Fm radio app ? - HTC Rezound

Hey guys I am new to the rezound, just got it today!! Anyways, I know on some previous android phones there was an fm radio app available to use with your headphones acting as an antenna. Is there an fm radio apk out there that will work for this phone ?
Thanks

I want to say that FM Radio was for Moto phones only, but I might be completely off on that. I doubt that we'll be able to add any apk's like that to this phone until we get s-off since everything essentially resets right now after reboot. There is an app on the market called Spirit FM radio that quite a few people use. It's supposed to be pretty good. I haven't tried it yet since I just left my X2 for the Rezound and haven't thought about replacing my FM radio.
Oh, and welcome to the Rezound This phone rocks.

I use Tunein Radio works off of the data though. But it has almost any radio station I can look up except one. hope it helps.

I got TuneIn as well and it works well. You can listen to police stuff too which can be interesting... Oh! I should've thought about that when I was driving through Hollywood today since there had been a big shooting incident.
Anyway... free version is good and I think they only thing you get from the paid version is the ability to record stuff but from what I've read it's not worth it. Read that you can't listen to those recordings on anything but phone and it's near impossible to skip around in them.

After reading this,I pulled the radio app from my droid 3, it did not work. Sooooo either we have no FM radio chip or the software is coded just for the motto droid. I'll have to find the incredible radio app and test that. But in all honesty I do prefer Tune In. I have the pro version (was free on amazon awhile back) I don't use any of the pro features though.

there's plenty of good radio stations in the los angeles/san bernardino area. power 106 is not one of them, because it's false advertising to say "where hiphop lives". just because the baka boys got eminem his first break in l.a. doesn't mean you should use him to sell "where hiphop lives". It does not live there whatsoever, and it's a shame and insult to people who know where to find real music, who actually take time to discover the world of music, and not be pulled by the nose and saturated with beats that have no business being called hiphop. The station is a real good station don't get me wrong. I always just hate to hear and see what power does to sell itself, because it does not want to be kiisfm, yet it has just grown to be a perfect clone of it. Ah how the mainstream sells and copies is more of an affliction on music than pirating ever could be.
Please excuse the rant, but do download the app, Tunein, as it is great
I just started using this app recently.. kicks ass

Does Razr have FM radio support

Hello,
Was anyone able to hear radio on a Razr without data connection.
This is the only factor that will make me change my mind for buying the Razr...

i know that xda has search support.
it has the hardware, but has not been enabled in software by motorola and no workaround has been found
Does the forum have a search function?
Have you ever searched through a tablet? I did a search and couldnt find exactly what i was looking

Theres only one option to test FM Radio under Razr forum. Nobody could put it to work since motorola didn't delivered a FM radio driver.
But you can test your own. Just get anycut app in G Play and start a new activity > FM player.
You'll see the Built in fm app but it doesn't work.
Searching in a tablet really doesn't give you workable results. Try a PC instead.

I am pretty sure there is hardware for it because there is radio FM in the bionic and the same hardware is under RAZR to, for the radio. But as you said there is no drivers but if I remember kholk said he will look in to this after the 3.0.8 source is released
Cool thanks guys.
I am on a 10 day trip without a pc, and i am doing a search on what mobile to purchase, so sorry if i took some of everybody's time.
I was almost sure that i did my final choice with Razr, but then i remembered that i didnt check the radio option! :-(
Now i have to consider my other options again GNote, HTC XE, SONY S

Man. If the only problem is the radio then forget about it, but if u care a long lasting battery n amazin signal then go razr. If you're in USA get a maxx.
This is the better build hardware till today and ICS is coming to improve usability experience. The moto system also is the less bug'ed from all smatphones. I would get one for an easy tripp.
Edit
Btw. Remember you can fill it with mp3
Btw2 (lol) and all good radios are over the web

I have a Moto Milestone which doesnt have radio, and so many times i get frustrated because i want to hear radio while walking or at the stadium.
And i just dont want to regret it... unfortunately i dont have data unlimited plan.

My old Droid X has a working FM radio. I take that when I want to have a radio along with other things like MP3s on a bike ride, hike, etc. It would be much better to only carry one device. If this is possible to unlock, I'd be all over it.

I live in the US and bought the Bionic which has the FM radio but never really used it. Now I have a Razr Maxx with no FM radio enabled but the Tunein radio app on the market is awesome you get a stream of your local radio station's (if under contract with Tunein) they are constantly adding new stations and refining an already awesome app. I purchased the pro version and don't regret it.

TuneIn is absolutely fantastic. I can't remember the last time I used an actual radio because of it.
But I can definitely see where actual radio capabilities might be a nice feature if someone doesn't have unlimited data, like the OP, or if you're doing some international travel and can't or don't want to use data.
Yes correct, i dont understand why companies would want not to have a radio on a mobile, something that was a must on old mobiles and something that still a lot of users need....

After reading GSMArena review, they mention FM Radio with RDS in the specs. Cool!
But no Wolfson DAC. You can read about it in the sound part of the review.

I closely watched the app drawer in couple of video reviews of tmobile version on YouTube and that are missing FM radio icon. So i am negative on that. Hope i am wrong though.

No one knows for sure about Wolson since GSMArena has been wrong many times in the past but even if not with all the Devs we'll get great sound out of the US version.

A lot of the gyms in my area transmit television audio on FM. The lack of FM won't keep me from buying a phone, but I would certainly use the feature.
And we can only hope that the results GSMArena saw are correctable, but I am going to take the cynical view on US audio quality.
1. I can confirm the Sensation has FM. That's my phone.
2. Considering that people already have it in hand, I would expect someone could tell us.
3. If any of the US versions have it, then I bet it is just disabled and the devs will at some point get it working.

What do you mean? They said the audio is comparable to the international version regardless of the lack of Wolfson. They also said it performs better at high volumes. I'm not too upset anymore. I never use the FM Radio so I don't really care - but not sure why it's disabled - my Sensation 4G had it enabled.

[Q] FM Radio App

I don't know if this is the right form, but I noticed that I need to plug in headphones in my HTC EVO LTE for the FM Radio app to work. Are there any workarounds, especially since I have a pair of bluetooth headphones? Or is there another app that I should look into?

The reason you need headphones to use the FM radio is because the headphones also act as the antenna for the radio to operate. You are not going to hear much without the antenna (unless you happen to be standing under the antenna).

Wow - I didn't know that. Thanks for the information. I still like having the FM radio (for use at the gym). I will just have to use some "old-fashioned" headphones. LOL
No problem. You could try Spirit FM Radio app. I believe it allows the radio to operate without the headphones. But again without metal in the air YMMV.

That's if the station you want to listen to is in a major market, or owned by one of the major broadcast conglomerates. If you want to listen to a small station they will probably not be on iHeart/TuneIn.

Agreed. This is what I would have suggested.
Seeing as I have a half dozen old sets of ear buds lying around I will attempt this method.
Supposably you can switch back to the phone speaker after the headphone jack is in... Will post results later.
Sent from my Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Naked, stock and rooted.
I just plug in my headphones so I have an antenna and then change the output to speaker. Not sure why you would want to bypass. Reception will be worse without some kind of antenna.
Oh wow

So.. how does one go about accessing the FM radio? I'm looking and don't see anything listed.

Sprint GN3 has real FM ?? !
Gee, nobody told me, and I haven't noticed the last month; been too busy with taxes and my Spirit2 app...
On rooted phones, my Spirit FM app can work without headset, but some phones/FM chips are better than others with no FM antenna. Metal phones like HTC One are impossible, but GT-I9300 and International Note2 are decent, with the Silicon Labs FM chip.
Anybody know if the FM chip if the Broadcom FM/BT/WiFi combo chip ? Or Silicon Labs like the older International S/Note class devices ? I'd bet on Broadcom, after they magically re-enabled the FM antenna pin connections to headset jack.
