[Q] Faking galaxy s2 as galaxy s - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, first thread
I searched a lot but could not find a thread on the topic
What I need to know is: can i use galaxy s boot animation on galaxy s2 by replacing bootlogo.qmg and bootanimation.qmg in /system/media? I mean are they compatible with s2?
Also which of these two have the model number in it (i9100 or i9000)?
You might be thinking why am i doing this?
Actually i want to fake my s2 as galaxy s(i9000) for certain reason, i just need to change the model number shown while booting, if you have any other good idea than please feel free to suggest.
Thanks

Rooting Samsung Galaxy s2 telus?

hi
has anyone been successfull at rooting this phone?. I read it's the same as t-mobile version but I couldn't find any thread saying someone did.
would it work using DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT one click program?..
thanks
You could try it;Most likely it would work. It works on approximately 8 variants (listed in it's thread) of the Samsung Galaxy SII, so yours should be included.

Samsung Galaxy Trend

I have a Galaxy Trend GT-S7560 but can't find anything about rooting or modding, like roms etc.
When I search I find things for Galaxy Ace II with the same GT-S7560 number?
I don't get it...?
Why were my posts deleted without notification?
And as stated earlier, i'm also interested in this. I also have a Samsung Galaxy Trend S7560 and i wish to root it in the near future.
PS: Dear mods: if you delete my post again, at least notify me why.
galaxy trend and ace 2x are (near) identical to eachother, but completely different from the ace 2.
You could try this to root it --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35068890&postcount=23
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, i know they are different phones, but for some reason, Samsung is using the same designation name for both of them (mistake on their end?).
I will try this method when the time is right (a little ways further into my warranty).
Quetion: Cmw Recovery
Where I can find cwm Recovery stable for samsung Galaxy Trend Plus gt-s 7580L? I searched many times and I can't find nothing

Galaxy Trend GT-S7560M compatibility

Hello,
it appears that the S7560M is a problematic problem, despite being more and more popular, we still have no own forum, not clear way of rooting no clear way of acting on andro changes,
this is a request to all users, to share in request for clear info on this device.
info here:
http://www.gsmchoice.com/en/catalogue/samsung/gts7560/
ps. i see this phone often reffered as Galaxy Ace IIx or single-sim version of Galaxy Duos (the later seems to be truth), some clarification on this would also be usefull
bump?

Samsung galaxy s3 straight talk

Hey all, I'm fairly new to all this, I rooted my galaxy s3 and I don't know where to go from here, I want to change my whole user interface and delete bloatware and make my phone go as fast as possible. Any help would be appreciated!
Model number sch- s968c
Baseband s968cuduanh2
Android v. 4.1.2
Can some one help me out please?

if that's your phone https://swappa.com/specs/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-straight-talk then you should look at the verizon (probably, don't know what's straight talk is tbh) section of the S3 as your phone comes with a Snapdragon instead of Samsung's own Exynos.
edit: this thread here might be some help for you as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674350

galaxy s2 stuck at startup scren

Guys,
I purchases a 'damaged' s2 for a few bucks. When it starts, it only shows the galaxy s gt-19000 samsung screen. So i think there is no rom available.
Can i update a new rom through Odin3? If so, which rom should i use and how should i configure Odin3?
thanks for the help.

Hi,
Yes you can flash stock ROM via Odin. If you can boot into the OS after flashing, then you should be able to root your phone then flash custom ROMs via recovery.
gsstudios
Are you sure it's an S2? The gt-i9000 you mention would indicate that it isn't.....
(It *should* say gt-i9100)
If you're *positive* it's an S2 and you are *definitely* seeing gt-i9000 on startup, then somebody has flashed it incorrectly with a Galaxy S(1) rom/firmware.
Not sure if that's going to affect the recovery of the device (partition layout likely to be different).

many thanks for thh reply, i am not positive its a s2, bought it as a s2 though. They both look the same for me. The only galaxy i had was a S3
i do know that , at boot, it tells it is a gt-I9000
What does the sticker under the battery say it is?

It also shows gt i9000

Then it would appear that you have the Galaxy S(1) and not the Galaxy S2.

for all the guides you need to modify your device.....
But as @gsstudios says, first you need to flash your device with an official firmware.....no use trying to root if your device don't boot.....

perfect, thanks
