Any luck with Music Playback on DX2? 2.3.5? - Motorola Droid X2

Hey Devs,
Rooted my DX2 and installed Eclipse 1.3 and noticed that there still is the battery issue (which is no biggie) but i was wondering if anyone knew if there has been a fix for music playback and bluetooth connection. Music seems to still skip while playing on bluetooth in the car, and that drives me insane.
Didn't know if the leaked 2.3.5 has the fix included or not, an insight would be great.
Thanks

The bat was not fixed in the 2.3.5 update..... but I released a MOD in the dev section... read the sticky with all mods and roms for details... the music issue I have never had... What is the sd card class of your sd card? That may be an Issue.... but I have yet to get the "music jumping" issue that everyone has posted since day one..... But your the first to state anything about bluetooth connections for playback... No clue man. has to be your SD class .. or your running 30+ apps.

Im running a class 4 16gb card. came with my fascinate back in the day. I was wondering if that might be the issue both others said it wasn't. Im gonna try and find a cheap class 10 8gb cuz i use no where near 16.
thanks for the help though

I had the issue a little until I raised my SD rate in Rom Tool box. Do you think that had something to do with fixing it?

Do you have blue tooth headphones? I heard that over blue tooth the skipping was eliminated.
But at the very least on 2.3.5 with kernal 0007 the one before the latest its been far better then 2.3.4 on any rom with poweramp on high buffer.
On 2.3.5 its stable through headphones but the problem still exists.
I'd say get 2.3.5 newest ver, get v6 super charger update 8 and use setting 9. If you can find it v6 noop, set cpu and use a profile and set minimal to 400mhz or some where around that but not lower, and get sd speed boost. I use this config and over wired headphones i get 3-4 songs skip out of 105 on the playlist. Hopefully this will help decrease the chances of the skip.

I have the same sd card. Idk why your having the issue(as well as others). I used winamp and the "unreleased" google music app and have used just speakers, radio antenna(the one that broadcasts to a stereo) and headphones with 0 issues. Thats with my phone being on all day. I "wish" my phone would do this, just so I could help fix the problem, but I simply dont get it, and I have two droid x2s(one is dev phone). I heard that after class 10 you run into rewrite issues and it distorts the data so I'd watch out past 10.
Do you have your SD card speed increased? I can't remember the app, but Im sure all the ROMs(mine and all of ryans have it anyway) have the sd speed increased. Are you "multitasking" while there is music playback? If so, then try to see which app is causing the issue and when it starts to skip, check your RAM and see how much memory is being used prior to playback and while the skips occur.

ok so i put in a spare class 10 no avail...gonna try 2.3.5 with the kernel you have suggested.
When i flash it will the kernel be included or will it need to be added afterwards?

[Q] headphone jack is hijacking my bluetooth

My droid would use whatever BT headset (stereo or not) for the phone when my headphone jack was also in use (to use car stereo) for audiobook player.
I have new Fascinate and I swear it did the same until I rooted it. Regardless, it will be close to a deal breaker if I cannot find a solution to this.
Even if the headset indicator is ON, the sound still goes to the headphone jack, RIDICULOUS
In my opinion, plugging into headphone jack should only take over media type output (music, audiobook player, video) and LEAVE PHONE ON BLUETOOTH. We should at least be able to chose this behavior in a setting.
So is this a Samsung screwup? do other Samsung devices behave this.
How hard would it be for a dev to build an app to FIX this on Fascinate.
I thought I was the only one with that situation... I would love to know the answer/fix, however I have a feeling someone will be by soon to move this to the general forum...
I actually wanted the opposite. Overall, I liked how bluetooth was handled on my old chocolate and was surprised by the differences in eclair. I expected my bluetooth to be able to grab all audio, regardless of what apps were running. For instance I wanted to use my BT with a fring call. Seemed sensible!
Anyway, I went searching, and the prevailing opinion was that bluetooth was locked up until Froyo (and tightly tied to actual calls).
Does anyone know if audio is handled in a gracefully way in current AOSP or CM?

I believe that my Droid 1 behaved my desired way on 2.1 and 2.2, can't remember if I used this way on 2.0...
I was assuming this was a 'problem' on Fascinate or Samsung, not android OS in general.
I thinj its a problem with fascinate. I was driving for 5 hours last week and I had bluetooth connected to my garmin and used one of those cassette thingies to play music from my fascinate. Sometimes I were able to talk without unplugging the headset.
Another reason I suspect its fascinate is cuz when I use my old blackberry headphones I have unplug and replug to use it for conversations.
Btw whats good stereo heaphones with mic that works with the fascinate?

I have a friend with a Vibrant and his apparently does NOT have this problem, so I am wondering if a Bluetooth file from his system might work on my phone.
There are 3 BT files in system dump:
BT OPP
BT services
BT test mode
so is one of these the file that would determine what path audio would take in any given situation? (e.g. headphone jack occupied while BT headset connected, desired paths media>headphone phone>BT)
I REALLY need to fix this before my 30 days are up or phone probably going back.
I got my hopes up when I discovered the 'secret menu', but I don't see any setting in there that seems appropriate.
I've tested with the superclean 0.7 DL30 rom and this same problem still exists
Please let me know if anyone finds a solution.

stupid ass samsung friggin morons!
It looks like this is a problem on other Samsung Galaxy S phones as well, see a thread and app someone made in the Epic forums.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842571
it is just the phone app
this problem is extremely frustrating. if i have headphones plugged in the mic works just fine. the mic is only turned off when i use an AUX cable. It would be nice to be able to drive and not have to worry about unplugging the AUX cable everytime I wanted to use my phone.
I downloaded the Epic app they made over there but all it did was hard lock my phone with my first test. I dug into the code but I'm a wee bit over my head so I'll hit up the books and see if I can't work with the guy who made the Epic one to see about getting it working with our phone.
This was with the .7 superclean DL30 rom, I'd love for someone else to try one of the other DL30 roms and see if they have any better success.
I contacted the author of the app and he replied back stating he had a buddy with a fascinate test it and it worked fine and that it might be an issue with the busybox version included with the .7 superclean 2.2 rom I was running and that it relied on busybox having the pidof command. Later tonight I'll dig into this a bit more and post back hopefully a fix and instructions on hwo to ensure this is working
I got this working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842571
The Froyo version works just fine on the original DL30 leak and on rubiks .3 DL30 but does NOT work on DL30 super clean .7 or .9. In .7 I got a hard lock that I had to do a battery pull to fix and in .9 the app ran and looked like it worked, but the audio routing did not change as expected.
All credit to cicada, I did nothing more than test it
I have not tested this on any 2.1 ROMS

I am on original DL30 leak and did NOT work for me... at least with Ambling Book Player. Not sure if it matters what app we are using to play media file. It shouldn't, but this whole problem should not exist. SAMSUNG morons!
Ok so i tried with my Rubiks DL30 ROM installed. The app opens up, no FCs or bricks or anything, but it doesn't work. I had my wife call me when i was driving, I picked up and she said she could hear me but I still couldn't hear her. I'm assuming that the car's mic is functioning but it still doesn't fix the issue. Is there a bluetooth adapter out there i can stick in the aux jack? Well i guess the first question should be, can the phone handle having two BT devices connected at the same time? i.e. hands-free calling and BT audio adapter
I'd say maybe try another full wipe and re-flash. I've switched over to the superclean EB01 roms, currently on 2.3 and hasn't had any issues with this working on 2.1, 2.2 or 2.3. I did have 2.2 initially not function with this tool, similar to what you reported above with it looking like it was working but not actually doing anything but a full wipe and reflash did the trick.
ok... thanks, at least you've run into that problem so i'm willing to give it another go. I'm currently on SC 2.4 so i guess i can be your guinea pig
I'm on SC 2.4 currently and had it stop working on me again. At work now but I'm going to try setting the app off and then back on, I have had to do that sometimes when flashing as the files get overwritten. This was working properly in SC 2.3
Hey man, thanks for the updates and info... you're really like the ONLY person that's giving me any hope on this. I thought the compatibility issues were busybox related? So I don't see why it wouldn't work on SC2.4
Would someone please fix this on Fascinate... ? pleeeeezzzzzz

[Q] [Solved] Streaming Audio cuts out

Hello Folks,
I just replaced my old Droid Eris (that I took swimming) with a Samsung Fascinate that I bought from a guy on Craigslist.
The phone is in pretty great shape, and it is wonderfully faster than my old Eris was (especially after it went swimming).
The stock rom was disgustingly hogged by VZW and M$, as I'm sure you all know. I am currently running PowerWashedGB on it, and it is fabulous.
I am having a problem however with audio dropping out during streaming, and am trying to decipher whether it is software or hardware related.
Does anyone else have problems with audio dropping when streaming? Works great when read off a disk. I went back to the VZW stock rom to see if it had to do with PWGB, but the problem persisted.
Does anyone know a way I can pick this problem apart, and if there is a different radio/modem I could try flashing? Everything else on the phone works great, even data for the most part, just not stable enough to hold a steady stream (drops every 30 seconds or so for about 5-10 seconds).
Thanks guys.

Do a *228 options 1 and 2 and let the phone reset. If the problem persists: does it happen with only one streaming app or with all of them. If it's all of them try streaming with the charger plugged in to check if it's a voltage issue with the screen off. Lastly, does it happen with the screen off or on or both ?

Thank you for your quick reply. Setting the phone to reprogram seems to have fixed the issue, I've been streaming about a half hour now with no problems, which is far more than was working previously.

So major problems with this phone is ...

The internal microsd going bad and needing replacement (easy enough fix)
and the lcd crapping out.
Anything else i should be aware of? other than the lack of support from dell.
1) 407 stock rom stable?
2) whats the major advantage of going the DSC rom? i read a lot about the proximity sensor not working after a call. This would peave me off royal.
3) can it do wifi tethering on the DSC or stock rom?
4) no cm7 avaiable huh?
thanks!
1) Never ran stock 407 long enough to check stability.
2) DSC is the most stable of all the gingerbread roms and has the most active ongoing development. It has been rock solid stable for me the past several months. However, there are a couple ongoing issues. One is the proximity sensor thing and its actually not a big deal and I believe its close to being fixed. The workaround for it is to go into Accessibility settings and set the power button to end a call...problem solved. The other one, which doesn't plague everybody (but does me), is a wifi issue. If I set up my wifi to stay on even when the screen goes off, I will randomly lose connection. The biggest problem with this is the phone thinks it is still connected, so I miss notifications, etc. The workaround for this is to run Wifi Fixer (Some seem to like Wifi Reassociate better). With Wifi Fixer running, my wifi issue is gone.
3) Yes, wifi tethering works on DSC.
4) No, there is no CM7 for this phone.
thanks for the response, as soon as i get (the second one) my streak ill install the DSC. Im always on 3g anyways (6gb of data) so i dont think the wifi is going to be too big of an issue. But thanks for the pointers on how to fix it.
oh also, since the internal microusb is removable, is it possible to upgrade it to a 16gb or 32gb model? will the firmware still recognize the chip?
If you upgrade the internat card to 4gb the phone will format it for you, it is really quick and easy. If you go with a card larger than that you will need to do a lot more work to the card, formatting it and such. Also I think you may have to mount the partition you want to use. I hope someone else chimes in about the larger cards as I have not used one.
There is a thread about this.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
You can go as high as an 8 gig is what I have seen. Going 16 does need some partitioning though
cool, thanks for the insight guys.
i replace the 2gb internal card with 8gb microsd class 10 from Kingstone and works very good (internal slot for internal memory suport up to 32gb class 10 and the same for the extended memory slot, so 32+32=64gb )
Let tell u somthing about the screen...one time i forgot my caseless Streak on my lap n went off the taxi som my Streak fell on the road on its screen...not a scratch on the screen..but lots on the cover around it........another time i dropped it frm about a meter and a half and al i got was a reboot n a loss of vibration for a while ...XD Its a damn tough device XD
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk
well the gorilla, monkey, ape, primate glass does help with the scratches but from what ive read, it's the touch screen underneath the glass that goes bad. Or the crappy connectors that either come loose or lose their connectivity. The first streak i got came with a bad touch screen already. now im waiting for the second one but i have doubts about the quality of the touch screen.

I had a streak for a couple weeks until I broke it... Dropped on cement floor landed on its corner cracking the LCD but leaving the glass intact. The size makes this thing's too easy to drop cause its awkward to hold with one hand
o Dsc: I got the streak for use a gaming machine, and quickly discovered stock doesn't support most hd games, and the rest are so slow they are unplayable. Dsc has by far the best 3D performance and is very stable as long as you don't overload it with hundreds of apps. And the build is easily customizable through the config tool. Only problems I noticed with dsc was no GPS, and no WiFi tether. Tried installing the tethering app from market never got it working. I was running 0.7b

There's absolutely no problem with either GPS OR TETHERING on any of the ROMs for the Streak. If you had troubles you probably had a flash go wrong or a hardware issue

Bluetooth music issues

Hi everyone, this is my first post here. great site. phone is Sony Xperia S with stock ICS with 4.0.4
i have issues with bluetooth music keeps skipping at random and whenever i interact with the device with WALKMAN. i never had this problem when i had GB on the phone.
I installed poweramp and increased the audio buffer to 750ms and enable wakelock option in poweramp and bluetooth music skips less than the WALKMAN but it stil skips. i am wondering if less free ram or high cpu usage can cause this. i got nothing installed on the phone except poweramp. i formatted the sdcard a few times and reinstalled ICS using SEUS. but the issues remained.
i have a SE mw600 and a sony dr-bt50 headphones. they worked fine with my old iphone which i already sold. lol
i have no problems with the bundled earphone except that i barely hear music when am in a bus.
is the bluetooth headsets incompatible with sony xperia s or it something else. can someone guide me here.
It's a bluetooth issue i think , I've tried loads of different ways to fix it and it still happens! Its soo annoying! Is your phone rooted?

No the phone is not rooted. But am considering. so there is no current solution for that? hmm. i really liked the phone. i use ubuntu and arch linux at home and i cant even get access to the sdcard of the phone after ICS upgrade . i had issues transferring files when phone had GB but i could transfer some files but not anymore. i really like the phone but i think SONY messed with the phone. i sold my iPhone because i could not use it directly with linux and thought buying and android phone will give me this feature. The android system is awesome. i am will wait for a solution from sony or anyone, if i cant get it working then am going to sell the xperia s and never buying a sony phone. am going with nexus.
i think when the phone was on GB i did not have this issue on the bluetooth music. so mayB its ICS and it can be solved. can someone confirm this if i downgrade to GB, will this solve the bluetooth issue. Thanks
thanks for your reply Ben
There is apparently another update from Sony due so fingers crossed they'll sort it
Same issue here, getting annoying now too. Mine often pauses or skips when playing from my car stereo on the BT. Hoping that there is an update pushed out soon to fix.
if you are rooted, and have int.d support on your kernel you can flash the xperia fidelity audio optimization zip. It really helped for me, the audio still skips sometimes on bluetooth but not like every 20 secs without it. you can find it in the themes and apps section. apparently it incorporates some kernel, governor, and i/o scheduler optimizations for low-latency playback

Ok. thanks Ben, i will wait for the update. if the update does not solve this issue, then going with galaxy nexus
You can always go back to GB. Thats the decision I made. You dont realise just how solid the phone is, until it isn't.
I dont know if you use NFC, but is is much better on GB compared to ICS. Using smart tags to connect to a BT device only worked about 10% of the time for me under ICS, 100% under GB.
Fingers crossed for an ICS update that is actually tested.
--Phil
I have a Sony smart headset pro and use it over bluetooth with ICS. I very rarely have skipping problems. I run Mooded ICS, xperia Sspeed kernel V2 and have changed Dalvik VM to 128. Everyonce in a while it will very very slightly hiccup but nothing that produced a large problem. Hopes this helps.

[Q] Little Annoying HOX+ Issues

OK so I've had my HOX+ for about a month having moved on from the Apple empire and for the most part I love the phone. There are a few annoying things I've noticed and after much time searching forums, contacting HTC and all that jazz haven't found a good answer yet. So I figured I'd just try asking and getting some opinions here. My disclaimer is that I'm still 100% stock and not quite ready to dive into root and custom ROMs yet
Issue #1 - that damn BT call audio issue - Has anyone found a fix for the BT issue so everyone I talk to in my car doesn't sound like they are talking with their phone in their mouth? I spent a week working with HTC on this and all I ever got was the standard "we're sorry to hear about your issue, working to resolve, blah blah blah"
Issue #2 - I've recently noticed a issue with audio pausing and the phone being slow to respond from unlock when playing music. PowerAmp seems to be the worst culprit but I've noticed this a little with Double Twist also. I've tweaked my audio settings in PA to use the "huge" buffer and highest thread priority. Turning Beats off didn't seem to help either.
Any feedback welcome, thanks.
Gonna have to root to fix Bluetooth audio issues or wait for a ota threw your service provider

I also have a bigger problem actually.. the headphones output are not equal.. one is higher than the other.. tried different headphones.. but na.. nothing has changed..

Yeah that sounds almost exactly like my problem, little minor pauses most of the time (which to me is kind of annoying) and every so often a longer pause of like 4-10 seconds. I ended up having my phone go into a sleep of death last night so I rebooted and also ended up removing the Double Twist widget I had up when I was checking out different players. Today the pause issue seemed better but still not 100% so I'm starting to suspect something (widget or otherwise) I'm running is maxing out the CPU or something.
Haven't noticed any balance issue though, what player are you using? I know in PowerAmp and I'd imagine others there is a balance control...could just be off a bit or if nothing else you might try adjusting it to compensate till you find a solution.
Stock based and aosp roms have Bluetooth fixes.
You can't fix anything yourself unless u root, otherwise wait for a carrier update that may never come.
Will also fix any slow performance issues you might be having, even more so with a custom kernel.
Never experienced issues with Bluetooth myself tho.

I am having the same audio issue. I'm using N7 player. It sucks. I thought it was just the player but then It started happening on pandora too. does this quick pause only happen on AUX? I haven't tested to see what happens with bluetooth audio streaming. Only happens/has been tested happening with AUX.
This happens on the latest viper rom for one x+ att
We should fix this!

I have had same problems with music, tried Zplayer which solved the issues... my phone is on stock rom ...
Had a chance to do some heads down work and played music for the better part of 4 hours. The pause issue is still there with Double Twist, but nowhere near as bad when I was running stock. Very minor now bit still apparent. My PowerAmp trial ran out so I can't test it. Might try Player Pro even though I'm not crazy about it.

I have noticed minor pauses in music at the same spot when walking down my road towards my house. Due to it happening in roughly the same spot, I have put this down to my home WiFi connecting and/or my Vodafone Sure Signal signal booster being picked up as the primary network connection for calls etc.
I have no idea if my thoughts are correct, but is this something anyone else has tried or even thought about? My phone is currently fubar'd so I can't test it atm.
I hv tried few ROMs and concluded that its the stock kernel's processor settings on sleep mode, I installed cm 10.1 with blade kernel and changed minimum CPU frequency at bit higher level and music plays perfectly fine... I hope this could help others.

Yes, I have found that the audio pause issue seems to be related to connecting to a wifi spot. It still happens when wifi is turned off though, so although they are related, it's not the cause.
I definitely think it has to do with the clockspeed of the device when it is idling.
I notice the audio pauses when,
The screen is left on and the orientation changes

Someone take this information and e-mail HTC. I was going to call them, but I don't have the time to deal with all of this stuff right now. College finals are next week.
EDIT: managed to give HTC a call. They suggested poweramp and said that they were working on a proper fix. I don't have the time to test to see if power amp solves the issue just now, but it's always good to hear other people's experiences/devices specs. So let me know your device specs and what you know about this issue!
