Wifi problem - Optimus One, P500, V General

why is every kernel having the WiFi problem- WiFi gets disconnected even if WiFi policy is set to never
hope developers have an answer to it..

Nope, it's ROM/router/you. Not kernel.

i am using oxygen rom v1.1 and my router is perfectly fine
so what could be the problem?
i remember that with the stock v10E 2.2.2 rom wifi was working fine but now it gets disconnected after aprrox 30 secs whe i turn off the screen

and yes on the notification bar it appears to be connected but actually its not

Honestly idk - i got that on mik's 6.5.7, but never on stock roms(i think). problems with wifi on sleep came after i change router.

Config your rooter again, if it doesn't help then you should HARD reset your router

Automatic WiFi/3G data connection switching on 2.2 ROMs

While I was running the Stock SE 2.1 .435 release (rooted of course) my X10 was capable of automatically switching between the GSM data connection to any of my configured Wifi networks (at work and at home) without any user interaction.
I have a friend with a Motorola Milestone on 2.1 with this same behaviour.
Every 2.2 ROM I have loaded seems to have a problem with regards to this feature. Basically I have to perform a manual switch but here are two of the behaviours I have noticed.
On FreeX10 the SSID basically becomes disabled. If I am at home and connected to my home network and leave the cell area my 3G network becomes established and everything is fine. Once I get back home within the cell area of my WiFi network the WiFi connection does not become active. Instead I have to go into Wireless Settings and that's when I see it is disabled. Long press the SSID and choosing Connect gets me connected.
On [Cyanogen6.1.3]gingerbread[v01] the SSID does not get disabled but rather it continuously fails. Same use case as above except when I go into Wireless Settings I see the SSID "Connecting" and then failing and entering the "Remembered" state.
My friend with the Milestone recently upgraded to 2.2 and will test this scenario to see if it is inherent to 2.2.
My question is, would it be possible to take the 2.1 Wifi component and use that in the 2.2 ROMs?
It would be great this could get fixed, same problem is with the gingerbread roms.
Like u said, it doesn't even help when switching WiFi off/on again using my WiFi widget. U have to manually press connect on your specific WiFi connection.
Pain in the ass!

I have the same problems, tried both roms and ended up sticking with Cyanogen, simply because it was less of a pain re wifi but i still have reconnection problems when leaving my house. The answer is to manually turn off wifi then leave, then reengage wifi manually when i return. A pain but, a small one
Agreed. Toggling the power does not help.
If it is possible to take the WiFi component (for lack of a better word) from another build I strongly suggest considering .435 because it worked phenominally under various conditions.
yea my wifi doesn't seem to work well either with the FreeX10 rom
I assume you already tried Blade Wifi Fix? If not, do so.
The Blade fix was included in the CM ROM I installed. It looks like all it did was power cycle the wifi which as already stated doesn't help.

Try to delete included BladeWifiFix and reboot test again and if still not working install BladeWifiFix new from Market and test again.

FreeX10 is almost the same you can try it there too. What it does? Fix Wifi maybe, for some it fixes for some not so just try it you dont loose anything^^
i have been running free x10 for 3 months i suppose. it switches fine for me.
there where issues of WIFI NOT CONNECTING , no problems of switching though as u stated. so i installed blade wifi and everything was well.
i suggest what wolf says.

I know what it is intended to do but I was wondering how it was doing it. being a technical person I don't like the shotgun approach because the end results are very hard to interpret if you don't know what you are actually doing
but I digress I have installed it and I will be testing as soon as I get home

hi,
after reading this i though ...
me and wolf include blade wifi on our roms.
for me i don`t have any issue regarding wifi on my rom. i get out of home with wifi connected do a 1 hour trip to my work and when i get there wifi pick signal without any issue.
but......
i don`t check right away, so.
like i said me and wolf we include blade wifi and do some changes regarding build.prop to save some battery. one of the most consumer of battery is the wifi.
on SE roms search for wifi every 15 seconds. on mine i change that to 380 sec and wolf around 200 (i think) so...could this be the cause of ????
i personally don`t believe removing blade will do any difference but...maybe those who had this issues try to change build.prop to 15sec ?
well we might be onto something...after installing Blade I was able to switch but I did not time it...seems to have taken quite some time though. I'll time it next time but I'm sure since it will vary because it looks like it runs a timer and I don't know what the details are.
I wonder if Z made the same changes to build.prop as you guys have. I would be interested in testing without this change.
Also, it would be great to know what Blade actually does. I wonder if it circumvents the changes you made to the intervals in build.prop.
Also, any idea as to whether we can use the WiFi component from the .435 build in these ROMs?
Ren,
Is it possible to go in and change the value in build.prop:
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=
Without reloading the ROM?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Yes.
Through root explorer. Just make sure you check all boxes on permitions and after that reboot.

OK. I've been watching what Blade does and all it seems to do is reinitialize the wifi. Seems overkill so I found this:
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/net/wifi/WifiConfiguration.Status.html
I want to write an app that will monitor configured networks and set their status to Enabled.
The challenge for me is that I've never developed an app before but I have the SDK installed and it recognized my x10 so I'm good to go. Ill try to get as far as I can but I will need some help. Is there anyone interested in offering themselves as a resource if/when I need some help?

[Solved] Wifi crashes every 10-15 sec

My wifi was alright with original 2.3.3 gingerbread. But after flashing to 4.0.2.A.0.42 it started to crash and reconnect every 10-15 sec. I thought that problem is with my router, tried to reset it, but the same problem.Connected with my Huawei u8650 and it worked fine. So i understood, that problem is with phones wifi. I searched the interned and all xda forum, but find nothing. So i ask for help.
Thanks.
Ensure you clear cache dalvik cache, data and full reset before flashing.
Suggest you wipe all user data, caches, dalvik indeed and then see if it happens again.
If it repeats then SE firmwares do have a history of having wifi problems, especially the 2.3.3 ones of 3.x.x..
Is there an echo on here?
+ Wifi fine on 2.3.4... OP is on .42 so no issue.
Could be wifi scan intervale

Settings-wifi-advanced-wifi sleep-never.
Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk
NO - You don't need to do that. WiFi will reconnect and stay connected perfectly well if setting is sleep with screen off. Or bye-bye battery life.
Their problems are more likely due to the way they updated their firmware. i.e. without a FULL reset and clearing data/cache (both caches). Or coming from a custom ROM or kernel. Or sh*te router.

i tried that too, but as i said, it also happens with the screen on, like talking via gTalk and the wifi disconnects and reconnects, when i bought the phone was in 2.3.3 and wifi worked great, even better than the iPod,so, this issue appeared with the .42 (2.3.4) update.
just installed the .62 update, i still have the Wifi Issues =/!
Just updated to .62 firmware, and i'm still having the wifi issue =/
How? Did you clear caches, full reset?

the teethering stops after the screen turns off because the default settings turn off the wifi after the screen is locked ( to save battery).
so go to settings and find the wifi sleep policy option. there you can change it to remain on even after the screen is turned off.
in reply to your other question-> minicm7 2.2.1 is the best rom out there ( at least thats my opinion).
Oh, man, thank you very much! Didnt know about this option, although I saw it months before. Now I have the right settings so dont need to change to different ROM
(minicm7 roxxxxs x) )

So, the same problem still remains. Searched and tested many different settings and still, after screen turned off, the wifi tethering stops working and all devices are disconnected.
And the best joke is, that there is NO wifi sleep policy option in phone settings (or I didnt find it there). Show me the way to that option please. THX
(the one I found was only "changing wifi to 3G")

btw. when using wifi tethering in girlfriends Galaxy Ace, there is no problem and all working great (even when screen sleeps). She got stock ROM with root only - no special settings!

Yeah, but it didnt work. Tested all three options and each working (including that NEVER) only when the screen is in standby or charger is plugged. When locked after half a minute wifi stops working - ALL OF THEM!
Any other advice or special option in cyanogenmod settings? Any patch or possibility to change some file in phone system?
It is great to have this feature everywhere "on-the-go", not only at home...
Stock Kernel
CWM Recovery
MiniCM6-1.0.2
App: Barnacle (rooted phone needed)
Wifi tethering works great (just WEP encryption, though)
App tethering not working - app starts, create AP, but cant connect to it with other devices... But thanks for advice to test it.
I'm using GingerDX | v029 never had problem using wifi/usb tethering :good:

Xperia U: very weird wifi problem

My girlfriends XU is acting up ultimately weird..
Since some time we have this problem:
Wi-Fi only works for about 3 minutes when connecting to a wifi signal, yet the wifi signal icon indicates as if it has a good connection. The only way to regain connection again is to reboot, but then the same problem repeats itself, after a few minutes wi-fi is not working anymore. Also in the wifi-indicator the "send" arrow works, the "receive" arrow doesn't.
Basically if you want to discover a new wi-fi connection you need to reboot the phone also, because otherwise the previous connected wi-fi signal remains (it freezes as stated before after about 3 minutes).
Tried a factory reset already.. Didn't work. The phone runs the stock sony android 4.0.4.
Any idea's ?

Have you tried to repair using SUS?
