SOLVED - Settings/Wireless & networks - Force closing.. Anyone else experience this?
So I noticed today that every time I try to go into "Wireless & networks" from within the settings menu, I get a force close and can not proceed any further. This means I cannot change any of my wireless settings including bluetooth, wifi, or wireless.
Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so, have you figured out how to fix it? I've already tried wiping the dalvik cache.
I'm using the 1.36.531.6 build, rooted and deodexed. It is android version 2.3.4 with Sense 3.0.
CONCLUSION - DO NOT DELETE NFC.APK.
I'm assuming you have rebooted? You could try and go to settings/applications/all and find "Settings" and delete the cache, which would require you to make any settings changes again.

Yes I've rebooted, deleted the dalvik cache, wiped the cache partition, went into settings/applications and wiped the cache for the settings app and even tried replacing the settings app from a different ROM version and I still persistently have the issue.
I am deleting several APK's from the base ROM before flashing though and perhaps one of those is what is causing my issues?
I suppose I'll try flashing the full ROM again and then remove 1 apk at a time and see if I find the culprit.
Update.. It appears that the NFC app is what I deleted that borked the Wireless Settings menu.
Sooooo.. With that being said.. Don't delete nfc.apk.

so i installed cm7 on my aria last night. continued to get force closings in face book etc...would be nice to also have the hearing aid function back on it. any suggestions.
I've been running CM7 for a while now without problems, but when the Facebook app was updated the other day I started getting some odd force closes. I am inclined to think that it's a FB issue, not a CM7 issue.

There have been reports of the latest update of the facebook application (1.5.3 so far) force closing and other problems and people said that they downgraded back to their older version and everything works fine.
New FB update will fc all day long. Revert back to 1.5.2.
Hello im kinda new to this so forgive my ignorance...

Any particular reason why you didn't flash the CM 7.0.3 stable release instead of an old RC?

http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=liberty
1) Boot into Clockworkmod
2) Wipe data/factory reset
3) Wipe cache partition
4) Advanced > Wipe dalvik cache
5) Partitions menu > format system
6) Install Cyanogenmod zip from sdcard
7) Install Google Apps zip from sdcard
8) Reboot
If you don't have a data plan, don't select "Use only 2G networks". You need to disable data completely or you're going to get charged for some data use even if you aren't doing anything. After the first boot when you do initial configuration it should give you the option to use wifi only. If not, you can uncheck "Data enabled" from Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks.

Hey guys, I have problems about wipe dalvik cache and general setting
first of all I flash KA10.2 which seems to work great for me, so today I decide to flash KA11 but I have the same system UI problems as everyone so I flash KA10.2 back. After I flash KA10..2 back, I can't download any app from play store and "insufficient storage on device" occur, so I decide to do a full wipe and re-flash KA10.2 again, but "insufficient storage on device" still occur and when I try to wipe dalvik cache, the screen flash and nothing happen, no confirmation. Another problem is that every time I turn off the phone and turn it on again, I have to set up my general setting every time. (Language, connection, account, sync just like the set up guide)
so do you have any solution or suggestion for me?
Thank you in advance
Don't know what to do, but download Lucky Patcher (used to patch paid apps, but also has a fix for the storage issue) and keep it with you installed.
Hello,
I recently flashed JellyBam ROM and updated from 2.0 > 3.0 > 3.1 > 3.2. I've also tried both the Dorimanx and the Siyah kernels, ensuring that I wipe cache/dalvik before flashing each. Everything had gone swimmingly and the ROM was/is terrific. However, since the latest update it appears that my default messaging application will no longer notify me of new messages (SMS). This doesn't appear to be a problem for anyone else.
I've checked the settings within the application (Notifications box is ticked and a ringtone is selected), and I've also checked the system settings > device > sound > default notification which has a ringtone selected.
Additionally, I have a widget called "Missed it!" installed which changes whenever I get a new SMS, but there is no notification / sound from the phone to acknowledge this.
I've reflashed the ROM after doing a 'wipe cache' and 'wipe dalvik cache' but to no avail. I've also tried to wipe the cache for the app from within the 'manage apps' section.
Any suggestions? Your time is greatly appreciated!
Regards
No ideas?
Bump...
Still nothing? Could someone move the query into the JellyBam thread on the i9100 page then please?
I cannot post in there yet as I haven't made 10 posts.
Download a new messaging app like GoSms.
Thanks for the response.
I used to use GO SMS, but since flashing the new ROM i found the default messaging app and it's theme to be pretty good.
Today, i've tried to do a factory wipe and re-flash the ROM but I used Titanium backup to reinstall my apps and the problem persists.
Im now a fan of whatsapp.Send pics for nowt.....
I also use Whatsapp, but it's still annoying that I cannot get the default messaging app to push notifications.
I am sorry i cannot help you in any way as i dont have a galaxy s2. But you can ask the rom developer to look into your problem.
I've fixed the problem now. Wasn't able to work out what the quick-fix was, so I ended up doing a complete factory wipe and reinstalling apps with Titanium Backup. Managed to download a Samsung App's apk that had "S-memo" so I have managed to save the memo's I had stored previously.
1. Clear Cache and Data
Try clearing the temporary storage area of your Contacts using these steps:
Go to Settings
Proceed to Application Manager
Select the All tab
Choose Contacts
Tap Clear Cache
Selecting Clear Data is optional since this will erase all the changes that you have made to some of your Phone app’s settings but it may solve the problem based on some users who have tried it.
Go back to the previous menu and choose Phone
Tap Clear Cache and Clear Data
2. Change Date Format
Go to Settings
Select More
Under Date and Time, change the format to 24 hours
3. Delete Rogue Apps
Start your phone under Safe Mode, observe if the problem occurs. If not, there is probably a third-party app causing the bug. Exit Safe Mode and try to recall the most recent app that you have installed prior to the problem. Disable it for a while to test whether the error still comes out.
4. Factory Reset or Flash Original Firmware.
Hey guys.
I have encountered an EXTREMELY frustrating problem with android 9/10.
I was messing with some options in my phone like 'data usage' and 'permissions' & disabling some apps using adb & greenify.
All of this was common stuff that I'd always mess with, on Oreo.
On oreo when my system apps 'wigged out' I could flash my stock rom a couple times and the system apps/services would go back to normal (Inactive).
On android 9/10 though, I notice that when these same system apps go haywire there is no way to reset them back to their default behavior.
My phone is running about 9 extra services than it should be (mostly samsung services). Also, my battery drain is draining about 25% faster than it should be.
Things I've tried:
1. Wipe data/factory reset.
2. Wipe cache.
3. Reset app preferences from app menu.
4. Reset all settings from reset menu.
5. Flashed firmware multiple times, using odin.
6. Flashed combination rom, to clear google data (this one fixed some of the rogue services, but not all of them).
7. Install combination rom and try factory reset from within the rom.
(Next, 8), I'm going to try Smart switch (PC) to reinstall firmware.
Some of the rogue services I'm referring to:
com.qualcomm.atfwd
com.qualcomm.embms
SVC Agent
Call & text on other devices
com.sec.imsservice:CloudMessageService
android:drmService
Software update
Bluetooth service
Samsung Push Service
Smart Switch (fixed by #6)
Samsung cloud (fixed by #6)
Find my mobile (fixed by #6)
(All these were inactive by default, but after disabling some samsung system apps these are now permanently stuck on).
(I'd like to remind you, I could fix all of the above services from running on oreo, with a simple double firmware flash).
I'm thinking I need to wipe my "system partition", but without root this seems almost impossible.
Has anyone encountered this issue before?
Does anyone know how to wipe/format system partition without root?
Any other suggested ideas would be huge. Thanks.
