Whenever I go to change the wallpaper in Launcher Pro, I get only only option, those darn colored lights. How can I add to this list? Also, even though I have downloaded Live Wallpapers, installed them, and have been notified that the installation was successful, I do not see it as an option anywhere. Any suggestions?
Some of the Live Wallpapers might not work, I've had the same issue. But, many of them do work. I personally like the grass one as it's a low graphics footprint.
As for wallpaper, most of the built-in ones are just embedded in their respective apks. you could just create your own 1024x600 images, drop them in /DCIM and you should be able to select them. Or, the Market has downloadable wallpapers, I believe.
Thanks! I could not determine just where to put the wallpaper files. Thanks. Will also keep trying with the Live Wallpaper. I was concerned it was due to a hardware problem.
Still no luck finding a Live Wallpaper that works. Also, the wallpaper I add to the DCIM folder.... what format should it be? jpeg? And do I just put them in the DCIM folder? There are two other folders there, but none of them show up when I try to change the wallpaper in Launcher Pro.
im using launcher pro and running aquarium live donate works great tons of features too

Hi,
I haven't found a specific way to do this, but I did find that if I install ADW, then the ADW Ubuntu theme, both from Market, then, uninstall ADW, I could still use the wallpapers from ADW Ubuntu theme in Launcherpro!
I was hoping I could do that with the other ADW themes, but the ADW Ubuntu theme was the only one that worked ...

How do we use an image as wallpaper
OK, I've tried everying. I have a JPEG and can't figure out how to get it set as wallpaper. Using stock TNT and LauncherPro.

Hit the main menu, choose Wallpaper then choose Gallery. Browse to your picture, select it, drag out the box to cover the entire picture (or most at least) and click save.
Your .jpg picture is now your wallpaper.
I'm having this same issue. I saved a wallpaper and moved it to the root of the /DIM folder. I hit Settings --> Wallpaper --> Wallpaper gallery. There's still only the two stock images in there.
Any help?

Images you add to /DCIM folder will NEVER show up under Wallpapers or Wallpaper gallery. Images listed in Wallpapers are part of the app.
Your images are only available when you select wallpaper from the menu, then choose Gallery. This will load your gallery of photos which you can choose as a wallpaper.

I can't find that option on this ROM. When I select wallpaper from the menu, the only two options I have are "Live Wallpapers" and "Wallpaper Gallery".
Try opening your gallery, find one of the images you want as your wallpaper and long press it, press the "more" at the bottom of the screen and select "Set as" and see if Wallpaper is one of your choices...
The only place I could find the pic that I downloaded is within my "Photos" app and it only gives me the option to share or delete it.
Looks like something is missing in that ROM if you don't have the option to use an image as a wallpaper.
I know this is kind of the opposite of this threads topic, but..
How would I go about extracting the 2 wallpapers from within launcherpro's wallpaper gallery? I actually only want the darker, 'carbon fiber' of the 2 in my phone so I still have it even tho I no longer use that particular launcher.
Thanks in advance!
Live wallpapers are missing on my grab. I can see mywater in Manage Applications but cant get to it/find it on the sd card. Any ideas

Some ROMs (mostly HoneyComb ones, eg.: GtabCombOver) don't come with any Live Wallpapers.
If the ROM does come with Live Wallpapers, then they will reside in .apk file in the /system/app/ directory.
Third party Live Wallpapers, if they are installed, will be found inside /data/app/. They will be found on the SD card only if they've been moved there--either as part of their install or explicitly by the user.
That's helpful. Thanks.
GO Launcher EX is the extra version of GO Launcher, one of the most popular stock home replacement app in android market, provides beautiful themes, fast flip speed and tons of useful functions. Don't know how many of you use it. Its very fast has an inbuilt task killer also!!
Check out the website!!
http://www.goforandroid.com/
I've been using GO Launcher for a while now, it's by far the best out there. Only strange thing i noticed is that with GO Launcher EX you need to install a separate module in order to have missed call and message notifications down in the dock.

No but u can put them into folders.
Awsme launcher thanx
I've tried other launchers and this is the only one moving smoothly on my Optimus. In addition to that it has icon personalization and you can make those annoying never-used apps disappear in your app menu.
it has enough customization options and the battery use is quite low. A must-have!
very good ...... n.n
Go Launcher EX in my opinion has to be the best one out there.
I am one of the people who actually enjoyed Touchwiz at first....well, until my app drawer reached over 10 pages (That's 160 apps and I even had the bloatware hidden with TiBackup)
Anyways. I have just this completely crazy and awesome thing going with Go Launcher on my phone. The best thing is, I've gone from 10 pages all the way down to 4. This launcher has so much customization and features, and on top of it all, it runs extremely fast.
I have posted several screens of what I have done on my phone using Go Launcher as well as just some screens so people can see it and understand it more.
The 1st is a preview of the ui swiping side to side, the 2nd is all my home screens, the 3rd is what the new app drawer looks like (notice the folders INSIDE the app drawer), the 4th is just all the options I have on my main home screen. The 5th and 6th Images are showing how you can switch the dock back and forth. The 7th is showing the modded facebook app available here on the XDA and my personal mod of the Picture Dial widget. And the last is the Screen Shortcut Screen (when you pinch the screen at home).
I hope you all enjoy.
NOTE: The "theme" I have is purely from the customization features I had available. I did not mod it at all (with the exception of one widget) nor did I actually create a theme for the Launcher like those which are available for ADW.
You can find almost all of what you see via internet. I had to photoshop a few icons (you'll notice them on the screen shots showing my different dockbars as those images are more recent).
gunna have to give this one a try adw launcher just isnt cuttin it for me any more
Using 2.3.2 Mur4ik ROM what I find is that Home Manager shows both Go Launcher EX and stock launcher are running at the same time, stock can take up to 40mb RAM, and second that for Go Launcher EX, so I've changed to stock because I want more mem and when I AutoKill stock then Go launcher Running tab says there's more ram.
How can I customize stock 2.3 launcher?
I need to change number of screens to 3 from 5, I don't need more.
Is there any way to create folders in menu instead in "desktop" only?
Screen transistions are not my priority, but Go Launcher is much user friendly anyway, and allows quick access to most commonly used options by me.
Yeah just hold one app and drag ontop of another to put them both in a folder

How much memory did you say Go Launcher used up? when I'm in it's app drawer tab and kill everything I can only get a max of about 150 out of a possible 303Mb
I will say that you can clear up some memory if you "Freeze" your default launcher using Titanium Backup.
Oh and one of the coolest things about Go Launcher is that since I made a Titanium Backup of it before changing Roms, when I got my phone back up and running again, all I had to do was go into Go Launcher's Preferences, scroll down and hit restore configuration (I had made a back up, can't forget that) and all my custom icons were restored. I had to add my widgets back manually, but that wasnt too big of a deal (I didn't make a titanium backup of that, but I think you can).
...hold on, actually Titanium Backup just restored all my apps, the Go Launcher's configuration is completely separate from titanium backup. GO Launcher creates it's own folder on your SD card for it's backups. It's pretty cool.
Soooo..... has anyone happened to have talked to the developer or anything to find out about making custom themes? I haven't had any experience making themes for other launchers, but I'd like to give a shot at making one for Go Launcher and I haven't seen anything on how to make one unfortunately.
nice but crashes too frequently
for my it is the best launcher for now, and in the oficial page says that it going to have customs themes
Is there any way to decrease the number of screens? I find it incredibly irritating to see have 5 screens, I only need and use 2.
I found GO Launcher to work best with stock 2.1. There are buch of themes for it, but only several of them are good for me.

Dear all,
I love the way LG stock rom devides apps in to default ones and Downloads. Moreover, it allows creating new categories to better organize apps. However, no custom rom (void, prime, lol,...) has this useful ability.
Do u know how to get this? Which app can help with the same need?
The LG Home app recognizes 2 categories by default, but additional categories may be added. And ones from the first category can be moved to the second and so on. The only thing special about the "APPLICATIONS" category in the stock launcher includes all apps from the /system/app/ directory.
With Zeam, GO, ADW, Panda, Better Home and LauncherPro (I don't know of other launchers...) it is possible to create categories and organise apps the same way as in the stock home app. But system apps are by default not seperate from the user applications in the app drawer.
If you want the stock launcher app, just copy it from your stock ROM - "/system/app/LGHome.apk". Then you are free to place it on any ROM of your choice (Simply install the package or copy it to the /system/app/ directory).

Many launchers come with this function. Just try them. If you have an Android phone and you haven't yet tried all the launchers, it's weird. I bet 99% people have tried all launchers.

Yeah, I find no option to do this
On the S2, it seems when you remove an app, the app drawer doesn't re-org it just leaves a gap meaning it has to be manually sorted. Is there a way to automatically sort it other than using the list view?
I also have a similar question to this that I can't find the answer to anywhere..
Basically I have the same problem with around 9 app drawers half filled. I could sit here for an hour dragging each app icon, one at a time, to other app drawers to consolidate them into less drawers but it's very tedious and annoying to do this.
In some apps, I can select multiple icons (such as multiple pictures) and then move them all to another folder, or perform an action on all the selected icons; I can't seem to find a way to do this with my non-rooted SGS2.
I'm trying to find an app that will allow me to set categories and then assign app icons to those categories and then be able to sort all my icons based on the different categories... again, I've not had any success finding an app like that...
...so I've ended up here, on XDA Forums, to ask the people who know more than me.

you have let me think 3 options or maybe two...either download appzorter application from the market..that basically will sort all your applications in alphabetical order and also the folders you create. then if you have gaps it will sort that for you as well and fill the empty spaces.
or second option use a different launcher from the market and it sorts the icons and folders for you.
one launcher that lets you organize your apps into categories i think its either nova launcher or 360 launcher..no need to be rooted or anything like that to be able to use those apps. good luck let me know how you guys get on
Thanks, I have the EX Launcher.. but I don't like it because I have to setup the home screen gain and I had trouble finding the same widgets I had on the out-of-the-box launcher.. maybe I will try again one day.. but for now I will have a look at appzorter to solve my immediate annoyances
+1 for Appzorter
Why Samsung didn't include this function is beyond me.

As to the icons... I don't know if it'll be the same on ICS but here's what I did to pull some ADW icons into Rosie.
Thanks to rileyd5 for instruction to remove text which is how I found out I could change the icons in the same place.
You need Folder Organizer to do it this way.
Then press and hold on your homescreen and select widget.
Select FO Item - Folder Organizer
Choose Apps
Then find the one you want to change the icon of and press on icon.
Then go find the icon you want to change that one to.
Tap on the app and it will be on your desktop. Now you have to replace the one that's already there if there is one.
Unfortunately you have to do one at a time and even if you already have an icon for an app you have to make a new one and replace it, you can't just modify one that's already there.
I'm sure there must be an easier way...

There's a much easier way....visit the Themes section where some great people have painstakingly created icon sets and themes that have a wide variety of looks and functionality.
On the icon replacement there are a ton of apps out there. I suggest desktop visualizer only because there are a million and one icon packs already built for it.

It's a fun/good topic to have an open discussion about who uses what and to what benefit it is. I themed as much as I can without tearing apart market apps so that their in app fonts match what I want.

If you don't mind switching ROMs, this is what I did (and I'd suggest this ROM anyway since it's so smooth) in order to get the AOSP notification bar at the top. You can find the thread here where I detailed instructions. Essentially, though, I used Joelz ICS Sense Redefined. I then pushed the framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk from his Senseless ROM. It works perfectly. I now have a Sense ROM that looks like Senseless. And I did get confirmation from him that it won't break anything since they both use the same framework and System base.
