Hi sorry if this is just a super n00b question that is easily solvable but struggling.
I have moved from a stock based ROM to CM7. I previously had all my Spotify data stored on my external SD card.
On moving to CM7 I titanium restored all my apps but for some reason Spotify did not remember the location of all my music and I was unable to get it to save music to the external SD card.
On looking at the card from inside file explorer the phone seems to think there is only 499mb of data stored on thr external card (when in fact there is over 10gb of music).
I restored a nandroid backup of stock ROM and all the locally synced music is back and the phone recognises the data on external SD card.
I am a bit flummoxed TBH, anyone know what I should do?
Thanks
Anyone got anything on this?

Hey Guys ..
I am playing around with my G-Tablet and for some reason I am unable to access and play/stream the music that I put on my External MicroSD card.
The only way I could listen to them is if I copy them to the folder called "sdcard/music".
I am currently running VEGAn-TAB ROM BETA 5.1. I tried the regular music program as well as Winamp .. and neither let me play the music straight off the micro sd card.
PLEASE HELP!
thank you in advance!
Strange, I have a similar problem in that music copied from a Flash drive to the sdcard/music folder will not be recognized by the Music App.
GL wit a solution
Make sure you do a reboot with Vegan-Tab after loading music. It won't show up otherwise. Also, if you added the .nomedia file to protect the data, it seems to prevent the tablet from scanning the SD Card.
Ok .. Im confused .. This is what I did ..
1) Copied my music to "SDCARD/MUSIC" folder .. unit had no problem playing the music.
2) After it was still on the external sd card under "SDCARD2/MUSIC" I removed the music that was copied from original internal memory (see #1) folder and then rebooted and music player or winamp would not read my music!
Ok - so basically my unit doesn't recognize the music from the external sd card! please help !!!
HMMMM .. wait .. I just rebooted again and for some reason its working now !! I think my G-Tablet is Possessed .. No matter, Im returning it to Woot anyway because I have a pixel out .. They are sending my new one Wednesday .. Hopefully I don't have this issue with the new one!
Thanks for the help!
I found that if you unmount the SD and then re-mount it the music won't show up until the tablet is rebooted and then it shows up again. I'm also useing Vegan 5.1.1 and that's what I've found. I also noticed that after mounting the SD card that the settings for performing this change to unmount in progress AFTER I have selected mount the sd, very odd
Hi Guys,
I recently picked up a new galaxy s2 and but of course rooted it and installed cyanogenmod 7.1
The one problem i ve been faced with in an other wise perfect set up has been to do with the SD card.
I didnt realise that the internal memory (16gb) is actually partitioned into a internal drive of around 1-2gb and an internal SD card of around 14gb
See i have an external 32gb card, but the problem faced is it seems i can only either use the 32gb or the 16gb internal, not both at the same time (it can see both but paths one or the other down a root of mnt/emmc which cant be accessed by most apps
Is there any way to use both? Ideally i wanted my apps to be mounted on the 16gb and google music with its offline music to be mounted on the 32gb sd card?
Is there any way to achieve this?
No?

Say wha?
The internal (14 gb partition of the included 16gb) is /mnt/sdcard.
If you have an external SD card mounted, it will be /mnt/sdcard/external_sd.
Apps using Gingerbread's native apps to sd will always be on the internal sd card, as far as I know.
I can access both internal sd and external sd whenever I want.
I have mp3s stored on external sd, pictures from the camera saving to internal sd.
At least, this is how it is on MY phone.
Hi mate,
cyangenmod let's you play swaps with what one is mounted as sdcard and emmc
None of my apps though can see the other card, except for esfile manager and titanium backup
ideally also for what I want, I need to move apps over to both since I want to dedicated the 32gb card to google music and offline music storage
Your question is what happens already? All apps are automatically installed on your Internal SD and then you put the music manually on your external SD. Not sure if troll or...
I'm honestly not trolling but maybe I'm missing a trick as google music won't see that card?
Also I was hoping to use the offline function built into google music to download the songs to that card so I can pick and chose albums on the fly
Ah, I missed the part where this is a CyanogenMod feature. I don't use CyanogenMod right now, so I'm not familiar with this feature. Can't help you, sorry.
You might want to post to the CyanogenMod forum since this is a feature specific to that ROM. (both the thread here on XDA and on the CM forums)
Hi guys!
I have a bit of a problem with my S2 storage. I'm running cyanogenmod. So I wanted to ask you guys how could I best manage all my apps/pics/videos/backups etc.
My current status:
System ROM 528MB, 149MB free
Internal 2.11GB, 637MB free
SD Card 12.3GB, 1.35GB free
Ext. SD Card: 31.9GB, 29.1GB free.
So you see here my problem...I have this huge 32GB SD card that is mostly empty, while all my installed apps go either to the 600MB of internal data partition or to the internal memory. Either way, I barely have 2GB available for data, and a huge partition that now I can't even take for the camera (CM will only save to internal DCIM folder).
Titanium Backup allows to move the data folder anywhere, so it's into the big SD card.
ScummVM allows to save the ROMs anywhere, so also these ones are in the SD card.
Movies/Videos I download are in the SD card.
...And that's it. Whenever I take pictures, I need to remember to move the files manually to the external SD, because the camera app will only save them in the internal memory. What can I do? How can I improve this?
THanks a lot!
Up!
A camera app such as Camera Zoom Fx available on play, will allow you to specify where your pictures are saved.
Also, I am running the latest NEATROM lite based on the JB leak and the stock camera allows you to choose between internal and sd card as storage. This may not be the case on older versions of the stock camera.
Hope this helps with the picture issue at least!

Yeah, thanks. All the Samsung stock cameras allow saving into the SD card. The AOSP one, however, doesn't. Still don't quite understand it.
Anyway, besides the camera, would there be a way to move installed apps (or its data) to the SD card?

I have never done this with GS2 but on HD2 we could create a sdext partition on external sd. This partition would then be used by system to extend internal storage. I think this can be done on GS2 via cwm by partitioning sdcard. You would need to backup your data from external card first though before partitioning.
There is also Apps2SD on google play which will move installed apps to ext card.
Yeah, that's it! I did something like this on my Nexus One on its day. It wasn't perfect but it was good. I'll look into this. Thanks!
I'm rooted and not running the latest VZW update, but I've finally come the the point where I've run out of internal storage and want to move some apps with heavy data like games to my SD. So far I've only found FolderMount as an option and I've watched videos on how to use it but the storage/emulated/0/Android/obb folder is empty and if I go up to Android/data/ there's only a few of my apps in there. Where else can my apps be located?
Thanks in advance.
The data is moved to the external sd card by default. It should be the same path just under the extsdcard

Hi,
I've installed cm11 m10 on my Galaxy S2 i9100, with following instructions:
wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9100 (newbie, not allowed to create a correct link.
Everything works fine except for playing Music (mp3).
I have an external 64 GB SD Card initially formatted with fat32. I've uploaded mp3s there. I tried several players (Appollo, MixZing, Google Play Music) but none of them found music. On MixZing I was able to navigate to the files but when click on an mp3 file, only the spinning circle is showing but playing didn't start.
I googled and found advices that it may be related to the sd card being formatted fat32. So I tried two things. I formatted the SD Card with exfat and second I copied the mp3 files to the internal storage. That didn't change anything. Music files are shown in file manager but they do not play.
I also observe that on Setting/Storage the external SD Card is shown ut only shows the total amount of space used, no disitinction on e.g. media files, like in the internal storage
Is that a known problem or is that special to my setup ?
It's the first time I use cyanogenmod so I may also do newbie errors
Hi Stefan,
Or the music files are corrupt, probably wouldn't be it.
Or its a bug. I suggest to you to also have a look in the android development forum for other custom roms.
Also does audio works on cyanogenmod m10? So notifications sound etc?
First of all thanks for the quick reply.
It's always like that I searched the whole evening for a solution, almost immediately after posting this question. Things started working. The bad thing is I do not why it suddenly works
My setup is now:
Music is on externald SD Card formatted with exfat.
No Music on internal storage.
I triggered a rescan of the sd card using Rescan SD app.
Under Settings/Storage the sd card still only showing the overall usage.
But since Music and jpegs are working I'm ok with that.
Ahh okay, good that it's now working properly, else you could always find another custom rom in the android development forum that is more optimized and better for your phone.
Have fun :good:
