Hi,
I'm going to Vegas in Jan and just wondering if the Nook Tablet is easy to get? No problems with stock?
Thanks
Chris
Every b&n store I have been to has plenty. I don't think they sell that well.

You may be right, since B&N hasn't released any sales figures aside from a cryptic $220M Nook (as a whole enterprise: hardware, accessories, software) revenue figure for 3Q.
That aside, the B&N I bought mine at had plenty in stock, but that was prior to Black Friday, and there were at least 3 other people buying them at the same time I bought mine. Not earth-shattering, but not too terrible either.
Best Buy stores in my area have run out with only a few stores in some outlying areas still having stock.
Thanks for the info.
So far I have B&N, Best Buy & Staples on my list of possibilities.
Going early Jan (CES!) so hopefully stock should be good.
Right now I know they are in stock, I bought two on Monday at a B&N.. But when she opened the cabinet to pull them out, the cubboard was looking a little bare..(Maybe more out back?) Anyway, from what I can tell sales of the kindle fire are going better, Advertising? Just a well-known brand from being the first? Preference of what the product does? or something else..
Sales on these type of items don't slow after the Christmas rush though.. Many people use Christmas money for their own purchases of what they wanted and didn't get after Christmas..
Good Luck!
Just found Target stock it also, so I think I have a good few options plus a rental car!
Get your rental car now for CES. Though, depending on where you're staying, you may not need one in Vegas. There are free shuttles to and from most of the Casinos and the Airport, and the vast majority of the casinos are just a walk or short cab (or shuttle) ride down the strip. You probably don't want to be driving on the strip much anyway.

Thanks for the tips.
Actually flying into LAX flight was massively cheaper (and Virgin Atlantic put better planes from Heathrow compared to Gatwick) so will have a car, which I have pre-paid and booked.
Ah, yes. Flying into LAX would require a car. It's a bit far to walk from LA to Vegas

Hey,
Is it still possible to get one of these before Christmas (assuming the live date is before then) ? I have not preordered yet.
Thanks
If you are in the US and you can find a place that is still accepting pre-orders, then maybe. It is very doubtful any stores will have it in stock until after the new years and seems like Canada and Europe are out of the questions until Jan or Feb.
However, it seems like Best Buy is the only place that has not cancelled or delayed pre-orders, so I would say you have your work cut out for you if you want one before the holidays.
I'd suggest calling around to some GameStop B&M stores. From some of the postings, it appears a couple of locations have more inventory arriving then they have pre-orders. Everyone on this forum's been going nuts to be first to get a Prime and are well aware of GameStop. But the average shopper probably wouldn't even think of them for tablets. Keep in mind not all GameStop stores sell tablets. If you have friends and family in other cities use them to expand your search.

Also keep in mind that Gamestop does not allow returns, so you would probably need to deal with Asus if you have any problems with the device. Honestly its a horrible place to buy anything but used games. They consistently open new products and sometimes remove contents or allow their employees to play with them before they shelf them. I just avoid buying anything new there.
However, it is true most people will not think of Gamestop for Tablets, so if they do get units this year it may be the best bet to find it.

Funny you'd say that. There are three GameStop's in my city that I didn't even know existed until the whole Prime pre-order thing. They're in obscure locations and the one I went in to looked like a thrift shop. Everyone working there looked like they were still in high school. On their website they say they have 6,627 company-operated stores in 17 countries. Who knew?
Here's a link to the game they opened to remove the OnLive coupons:

Yeah, that was a big fiasco. I found that if you want a new game from Gamestop that is unopened, you pretty much have to pre-order it and show up for a midnight launch if they hold one. Other than that I have never gotten a shrink-wrapped products. I hear this can vary store to store, but I have 4 within 10 miles of me and they all do the same.
So I just go in an buy used games. Those are the ONLY product they sell you can actually return. Probably because they buy stuff for $1-$5 and sell it for $20-$50.
Of course, I guess this is all off topic. Sorry.
Yes, if you want to pay between $699-800 on ebay

I'm going to take my chance on Best Buy on launch date, they are bound to have some in stock on launch date.
I've never heard of a new product being sold to only online shoppers who pre-ordered weeks in advanced.
I also have it hard to believe that there many out there who are anxious for this product for it to sell out quickly on launch date.
Unlike that $199 1080p Sharp HDTV Best Buy fire sold on Black Friday, I was amazed then that no body in the line I waited that day was interested in the $249 Transformer.

The Prime probably decreased interest in original Transformer sales. It's a sweet deal at $250 but the second version was already announced. That said, my friend couldn't get a hold of the $250 ones (she waited in Manhattan)... I guess it also depends on the location.
Anyway, it's a week away from release so really the best chance now would be to stalk brick and mortar stores. (call ahead)
I did. Couldn't put up with "backorder for 30 days" email from best buy on my 11/30 preorder. Paid $759 plus $14 plus overnight shipping. Got UPS confirmation that it will be delivered before 3 tomorrow. No regrets, yet.

Someone in my city is selling one on craigslist
Ordered a 64Gb from B&H and they don't know ****, and after the rumors of delay to Q2 and that Amazon will ship Jan 25 - Feb and that the launch in Sweden is also late Jan/Feb. I decided to buy from Ebay. but the thing that really triggered was what B&H wrote on facebook
" B&H Photo Video Pro Audio*‎Jeffrey Galles*- I think we got champagne today. In all honesty I didn't know there were two colors until a little while ago."
They don't even know what they are selling and have available for preorder on there site, First and last time I will have anything with B&H to do.
The one from Ebay is over priced but what is there to do when I don't want to wait like 1 to 2 months and by that time the Prime is "old" and there will be other products to look at.

I don't know... if you have the money, then sure, you one-percenters can do whatever the hell you want.
But, in the grand scheme of things, you'll only be using this a week or so (I seriously doubt it'll take another month) early so was it worth it? I mean, you can basically do everything on a computer. Tablets are not needed -- they're awesome to use but they don't do much in terms of productivity (especially when compared to laptops/pcs).
Also, by buying off the guys on eBay, you are perpetuating the reselling process. Do you know a big reason you didn't get your pre-order? Because some **** bought 10 of these first and resold them on eBay. Guys like these really serve no economic value. (retailers provide distribution channels and outlets, what do resellers do?)

1%? I think there are quite a few people in the 99% that can afford to pay a couple extra hundred dollars more for a tablet.
ebay is too risky.
Easy to get scammed by someone trying to capitalized on the shortage supply and high demand.
It's not worth it, I can wait a little longer till local retails began getting supplies in after x-mas.

eBay is why pre-ordering sucks. Douchbags waste inventory which ruins it for the rest of us. Really pre-orders should come with a 6 month no-resale clause with head-crushing as punishment.

You can tell your "Occupy XDA" story walking pal. A week? I'm on backorder with BB for 30 days and nobody knows what the real story is. Hell, I had a Gamestop manager tell me he overheard a conference call he wasn't supposed to be privy to and that he heard that there were only 1000 tablets shipped to the U.S. and that Gamestop got 600 of those. If tablets are not needed then why are you trolling this forum and dropping your mighty wisdom? The reason I didn't get my preorder has nothing to do with someone buying in bulk, it's because BB and the other companies got duped by ASUS just like last year. People pay for goods based on the value they perceive that said goods provide to them personally. If an individual made $250 or so off me then good, eliminating the frustration and time I put into this debacle is worth it to me.
Ebay is showing three (or so) 64GB primes. If they are truly 64GB primes, that is encouraging that they have made at least one run. Don't know why they are not available yet for sale though.

Too risky. There is a good chance the ones on eBay are from the bad wifi batch. And I saw one seller with a description that said he got several from Bestbuy.com yet he also copy and pasted the list of free games from Gamestop, including the part that says "Purchase a New Android(TM) Tablet Customized by GameStop and get free digital games!" So I wouldn't believe anything he says
I was looking to buy one of these tablets from Micro Center, but it seems that they have gone out of stock with them and removed them as a listing from their website (you can still get to the item if you google it for some reason, they didn't delete the actual page..). I saw that best buy has them in stock, but I was just wondering if any other stores have it in stock because there is no best buy close by but there is a micro center (odd, I know).
If anybody could help link me to some stores (not online) that have this item, that would help me out a lot.
Thanks!
Target supposedly has some in stock. They are in stock online. You can call your local store to see if you get lucky.

Wow,
That really sucks man. Guess it just wasn't meant to be just yet.
Just a heads up, I'm in Montreal
If you're looking to getting the prime, I walked in to the BB at Fairview Pointe-Claire to buy my Dock and they had 6 in stock on Saturday around noon.
They seem to be getting them on a regular basis every week around Friday.
I recommend you call on Thursday/Friday/Saturday morning to see if they have any.
They seem to receive their stock right before the week-end, because I picked up my first Prime from FS on Thursday two weeks before (also Pointe-Claire)
And just a heads up, not all store will carry it, due to it not being available in french so I was told by a FS store manager, so chose your store locations carefully, but Pointe-Claire BB and FS are your best bet in Montreal from my experience.
Thank you all for the help, but I ended getting a tf101 for
$350 at compusa. Im not using this device for hardcore graphics or anything so i figured a tegra 2 would suffice.

Pretty sure what happened was HP was done with touchpad/webOS so they just wanted to get rid of their inventory, so they sold them for ~$100 each, which created a massive demand for them. So much so that they started producing more, and selling them at ~$250 not the original $400 price tag.
I bought mine for ~$200 from woot a few weeks ago, but am looking to sell it since I'm not using it as much as I thought. Might put it in the marketplace here in bit if you're interested.
I would check Craigslist frequently. I found mine for $175 brand new in sealed box (not refurbished).
Be very careful!
There are a lot of robberies happening around the country due to craigslist.
Someone advertises something that is hot (HP TouchPad, iPad, newest smartphone, etc.) for a deal - then when you show up at that address to check it out they mug you and take the money they know you brought with you. Only do the transactions in public places with security or bring some (armed) friends along.
They also do the reverse. They come to check out your item and then haul ass once they get their hands on it.

wow that's scary. I buy a lot of stuff from craigslist and I never had a problem. Ofcourse I usually meet at a mall. I bought my sealed 32gb touchpad for $220 and my gnexus for $580.
Ran into some hard times, and I need to sell my TFP
Bought it from GameStop and they don't return cash. The dock and tablet

Android 3.2 Honeycomb? Have you not updated it to 4.0.3 ICS?
I'd change your posting to include ICS - may be a little more tempting to those not fully aware of the TFP...
Also mention the keyboard dock extends the battery life by upto 4hrs and can be used to read SD cards and USB memory sticks and HDD's etc
Good luck with the sale and your new baby

Dont really have a recommendation. Just wondering if you had some extras that would allow you to charge $25 over new retail.
A price I would recommend? Lets look at some facts that you may or may not find relevant.
When a car is driven off the lot, you can't sell it for the $60,000 you bought it for. At most you could get for it by selling it is $48,000 to $54,000.
You've 'driven' your 'car' off the lot when you removed the vacuum wrap seal on both boxes. The most I would spend on the tablet is about $425-$450 and $90-$100 for the dock. So the total price I would pay would be $515 to $550.
There still might not be a lot of stock available, but it is definitely improving fast. If they hadn't of ramped up production I would have said you might have gotten your $650 you paid for back out of it, but not now.

I wouldn't exactly call that a fact... I sell cars and while what you said in theory makes sense. It isn't entirely true..
None the less, an item is worth what someone will buy it for. Look at finished listings on Ebay and aim for the highest one. The Prime with dock shouldn't be hard to find in most areas but I had to search a little to find mine. Ebay touches everyone... Someone will spend the money. Worst case scenario you can always meet in the middle but you always, always start high, pending your motivation to sell anyway.
I wouldn't lower the price unless you need the money fast. People are stupid, I've sold many things on Craigslist above retail price. They think they are getting a deal on CL.

And people who sell stuff on CL above retail are dbs...sorry. Concept of depreciation, economics 101. I wouldn't want to try rip anyone off...cause stuff like that come bite you back in the ass, hard lol.
Unfortunately, once an item is used...you can't expect to get back what you paid. Just my .02
To the OP, i actually got my TFP off craigslist for $500 with the dock. Everything in boxes and with complete receipts and warranty info too. And $500 for used items is a fair price. Taking your selling your Tablet for $425 and the dock for $75.
But glws nonetheless...sucks when you have to sell their own stuff just to make it by. Damn you ECONOMY!

houses typically go up in price but ya you are right. i saw a tfp 32gb + dock + case for $550 on craigslist here in DC.
I'm in Houston (Sugar Land) and I think I've seen your ad.
here's my take on the price.
1: it's a tablet and 85% of people out there wouldn't think of our tablet as "the tablet" to get especially the iPad3 just came out. everyone will be looking for an iPad so if I were you on CL, add some meta words to it to get people's attention.
2: because we don't own a pedestrian tablet, most people wouldn't plunk all that cash for something they don't know. Doing a search for our tablet doesn't come back too favorably either; not that it's a bad tablet but with the issues that the tablet has, even my parents knows about it and they're super AARP members. I wouldn't put "Firm" in your CL ad. As an active CL user (both back in NYC and now Houston), anytime anyone put in the word "FIRM", I click the back button. The whole "charm" with CL is the ability to, for a lack of a better word: haggle.
3: If you think cars depreciate fast, have you looked at technology? Yeah, the price fluctuates up and down (like a Prius when it first came out) but overall, they only head in one direction once leaving store shelves: down. To exasperate the bad situation are the "next model" people. These are the "next model" waiters and will look at the $600 now and get X or $600 next month and get Y which is greater than X. Speaking from experience, I waited almost 6 months for the Prime. I was going to pull the trigger and get a TF101 and REALLY needed something since my laptop screen died (thank god for the stupid $120 extended warranty from Dell) but I still waited after hearing about the Prime coming out Q3/Q4 of 2011.
Basic marketing P's:
People
Price
Promotion
Placement
People: you're selling an item that majority of people know nothing about. Not like Verizon or AT&T Wireless are pushing it like the Galaxy Tab. Your audience is limited.
Price: well, $600 is big coin for economic times like this for most people. Not suggesting you give it away but do set a price that people can't say no to or add OBO to get more bites; I don't know how much interest has been stirred on your CL listing so I can't say if your price is good but for me, it's on the high side.
Promotion: well, you got it on ebay and CL and now here but the price you're selling it at doesn't help the promotion.
Placement: You're in Sugar Land? I'm in Sugar Land as well and it's not a bad place to sell high end electronics but you have to take in consideration the people who are well off in Sugar Land are also educated or are willing to educate themselves on items they are buying.
Good luck on the sale and as someone once said: I'd rather be lucky than good.
Thanks
