I just got a lapdock in the fire sale, and I had faux 2.2 enhanced stock kernel. The webtop top bar didn't work so I flashed the stock kernel and all was well for a day. And today, (no reboots since reflash), when I put it into the dock, for some reason any mouse click would act like I was minimize/reopen the mobile display no matter where I clicked. So I rebooted my phone to clear webtop from memory, and now going to webtop reboots my phone. Just cleared Dalvik and Cache, no dice. Again, I'm on stock kernel, removed setCPU etc... Going to flash webtop again, don't think it'll be help though.
Any suggests?
stock kernel is great to be listed, how about what ROM you're using too? any maybe any mods?
Webtop over hdmi hack, and a few frozen blur Apps. No roms. I don't think I have any other mods. It worked today for a few minutes but its doing it again. Reboots even if in webtop already.
Trolling from my ATRIX 4G's XDA premium app, still on the gold medal winner of worst customer satisfaction for the second year in a row! Congrats!
My Atrix (stock deodexed) would reboot when i put it in the car charger and I had to revert the Webtop over HDMI hack to get it to work properly. If this doesn't work for you a logcat log would be helpful in determining what is crashing your phone.
Ill see. I can't do an eclipse logcat cause adj randomly disconnects from eclipse like 2 seconds after I connect from forceful connection refusal. Can't really do software testing with this issue... Can't really do it wired cause I gotta plug it into the dock... will try wirelessAdb. When I get home. Works fine with my car dock, still need to reflash webtop partition. But going to be so busy tonight...

Having the same problem as soon as I put my phone on the dock it reboots but it works just fine with the HDMI hack no reboots at all. Redoing my phone and webtop doesn't seen to fix it. So I'm thinking I'm just going to sell it if it keeps doing it.

I frequently get this problem too. I can usually reboot my phone and it'll work, but randomly it seems that when I place my phone in, it takes awhile and the phone will continually reboot until I pull it off the lapdock.
On Darkside 4.0 w/ darkside's stock kernel and Fruitcake webtop 2.3.5.
Mine will continually reboot as soon as you get to the FP reader if you leave it on the dock after the first crash and reboot. It seems random. Still trying to get a logcat log through adbWireless.
Also right now trying to figure out how to compile a tun.ko module for the stock kernel - i've never done kernel work. Not sure where to get the aosp kernel? There's not really any instructions on it

Just had the strangest thing happen. After the latest crash I was going to try starting over from scratch(again), but when I went into root explorer then usr to set the start-oshwt-2.sh file back to normal the folder was empty no sub folders at all. After a few restarts everything came back.

This happens to me sometimes. I haven't found a good fix for it since I've been playing around with so many different ROMs and webtop hacks lately. The best I've found is to open the webtop screen right after I open the webtop program. Clunky, I know, but it hasn't failed me yet.
I find that I must open the dock after it gets into multimedia dock mode. Which takes up to 30 seconds. I must also undock when it returns to media node, assuming it doesn't reboot.

I flashed the ROM to my wife's phone and it was running fine up until today. Now it switches screens on its own (only to the left). I was thinking it could have been an app she downloaded but she said she hasn't downloaded any new ones in two days. It's only Sense UI that does it. She force stopped it, cleared defaults and is using Home. Now it's not happening.
Any ideas? She has it with her at work so we can't really mess with it right now but I'm wondering if anyone else is having issues.

i had that problem and it sux lol drove me nutts for the longest time ,,i asked a few people and it seems to be a bug in some of the roms ,i called htc b4 i asked anyone and they said also there is a bug with the track ball , ive since got a new one and no problems yet ,, this is only if it happens while plugged in
Re: Whoa! Sense UI is freaking out after Ivan's 0.8t2

Its a problem with the usb port and the magnents in the trackball. It will start by scrolling to the left only when plugged in but after more time it will constantly do it even if its not plugged in. My wife and I had the same problems and they sent us 2 new phones the next day.
Visit a Verizon Tech store or call them up.
Ok... I wasn't sure if it was hardware or software. She said it's been fine all day, but she hasn't charged it. Looks like I'll be downgrading back to stock and exchanging it if I can.
*I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. It's running Ivans 1.0. I just called Verizon though, when she's here with the phone we're going to go over some trouble shooting and hopefully they'll send over a new one.
Yea, I took both of our phones in along with the usb cord and showed them what was going on, no questions asked they replaced our phones with the v3 leak. Now I have root and loving it also.
Good luck you shouldnt have any problems getting new ones.
Had the Photon for 29 days, installed the Maintenance Release 5 and continued to have the no audio on calls and random reboot issues. Based on the actions of the phone the last few days that I had it I came to a few conclusions.
When the no audio happened if I hit the mute button the audio would be there and I could hear the call just fine. I noticed that after a no audio call if I attempted to go into call history and click the person who just called and attempted to call the phone would always reboot. This lead me to conclude ( and I would appreciate it if someone who post some thoughts ) that no audio indicates the software has encountered problems and is no longer stable. The actions of the buttons are reversed and the system is on the verge of crashing. Any further action after the call will result in a system reboot. This leads me to believe the OS is prone to not being stable for whatever reason. Why this occurs is unknown.
I noticed that when the phone was flat on my desk, sometimes hooked up to power source, sometimes not, the phone would reboot on it's own. This indicated that even without user intervention the phone OS would become unstable, crash and reboot. What causes this is unknown.
I have since returned the phone to Sprint for a full refund with no restocking fee ( I suspect their technician was able to duplicate the no audio).
While the phone was fast, had a lot of storage space, great reception and great clarity the unstable OS caused me to return it.
Sounds like a hardware problem. I have yet to have a reboot and after the update, I have yet to get a muted call.

There are two problems at hand here, user error and malfunctioning hardware. You should know full well that if you are having issues such as rebooting upon laying the phone down with a charger that something isn't soldered properly in the phone. Swapping it would alleviate this issue. With the final build (CM5) being available in SBF form, along with two very stable and powerful roms, very few people are having any issues of updated properly. It's unfortunate to see another user put this phone down instead of working through the issues, but I guess android isn't for everyone.

User error? Really? Note I said I had the CM5 installed and still had the no audio issues. And since when does having the action of the mute button on a call being reversed happen as a result of something not being soldered properly? Note that the reboot happened when the phone was on the charger and when it was not. When it was laying flat and when I was holding it upright and looking through the contact list. I like Android just fine. Had an Evo for a year but upgraded because it lacked internal storage space. I plan on going to the Galaxy SII in a few weeks and last I read that's an Android phone.

What he means is that you didn't even bother to have sprint replace this phone for you. You settled, thinking it was a software problem. Which any user here would most likely come to the conclusion after reading your post that it wasn't. Random reboots like that would have sent me back directly to the sprint store demanding another phone. Companies make bad batches, and stores get those bad batches. The fact is you just settled for a phone that was working sub par. I have gone through 3 phones, all with different problems, but I don't settle. They give you that 30 days for a reason.
Would you do the same thing had you went to best buy and bought a computer from them that did the same thing? Random reboots, no sound, etc etc....
Mine as well as most others phones on here work perfect, maybe the random force close from an app or something, but I don't get any muted calls, random reboots, and if I did you better bet I wouldn't settle for it.
Good luck to you in Samsung land.

funny...Ive had no problems before or after the ota...the phone is stable as a rock...call quality is outstanding, no dropped calls like my old EVO..but im not sure the issues is random hardware problems per phone
This is killing me as I real think the photon hardware wise is one the all around best out...
Moto need to get off over their attuned about software... officially unlock the dam phone release the dam Kernel asap and let great independent software talent write and fix bugs for great hardware and so so code
Just do not think Moto puts the time in on thier code that then need too...
The only problem I've had with this phone was no audio a few times. After updating to 45.2.5, that problem has now been resolved. Photon is running like a champ.

I did get a replacement phone and I experienced the same symptoms on both of them.
I do have information that confirms that Motorola was aware of the reboots and that MR5 was supposed to fix this. I did have MR5 on here.
I had an atrix before having this and put Alien Build 4. I was floored by the battery life and the ROM and device was rock solid.
I have a brick at the moment. This became a brick after rebooting loop similar to not wiping the davlik cache before a boot. It was stock. I was going to unlock and root to see if it helped the battery life.
I had been more excited about this phone than almost any other one. I have been a beta tester of Motorola devices, but I believe this one may have been pushed out the door a little too early.
I am glad people have this working well and I am glad for them. I will still love this phone even though I have experienced issues. It easily could have been a bad batch that is triggered by certain circumstances.
After the update - my silent call issue was 100% fixed. Maybe you need to a do a factory reset? I do that after all major OS updates.

I never had anything I couldn't recover from ODIN even a partial flash(or even if it reset before it could finish flashing). I rooted both Epic 4G and Droid Charge with Odin. Just flashed a couple of Samsung Moments last week but they didn't require ODIN.
My phone will boot sometimes so it won't even stay booted. Doesn't matter what I do to it.
Djspinister - It will boot but not stay booted, it just reboots. I haven't ever had a bad flash that I couldn't recover from. I have flashed Windows Mobile devices, iOS devices that were eventually jailbroken. I have flashed several times right before going out to eat dinner only to have it fully recovered before the food came out. This just has to be a bad phone. It is a brick phone.

After reading on numerous other sites of people on their 3rd or 4th Photon and still suffering from the same problem I decided not to bother. As for Samsung, before the Evo I had two Samsung products that were absolute rocks for me. Solid with no issues and performed well. Using a Samsung Instinct right now.
My Photon is 100% trouble free. Calls are clear, battery lasts, etc.
Te only real issue is that I do not love the bluish tint on the LCD. Anyone know how to alter the gamma?

I upgraded from an EVO on Friday. My new Photon began crashing and doing the no audio on Saturday. I exchanged it at the Sprint store later that day and have had no issues with the second Photon. I really like the Photon much better than the EVO.
Has no one else been told in the Sprint store that you can only exchange once and then you're stuck with the device???? They told me they only allow future exchanges through warranty (i.e., Motorola will ship me a new one...no in-store exchanges).
Is this just wrong information?

Thats BS!!!! e-mail me at [email protected] and I will send YOU the e-mail I sent Sprint. Not only did I get my 3rd phone, my bill is cleared until October!!! The girls name and number will be in my e-mail!
I just recently bought an Atrix 4G off a friend for 50 bucks so I'm not complaining at all.
This phone went through hell, I couldn't stand looking at the back cover it was so abused, I ended up buying a new one along with a battery. Now my only problem; the digitizer has an area of the screen, goes from the home key all the way up the screen, that isn't responsive and sometimes causes the screen to tweak out and select random things and sometimes goes completely unresponsive until i lock/unlock the phone again. Also the back and home keys are really hit or miss when they work. I just ordered a new digitizer and it should be here this week, I'm curious if this will fix it. Also I plan on replacing or removing the screen anyways since the ffc somehow has dust on the inside of the lens Anyway to prevent this in the future with this phone?
You wouldn't have happened to position your internal drive? If so, sounds like pds issue. Relatively easy to fix with moto fastboot. Google search pds fix Atrix

I haven't messed with any of that, the most I've done is flashed Neutrino EE rom. Which is also giving me issues, but since I'm new to this board I cannot complain about it yet. I'll give the fastboot a try.

So did that link work?
It's definitiely the neutrino rom. My phone has been working fine for ever and I flashed Neutrino and sure enough, same issue you are having. Now flashing any other rom has not fixed it. I'm going to try this partition fix when i'm at home, can't do fastboot at work.
Interesting. I just ran into this exact issue. I already ordered a new digitizer. I did flash Neutrino EE a while ago but only kept it for a day. I have a hard time believing the ROM will cause it. Might try that PDS fix but I'm afraid of any unwanted side effects. I thought I remember to never mess with the PDS.
I don't think it has to do with anything software related. I had this problem before and did my researching, turns out a lot of people encounter these issues. Even with stock roms, people that had never even rooted their phone. Screen wise this phone is a piece of ____. Had to exchange mine and now this new one is starting to act up again.

well here is the pdsfix.img if ya want to try it http://db.tt/mRStSurc
save to Root of sdcard not in any folder
then
to install use Android terminal emulator
type
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/pdsfix.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3
then hit enter
it should then read somthing like this
4096+0 records IN
4096+0 records out
2097152 bytes transfered in 2.746 secs (763711 bytes/sec)
then reboot and then ya should
be good as new
i have used it 3x now it works!
and yes the last time was when i was running neutreno rom g+ then wiped
and went back to darkside and thats when it messed up for me
THIS SHOULD ONLY BE USED IF ;
all your touch buttons on the phone
dont work AT ALL the keyboard work but
doesnt type Write when you touch a spcific letter
Also cant open anything like app drawer/settings / You lost your boot.img
and it was replaced with 14 differnt options. and a battery pull or fastboot -w and flashing a new rom didnt work!
PDS fix did nothing. Thanks for the suggestion though. Hoping the digitizer takes care of it whenever it arrives from Hong Kong.
It's not the Neutrino rom, it had this problem before hand when the phone was stock and unrooted.
So the pds did NOTHING. I replaced the screen and all my home keys work great now, the vertical line of nothingness turned horizontal towards the top of the screen AND my phone gets locked into a black screen when I make calls now??? What the hell??? This is really starting to piss me off.

are ya still running a neutreno rom
cause sometimes when i made a call
the screen would like go to sleep and wouldnt wakeup till they hung up or i rebooted its a issue a few people were haveing in the dev thread of neutreno
but it could be a cm7 weekly issue too
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Yeah I'm still on board with Neutrino, it seems to run a lot smoother than stock, it's the only other rom I've tried. I really like it.
It's defiantly the screen... When I'm in a call and it's locked into the black screen and I push the screen down into the phone it unlocks from the call.
I also tried the pdsfix from terminal and it didn't work.
Sometimes it wont even turn the screen off now........
as soon as u connect to a call
push the home button it your screen timeout is low like. ,30 try 2 min
but when in a call dont leave the dailer open backout to the homesceen should work "untill the phone gos to sleep.
and my pds issue didnt arise till
i flashed back to a blur rom (darkside)
it could have neen my fault too cause it was late on newyears eve and flashing roms and taquila dont mix IMHO, :sly:

Is the Atrix 2 any better of a phone because I could care less about the fingerprint scanner and the docks.
well in my opinion the atrix 2 Not in anyway better it almost seems worse(not much because its still an atrix
because The main selling points of the atrix is the dual core processer and the fingerprint scanner)
well i can confirm
wipe data
wipe cache
wipe dalvic
and flash eather the stable cm7
build or a lite blur rom
WILL correct this issue :screwy:
I'll give it a try, and suggested lite blur roms... I really dont like motoblur at all its crap
I'm just looking for something that runs smoothly and has good battery life.
And so far I really like everything about the atrix, exactly what I want.. just these screen and call issues make me want to grab another phone....

After updating this morning to .15, I just got the random reboot since before the .13 update. Using ICS+ browser.
Am I the only one? This sucks. Gary Key, I've already sent you a PM.
Please don't fill this thread stating .15 is working perfectly for you. I already know it is working well for most people.
How many reboots?
In over 48 hours I have had only 1 reboot and I believe it was my fault. I was using the stock browser and was trying to do too much at once and not letting it catch up.
If your having multiple reboots that is a different story.
Just one thus far. How can any reboot be "your fault"?

Really guy, you created a thread because of one reboot??? An issue would be if you had constant reboots, not just one. Every tablet I have owned rebooted now an then, it happens. Now lets see all the 'me toos' pop up now.
after the update gta3 doesnt work for me anymore anyone has the same issue. I clear data then uninstall and reinstall the apk nothing. It will work all the way up until the load is almost finish and it gets stuck on the load screen. Freaking A
update: now Age of Zombies lets me play for a while and then its goes black and restarts the game. WTF before the update it did not do this!
Going to restart the tablet and hope this fixes whatever is going on
update 2: looks like that solved it thank god,
so guys basic troubleshooting restart your devices and see if the problem continues

That's very good advice, you should always reboot after an update.
My prime started restarting when i had my xbox dongle in the USB slot today. Had about 5 reboots today. Never had a reboot before(well probably once every three/month).
One restart isnt something to be concerned about.
I have had one reboot since receiving the update yesterday.

I disagree, reboots are NOT normal, I had the Xoom since the day it was released till two weeks ago, and never had spontaneous reboots like the Prime does(I also had no issues with the Galaxy Tab, and the HTC Flyer.) App crashes, Apps not working till reboot are one thing but I am getting reboots on .15 when even trying to run Market updates. I have hard reset and had the market reload my apps and the problem came back the very next day. I just returned my unit to Frys since it was my last day in my return window. I also had a problem with the covers on the USB cable sliding off and if I plugged the charger upside-down I would get a slight shock from the back of the Prime.
They did not have any in stock to exchange, which might have been a blessing. I am going to wait and see how future shakes out before trying again.
My theory(unscientific) is the the Prime is using very slow NAND Flash memory for storage. I had the 64gb version and when writing to the storage it seems to take a lot longer than the Xoom. If I had 6 or 7 market updates on the Xoom it would take 30 to 40 seconds to download and install, the Prime would take 2 to 3 minutes(if it did not reboot itself before completing.). I would constantly get the Wait/Cancel prompt on the stock browser when a website was almost done loading, and writing cache to the NAND Flash.

I also had a problem with the covers on the USB cable sliding off and if I plugged the charger upside-down I would get a slight shock from the back of the Prime.
They did not have any in stock to exchange, which might have been a blessing. I am going to wait and see how future shakes out before trying again.

I agree, while my desktop PC seems to average between 5 - 10 a year, my blackberry playbook has had none so devices that don't randomly reboot are possible to make. In truth, though I love the Prime it has had the most random reboots of any device I have.

My two year old PC has never had reboots, in applicaion crash on occasion. I think the key is the stability and quality of the components being used, and in this case ASUS is cutting corners to keep the price low. Look at the threads with peoples screens lifiting and dust under the screens.
Don't get me wrong, I like the Prime and I will probably get another when some of the issues get sorted out.

Its because of the Tegra3 i wouldnt call it cutting corners exactly however their quality control has been pretty terrible with the Primes.
I agree. Reboots are not normal. I have never had a single reboot on my desktop that I built or my laptop. The only time my phone has ever rebooted was due to a known issue with an ota, which is fixed. I NEVER had a reboot with my prime until. 15.

I am experiencing lots of reboots
I was watching a flash video in the browser when this started. The tablet kept on rebooting itself over 15 times in a row....i had to use a paper clip in order to reset it. tablet has about 15% of charge left when this started. I am not sure if it related. This issue never occurred until this last .15 update. Also i noticed now they have the application not responding dialog box appears when an application hangs "IMBD", however after you hit kill the application it doesn't do anything and the tablet reboot itself withing 10 sec. ASUS when are you going to be able to fix this?
No reboot so far for five days.

This. After I installed new flash update I keep rebooting when I play youtube video. Kept rebooting 3 times in a row. Won't go near youtube again until it is fixed. Happened in dolphin. Seems to happen every time.
Hi all im having a interesting problem with my touch screen. Infact im not sure its the touch screen or a software bug really. Im runing a Droid X2 with Eclipse 2.2.1 now. Th problem started out when i was texting it would suddenly stop sensing the text keys i was touching. If i locked the screen and re opened it the problem stopped then the problem suddenly only started affecting the send button. and the odd thing is when i changed to swype entry it started working. I sbf'd back to 2.3.4 and the problemed seemed to go away. Then i rooted saved with voodoo root keeper updated to 2.3.5 418 build then restored root and cleared data and loaded eclipse 2.2.1. I belive at this point the problem was fixed then i reloaded all my apps with titanium backup and then suddenly the problem reocored. I went into manage appas and went yo multi touch input app and cleared the data but that didnt fix it any sugjestions? Ps im still not 100% sure its not a harware problem but i think its software.
Wipe and call Verizon to get a new phone. Had same problem but it would happen about 5-20 times a day and no I'm not kidding in fact some days it was worse then 20. Its a bad digitizer. Not software related. I had it on froyo, 2.3.3, 2.3.4, 2.3.5 all rooted and not rooted, on eclipse and a few other roms that I liked. Nothing will fix it and it will get worse. But from all my experience all Droid x2 have a bad screen in one form or another. I went through 3 Droid x2 and all of them had a bad screen.
A fun little experiment to try and I suggest all owners of dx2 should try is call tech support but don't talk to any one just try selecting options and or speaker phone. I found 3 Droid x2 with this whacked glitch that happens on every rom official or not. What to look for is if you try to select an option see if the screen goes shuts off as soon as you hit the option. Its a random glitch and all 3 of my dx2 had this but in different parts of the screen.
My first dx2 had issues with selecting option 1 and 2nd dx2 had issues with options 2 & 5 and 3rd one got it when I tried to hit speaker phone. And I knew it wasn't because of a screen time out cause it would do it even when I was rapidly trying to hit the numbers. This happens with any phone # that has a select option portion. May take a couple phone calls to get the glitch to happen.
But original poster just call Verizon, your original issue should he enough to warrant a replacement as long as its still in warranty. I assume its a bad digitizer cause that's what allows your phone to register what your touching on the screen. Its hardware not software.

Well i would love to do that but the phone is one i put together from parts and im on page plus cellular which rents verizons towers and offers exceptionaly afordable plans you dont get threw verizon. Also I have done some cheking and i really dont think its the touch screen simply because it only ever does this when sending texts and the dead spots on the screen never show up when im doing anythign else.
I would bet it's the keyboard your using. Try SwiftKey and see if that works.
