a bit of people to play that game and enjoy it, so it could be fun. Who knows.
Anyone have suggestions for similar games, pref. with no pay to win / pay to get items ?
Been looking for sim games for ages ( civ like games etc)

Or age of empire like game, or better still a port of space empires
Im surprised there are not more real time startegy games for android, as real time strategy and touchscreen controls seem to go hand in hand if done right

I am a big fan of the SimCity series and EA has a full on port of in the Play Store that is very well made. Very nice touch controls. Don't know if that's your sort of game, but I thought it was worth it. And i completely agree with the A full Touch RTS would be fantastic
