Do a quick search--not possible right now.
You can have "S-On *Unlocked*" which will let you flash a custom recovery/system/kernel, effectively it lets you do anything you would normally do with S-OFF, the glaring ommision? flashing radio's, but you could always RUU to a new build including a radio, then revert back your recovery and backup if you wanted the newest radio... more at www.htcdev.com

If you had taken the time to properly search - you would see that it's currently not possible to S-OFF.
But it is possible to have S-ON Unlocked which allows us to do pretty much everything we need anyway.

A very good answer! However there is no promise that an RUU will be released. Updating radios are currently possible with s-on devices by only two methods
RUU (which is easiest however may not be released)
OTA (stock recovery required)
s-on unlock

I can't believe I'm writing a guide on how to use a forum! no disrespect
Not trying to be mean, but I guess you have never used a forum before! Forums have been around for as long as the internet has. There are stickies and rules on the top of every type of forum on the internet from cooking forums, to medical forums, to cellphone forums! People usually read the stickies in the forums first, before posting anything. Sometimes it says RULES, and sometimes it says READ ME FIRST etc. They have been posted there by people like you and me and sometimes the moderator to cut down on clutter and answer a lot of questions. The moderator or MOD has the ability to make those stick on top of the forum page so they can always be visible and read

I read, however on forums with very large amounts of post its hard to read everything. Don't misunderstand me, I knew this answer before I opened the thread. But I've been using XDA for two years and still can't reply in development.... So this is me working on that.
Anyways the stickies and noob guides cover this very well, thanks to those taking the time to make those threads.

Anything covers this really well!
The three or four stickies, the XDA search feature, GOOGLE search feature, etc. How do people find their way here looking for s-off and not know that they can't get it? It doesn't make sense to me.

To OP this is totally doable by your self and you need patience and as im sure you will find out the method is a bit under the table. If it reads fine you are good to go if it does not read the phone you need to fix the diag drivers instructions here. Now you are ready to start instructions here at xda but in the epic4g subforum in this thread all the instructions are the same but you can skip 11. The only purpose of 11 is to get the MSL/SPC which you already have. You are done at step 17 but if you need mms to work check the EVO4G forums pretty similar to the epic but there is an extra menu or 2 but 3D and 4G should be the same.

sorry to say but the infomation you gave him would not work on 3VO because it has some sort of protection that prevents it from reading memory locations with cdma workshop, qxdm and other programs that alot of people including myself are trying to figure out why

that's their fault for going with a Motorola.
although, Motorola isn't always to blame for locked bootloaders. The new RAZR for instance... Moto has offered it with the bootloader unlocked(and all countries getting the phone are receiving it that way). Good ol' Verizon didn't like that though and has ensured that it is remaining locked here in the US.

yeah I almost considered buying the bionic, glad I didn't. I planned to buy it after the development section started booming, it still hasn't. A few ROM's yes but not much to choose from and most are not well polished ROM's.
The rezound section here surprisingly looks very promising. I may have to get me one, again imma wait until development kicks off further here before giving up my droid incredible.
This is a factory s-off phone, done with an engineering sim. Don't get your hopes up, all it does is give Chingy a head start on his roms, it doesn't give users a way to s-off yet.

Hi all, sorry if this has been brought up and debunked already, and with my limited knowledge of the rooting process this may not be possible but I saw this:

From what I can tell, the Amaze isn't listed on the HTCDev site to unlock the bootloader either, but it sounds like the process still worked. Then one of the root methods was used for permanent root.
I don't have the level of expertise to try this safely, but hadn't seen anything about this elsewhere in the forum yet so thought I'd offer it up.
The bootloader has not been unlocked yet so that is only temp root.

I understand, however it seems the Amaze's bootloader was unlocked via the HTCDev website despite not technically being listed as a supported device either. Has anyone tried this with the Rezound yet?
I feel if that had been done and it worked it would be all over this site and the net.

Don't post questions in the Development forum. That was a huge issue in the Desire Section. It makes it too hard to see what is what. The Rezound General, which is what this thread is in, is also a Q+A section.
I tried with my Rezound...didn't work.

There's just one thing striking me again... IF we had a periodically updated list of all maintained Custom ROMs, the development forum would be a LOT easier to overlook!
It's kinda hard for someone who starts reading the development forum NOW after months of posts!
Maybe if we could find a mod that is kind enough to make a sticky Custom ROM list... That would prevent newer users from starting threads like this one and our more experienced users from ripping their hair out because they feel horrible about those threads...

Who the f*ck are you? If you dont like the threads being closed then you can kindly walk the f*ck right back out or go back to lurking. Of course nobody can respond, the thread is close. Would you rather I just close a thread and not say anything at all with no reason as to why the thread was closed?

You realize with a response like that, I had to say it. At any rate, as I stated before, I think its great that someone takes the time to close threads, and why they are closed. Your attitude is a little harsh (as demonstrated by the above response) and your personal insults are pretty out of place as well. But hey, this is the internet after all, isnt it?

Well, to be quite honest with you, I mod several forums, so when I log on XDA I have numerous threads/posts I have to deal with. Im not complaining, as it comes with the job and I like it, but I cant please EVERYONE in every forum. A lot of users have voiced out that they dont like it when a Mod closes a thread with little or no response. I try to at least give a (vague) reason as to why the thread was closed so that it makes some sense. I could just close a thread and walk away, but I dont think thats very proactive or professional. May the snide or curt comments arent professional either, but its the lesser of the two IMO.
In fact, Ive been wanting to update my phone to the latest AOKP all day, but Ive been too busy in the Mod forum and with all my other forums dealing with posts/threads and for whatever reason, a ton of April Fools threads. Work comes first before play, so Im still dealing with those before I can flash.

You know, XDA isn't the only place on the internet where you can find information and ask questions about android and ics and etc. If you're sick of the snide, sarcastic, smart a** remarks around here, just ask your question elsewhere. There are plenty of other great places to do that. The information around here is excellent, and I find many useful things around here. But that's the thing. FIND. If I ever have to ASK anything, I ask somewhere else, because I've learned this kind of stuff happens here. And you know, if that's how this forum is going to be then that's fine, Red and everybody else can deal with things how however they want, and if we don't like it, there's no rule that says this is the only forum you can ask your android question on.
What happened to the black clipping/crush thread with the poll? I was going to check it this morning for anything new and it's not popping up on any of the i717 forums. I found it on google forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559800 but it says invalid thread id? Are we being censored? ... this was a legitimate topic that I'm sure a lot of people were following.

There was some silly bickering going on, and the mods asked for it to stop. Guess it didn't. But I would have thought it would just be locked and not deleted. Unless the OP asked to have deleted. Too bad.

Why did the mods not just delete the posts or ban the users? There was a ton of valuable info in that thread.
I am wondering if the OP was banned or deleted his account. I don't see his posts anywhere. What was it, tenderchickn or something?
My guess is that once the user account is deleted, all threads go along with it.

I know right? He came in offering no help, insisting people are overreacting about the problem then cried wolf and asked for thread deletion when mods told him to stop baiting.
I literally read through the whole thread and even posted my hypothesis backed up with pictures. I guess it only takes one to ruin it for the others.
you can still see the google cache of the thread if you wanted anything specific from it. only the first page though

Same here...I didn't see what happened in the thread, but I guess I just don't understand why the WHOLE thread needed to be deleted instead of cleaned up or just locked?

Unfortunately the thread had over 35+ (from what I remember) pages of content, and most of the good stuff was buried in the middle
DAMNIT!
I was using that thread as a reference in an effort to get several of the major tech/Android blogs to post articles about the black clipping problem. I don't understand why the mods had to delete the entire thread when all they really needed to do was delete the last page or two of nonsense brought on by one troll.
I may try to start a new one if the mods don't/can't bring the thread back...
I think I'll try to get an admin at XDA from http://www.xda-developers.com/contact/ to look into this and possibly revive the thread. That's way too much collateral damage to control one user posting a couple stupid comments

We received a warning from oka1, but we didn't say anything off-topic following the warning.

Ahhh i vaguely remember he was the one that kept saying it was all a source problem. Oh well, ive contacted the xda admins so well see where it goes. Does anyone remember the mods name? Might be good to reach out to them also...

The mod who issued the warning was oka1, but I don't know if he is the one who deleted the thread.
I smell a conspiracy
I think Samsung wants all threads closed when talking about black crush/clipping on their displays perhaps they got to XDA? I read the thread since it started and found I have the clipping issue. I don't care to argue if the clipping issue exists I wish there was a dedicated thread to discuss solutions to this.
