I used Droid Explorer to create a backup of my Gapps. It packed it into a signed zip file that I'm pretty sure will work with xRecovery, or am I wrong?
Anyway, questions in the title. I want get the new market .11 and the updated gtalk (the one with the blue UI) back.
Thanks in advance
Cheers
on beta 2 there are the latest gapps.
so use the those(updated).
Thanks for the reply mate. I have used those. Just found out a short while ago that the Gtalk app is the latest one for Froyo before the Gingerbread version which has Video chat support.
I know I can install the new market (.11) but I'm not sure how to go about doing that and many people have complained about the market FCs after they installed the new one.
new neon market is awesome.
is in greenglow theme.

Credit goes to BrwnSuperman for finding these and then I took them and put them in a cwm flashable zip. So, I figured I would post this in the Development section (Mods feel free to move it if you see fit) since many of us are on mtd roms and most of these roms have been updated to the new 2.3.5 Android code. Here are the updated 2.3.5 GB gapps: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?67t2077vf4q3zd6 Included are the new gtalk, new car home, new market, updated google search, and all the rest of the little system service apps etc. that can't be downloaded from the market. All (I think) updated to 2.3.5. Flash from cwm recovery and enjoy.
Edit: here is a mirror as it was reported that there was a problem with the mediafire link: http://www.multiupload.com/Q184Q5YS09

curious
just noticed that i have not installed GAPPS since i first came on board on the 07/04 build, i also installed the new market..not sure if that has anything to do with it......so has anyone else installed the new market and from there havent had any issues? running the 07/28 build....and still the new market works...
Can't Google apps be updated via the market...I flashed the one listed in the OP of the CM7 thread, but have updated through the market, so are these newer than that?
Also, if I am on CM7 7/18 winch is Android 2.3.4...would flashing this screw up something?

Well, I know google talk can't be updated through the market and yes, these are the gapps that came from the nexus 2.3.5 code release earlier this week. All the little google services apps are updated as well, not just the main apps. You can just wipe cache/dalvik and flash these but you might have to erase the old ones manually.
Can I remove some of the apk that I am not going to use in the gapps.zip?
Just installed on latest CM7 (not the nightly), runs good. I've been wanting this new gtalk, if only it could be updated via the market. Thanks thanks

You rock, thanks! I don't think there's a problem with your link, my phone wouldn't download any zip files from mediafire yesterday.

So I hope I am not the only one with this issue, but when I flash it either on CM7 or JTs AOSP 2.3.5 rom, after I select what apps I want, the loading just keeps spinning and spinning until I rotate the screen, then I select to install, then it keeps spinning again until I rotate back, and I have to do that with EVERY app during the initial app installs, and this was also after a complete wipe of DATA, cache and Dalvik

Weird, first I've heard of that. I'm guessing you are the only one with that issue.

Hey guys,
I found nowhere a PDroid and deodex-patch for LEWA, so I decided to make one. I'll update it weekly if you're interested in, so just let me know. The PDroid-patch is on ver. 1.31, cuz ver. 1.32 isn't working.
Now I made a patch for CM9 RC1 by Maclaw, too.
CM9 - Instructions
1. Download the actual patch and copy it to your sdcard.
2. Boot into CWM (I'm using CMW 5)
4. Flash the file and wait till it finishes.
6. Reboot.
7. Install the PDroid app from PlayStore.

LEWA - Instructions
INSTALLATION
1. Download the actual patch and copy it to your sdcard.
2. Boot into CWM (I'm using CMW 5)
3. Mount /system ! It's my 1st flashable .zip, maybe I'll fiy that in next update.
4. Flash the file and wait till it finishes.
5. You have to install your GApps again, cuz the /system/app folder was deleted temporally.
6. Reboot, the first boot after patching will need more time, so don't worry!
7. Install the PDroid app from PlayStore
IMPORTANT: When you're updating LEWA, you'll have to flash the whole ROM, the OTA update won't work!

Probably not with THIS patch, but 99% with the new patch I'll make for the new version. In this patch are all system apps and framework, when the LEWA team is updating, the patch-files have to be updated too.
IMPORTANT: When you're updating LEWA, you'll have to flash the whole ROM, OTA-updating won't work, cuz the update needs odexed files, deodexed files can't be updated.
edit: Are the google apps working without flashing them?
I didn't check if the gapps were working without installing them again. As now we installed your deodex patch, maybe the next one won't have to delete /system/apps
New patch created.
UPDATE
I created a new patch for CM9 and I'll do it for LEWA if someone is interested.
Sry for double posting, but I don't know how to bring the thread up to light without doing that.

Hi there. I installed Cyanogenmod 10 ROM to my Vibrant yesterday, and everything seems fine so far excepto for one thing: there seem to be certain apps that i can't install, such as ColorNotes, Angry Birds or even Google Maps. They download fine, but never get to finish installing, this is the message I get: "Unknown error code during installation of the application: "-24" "
Cyanogenmod 10.1 version: 10.1 - 20130118 - NIGHTLY - vibrantmtd
Compilation number: cm_vibrantmtd-userdebug 4.2.1 JOP40D ENG..20130118.042937 test-keys
Kernel: 3.0.54-geedcf0c [email protected] #1
Thanks for your help.
Oh, by the way: how can I change my cellphone name? You know, from SGS-T959 to BADASS or something,

I googled and didn't find the same issue anywhere. Also followed the instructions about installing CM10.1, used ClockworkMod to erase data/sys-parts, data cache and Dalvik cache
I'm gonna try again, see what happens

! I have no idea if they are 3rd party. This is the file name: gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip
Would that be the problem?
You need to install Gapps 20121011 JB file Ive found out the hard way that the wrong Gapp file affects the successful install even though they technically shouldn't matter. But nun the less, after trying different gapp files Ive come to know which one runs with the ROM it needs
for example CM10.1 needs the 20121211 gapps file where as CM 10.0 needs 20121011

Oh, I will download it right away! Just to be sure,do I just have to flash the new gapps file, or do I need to uninstall the previous one? In that case, how do I do it? With apps manager like any other app?
Thanks and sorry for being a Noob! xC

Hello guys! I want to ask you guys some questions. First of all what is ''NIGHTLY'' and ''STABLE'' means?
For example i donwloaded the CM. Should i download all Nightly 1, Nightly 2, Nightly 3...? Or just can i download the last one?
And my final question. What is ''MileStone'' and ''Release Candidate'' means? Thank you so much! (sorry for my weak english. I hope i can tell u guys my problems.)
Some other questions on this topic.
You guys know Honami MoonWalker ROM. Some users says V6 is not that stable than V5.5. Most of them says V5.5 is better than V.6.
I search a lot but where can i find the V5.5?
Nightly means a build in an early stage of development.
MileStone was a CM 10.2 version released before Release Candidate. In general, MileStone means a big progress.
Stable stands for CyanogenMod here 10.2, which has been fully fixed recently. By saying fully fixed, I mean the source, not the build for our device.Always be sure to download the latest build, you don't need the ones released before.
So, STABLE > MILESTONE > (BETA) > (ALPHA) > NIGHTLY
Be sure to make a backup of your data before doing anything. Ensure your bootloader is unlocked, then flash a kernel with recovery. Once you are there, you need to wipe system, data and cache partitions so there are no leftovers from the previous rom and everything works fine.

I will use Phantom kernel with CyanogenMod 10.2. LINK There is 2 options. 1-) MileStone 2-) Release Candidate. Which one should i download. In kernel's page dev says i can use that kernel on CM or stock based roms. Can i really?
Or should i use GNU kernel with CM 10.2 LINK. (Man i really appreciate your patience. If i were you i would kill my self for this stu**d questions )
The Phantom kernel is meant for CM 10 roms based on Android 4.1.2. In each CM release you download there is a kernel that is installed automatically when flashing the rom. Of course, you need any kernel with recovery to be able to flash the rom. Release Candidate is newer than MileStone, the builds are listed in chronological order in the thread. Also, when you will be updating your rom to the latest release, don't forget to wipe cache and dalvik cache. If something is not working properly after the update, it means you should try wiping data too, but be careful because that's where all your apps are located.
To be honest, trial and error is the best way of learning stuff, if you have a backup of course.
I can recommend you a really nice app called "Nandroid Manager". It lets you restore apps and their data from backups made in recovery. Keep in mind that it doesn't support CM 10.2's inbuilt Superuser app so you will need to download SuperSU from Play store to be able to use it.
