I saw a 25$ toshiba alternative to the HTC scribe.. Was just wondering if anyone could give me a list of the pros and cons of each?
Could you share a link please?
interesting...
yes, please give us a way to look into this...sounds interesting.
search the forum, there is already a thread about this somewhere
Fujitsu stylus/pen ~ Part# FPCPN36AP
Ordered mine from B&H Photo (sorry, can't post link).
Pretty much isn't it that the toshiba pen only has 1 button, so you can only highlight text from it. The HTC has 2 buttons, so you can highlight and erase from those buttons.

I bought the black HTC Scribe from Amazon for $24. It was new/bulk. It is now out of stock. Sorry about that.

And I believe the price went to $80 or $90 prior to going out of stock (craziness!). Just grab a Fujitsu pen (it'll do what you need it to do, minus the second button the HTC scribe/stylus has). Your choice.

Yea sadly im going to have to go with the more expensive scribe this time. Not the outrageous price but from ebay for 55. I just really need that button and I think anyone who will be using this to take notes in a fast paced class also need an erase button. It is hard enough for me to keep up in class with a pencil and paper, if I had to go through some steps to erase and then some steps to get back to the pen I will be falling behind during the lecture which I just cant do.
I can make a few extra taps if it means saving that much money, I am not "note taking in a fast paced class environment" so much as may be highlighting stuff I need to know or remember as I go with a few extra side notes or what not.
Thanks guys.

You can get the HTC pen from Sprint for 49. Maybe even a little cheaper from a Sprint store.

I think Shifts are unlocked at least the ones that are offered on eBay, afaik. But in order to use the WinMo side fully, you have to liberate it, HardSPL and install one of the ROMs available on this forum to enable GPS. HTC crippled WinMo and locked a lot of functionalities such as GPS, SD card access, Phone, Blue Tooth, and WiFi. Currently we are able to get GPS functioning. We are still working on microphone, video, phone, BT, WiFi and SD.
Thanks

i have one for sale, unlocked
used it 3 times since i bought it,
where u located ?
im in canada (toronto)
looking for $1200 usd
let me know if interested
thanks!
Negri Electronics carries them and can ship them anywhere! I've bought numerous devices from them!
Negri - $785!
Just picked up mine here:
http://www.negrielectronics.com/product_info.php?products_id=2159
Free shipping!
Where are you located? I'd like to sell mine. It's been used less than half-dozen times. It's fully unlocked and liberated, but I can put it back to original factory default. I'd sell it for US$1000 if you pay for shipping. I am in Brazil, but I can arrange for a friend who lives in the US to take it up with her so so that you pay only for domestic shipping (if you are in the US, that is!)
Probably you need to look at the market place. There is someone selling it.
Why are you selling your Shift?
Are you not happy with it? I have an AT&T Tilt and it is WAY too small for my eyes and hands. I want a phone that is at least twice this size. Looks like the Shift is ideal for me. I'm trying to scrape up enough $$$ to buy one. But when I saw two folks on this thread wanting to sell theirs it worries me a little...
I wouldnt worry about it. Different people have different needs.
I love the shift and even with the failings (no bluetooth or wifi on windows mobile side, etc) it's a great unit.
But it's not really a phone. If you are looking to replace the tilt you might be better looking at an Advantage. Double the screen size, a powerhouse and also a pretty good phone. The advantage would be a double size increase from the tilt IMHO and the shift a four times increase.

Yes. I completely agree with you. I use my shift most of the time on vista side to take notes and read ebooks and listen to audio books. If I could increase the RAM to 2GB I would like to opt out from Dell 620, which I use for .NET and BizTalk development. Once I am done with Vista, I switch to WinMo to get the emails from various email providers, again as soon as I go into a meeting I switch to Vista. That way I found a job for both Samsung Omnia (phone) and Shift personal communicator. I use my advantage as a GPS, personal communicator (IM, email, SMS). I use my Advantage as personal computing power house. I recently retired HTC Hermes and Tilt before switching to Omnia and Shift. Then I found I might need another system which is not small like phone and not big like shift for majority of communication deals. So, I found HTC Advantage as the solution. I got Omnia as handy camera and camcorder (5MP camera and decent camcorder 640x480 with 30fps) and the latest ROM update from Samsung fixed a lot of issues, but still I find having a keyboard would be easier to do a lot of IM and SMS. . Once I got this Shift, I temporarily retired Sony PRS 500. Eventhough it is cool on eyes while you are reading for more than couple of hours, I feel like carrying a lot of gadgets while flying is painful, taking them out and putting them back into the bags is pretty awful especially if you are running out of time.

Lucky bastard! That thing is awful.
I found this iPhone case on DealExtreme. Cost me only $1.68, shipping included. Cheap one to use in the gym. Couldn't fit any better, has fleece on the inside and feels overall hundred times better than the original one. I strongly recommend it even though it has a really ugly logo on it.
iphone? don't use such foul language in these forums
I would of given it free but it went in the bin after about a week.
i've got a new unopened one you can havw for £10 + p+p. let me know

I picked up one of THESE on ebay.
I prefer this style to the velvety black original one that came with the phone. It's also a bit thicker and the rib around it adds some drop tolerance to the phone when it's in the case.
This is a lot like the one that came with my Elf when I got that.

I rather like the case provided. It just works. My only gripe is that it does attract fluff and stuff.
Having said that, I am awaiting HTC's silicon case. I'll be comparing the two, then making my mind up which to stick with.
Arrr, lost mine too. Actually quite liked it. Does anyone want to sell me theirs cheaply? Not £10 though, I'll get HTCs official case for that.
£5 inc p&p for an as new condition?

Hi,
I have a spare original if you still need one.
Pm Me if interested.
Nogs
pay for the postage and buy me a pint and ill send you mine
although i cant imagine why anyone would want the damn awful thing, offers no protection, looks cheap and the stylus falls out everytime you remove the HD from it
but mines sat here on the shelf if you want it.
first to reply in here gets it as i dont want shed loads of pm's saying "is it still available"!!!! lol
I use the original case to take the fingerprints off the screen!!!! it works perfect!!!!
Does anyone still have one of these? Willing to pay pp and a bit extra.
Okay, so since I'm having an issue with the styluses (I believe it's proper grammer?) I'd like to purchase one from one of you guys here. If i'm not mistaken, when you buy a New Tilt 2 It comes with an extra stylus. So, I want the original charocoal stylus. If anyone has one PM me or just post here. It'd be greatly appreciated.
Actually, since you asked...
From wikipedia:
There exists minor controversy about the correct pluralization of "stylus". The form "styli" or even "stylii" has become acceptable, even among major American manufacturers of styluses and online dictionaries, based on the assertion that it is a direct loanword from Latin. However, "stylus" is in fact an English word based on the Latin word "stilus", and is more appropriately pluralized in English as "styluses". Use of "stylii" is considered incorrect, as it is based on the nonexistent Latin word "stylius".

So, you are indeed correct! lol sorry, I just get a kick out of that every time I hear it.
Wow lol, so I have been right the whole time. I'm always seeing threads where people say "styli" and I get discouraged from using "styluses" in fear I may be wrong. This clears up everything and now... I will rule the world of styluses...
Please post your request in the marketplace forum.

I just bought 3 through HTCPedia and though the price was good (3 for $19.99 incl. shipping) they turned out to be for Touch Pro 2 not the Tilt 2, so they were gray and chrome as opposed to charcoal and chrome. When I went back and looked at the site closer, I found I could have bought the AT&T colored stylus at $9.99 for one. I also wanted to comment on one peculiar thing about my purchase. Shipping within the US is free, okay great it takes 7-8 days to arrive, but it was free. When they show up, they show up in an envelope smaller than normal first class mail which begs the question, why in the hell did I have to wait 8 days for a tiny envelope to make it from one coast to the other when even standard mail would have maid it in 3? Really FedEx ground is the choice for sending an envelope than was barely 3" x 5"??
If I order again, maybe I will send them a SASE. Ha

After I bought the View last week I had some buyers remorse because of seemed like a big cell phone without a phone. Then to my surprise HC was released which improved everything. I love the Scribe technology and that was the major reason for the purchase. Now with HC the integration is better and that makes this is a truly unique device.
My whole family is now together and everyone is pulling out their new gadgets which include a lot of Kindle Fires. When they saw the View and they saw the Scibe their jaws dropped. It is the best valed tablet today.
I will be using this in the office and in meetings and will leave the iPad at home.
I am glad to hear the scribe feature works well in HC. I am definitely getting a View.
Glad to hear it, I think it the best bang for the buck and has a great feel to it.. I can't wait to get one..
Plus, I have unlimited text messaging & picture messaging on my device? Anyone else have this, too?

Call 1 (800) SPRINT-1, and they will provide a low priced tip, the sticker that comes with the Scribe pen says that eventually the tip will need to be replaced and to contat your service provider for a replacement tip. Please let me know how much it's gonna cost you.

I'm all in also. Was thinking about holding off until the 8 Pro... especially since it's supposed to have a flat screen, but nah. A foldable seems like it'll be more fun.
Not really concerned about the price or or any other first glance, hot takes from influencers. I am however concerned about durability as I've never had a folding device. I made sure to select the Pixel protection (or whatever the heck it's called) option from the Google Store.
Anyhow, you should start the traditional pre-order/shipping/delivery thread.
Edit: I started the shipping thread.
For the price of a new Google Pixel Fold I'd prefer to buy a 90s Japanese hatchback instead

Currently have a fold3 and have pre-ordered the pixel fold. Love the software of the zfold and think it's a better phone. Unfortunately the aspect ratio is rubbish and this is the one place pixel has it nailed which is why I pre-ordered. Currently have the watch 5 pro so not sure which watch to keep and which to sell.
Also I'm looking at building some custom ROMs again which I haven't been able to do on zfold 3

Getting anything from the pixel 7 booting like aicp or paranoid Android booted won't be too difficult but how well they'll work with the dual screen is a bigger question. Hopefully some more talented people than me will work on the fold as well
I have about the same luck with folders as I do rectangles as far as durability goes so I'm not losing sleep over it.
I can say for sure, it's hard to go back to the old rectangle after having a folding phone. You can, it just feels so limiting.

Thx for the reassurance on durability. First foldable I'll have, so wasn't sure... hence the protection.
In fairness I don't break too many phones and while there is an inherent weakness in the screen and folding mechanism that doesn't exist with a rectangle your handling tends to necessarily be more careful.
I'm not talking about walking around on eggshells, it's the form factor itself. Foldable are heavy enough that when dropped in your jacket pocket they can actually swing the jacket around to where it will hit the car door when you get in the car. Little things like that keep you a bit more aware of the phone more than you are with a rectangle.
You also don't handle it the same way because you may or may not unfold it, just that possibility makes you more particular about how you hold it and keeps you from whipping it out and waving it about in the same way you do with a rectangle. It's a small thing but it's present.
I guess an easy way to quantify it might be to wander over to the Z fold forums and give them a quick look for issues. Pick an older phone like the Z fold 2 to give people time to break them and post about it. You won't see much there, you can break them but they're not as fragile as you might think. I know I went in expecting the worst but for me the only thing that surprised was what they survived through; not what they didn't.

I've had the z fold 3 for nearly 2 years and have dropped it more times than I care to remember. Durability wise the only issue I've had is the inner screen protector. It comes unstuck/fractures along the crease. You can remove it but I just had mine replaced twice but Samsung for £10 a time
I took the screen protector off the second, left the first one on: The Z fold 1 was a little sketchy compared to the second. After some time with the ZF2 I felt comfortable removing it, feels better when swiping without it.
Thx for the responses. Wasn't really concerned about the outer portion... mainly the screen, so thanks for adding stuff about the protector in there. The only thing I've heard of regarding the Z Fold series was the protector bubbling.
I haven't broken a phone since the Nexus 4. Even then, it was just the back glass Still have it in my collection as a matter of fact.
Anyhow, I'm no longer slightly concerned about screen issues and didn't want to derail this thread. Back to being about who is in.
Im very tempted to be honest, I love the form factor, and I a always loved pixels. I'm in the UK, but can't seem to get the option to trade in my Fold 4 though.
Quick question though, with the google store, does the funds get taken from the account as soon as you ore order? Or when it ships.
