You have to log into your google account and deactivate it in the settings.
I hate google voice, it needs to be more refined more before integrating it into anything
Tried gv but had bad audio quality so I deactivated it in gv but it was still active. I had to dial *38 finally turn it off. (Sprint)

I want to replace my t-mobile voicemail with google voicemail service.
Does this mean that if people call my regular t-mobile number, their voicemails will be left on google voice? The thing is, I configured my Voicemail service to use Google Voice, and I tested by having my brother call my t-mobile number. However he still went to my t-mobile voicemail! Did I configure it incorrectly or am I missing some key component?
Download Google voice from the market, then run through the setup again and sync it with your gmail account, then it will ask you if you want to use Google voice as your default voicemail and disable t-mobile voicemail. Then that should do it.

I recently installed suprarom and my google voice setup goes alright but for some reason it only does a small bit of the set up and only allows me to view my Voice inbox. it will not continue to set it up for international calling or let me use google voice as my voicemail carrier :c anyone have any ideas for a fix?
Also first post in 3 years O.O
Wouldn't be asking for help if I didn't need it :/

Having problems too with Mikmik rom. I'm gonna try nandroiding back to the stock rom, TB GV there and then go back to the rom of choice and restore GV via TB. You should do the same
Zero issues on Synergy's ROMs. Took some trial and error to get it to work properly though.
Since the idiots at Google and Sprint BROKE GV with that **** ass integration, you have to skip the initial set up screen, then log in. then skip, then go to your "Call" settings and choose it as your voicemail carrier.
All that depends you having it set up properly in the web site as well. Dialing *28 is what I had to do 2 years ago.
I just upgraded from my Samsung Captivate which was running CM10 to the HTC One. One of the things I loved about the old phone was that all my voicemails would show up in my call log and I could play them from there. When I tried setting up GV on the new phone, I got a bunch of error messages and somehow the phone removed my old call forwarding rules and then couldn't reapply them. So I logged out of the Google Voice app and tried again. No dice. Finally, I went back and did it the old fashioned way by manually typing in the MMI code and managed to get the calls forwarded again to GV. When I went to the dialer app to manually switch the voicemail provider to GV, I again get the error messages and when it asks to still switch to the new provider I click OK. However, it kicks out another error message and then shows that nothing has changed and still lists AT&T as the default voicemail provider. So, has anyone managed to get this working properly or have AT&T and HTC once again colluded to completely bork functionality that works oh so well on stock Android?
Just got a response to my support request from HTC. Laughably, they claim they "cannot guarantee full functionality with Play Store applications." That is pretty pathetic. In their quest to differentiate, they eliminated one of the best features of Android in my mind. I hated dialing numbers and using the dialpad to access and control voicemail years ago. When Google made Google Voice available on Android, it was one of the factors that made me choose it over the iPhone. Then they made it even better than visual VM on iOS by integrating it into the dialer. This dialer from HTC is a huge step in the wrong direction. I don't need all this FB and Twitter integration crap. Just let me access my VM in the best possible way.
I have it working but I never got it to work using the Google voice app configuration.
It was still working when I swapped my son card to the HTC one from my gs3.
I had to go into the phone app and change the forwarding numbers manually. Also the voice mail number.
If that doesn't work I think you can contact at&t and they can fix it for you.
Wait...you have your Google voice voicemails showing up in the dialer app so that you can click play and listen to them without going into the GV app? I did manage to get the forwarding set up, but I want the voicemails to show in the dialer like they did on CM10.
Not working on Sprint and HTC One either

Same issue, voicemail set up, but I can not get the call log to show voicemails. Tried unchecking voicemail display as indicated in other forums, but doesn't work either way.
Bump...no dialer integration or notifications is a big problem for me as well.
Instead of making a new thread I will just bump this one. Did anyone managed to get they HTC One to integrate Google Voice visual voicemail into the dialer? I searched everywhere but couldn't find any info on that.
Maybe there are any 3rd party modifications that can fix this issue?
p.s Just to clear things for someone who reads between the lines my GV Voicemail is working fine, what I am trying to figure out is how to integrate it into dialer and get visual voicemail from there.

No luck. I stopped trying. I may give it another go.
Just installed ARHD Google edition Rom and visual google voice voicemail works great in there, but I prefer Sense based Rom so will go back to it. Shame visual voicemail doesn't work on it, seems like HTC broke the compatibility.
If anyone knows a solution that would be great!
Anyone know how to disable and/or uninstall stock voicemail? I want to use Google Voice but can't seem to set it up.
You may need to go on a pc and set it up from there. I used to use Google voice but switched back a while ago so I'm not sure. Download and install the app and check the settings but I think you may have to enable it from the actual Google voice website.
I had trouble with Google Voice, but YouMail works like a champ for me.

Usually there is a voicemail setting in the phone >settings page. From there you assign a voicemail phone number to dial aka your google voice number. Some phones have this in the dialer app or similar settings. It sucks if it's missing since the voicemail button in the dialer won't work and wont allow itself to be modified most of the time. If those settings are missing like they are in the GS5 (im buying a g3 today) then you will have to disable Sprint voicemail and use the phone to setup call forwarding to your google voice number. The google voice app from the Play store will ask you to merge your gvoice number with your sprint number and pick either as the ONLY number. I don't do that part. It will ask you eventually to dial *__________ which is the call forwarding part. If it's integrated into the phone settings it doesn't ask that part usually. You can then call sprint and have them disable the voicemail for your g3's number.
You can also go to google.com/voice and add your number to GV. It will just give you instructions on setting up call forwarding and asking whether to use one number for both services. If you have that sprint phone number setup with another gv account it will be switched to the new one. A real number can only be linked to one GV phone number at a time.

Is Google Voice set up as integrated with your Sprint account? or are you using it as a separate service?
I to had issues with Google voice and it actually sent me a message stating that is was disabled. I went back and set everything up again, but then when I received a voice message it went to Sprint VM. I like Google voice, but I think I will just stick with the Sprint VM for now. You do need to go into your Google web page and set it up from there. I did change plans so that is why it went to the Sprint VM instead of using Google voice.
I have been using Google voicemail for years, much better than Verizon and free. Well since my 5.0 force its not working any longer. I cant seem to figure out how to get it back , anyone??
No one here uses Google voice for Vm??
