Just thought you would like to know that the HTC Evo view 4g is selling for only $230 at 1saleaday.com/wireless. This price does not require a contract (though it is the version that you could take to sprint and get mobile connectivity with). Just for comparision's sake, Sprint is selling this for $249 ON contract, or $399 off contract (and those are pretty much the lowest prices I have found otherwise.
I hope this helps someone.

I saw this in my email too but man single cores are so yesterday. But i was tempted for a bit. I bought an Acer a100 for $248 at fry's 2 weeks ago. This htc one is nice that it has 3g/4g though.

Sale is over, so it isn't that price anymore.
I will give you a bit of an idea of how much demand there is for this product. I posted this at a forum called spurstalk.com (in the subforum about tech) and I posted this here. Between the threads on the two forums only one person posted before the sale was over and it was an apple fan over on Spurstalk who went in to say that the evo view 4g was a good deal for girls.
Lots of interest in this thing. LOL

Lmao I played with one the time I went before Xmas to get a phone for my wife Xmas present I had to upgrade I honeycomb cause apparently the employees didn't have enough time 4G is strong where I live so it took like 5-unites to download the 250mb file , and is no a bad device just the price is too expensive for the size of a tablet , people can get an iPad for 500$ or a kindle fire for 200$ so htc needs to get some work done
I picked one up for about the same price at an earlier sale a few weeks ago. If what you're looking for is basically a reading and Web browsing device, this thing's actually pretty worthwhile. Far superior to my Kindle Fire, for instance. Better screen contrast, smoother page turns, nicer hand feel. And quite snappy and responsive, despite the single core processor (honestly, I'm not sure I buy into the dual-core hype for this category of devices). I'd never have paid the original $400 asking price, of course, but for $230 this was a more than decent value.
Thanks for sharing

Hey guys, this might be an odd question, but will the Evo 3d cost the same (with contract) ad the Nexus S? Will it lower the Nexus S's price at all, when it comes out?
Bet a buck it will cost more than the nexus... And it really should when you compare the two.
As for lowering the price of the nexus? Sorry. Not gonna happen. Only time will lower the price

If both phones were released at the same time then i agree, but they weren't. As technology advances every year it doesn't mean that new stuff is going to cost more simply because its newer. Cpu/memory/gpu's advance every year yet they always cost the same as the previous generation.

The OP was asking first if we thought the 3D would cost the same as the Nexus S 4G... So to be sure I'm not misunderstanding you, you think the NS4G and the Evo 3D will both cost 200$ on contact on their respective release days?
Heck, the Evo 4G was 299$ with contact at release unless you were lucky enough to get the rebate

There were few at first, but quickly disappeared when amazon and best buy etc started advertising. Honestly folks come on....who cares? If that 100 really does matter to that degree perhaps buying a new mobile phone is NOT the best thing for you to do. Buying any of the top of the line latest greatest thing is a luxury and definately not a necessary thing. I'm fortunate enough to have a job that pays in relation to my expenses that i will buy this day 1. However I could get the same thing in a go phone at walmart. They both make calls and both work very well. If this phone takes food from you kids do yourself a favor man and pay your bills not buy something you don't need. If that isn't an issue to you then simply try em both out if your not sure. Bet that 100 that most will choose HTC. Samsung is improving and seem to be trying really hard, but fact is fact. HTC makes the superior product to date.
I'm considering getting the flyer for xmas.
I noticed at bestbuys website it says "no shipping" and when I check to see if they have it in stock locally it doesn't show up.
I am not hard set on getting it yet, because I'm really wondering if I just want a new toy and it will sit collecting dust after a few weeks of usage..
Or I will seriously use it for ereading/manga purposes.
I'm sure HTC is not manufacturing any more, but that's normal for companies to make a big production run and then move on to the next new device. So whatever stock was out there , when its gone , its gone. Looks like BB is out, so I only see them on other sites now. I guess some of the carriers like Tmob and Sprint still have the 3g/4g versions in stock.
it does sort of suck they haven't officially announced that they are no longer manufacturing it.
Oh well..
Most, or perhaps all manufacturer don't keep assembly lines open just to pump out a few more units. They make a big run, take a look at initial sales and either make one more run or switch over to new hardware. They don't need to announce it, that's just the only way to keep prices competitive. And the hardware guys don't make money selling old products at a reduced price. 6 months is old news in hardware
true.. I may see if I can use the "ship to store option" and see if they can get one..
If not.. oh wells.
Have you considered getting the EVO View 4G? They have brand new ones for $299 (was $275 over Thanksgiving week) which includes shipping and no tax outside of FL.
http://reaganwireless.com/htc-evo-view-tablet.php
FYI, I'm not associated with this company and it was posted previously by others. IMO it's a great deal.
Best buys have recently told me that they may be ordering more. There's still hope for late-comers like me.
I'm sure HTC or some wholesalers has a pile of them somewhere in a warehouse. Like the few hundred tech4less dumped over the weekend at $199.
Well I really wish they would just mark it as "sold out" and take away the add to cart option so we would know.
Small update, I emailed HTC and they said they have no knowledge of the flyer being discontinued.. so something is fishy on the bestbuy side..
I ordered the HTC EVO View 4G from here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150705761318#ht_840wt_1396, $314.00 and free shipping, though I noticed today there's another for $309.00, also with free shipping, here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-H...US_Tablets&hash=item2a1583150e#ht_4654wt_1163
It's cheaper than Regan Wireless' $329.00 price right now. He seems to have a pretty good amount. I also plunked down for the SquareTrade warranty.
That's a stock answer form HTC on almost every question. You can just about be guaranteed that HTC has not been manufacturing any Flyers since May 2011. THat would be standard procedure. Whatever their production number was, that's what supply exist. They did make another run of the View / 4g for Sprint.
You really don't think that Best Buy can say to HTC , hey we need another 2000 Flyers and HTC is going to go "snap" sure we will spend another $500k setting the assembly line back up just for your tiny order".
Guess i got mine just in time I thought it was something to do with floods in Thailand
Or maybe they're just backordered. This has happened a couple times in the last few months and somehow they always seem to reappear. If you can get it shipped to the store in 3-5 days from BestBuy that means it's still available.

The production line hasn't manufactured Flyers in a while.
It's obvious HTC is not very enthusiastic about the tablet market. Afterall, the profit margin on smartphone is much higher than the cut-throat tablet markets.

You slow, you blow. I was all set to spend $299 at Best Buy but their people are incompetent. I got a new flyer for $174 from Tech For Less.
I've been watching the web, ebay, craigslist, and tech store's sites for a few weeks now, hoping to score an HTC Flyer at a great price. No luck so far. Was going to use wi-fi only so I don't care about carrier.
But I must be missing something. Best Buy has them for $299 brand new, but they consistently sell for hundreds MORE than that on Ebay. What am I missing?
Depends on your Craigslist locale. Here in NYC, I see them from 225 to 270. The black Sprint versions, Evo View 4g models go a bit higher cause of the built in 3g/4g and 32gb storage. EBay deals have had the Sprint version for $240 on several occasions now, keep looking.

Pretty sure Best Buy should have dropped them down to compete with the Nook and Kindle even though this Tablet is soo much better.

This wonderful tablet is a victim of marketing.
Dual core craze is all the rage. I opted to pay 50$ more over the nook tab because I know the 1.5 single core provided a lot of competition for anything you want on a tablet...
This tablet is a hidden gem and it is a shame to see it discontinued. I had to jump through hoops for mine though.
RIP Flyer. This tablet is the only tablet that plays Yoo Ninja without lag.
Their are many Android tablets but their is only one HTC Flyer. Don't despair HTC is going to release a tegra 3 based tablet with the HTC Scribe tech in it

Pardon my ignorance here but "discontinued" does not mean that HTC has officially dropped support for the tablet? It only means that Best Buy is not selling it anymore?
I think it's because T-Mobile and Sprint are selling their Versions of this Tablet. I I got the one from Sprint (HTC EVO View 4G), and waiting for my E-Bat purchase to get here. I Got it for $274 and Free Shipping. I Should have it by Sat. WorstBuy ONLY cares about the Apple products and 10" Android Tablets.
I also think once the Nook Tablet and Kindle Fire came out they decided against ANOTHER 7" Device. Plus the still sell the Playbook (which I Have too). The HTC EVO View just got Honeycomb as well within the last couple of days.
Can't US citizens still buy it from european stores that ship to the US anyway?
I didn't realize it was discontinued, I guess that explains the $299 price I saw at BBY today. I am on the fence between the Flyer vs Nook Tablet. I know dual-core vs single core and honestly what I want is a well rounded tablet that can web, game, read .pdf magazines etc.
So IS the Flyer still worth the money, I ask that not because its discontinued, but because I want the honest opinions.
The best part of my BBY visit was the employee telling a customer that the iPad has the easiest OS to use and he was looking at the kindle fire. I spoke up, gave my .02 since I have owned about 9 phones this year including (1) BBOS 7, (1) WP7, (1) iOS and about (7) Android phones, so yeah I prefer Android but had to check out the other parts of the OS world.

Buy the HTC Flyer it performs like a Champ. I can honestly say it one of the beast pieces of technology I have bought in a long time. Also get the scribe pen if you can it is a great addition.
The discontinuation is worldwide. Currys/PC World here in the UK (like BestBuy) reduced their stock for the 32GB Wi-Fi to £199 ($320) here & are mostly sold out, Three the mobile network are giving you it for £99 ($160) with 15GB of data for £20 ($32) a month while T-Mobile UK are giving it away for free for £20 ($32) a month for 2GB of data...
I went back to BBY and none of the local stores actually have them, the one store did have a display model which he agreed was stupid if they don't have any to sell.
I wouldn't mind a 32GB UK version if I could get one, so now that I ready the US version has a microsd slot, where exactly is it. The BBY employee was clueless about it. Do any BBY stores have these still?
I tried to look for one but I couldn't find one. Should of pick one up when I had a chance. Oh well.

eBay seems to be the only place to find them now. Unless of course you pop over to www.mobilecityonline.com they have a 32GB 3G/WiFi model for 394.99, it's an open box return but still not bad.
The WiFi only model is still around $450+ in the few places I could find them online and for that money I can get a Asus Transformer.
Believe it or not I bought a Best Buy Flyer for 210.00 all in
One of the best online purchases Ive come across
I'm one of the lucky ones I guess
So I got a Nook Tablet.... Seems pretty useless to spend $250 on a pseudo-tablet with out the extras like camera, gps, etc. So I'm returning it and found the htc flyer to be a decent device in the same range but with the extras.
Initial reviews show the main downside was cost but I figure now it would be selling cheaper as its a bit dated. To my amazement, most htc flyers are selling 16GB used for $330+ on ebay.
By chance I decided to search for the Evo View 4G as its pretty much the same thing, just Sprint branded. Somehow they are selling 32GB for $289 Brand new and sealed with no contract?!
How is that possible?
Used 16GB - Flyer Wifi only - $330
New 32GB - Evo View Wifi with optional 4G - $289
Am I missing something? Even if you don't have Sprint or want 4G... the 32GB wifi only part is a hell of a better deal.
I feel like I'm missing something here but can't see anything. The specs are the same for everything else.
It's because there have been several sales online since the end of November that have had the EVO View priced at $230-$250 brand new with no contract. The Flyer hasn't seen sale prices that low from several places like the View. Because of that, there are more of the View out there on the secondary market at a lower price point.
happy to see a nook tablet owner in this forum even though you're returning it. I can't return mine as it was donated as a development unit.
I bought mine for $240. And then the next week it was selling for $220 somewhere else. I was like

I would be more then happy to pick one up for $240 right now...You still got a good deal.
I also picked it up for $240 from 1saleaday on eBay. Best thing to do is keep an eye out on techbargains.com or dealnews.com or fatwallet... They usually list when these go up cheap. Amazon has the pen for $60.00.... so 32gb with pen for $300 works, it's pretty fast, honeycomb is nice but they could have provided a better option for the capacitive(sp) buttons.
Other than that, I don't want to root or play around with anything so I opted to pay $29.99 for a one time service (one week, 500mb) figure it'd be a good way to test and see if I want mobile network service too. There are pre-paid plans as low as $14.99 though.
I think a lot less people know about the View so the demand is less. There is also confusion over the name, I have purchased 2 different charging cables that said they for the HTC Evo View 4g but neither were, I guess they were for the HTC Evo 4g.
I was looking at the Nook Tablet, but once I read about the locked bootloader and started comparing it to the other 7" tablets it just wasn't worth it, for me anyways. So I noticed the HTC Flyer and felt the $299 was fair enough, but of course BBY doesn't sell it and my local stores don't have them in stock but they STILL have a display unit out. Idiots!!!!
So I went to eBay and as another member here noticed the prices for HTC Flyers were $300+ for new and I happily found an Evo View for $289 NIB and got that. Now I know that I need to root and tweak a bit (boot script to kill off the 3G/4G radios on bootup) but I would rather have the extra memory AND black color vs the BBY version.
Definitely check out the View its worth it.

I guess one could say that a lack of demand is the indirect reason for the current price difference the OP is seeing on eBay. The reason for the current price difference is all of the cheap sales that the View had during the month of December. But one would assume that the reason for the sales during the month of December was a lack of demand for the tablet through Sprint.
It's interesting that everyone keeps speculating on why such a price difference exists when there isn't any need for speculation - it's because the View was sold in several sales last month for $230-$250 brand new with no contract. The Flyer hasn't been sold that cheaply. People bought extras of the View and are turning a small profit on the secondary market at a price where the demand exists.

Yeah, but those were open box/refurbished. And the important part here is that was only one sale from one company. The View was sold by several different companies on several different dates throughout December, as I pointed out in my first post in this thread. And I'm sure there weren't many of the Flyers available in that sale. There were thousands of the View for the multiple sales it saw. If the Flyer had been available that cheaply from several sources on multiple occasions, it would definitely be going for a cheaper price than the View is right now on the secondary market.
But that was definitely a good price on the Flyer.
I had a Nook Color and I have to say I like the view better. It does have the same yellowish panel as the NC. I'm liking HC on it. HCis not perfect and has some annoyances but performance wise it does seem an improvement over GB.
If only Sprints network was better in my area.

The Flyer was available for sale cheaper than the View (to my knowledge) end of story
How much is a used, refurbished or open box View going for then?
I'd wager that most folks wouldn't have considered a Flyer or View due to the original pricing which was a bit too high (in my estimation at least) for a 7" tablet.
I just bought a HTC Flyer for 240 on craigslist. Although I know I got lucky because most add were from 280 to 330. But I think I have the European flyer. Is there any differences?
