I need to push two files with ADB into my phone's data/local folder.
What's the command for this?
gfree
hboot.dhd.nb0
Those are the two files.
They are already in ADB directory I just need to push them to my phone's data/local folder.
Thanks.

As long as its in $PATH and not in sdcard (no exec permissions) it should work.
What you trying to compile if you dont mind me asking?

have used his binary to but same problem.
Worked fine for me, i just followed instructions in the file INSTALL.
remount system rw
Copy john to /system/xbin
chmod 0755 /system/xbin/john
cd to user directory included in the download.
john...and it worked.
You doing anything different to the above? It *should* be working for you.

So I flashed the wrong .zip and now SystemUI.apk is force-closing. Rather than reflash the ROM I'm just going to replace SystemUI.apk using adb (I happen to have the ROM unzipped on my laptop), but want to make sure I have the procedure right.
Reboot to recovery
Then
adb shell
su
rm system/app/SystemUI.apk
exit
And then to push the SystemUI.apk
just
adb push SystemUI.apk system/app/SystemUI.apk
reboot
Do I need to mount system as writable before all of this?
Yes I believe you do
You could put the system.apk into a flashable zip by itself and flash that tho
Less room for error

Now I'm wondering if the permissions will be all mucked up if I just push the file. Is there a way to set permissions in adb?
never mind, got it, chmod 644 system/app/SystemUI.apk
Worked too!

Adb remount will mount as rrw and you don't have to set permissions the folder already has it. You can also just use a root file explorer app to place it in their

Hi CDA folks, I am trying to revive white Pandigital using ADB commands to push files on the system's folder of the device then flashing them.
The computer sees the device, adb has root access, yet when trying to push files is gives me an error indication that the system/data/midc is a read only.
tried adb remount over and over with no lick. Is there any other way to get to write on the system folder?
did you try
adb shell
su ?

Use the name of the Rom. For example. If the Rom name is cm10. You type adb sideload cm10.zip

open platform-tools(or the folder where adb is found) shift + right click on any empty space, you will find "open command prompt here" press on it, then type ADB devices, if it is read, simply type " adb sideload " then drag and drop the rom zip into the command prompt. it will automatically write its location and prevent the spelling mistakes.
IF: ADB devices can't read your device try the following:
1-Try another usb port, if you tried 2.0 then try 3.0 and vice versa.
2- If you are on windows vista or above, open start menu and search for cmd, right click on it and run as administrator, however you will have to cd to the platform tools location, " cd C:\Android\sdk\platform-tools " then you type in adb devices should read your device fine now. however running cmd as admin prevents the drag and drop technique (atleast here on windows 8.1 it does) so you have to type in the location of your rom and rom name correctly, and dont forget the .zip

Since we have the stupid s-on, your choice of custom kernels is very limited and they make almost no difference, if you are on viper rom which is sense based, you can use the stock kernel (I THINK<<< Not sure) or insertcoin kernel's , but no they don't make any difference as far as i know. Try and see
