I wanted to make an odin flashable tar of the stock param.lfs posted in Entropy's Return/Unbrick to stock thread. I made the tar file using terminal on my phone, as I have done in the past, but I did it wrong, and when I tested it, the flash failed and now my phone boots to the phone-!-pc screen.
I looked in the tar, and I had built it with the param.lfs in a directory named sdcard. Doh. So I tried to create the tar using 7zip on my Windows pc, and the resulting file is built correctly, but when I tried to flash it, the flash froze on param.lfs. So I don't know if the tar I made with 7zip is bad, or what.
Shouldn't it be possible to just tar the param.lfs file and then flash it in the PDA slot? I should be able to get the phone back by flashing just the param.lfs, shouldn't I? But now I don't know if I can make a working Odin flashable tar on Windows.
So if someone can post an odin flashable tar of Entropy's stock param.lfs, that would be helpful. Thanks.

I believe 7zip creates bogus tars in Windows.
Try cygwin - or use Heimdall to flash
I was pretty sure that 7zip made bad tar files. I also downloaded peazip, and found that it also makes bad tar files.
I found a good flashable I777 stock param.lfs in Connexion2005's Custom Boot Screen thread. I had never looked inside his attachment and had assumed it was a modified param.lfs. I used it to flash my phone back successfully.

Hi all. In an effort to search for the original SGH-T959 bootloaders that one can flash after flashing any of lidroid's ROMs, I came across the bootloaders. One problem, however. They came in a .RAR file. It contained 2 files: boot.bin and sbl.bin. I trust that they are correct and flashable. However, I need to flash it via ODIN. Therefore I un-RARed the file and then re-compressed it, but as a .TAR file this time around.
The .TAR file I created contains ONLY 2 files.
boot.bin
sbl.bin
My question is: am I missing anything in the .TAR or can I just go ahead and flash the .TAR to my Vibrant via ODIN?
EDIT: Also, I flash this in the BOOTLOADER section of ODIN, right? I know it sounds stupid, but I've heard of bootloaders being flashed in the PDA section of ODIN.
Hey guys so I am interested in flashing the simply honey revolution ROM on my samsung vibrant. But I am stuck. The instructions call for you to flash via Odin with the 512 PIT file. But when I download the light version for first flash in the instructions I find a .tar file. How do I flash this rom? Thanks for your help!
I have the same question, since I am used to work on the EVO 4G but not this phone. Any help will be appreciated. I already flashed a gingerbread bootloader, but I still need to flash this ROM.
Put the tar file in the pda and pit in the pit section.
just use that file but open PDA selection. it will flash it. also make sure you odin a gingerbread boot loader first.
Ok, understanding a little bit more. Right know I have the zip and the tar file inside that one. I don't have any Pit file mentioned. Also in the instrutions doesn't say if the phone needs to be in download mode or whatever mode. Thanks for any other info.
It should be in download mode to use ODIN.
Okay let me see if I have this process correct. From the page I download this http://www.multiupload.com/KP8HBPR20Z from under the instructions coming from eclair/froyo. Inside I see the .tar file. (not a .pit file). In ODIN i put the .tar file under PDA and click start. Once that is done I can download the bootloader and flash that via ODIN. Is this correct?
yeh
or you could use rom manager to flash whichever package you want after odining the light version instead of flashing the bootloaders
dont do it
I just went through hell flashing that rom and even BRICKED my phone. (well semi-brick, none of the buttons worked) I made the same mistake as you. Dont use the Simply_Honey_3.8_LightOdin file, use the one that is named simply_ODIN_HEIM . The light odin is bull****. Didnt work for me. I dont even want to guess why...
Good Luck!
Remember to open the .zip and extract the .tar, zip's cant be flashed in odin
Am hoping someone can help.
I've updated my Galaxy S II to ICS via Odin but wanted to erase my flash history so flashed an old bootloader .tar file, erased the flash history but now want to flash the ICS bootloader back.
I've extracted the sbl.bin file but cannot create a tar file that Odin recognises. Have tried using 7zip but Odin locks up when I try and flash it.
Any helping or guidence on how to create a flashable .tar file is appreciated.
are you on windows or Linux?
Hi, I have a question about the files being used to flash my Samsung Galaxy S2 via Odin.
I have already seen this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278&highlight=firmware
I am trying to flash the PDA, Phone and CSC back all to normal stock. I have downloaded a firmware and I only have one file with a .dll file. The one file I have is named "I9100BOKK1_I9100TMUKK1_I9100BOKJ1_HOME.tar.md5" I have extracted the files from here also and it contains boot.bin, cache.img, factoryfs.img, hidden.img, modem.bin, param.lfs, Sbl.bin and zImage.
How with these files and Odin do I flash all three parts. I can't see how to use these files on the above link with instructions for flashing and rooting.
Thank You

Ok ignore post that I just put it in the PDA section and it does the CSC and Phone for you.
Credit goes to surge1223 for this resource as I did not create this file that was made.
This resource allows you to emergency-full wipe your Android system in case you are in a boot loop or stuck.
Download 5.0.1 Full-Wipe
Get Odin 3.0.9 here
Full Wipe ( AKA Emeregency Repair)
1. Unzip the file and you should have a ALL_VZW_I545VRUGOC1_I545VZWGOC1_CL4584173_QB4517016_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
2. Select the tar.md5 in Odin under PDA (or AP if using Odin 3.09) and keep Odin's default settings
3. Extract the PIT file from your phone or Odin tar if you need to.
4. Put the PIT file in PIT and load the the Odin tar.md5 in PDA (or AP if using Odin 3.09) then click start.

There's no custom recovery options if you're on OC1 bootloader, but you do have options for root/flashing. OC1 is rootable with KingRoot on the desktop. If you want to flash roms from there (or xposed), you need to use FlashFire.
Thanks for providing this. I was rooted but I wanted to flash the latest stock firmware that would allow me to root again if I change my mind. I attempted to download OC1 from Sammobile but it was taking way too long. In the meantime while waiting for the download I found this post. I downloaded it here, flashed it and went through the initial setup of my phone. At this time the file is still downloading from Sammobile. I'm letting it to continue just to see how long it takes.
Can you post the pit file?
This is what it should look like: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319199111 You should be able to take the .tar.md5 file and unzip it using 7-zip and pull out the .pit file. You'll need to unzip the tar.md5 anyway so you can get to the PDA(or AP) file.
