End up installed using the apk from post 3. Google currents is amazing
the market version is USA only
Works fine on my EVO View. Debating which will be my go to app now, Currents or Pulse
The UI in Currents is pretty dope I must say, but Pulse seems to be better at updating the various feeds

You can change the timing on updates. Mine was defaulted to only update when charging when I installed, and to only check every 6 hours.
So far, I think currents blows pulse away. Time will tell.
I never used the Andriod version of Pulse... didn't to pay for it.
I thought the iPad version allowed you to add your own RSS feeds...
Hopefully Google builds in the functionality to sync or import Reader feeds.

the ability to add feeds from Google Reader is already there (add, scroll down to "Google Reader") :S
what i find shocking (or loling) is that you can't mark items as read, just like on Pulse, which makes both apps nothing more than eye candy, or only useful for people who just want a cursory glance at what's happening in the world and aren't really concerned about content
In case you haven't noticed lately the average attention span for media users these days appears to be about half that of the common fruit fly, so eye candy is exactly what most apps are trying to achieve.

You're right. I guess I didn't get that far down the list...
Interesting what they do with this... maybe something for Google TV.
Hmm, nice app. I think that I still prefer Pulse and Feedly, though.

Overall I'm liking it better than Pulse. To me, Pulse is better at updating the feeds you add manually, that arent already there from their selection of content.
For me, these feeds in Google Currents, updating a bit slower regardless of how often I set it to update to.
For example, I read ProPublica. On Friday at 6 pm. I updated the ProPublica app, as well as add it to my Pulse and Currents feed.
The app showed 4 new articles posted on Friday. Pulse had all of these available , while Currents only had the first two articles of that day.
Later on that evening, when I checked again, Currents had all 4 posts from Friday
I am noticing that more as well, even when I manually check for updates. I still like the layout of currents better, but when I am bored with nothing to read, I still find myself going to pulse when my currents aren't updating.

So far I've tried
Twicca
Twidroyd
Twitter (official)
I'm currently using Twicca but I'm not sure if I'm completely in love with it yet, nor any of the other two. I feel like I was spoiled by Echofon on the iPhone.
My favorites are Seesmic and Tweetcaster. I'm currently liking TweetCaster a little bit better.
I use Touiteur. I have tried the official twitter app and twitdroid but like Touiteur best.
Tuiteur, hands down... Amazing developer, tons of options, nice ui, preview of pics, all the services you expect, long press on a tweet to open links... On and on...
Only con is the name (french developer)... I always butcher the spelling.
I'm a bit of a twitter newbie, but I prefer the official one.

Typos, incorrect words, gibberish, and other nonsense brought to you courtesy of Swype.
I like Tweetdeck, even in its beta form.
I just tweet, RT and send direct messages..got that i use an old app called "Twidgit"
it runs only as a widget, its free but its not on the market anymore.
if you need something light on the resources, you should try that.
TweetDeck takes all even in beta form hands down!
+1 For Tweetdeck, great app. The UI is plain and kinda fugly and I'm hoping for a widget but it works the best out of any app I've used.
Touiteur for me..has the best widget

It was Touiteur for me, but I'm a fan of Tweetdeck on my PC and it looks like they are gonna take my Android slot as well.

here's another vote for Touiteur
I'm about 50/50 on the Tweetdeck beta and Touiteur. Used Touiteur for 6-8 months, best of all I tried - when the Tweetdeck beta came out I started using that for a bit, but at the moment I'm back to Touiteur.
I like Tweetcaster a lot, and didn't like the official Twitter app, Twydroid, or Tweetdeck.
Here's my dilemma.
Between 8 and 5pm, I don't get a signal while at work so I don't check twitter. so I check it in the morning, and then after work, usually 9-10 hours between checking. On my old iPhone, I used an app called Tweetie and I loved it. It would remember my last read tweet in my timeline, and would load all new tweets on top of it, so I could simply scroll UP from my last read tweet and see all the subsequent new ones, in a nice neat sequential order from oldest to newest as I scrolled from bottom to top.
What I hate about all the other twitter apps I've used on Android so far is that I can't find one that works in the same manner as Tweetie. With Tweetcaster, given how long I go without checking tweets I have to "Load More" at least twice, and then it auto-scrolls to the very top and shows the newest tweet. I then have to scroll down to the last tweet I read, find the correct spot, and then work my way up. I find it annoying.
Tweetdeck Beta had an option called "Remember my place in Timeline" or something like that, but it never worked.

I have used gReader pro and the free version on my vibrant. Both are really slow especially while updating. My phone usually hangs in the middle of updating this app for feeds. The developer says that vibrant users need to use lag fix to correct the problem. How do I go about solving this problem.
gReader
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-noinnion-android-greader-reader-jmEip.aspx
Any inputs? Thanks
I am not sure how to fix your issue, but google has their own reader app in the market now. You could try that. Sorry I cant be more of a help.
Sent from my Samsung Vibrant running 2.2 with a gingerbread theme.
I have used the official google app for google reader as well. As a matter of fact I still have it installed...but like the gReader app better due to its interactive interface and small size font which enables me to see more feeds on the screen. Also the official app uses external browser to fully read a feed which I dislike.
if the official one is performing better, the app must be bogged down. complain in the market, or email the developer of the app. they do listen most of the time. you might get results in an update.
edit: and by complain, I mean report your problem in a respectful manner.
I went from gReader to the official Google Reader app and I love the official much more. NewsRob isn't my favorite either. I'd suggest trying the official one for a bit and seeing how you like it. I'm a huge RSS fan so this was my own personal solution.
for all of the lag fixes and oc and all that i've tried, the number one solution for speeding up performance of apps like this (that use a lot of memory operations to /data) is this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=727279
i use method 1 listed there and it works perfectly, i do it every time. do have to watch space, but it works well.
Since my phone is unrooted and my ignorance to these technicalities, I starts using the official Google reader app and im loving it in just a day.
Thanks.

I liked neither apps so I've been using FeedR from the market. It's fast and allows offline reading to a degree. Even though it's not free, it's inexpensive and totally worth it IMO. It reads straight from the Google Reader website. If you've already got your RSS feeds setup there, it can just import them after you login. I'd say try it for 24 hours and refund it if you don't like it. Before anyone asks, no I'm not the developer or of any affiliation.
Lag fix should fix that problem, try it.
Throughout the forums there seem to be fairly conflicting reports about CM7 for the Touchpad, it crashes a lot, it mostly works, lots of apps don't work, most common apps do work.
Basically, how reliable is CM7?
I don't use too many apps, so for me it would mainly be for:
- Browser
- Gmail
- Google Docs
- Facebook
- Twitter
- Spotify
- Swiftkey (does the tablet version work?)
Oh, and the official Touchpad Bluetooth Keyboard.
Would I get a good experience out of the current build?
Some answers after 5 days using CM:
-in my case, no SOD, but it seems to vary
- dolphin hd (browser) works nicely
- SwiftKey x tablet also good
- 2 random reboots in 5 days
- facebook ok if you use fake gps to Set up your location (otherwise it crashes)

I have the official hp touchpad keyboard. It works really well once you get it paired. When it ask for the code on the tp put in 0000 then hit ok. As soon as your done hit 0000 on the the keyboard then hit enter. You have to do this really fast while the tp is running the ring on the screen getting ready to pair it. Good luck

One of the most stable "alphas" I've seen, more of a beta. Running Alpha2, a couple times a day I might have to cycle Airplane mode to get wifi back. This seems more frequent if hopping multiple APs. A couple apps you listed have issues;
- Google Docs - current version FCs, had to sideload old version 1.0.4r (search the forum, there are discussions on this)
- Facebook - FCs unless you run a fake gps app first
This morning I had to power cycle it to get touchscreen back, but even so I feel no urge to reboot into WebOS.

The Google Docs App force closed on me today when i downloaded/installed it.
Camera doesnt seem to work, it also force closes.
Had a few SODth but saw a thread earlier today about installing an ap (softlocker) and its helped thus far.
No random reboots for me. Ive been running CM7 alpha2 since last Thurs
Everything except wifi is fairly reliable. I only have secured networks, so wifi constantly crashes for me. I'd wait for the next release if it was important to you.

As for me,
1. Market sometimes FC when installing (not a big deal)
2. Wifi drops occasionally and need manual reconnecting
3. Battery drain during sleep, at the rate of around 2 to 3% per hour
4. Scrolling a bit jerky for a dual core 1.5GHz device
5. Facebook FC without FakeGPS
Otherwise everything is working so far. But then I haven't tested everything.

I only got mine last night and got CM7 loaded within minutes of opening it. I had some problems with wireless until I switched mine to channel 6 from channel 11. It ran solid as a rock for a few hours until I shut it down for the night.
Renders all my various size and density photos (all JPG) quickly and very crisply.
Netflix ran good.
Youtube was okay.
My mp4s encoded for my Nook Color were all messed up (played but video was whacky, striped accross the screen, these play great on webOS)
Plays my MP3 without issue (need to move my album art over from my Nook Color)
Quadrant scores are pretty low (low 2000's) only due to the FPS graphics not being optimized (GPU acceleration probably is not finished.)

Browser is meh. But 3rd party Opera is fantastic. Nearly as smooth as safari on ipad.
Gmail is fantastic.
Google Docs is great.
Facebook sucks if you don't install a fakegps app or the older 1.5.2 apk that didn't need GPS.
Twitter's great..
Thats all I know. But I do know that the camera doesn't work (on EITHER of my CM Touchpads) and that each of mine have also had a random shutdown and refused to wake up (without me long pressing the power/home buttons repeatedly)... but that being said... very sweet stable for an Alpha. In fact, I think it's more stable than my phone, also on CM. And more importantly, it's better than WebOS if only for the app selection.
Compared to web os its 100% better some bugs but I haven't booted into web os since the first alpha.

have SOD's despite the fact that i've tried every work around i could find... actually the last one was probably due to the fact that the work around drained the battery... between that and the wifi i've pretty much given up on it until a more stable for me release. it is in very good shape though. i liked having a netflix tablet for a bit. wish HP had made it 16:9 but oh well.
anyway since you can dual boot i really dont' see any reason for people not to put it on there. Pulse newsreader is so damn cool on a tablet

Just installed yesterday and very impressed for an alpha build. Only get FCs for market and Facebook but realised that i need the fake gps. Did have to reboot the first time as apps wouldn't install saying i had no space. On the whole i like it and especially adobe reader as its miles more quicker and better quality than the WebOS version. But i do miss the WebOS interface so i can see what apps i'm running and throwing the cards away to close the app.
If you are on the official honeycomb update, could you please confirm which apps do not work properly. What about gameloft ones, they are notorious for the compatibility.
Asphalt 6 works great on rooted WiFi flyer with the latest honeycomb release
Only one I have a problem with out of my usual ones (list too big) is BBC iPlayer, and that just seems to be down to BBC themselves not adding the HC Flyer on the compatibility list yet.
I have noticed the lack of the old Google News and Weather app but found that in the forum after a quick search http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695349. It also works fine.
Edit: I have noticed that Google Earth has problems. The lower buttons for Look around and Zoom controls are missing, presumably under the new bottom bar! This is probably due to the same problem as in the PocketCloud thread, however they are fixing PocketCloud in next update.
ive found all my "borrowed" gameloft games have been removed by hc drm ,all worked flawlessly on gb.
bit o a bummer, dunno anyway to get round it just yet.
dont seem to be able to buy anything on market, just keeps saying update my cc details and voids the sale.
nothing wrong with my payment details tho.maybe they dont like uk anymore.
the builtin market with the official hc update doesnt seem to find much for the flyer and yet when using ffox, opera etc to go direct to market all the top stuff is there to see.
bit confuddled by it at the moment, wait for a way to root it n go from there i guess.
Couple of app incompatabilities
So far ive found a couple of issues with apps on my honeycomb flyer compared to my honeycomb galaxy tab 8.9.
ADW Launcher EX (see attached image)
1. The app drawer button that should be in the upper left is missing
2. the buttons on the top right for search, add widgets, wallpaper, etc are missing
3. The main app dock does not rotate to bottom of the screen in landscape mode
Astro File Manager
1. App menu bar at the top of the screen is missing, looks almost like its been pushed off the top because of resolution rather than scaling
Im sure there are more, but those are the apps i tend to use the most that are not stock htc apps.
Anyone have any ideas on the ADW launcher issues? i would really like to use that one because of the dock (really miss the persistent shortcuts on every screen like the flyer GB sense had)
Oops, this didn't come up in my search. I started one too, sorry

You have not done much research before throwing these out there. You can't just install the old app from a GB backup...,
just off the top of my head:
dolphin, weatherbug and swiftkey have tablet version , work on the HC flyer
dropbox, pulse, read it later, ebay and twitter works on the HC flyer
I run these on my HC flyer so your report that they don't work is incorrect
Perhaps you have not done a proper install of HC or the apps.
thanks for the update. When I first saw that there was a update available, I wondered if it was real... I got one that was fake a few weeks ago and nearly bricked my flyer.
Then...in the.notes for the updates I didnt see anything to tell me that I needed to uninstall anything. Perhaps it is a well known thing that you have to do that.

If you are going from GB to HC all of your apps should have been wiped. Don't try to reinstall from a Titanium backup of GB , that will cause all sorts of havoc on your HC , just install apps from the market fresh.

AVG? really? The reason they don't update it is that there are virtually no viruses out there and it really useless unless you are downloaded black market garbage.
Yep. But it's not just an antivirus app. It has app backup functionality. Also scans for spam texts, safe search on web, & a phone locator. I used AVG because I use it on my laptop. I prefer pro versions of any app, even if its just to remove ads.

Whats the big deal about it? It's a rss reader with a flip animation.
Android version is "OK" my Ipad one still way better. then the fact that it only stays in portrait mode sucks. flipboard on Android is a little too late to the party. Google currents already has it beat by far and is more polished and has more features. I have flipboard installed but I'm sticking with Google Currents. Flipboard wins for content and aesthetics IMO - content being the most important to me. Currents does do a better job of formatting articles once you click on them.

clipboard for android only being able to be used in portrait mode kills it for me. I'd say Google currents has better content. plus flipboard pictures look all blurry. still need more polishing. once they add landscape support. ill check it out more. but Google currents has more articles THST show for each one you pull up. I mean real site or magazine articles. not tweeter feeds n such.
The issue of content is pretty individual depending on one's areas of interest. For instance flipboard has several running magazines whereas currents had none.
