After making a backup is safe to go back and rename the backup? I'm trying a few different roms and want some kind of a description of what the backup is.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309703
always try go search or google first. I googled it and found it in 30 seconds.
I think this will help although I didn't read it. I always make a reference on a note file of what that backup is according to the date.

Just got off a midnight, to tired to think. Easy enough, thanks.
your fine renaming them as long as
you don't use spaces in the name

Just make a folder and name it whatever you want, then put the CWM file in it. That way you don't have to change the name of the CWM file.

Ok guys I'm learning to theme. I have spent hours and hours making png's. All my files are named exactly as the ones they are replacing. Same size. Same format. I got it all together. Using apk manager & sdk manager. After recompressing everything and sending to the phone and flash. All I get is an eternal boot loop. Any ideas guys? I'm clueless. I followed instructions step by step I found in theming I've been back through my files and xda, Im unable to find the thread.

Its easier to use 7zip to open the apk as an archive and drag your hdpi files out, they'll be copied not extracted, make your changes to pangs and then drag back in.
Working with the xmls will require decompressing and can get a little more tricky but doing it the above way first or last will cut down on errors.

Thanks man. I've got about 12 hours invested so far...plan on a few more tonight trying the recommended method. I'm learning once you close a folder, DO NOT reopen it. You always find something else you can change. Who knows maybe this will be something I can share. (Depending on outcome) thanks again EB I will hit thanks when I get my kids off the PC.

I'm running void forever, reason:streamlined. Now here's my question. I love Go contacts/dialer/go SMS pro/go keyboard but as you know void comes with stock dialer/contacts. I've unzipped void.zip to take a look at the system/app folder. I deleted what I needed to delete than rezipped the file and flashed but the data wasn't working. Is there an easier way to delete stock dialer/contacts w/o getting FC's

You need to resign it...

Titanium Backup? Try deleting with that.

Already tried, there are two things dialer and dialer storage same for contacts. Deleting these causes a continuous FC which causes me to reflash the rom

I've done all of this with root explorer but how do I resign the modified void zip

Is it possible to make a flammable zip to incorporate settings options from one Rom to another?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Flashable
Autocorrect strikes again
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
No. That would cause nothing but issues that you would not like.
There use to be a build prop script file that tweaks certain background processes. But can't remember the name.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the response
I am running windows could any one point me to a program or programs that would help me accomplish adding in the extra settings id like to add not replace if that helps
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
The problem with this goal (I wish you could do it) is the files that settings are stored in vary from rom to rom. So copying a file for example named phone_settings.xml that contains all your preferences and making a flashable package of all those xml files, then flashing that set of files in another rom where the file might be called phone_preferences.xml, the flash would fail. So unless every rom uses the exact same names this cannot be done.
What I was meaning with the second question is there a way to do it other than a flashable zip
Id like to have it like jelly bam is with the settings from other roms combined in one
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
As I explained, unless every file with your preferences would have to have the same files in the new rom. They usually don't. Its a good idea, it just can't happen.
Ok I thought you were talking about a zip not doing a complete build

Thanks I guess I'm just stuck hoping the dev will see fit to add those features in the future
Still would like to learn more and start doing a little cooking of my own

I cleared everything and I cant see the "boot" that im using from the slickv2final
Do i have to convert it .zip? Its currently in Disc Image File, never seen this before? is it like .img or something?
Not sure I understand your problem. You can't see your bootanimation?

I go to my bootloader and the Rom isn't showing up, I had to convert it winzip

Still not clear... What are you trying to do and what steps are you taking to do that?
