Hi All,
I have a Galaxy SII, which I rooted and flashed with ICScrewD ♦♦♦♦Homemade Ice Cream
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375255
It worked fine for a couple of days, now all of a sudden I am not getting any signal on my phone, and instead of the signal bars I am getting the no network symbol. I tried different modems, different ROMs, doesn't seem to work. I even went back to the stock, but no luck.
When I went to the wifi & network settings and tried to click on the network settings it says "insert sim card" even though the sim is already in there. I tried my sim on a different phone, it works fine. So i am guessing its not At&t's fault.
Has anyone else had the same problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.
When you re-inserted your sim card back in your GS2, what happened? Is it an old sim and are the contacts worn and scratched?
The contacts are just fine. Even when i reinsert it nothing happens, I still get the no network symbol. It is basically behaving like no sim is inserted.
Well it sounds like a trip to an AT&T store might be in your future to test another SIM card. Hopefully that's all it is. Wifi radio works fine?
Try reflashing back to stock?
The wifi works just fine, and i tried flashing it back to stock, did a factory reset also, but nothing seems to work.
I have not dropped my phone even once, so that rules out the physical damage.
Well not sure this will help *fix* the issue, but might provide a bit more insight into what exactly the phone is and isn't seeing. If you download Elixir 2, linked below, and run a report and send it to yourself via email, look in the Telephony section of the report and see if the phone even sees the SIM card. Obviously it sounds like it doesn't, but if it gives you your SIM serial info in there, you might be able to rule out an issue with the actual card itself, etc.

Nope, it says sim state is unknown, I guess i will have to go to the At&t store then.
Thanks anyways.

Please help, have a horrible annoying problem…

Put my micro sim in my phone until my normal sim arrived, once I got my normal sim and activated it I found I could longer make calls or send txts. But I can browse the web, very strange.
Currently my signal bar has an exclamation mark next to it, I’ve tried an Orange and T-Mobile sim which work absolutely fine, I have tried other O2 sims but get the same problem.
I’ve also tried flashing using task29, have tried radio’s 2.07.50, 2.10.50 and 2.12.50 and various different roms
Thanks in advance
does the sim still works in the iphone? If not its a sim failure and you should get a new one from your provider
check the small print, your sim probably belongs to jobs corp now, and has deactivated itself and reported your treason directly to the implant in steves head when you took it out of the iphone
Lol going to have to sleep with one eye open...but to answer wilwilwel the micro sim no longer works and the sim im using at the moment works absolutely fine in any other phone
HELP!
I dont know how to get home with out my htc
My sim reader appears to be dead. The other day I go to use my phone and it says no signal, restart it and im good, browsing the web when all the sudden i get a message about no sim, insert sim and restart phone. So i restart and it was good for a couple days. Today my phone will not read a sim card. Tried my girlfriends captivate sim and no dice and my sim worked just fine in her phone. I odin back to stock to see if it would help but no dice. Seems like it must be hardware to me, has anybody had a similar problem.

Sounds like a bad solder joint or something hardware, unfortunately.
Hardware defects are covered by the warranty, should be able to get it replaced with relatively little hassle.... i say relatively, cause any time you're dealing with a warranty department There is inherently some hassle.
All of sudden, my phone does not detect the SIM card anymore. I inserted another good SIM card, and get the same error. I tried to press the SIM card to ensure good contact, but not working. No problem with other function. I inspected the SIM card slot and it appears perfect. The phone has never been dropped or having liquid damage.
I did the factory reset, but could not get rid of the error. Unfortunately I just travelled to oversea...
AT&T agreed to replace the phone, but I will not have any phone on the road.
I am willing to try anything. Does not seem to be software related, but...
Anyone know how to fix the problem?
Thanks.
Hey. There us a thread about this just search for it... don't think they found a solution
Did this happen while your sim was still in the phone or after a removal and replace?

My 1717D stpped working too when I installed T-Mobile radio
I bought 1717D with Android 4.o.4 on it , Kernel 3.0.8-perf-1717DTLLF4-CL793911 and tryed to install T-Mobile modem to work with Mobilicity.Ufter this update phone doesnt recognize my SIM card any more.I Tryed all 3 modems with the same results, even though I did changed modem on two previous 1717 phones before. They were with 3.3.5. I thing The problem is in Gingrbred rom this pfone has.Where can I get original Yelus factory Rom ?One more thing is strange: it doesn't show any IMEI ,Baseband shows Unknown.
The phone has ics 4.0.4. I inserted a foreign sim card while traveling abroad and found "no sim" error. Then i switched back to the att sim and found with the same error. I shall say i always use the foreign sim while oversea and never had problem with this phone before. And i always power down, remove battery and then replace sim card.
I reflashed the ics radio and still no good. I can see the imei number in setting. But the baseband is unknown. I read almost all related posts and could not find a software fix.

"No SIM" just happened to me. I recently updated to the official JB stock ROM & Note worked great for about ten days... then just quit and displayed the "No SIM" error message. I first tried just shutting down, removing & cleaning SIM, replacing & rebooting. Nada. Then tried different, fully charged battery. Still no go. Still at home tried a factory reset, removing SIM, clean, & reboot. Gave up and went to an AT&T kiosk. Rep set me up with a new SIM and I'm back in business for two days now. Rep was quite philosophical, "it happens sometime." Still don't know why.
[Q] "Can't connect right now. Try again later." or equivalent in stock, CM9 and CM10
Hi folks! Needing some help, please.
I've googled my problem a lot but couldn't find any working solution. Below is the detailed history.
I have recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300, cut my previous SIM, and used it for about four weeks with no problems. During this time, I rooted my phone, backed up the stock ROM, installed CM9 and afterwards CM10.
About a week ago, while using CM10, I switched off airplane mode after about nine hours and the signal power meter was empty. All the services related to my carrier (SMS, 3G, calls) were inoperative. I rebooted the phone, tried removing and reinserting the SIM, with no success.
I tried flashing the previous backups, also with no success, but noticed that while using the stock rom, the signal meter was full. This prompted me to access "Settings > Wireless (...) > More... > Mobile Networks > Network Operators", where to my surprise all the available carriers were listed. I did the same check in the rural area of my town, where I know my carrier does not work, and the cellphone correctly detected only the other three carriers.
These symptoms led me to believe that my cut sim could be the problem. I got a microsim from my carrier, but the problem persisted.
After this, I assumed the problem was software related, googled it and found some recommendations:
Complete wipe and backup restoration: this was not successful with stock, CM9 and CM10.
Complete wipe and stock ROM re-installation with Odin: also not successful.
Modem flashing with Odin: also not successful.
Firmware flashing with KIES: I put the cellphone in download mode and made the firmware recovery procedure from KIES. Also not successful.
Restoration of efs folder and IMEI related issues: I did not have backup of this folder, but the symptoms related to the problem in the posts I found always included the absence of IMEI. When I type *#06# in my phone, I can correctly see my IMEI, so I discarded this possibility. My carrier also informed me that my IMEI is not blacklisted.
I thought of getting a new microsim to rule out any SIM related issues, but still haven't done it.
Information regarding my phone:
Phone model: GT-i9300
Baseband version: I9300UBLG2
Firmware vesion when on stock (from KIES): PDA:LJ1 / PHONE:LI2 / CSC:LJ2 (ZTO)
Could someone please help me? I still have not tried the EFS folder troubleshooting, but the procedures I found were related to problems that did not show the same symptoms as mine. Do anyone have any suggestion? Please tell me if any more information is needed.
Thanks!
Why not just get a micro Sim to begin with....they don't cost anything and it saves a whole lot of hassle. My guess is the sim reader is damaged....IF and WHEN you decide to get a new micro sim, if it doesn't work then that could be the only cause and the service centre your only option. Seriously dude, next time to save yourself hassle....go an get a micro sim from your carrier, I wouldn't even think about hacking away at an old sim because I can't be bothered to walk to a Vodafone shop.

I have just come back from the carrier store, where I got a new SIM, and the issue persists. I also double-checked any IMEI blocking or problems with my services, and everything is ok.
Coincidentally, a Samsung consultant was around. He checked my phone and talked to Samsung tech support describing the issue.
They do not think it is related to the cutting of the SIM card for two reasons, the first being the ability to locate the carriers, the second being the fact that a visual inspection of the slot and the scratch marks on the SIM card do not indicate a broken or bent contact.
Obviously, he recommended that I send my phone to an authorized Samsung service center for maintenance.
I am still inclined to think it is a software related issue. I will, of course, send my phone to Samsung if it is case, but in the meantime I would like to try new procedures to bring back my phone's ability to connect to my carrier.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
An additional information:
I tried checking my sim through some apps, to confirm there is no damage in the contacts. GalaxSim Unlock is able to detect my sim and correctly show my phone status as unlocked.
Any suggestions on tests?

Hi!
I bought S939(not completely new), which from what I understand is not a device that's created for the European market. In order to make it function, I believe that the device was rooted\modified. Now, I can perfectly use it to go on the internet, make photos ecc, but when I put my SIM , I'm unable to "catch" the network of my provider. A message "Can't connect right now. Try again later." appears. I can save numbers on the SIM, for example, but unable to register on the network.
Also on the main screen, I can see writter "Invalid IMEI".
Thanks!
no backup imei ? try flash stock, should repare imei (i think) - but i have phone with mediatek and cant flash (get error)
Was the issue ever resolved, I'm having same problem with my i9300 on virgin mobile. My phone works fine on giffgaff.

Inactive sim?
Beamed in by telepathy.
Yesterday I noticed that I had an er081 (no wifi calling). I thought it was a wifi issue at first, but I tried calling and had no network connection. It shows bars, but will never register the sim on the network. I thought my sim might be bad, but I popped it into an old phone and it worked fine. I tried to reset network to defaults, checked APN (which was greyed out so I could not edit, but looked correct). Then I gave in and did a factory reset in twrp which is super annoying since my phone was working perfectly. None of these things helped.
Any suggestions? I was going to try and upgrade to a newer stock, but I was actually already on the newest stock rom anyway (from august).
Tried
*#*#4636#*#*
I have an IMEI etc...I would post pictures, but that seems sort of like a bad idea. It seems from googling that this is a problem that used to be more common, but suggestions do not seem to work. I don't see how this can happen when SIM works fine on another phone.
I have installed the sim on a nexus 5x and a 6p, both worked. That makes me think hardware error, unfortunately, but I honestly do not see how that can happen if I can see all the networks and their signal strength etc...
Weirdly enough I borrowed someone else's sim card and tried it. Upon boot it said they had a new voicemail which made me think it was connected, but when I tried to call it said emergency calls only. It was like it connected for a second then got kicked off the network.
Ok so I found out the cause and I am an idiot sort of. My phone was marked as stolen. I could not log in b/c I could not verify with my phone number previously so I gave up on it and forgot to recheck when I got an old phone. Still sort of perplexing as I have zero idea how this happened. Could it occur somehow in a pocket? It seems highly unlikely. Anyway I am happy to be done with this, but sad to reset everything back up. Bleh...
