Help Me Download Google API's Package - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to build an android app that reads and write a users google calendar. I'm trying to follow the google example at http://samples.google-api-java-client.googlecode.com/hg/calendar-android-sample/instructions.html?r=default but I'm stuck at the step trying to install Package "Google API's by Google Inc., Android API 8". When I go to the installed packages screen there is no package with that title. If I try to update I get the following message "Some packages were found but are not compatible with update." What do I need to do to get the package listed in the sample? Sorry for the newbie question but i just can't figure it out and I've googled for that package name and nothing relavent was returned.
Thanks

Integrating my apps with android os

Hi friends,
I have already posted this question in CHEF forum. Is it permited to ask the same here? I don't know. I want to solve this problem and I was trying to post this in "developper" forum but I don't have permission. So I am asking here. If its wrong then please excuse me.
As I have stuck up with some problem in " Integrating my application with Android source and compiling".
I hope you Guys can help me in this.
"I have developed one Launcher app and a Tuner App. Tuner App is developed in c++ and Launcher App in java. Now I want to make these two apps as part of the android source(I have downloaded 2.3.4 source) compilation. In other words, I will compile the downloaded android source and I will get the image from that. After installing I need my Launcher app to be displayed in home screen, and my tuner app should be available in "My Applications" menu.
I need help step by step in
1> how to integrate my apps with the android source.
2> how to compile the source after 1st step.
3> how to flash this image.
Awaiting your help.
regards
Rajendra

Need help compiling a project from github site

Firstly, I don't know if this is a right site/forum to ask this question but this seems to be most active android development forum when googling for 'android development forum' even though this site seems to be mosty about rooting and mods which is not what my question is about.
I'm trying to compile github.com/corbinlc/GNURootDebian from source and make it run on my android emulator. I get 'Configuration with name 'default' not found' in android studio 3.0 when just opening the project. Can anyone help me out tackle this error?
