There r 2 ways to flash a rom. One is using odin & second by using cwm recovery. Flashing by cwm is safer den flashing with odin. Before flashing any rom, dont forget to wipe data, wipe dalvik cache & cache partition. If u dont wipe, u get bootloops. 1 more thing, make a nandroid backup before u flash or edit system files.

Yes this was the first thing I tried. Unfortunately no success.
Do this again with formatting /system then flash ROM again.
Haha I am totally at a loss as to what you are asking me to try.. my friend flashed the phone for me and can't get him to do it again. It's only my phone signal and player pro that seems to be not working are you sure I need to flash my phone again?
I got also the problem before..and the only thing that helps me is reflash..
Was yr ph on 2.2 or 2.3 b4 u flash cm7?

Stock 2.3 means Gingerbread roms like 2.3.3 or 2.3.4. U will find d stock roms on samfirmware.com or sammobile.com. As u said u r using on cm7, u will have to flash a full package rom instead of one package. A full package means it should have 4 files in d .zip file.

Can i flash again another custom rom after i flash a custom rom?

Can i flash again another custom rom after i flash a custom rom? because i never try this im using a custom rom now and i want to try another rom
yea man you can
just follow the same process
and be sure to look for right clock work tho
yea man Salamat (Thanks in english) because i want to try "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425264" i already hit the thanks button
While flashing custom roms just read d instructions. Normally they r on d 1st post. Know d difference between cyanogenmod & stock roms. Dey r way too different.

yea i agree with demnic
you should know the difference and steps are already there
but once you get a hang it
it is easy (atleast i think so )
Once you start flashing custom roms, you will get the hang of it
Yes dude u can, i flashed a new rom on class (boring teacher) cuz the rom i had was crashing and it worked right away, u just need to do the wipe data, factory reset, ... (the usual stuff to install a new rom), but u can do it if ur already on gingerbread... at least it worked for me for custom roms (if u wanna install a stockrom u need odin)
good luck!

dude... the most boring teacher i've ever met... and on my way to the class the rom started to malfunction so... i've got an excuse and i was bored xDDD
it worked pretty fine actually... cwm did all the work... i've installed the rom and do the 6 classics wipe/format and it was functional on the same class (oh and btw i was 30 min late to that class xD, so it works fast too, i think it was ready on like 15-20 minutes with just a bit of concentration -> i needed to look at the class too )
anyway... u may or may not need to do all the wipes, but at least in my experience it's always better if u do wipe all (i've installed like 9 roms this week cuz the stockrom 2.3.6 on my country was REEEALLY lame and slow... and if u don't wipe the new rom can function normally, but in my case i've got some bugs that were solved wiping)
so... good luck!
Ive wiped ashed and odin my phone a hole lot almost every day aeast 9 times since april 2011
But ive made an challenge with my brother that if i dont flash any rom in the next week then i wil get 50 bucks from him and i need to ve at stock unrooted so this week no fun for me

[Q] Hey guys! Need help with my SGA

Hey all I've been browsing the forum for a couple of days and decided to join so I can speak with you all ok so I've been pretty scared with all this android modding and rooting etc. because its more difficult than anything I have done before u.u I have already semi-bricked a Galaxy Mini recovered it, then hard bricked it by flashing the wrong recovery but anyways I got a SGA like three weeks ago and I am one of those guys who like to mod/flash everything and I don't like the idea of my Ace being Stock xD (I have a flashed xbox 360, modded wii, and jailbroken ps3 and have done jailbroken/unlocked iphones) anyway I wanted help on how to get started on all of this, my phone is currently:
Stock Rom Carrier: Claro
Froyo 2.2.1
And I want to install any of these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458227
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341426
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1461948
Can anyone guide me to accomplish this?
And perhaps I can learn from the one who helps me
PS: I have been reading on this forum for a whole week xD
P.S.: b4 I post this let me tell u that i have been reading xda forums for a whole year b4 joining
Now lets get back to work
So u r on FROYO huh ????to root on FROYO you can use SUPERONE CLICK ..they have a tutorial too ..next up why dont u upgrade to gingerbread ????then ull be able to flash CM7..just google "2.3.4 for Samsung galaxy ace androidadvices.com.. they have a good tutorial too ....then google" root Samsung galaxy ace 2.3.4" to root on gingerbread (after u have upgraded offcourse)...hit the thanks button if I helped ..

Wow! a whole year! well I couldn't resist and joined xD this forum seems to have an awesome community
Anyway I kinda knew about the superone click but umm if I root with that then I can go right ahead and install CWM and Custom Roms?
Install CWM4 or 5 for Galaxy Ace, you shouldn't need Root for this. You can find them on this Forum if you look. This will replace your stock recovery. Once this is done you place your ROM on the SD card, reboot into recovery and hit install from Zip then choose your new ROM. Simple as that.
If you need any more help let me know

Ok so I don't need root to install Custom Roms?
And I don't need to upgrade the FW to Gingerbread or anything because I've been reading a lot about this and I'm kinda confused?
-----Edit-----
Also don't I need to make a backup or anything? xD because I don't want to brick my Ace its the only phone I have right now.
U don't need root to install cwm 5 ..well I think u should upgrade your firmware to 2.3.xx because most of the roms for SGA are based on gingerbread .ie they need gingerbread basebands ...if u flash them on your FROYO phone u will BRICK your phone !!!!!
Btw I always got what I needed In xda by googleing so I never felt the need to join xda ..

Sure you could make a back-up, it is always good to have just in case. You can't restore a stock ROM through recovery, you'll just get a boot loop, but there are other methods to restore your stock back-up. Froyo to Gingerbread is no problem, it is Gingerbread to Froyo that it becomes more complicated.
EDIT: But some ROM's do require you to be on 2.3.x so you could do an official update to Gingerbread to "ensure" everything goes smoothly.

Also what happens if I accidentaly flash a Custom Rom made for FROYO when my phone is on Gingerbread FW?
Sorry for all these questions
Well, they don't say. Why not be safe and flash a stock 2.3.x ROM with ODIN. Better to be safe then sorry right?! Are you familiar with ODIN?
Yes I have used ODIN in the past before but only with the One Package option.
-----Edit-----
And if I where to flash that stock firmware which one should I use European?
Yup, that is what you'll be doing. I wrote a little tutorial on it a while ago, the link is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408974&highlight=2+3+6+update
go ahead and use the European open version.

Ultra-full wipe with CWM before installing stock ROM, any risk to brick?

Hello everybodies,
I want to give my Samsung Galaxy S2 to my mum after buying myself a nice and warm S3! ^_^
Here's what I'm planning to do:
1/ Wipe with CWM: /cache, /data, /system, dalvik, battery stats, sdcard and external-sdcard, so really everything!
2/ Reboot into Download mode afterwards and flash a stock ROM
My question is: can I do that? Or if I wipe all this stuff I risk not being able to boot in Download mode?
I'm currently using OlloS2 LPX based ROM.

I know I could find the answer by myself, but I heard that the ROMs LQ5 and LPM have a chance to brick the phone. Therefore, which is the latest safe stock ROM?
U could tru any aokp based rom...they are all safe...
If not search safe ics kernel in search tool and u ll find.some post about wich kernel is safe and.wich not

Thanks for all. I just flashed LPX and everything ran smoothly.
I did some research for a friend, that needed an ICS sammy rom and just for sum up, any ICS sammy version released or built befor july are safe. Since 9 of july samsung included the erease_emmc_cap lineain their Kernels. so...
the problem is triggered when u want to make a wipe/factory reset. if not u can use them without problems
Yeah I also read that ROMs LQ5 and above have a high risk to brick the phone if any wipe is used with CWM using the CF-Root kernels of these ROMs. Is this what you're talking about?
I've actually formatted the internal memory many times when changing ROMs. The bootloader and kernel is on a hidden partition.

[Q]about compatibity of roms

I tired from asking every time I wanna flash new rom if it's compatible or not or i should full wipe or not ...I need to know by simple knowledge how I can get compatibility of all roms like this
Stock rom to custom correct or not & what I need to do if correct or not
Custom rom to custom rom directly correct or not & what I need to do if correct or not
Custom rom to stock rom correct or not & what I need to do if correct or not
& if upgrade from ics or ginger braed to gb directly it's correct or not and what I should do if it's correct or not
& what about downgrade from gb to ics ?
& what about xwlsx or xwlsw ?
Last qaution ..now I'm in neatrom lite v4.8 and I need to flash disaster rom v11 it's compatible or I have to do something & what about wipe ?
I need to know when I should wipe cach and when i should wipe data & when I should wipe delivk

Short story: Read the OP of every ROM you flash. It will say something such as "Coming from another ROM" and have instructions. The condensed version is:
-Full wipe for changing between android versions
-Full wipe for changing between ROMs
-Don't (have to) wipe for upgrading the ROM to a newer version of itself. (unless stated to in thread to do so, & android version doesn't upgrade/downgrade)
So what about change from neatrom to disaster it need full wipe like u say >full wipe for changing between roms
And do u mean by full wipe = wipe cach + wipe data + wipe devkin ?
Okey ..but what about system formating when I should do it ?

Always do a full-wipe to avoid issues! (bootloop,force closes,random reboots,freezes,etc..)
mate download 2 things gsromnuke & gskernelwipe by hawkerpaul (flash them like u flash rom) and everytime u want try new rom use gsromnuke and flash new rom , if u want flash new kernel use kernelwipe before flash how mate previously said to avoid problems.
a about rom compability as long u flash rom designed for ur device i asume u got international gt-9100 u will be safe dnt matter its stock, custom stock or cm.
