[MOD] Sony Bravia Engine - Updated - Motorola Photon 4G

Dear All,
I was just browsing the xda site and found a port of Sony bravia engine to other devices, so I made a flashable zip to our Photon. Original thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352859
Do post your results, if you feel any difference.
**** P.S. I have just made a flashable zip, all credit goes to XxXPachaXxX

Ya I'm on CM7 and this happened to me spontaneously last week and I had to resort flashing the sbf to fix it. So it's possible that the bravia zip isn't the real culprit. I've rebooted it several times now and sometimes it starts in airplane mode and it won't get out. The other times, it acts like it completely forgets that it's a phone and has radios to turn on. All I get is a blank signal bar with an X near it; it doesn't even try to contact the network or anything. Except this time, wifi is borked too. It still worked last time this happened. I guess its time to flash the sbf again. Not the quickest process in the world.
EDIT: on the other hand, my pictures do look a bit better now....

I have airplane mode issue now too - it happened first boot after flashing the engine.
Was re-flashing the sbf the only solution you have found so far?
I haven't been able to notice any differences. It would be nice to get two photons next to eachother one with engine and one without and compare. I'll have to hit up BB and take some pictures if I can.

My Phone Works perfectly - Bootstrap
I duplicated the flaw with CM7

I tried everything but a nandroid backup. That's cuz I'm dumb and never bothered to make a backup.

This seems really cool, so it only works with a stock-based rom?
Would be awesome to get this working on CM7.

Okay you should have mentioned this changes the build.prop to people, that is where all the issues are coming from.
Unzip and remove the build.prop then pull your build.prop
Add this to your own build.prop
#Bravia Engine Service
ro.service.swiqi.supported=true
persist.service.swiqi.enable=1
add and rezip
Issues gone

Ok Update
The Flash will Lock your Cache - So here what i had to do
1) Go to bootstrap and
2) load the file
3) Clear Cache.
otherwise it will lock any app install

It seems to work now.

So do I changes the build.prop reboot then flash the Zip ????
Will this inter fear with the webtop/lapdock ?

I changed build.prop right before I flashed and it seems fine. I doubt it will do anything to webtop.

can this be done via root explorer...

i've done this mod that exact same way on my aria with 4 different roms with no issues at all every time.
you really just need to save the qwerty.kl file and push it to the phone. reboot into recovery, go to the partitions menu, mount the system partition, push the file via adb, reboot your phone and voila.

I've done that. The qwerty.kl method just simply isn't working for some people.
This worked for me
Couldn't figure out how to add attachments to this post, and it won't let me add an external link since it's a new forum account. google ojwake-signed.zip or something.
Steps: Load file to SD card, boot in to recovery mode, install zip, locate this zip on flash card, reboot.
(ojwake-signed.zip)
Don't remember where i got this, but kudos to that guy!

Just to make it even easier on you
EDIT-Short Version...Download file from link above
-:Have Clockwork Recovery Installed and know how to use ADB:-
-DOWNLOAD ATTACHED to linked post qwerty.kl (may need 7zip to extract file from archive...)
-BOOT into CLOCKWORK recovery with NO USB PLUGGED INto phone!!!
-PARTITIONS>MOUNT /SYSTEM
-adb push qwerty.kl /system/usr/keylayout|adb reboot
As far as I know, this ridiculously simply method of pushing qwerty.kl has worked for everyone except the few that didn't boot into clockwork correctly, once they booted into clockwork correctly it then worked for them.
I updated the instructions to be crystal clear for all you noobs. If pushing a file to your android device is too painfully complicated for you, I suggest you read/search more and figure out what you are actually doing.
Neverwhere10's steps are just as painfully complicated, but at least he is providing some constructive input.
Thanks!
Worthless thread is worthless.

There is also a setting in one of the menus if you are using any of attn1's cm roms for this same thing. I currently have my aria set this way and I am using cm008 as of right now.

lmao, that's great advice, take it.
I've got your answer.
Download 2.1 Leak v3
Rename it to something you'll remember.
Copy to root of sdcard.
Boot into recovery
When your done with that,
In ADB run this command.
Code:
/sbin/recovery --wipe_data
Wait about 2 minutes. CRTL+C (Win) CTRL+Z (Mac).
Then,
Code:
/sbin/recovery --update_package=SDCARD:[I]romname[/I].zip
Wait about 4-5 minutes.
After about 5-6 minutes, pull the battery.
Turn it on
You're back on 2.1 Stock (w/o root)!

The leak series of HTC PB00IMG.zip files (Leak-V3, Leak-V2, Root-ROM, etc) are not signed the way that Amon_RA (e.g. SignApk or jarsigner) expects them, so the instructions you provide above clearly will not work. You can not flash PB00IMG.zip - style files using Amon_RA - they will fail signature verification, and moreover have no META-INF/com/google/android/update-script to provide updating instructions to /sbin/recovery.
You can use the above method with other "dev" ROMs, including the "FlashBack21" ROM, but doing the "battery pull" as you described is not desirable if you use the FlashBack21 ROM that flashes the radio. (It is possible that the trackball "click"/"press" still works - the OP did not say - and since Amon_RA starts on the "reboot" menu, a battery pull may not be necessary).
It would be better to reference the original instructions, which provide more detailed instructions & cautions than you provided above - and also give attribution to the person that disclosed it in the first place, rather than "I've got your answer".

I'm not trying to jump on you just to be mean-spirited - if you want to suggest something to someone, by all means go ahead and do so; but if you have not personally tried the method yourself and verified that it works you should probably add that as a disclaimer.
You did offer to try and lend a hand, and that is better than what I did (initially).

I had this, it was related to an init.d mod I flashed Best bet, in all honesty, to keep things simple? Flash KDZ :/ It fixes it. Just make a folder on your phone or a text file in Memo or something to write down what you need to reapply after the flash. It'll work, I promise. Happened to me like twice. Also, your Bluetooth is screwy, I believe GPS has become a tad less pin-pointed, and your Camera might not work. At least that was what happened with mine. Oh, and you randomly lose connection for a few seconds every few minutes. Again, only if you had it the way I did.
Best of luck, Kudos, and God bless!

yes it will get rid of your root, but the lgpwn method works on 20d, 20f, and 20h, so you're good.
Lgpwn does work with 20h. But it doesn't work for me if I leave Lookout running.

All you have to do is add net.tethering.noprovisioning=true to your build.prop file and then you can remove or freeze the entitlement check app if you want to. Sprint model requires ro.mot.tether_dun_required to change from 1 to 0.
For people who don't want to mess with modifying their build.prop file or use xposed. I made an app which requires Root, that will run a setprop command to bypass the check until you reboot. If you want it to last after a reboot you can select apply of boot to run the command after every reboot. This was tested and confirmed by cvhovey thanks to him for testing it for me, since I have free tethering. This is my first app so I hope you Enjoy it! I want to say thanks to jcase's slapmymoto and the developer of adaway, I used their github sources as references when I couldn't get something working. Also androidicons for the icon template, and Poliva for setpropex, and jduck for getting setpropex working on KitKat.

FINALLY! The second rom for the Sprint variant :').... I Love you! haha.
Hey guys, I just wanted to update and say it won't boot on the Verizon dev edition like the T-mobile rom will. It freezes for me on the Moto Earth boot animation. Noo! Well darn, I was wanting to try the sprint rom to see if I could get google wallet tap to pay working on my vzw dev phone since no one has figured out how to make tap to pay work on the non-sprint variants.
I booted the deodex version just fine on my vzw Dev edition. I wiped my data and wiped cached before flashing. I didn't try g wallet

YES!!!! It worked!!! LOL. Anyway, have you/anyone noticed anything when trying to alter the stock boot.img? Seems like anything I tried (not a whole bunch really) with the kernel/boot.img made it non-bootable? Pretty much if it hits the bootloader unlocked screen and doesn't vibrate.....its a no go? Wondering if theres some type of checksum for the boot.img? Not too sure about wallet ATM. Don't really use it, and this is based off the OTA so....I'd assume it should be fine? I remember some stuff way back on this, may have to step back and see if there's something to utilize. This isn't my first rodeo.....but it's the first one I've entered.

I downloaded the odex and not deodex but I don't see it being the difference between booting and freezing. Hmm. I'm back on the T-Mobile rom now. I'll have to try again with the deodex tomorrow

what command are you using to pack the boot.img?

Was just using the kitchen tool. Anytime I touched the boot.img it wouldn't boot up..... Or it would not vibrate at the splash screen, boot up, but not "see" user touches on the screen. Acted like the digitizer was totally off. Something I noticed is if it vibrates at the splash, it was good. No vibrate, definitely something would be wrong. Going to take my time with it next week.

I recommend wiping system and data too and trying. Just make a backup first. And/or try using your normal boot.img instead of the one in the zip.

i take it then you arent packing the Device tree file to the boot.img.
http://pastebin.com/tSGxTmYq save this script, run it against stock boot.img. youll get a DTB.img, extract your boot.img, edit what you want in ramdisk or swap zimages. then use a modified mkbootimg to include the dtb file as part of it all

I got the sprint deodex rom booting on my vzw dev edition doing like you said. But sadly I found google wallet would not work. It just sat saying "finishing up a few things." So I guess unfortunately there is a hardware issue preventing wallet from working on the non-sprint variants. That sucks!!!
I don't understand why but I noticed between the t-mobile, verizon, and sprint roms that the signal bars are slightly different on every one. Sprint's seems to be stretched out a little more and have an extra bar or two. I hate all of them though because the grey has some funky white lines through it where the separations are instead of being solid grey. I don't know what was wrong with the stock android signal bars that none of the carriers wanted them
I have a question regarding safestrap, can I use it to unlock my bootloader and just flash this to my nand? I dont want to waste my space on rom slots :\

Honestly have no clue about SS. I would have to say no. No sure what needs to be done for it to be SS flashable.
Added 4.4 links. Thank abiezer for letting me link to his deodex 4.4 build HERE!
I plan on adding the SPRINT specific firmwares, and more in due time.

[MOD] [Sprint N915PVPU2BOC8_N915PSPT2BOC8] [Hotspot/USB-Tether Mod] [4/27/2015]

This belongs in the Sprint Note Edge N915P device specific forums, which there is none, so I'm putting it here so not to entice other device users to flash this file. If you don't have this specific device, DO NOT FLASH!!!
This mod is ONLY for the Lollipop builds as stated in the title. Do NOT flash if you are on a KitKat rom.
I don't own the Sprint Galaxy Note Edge, I own the regular Sprint Galaxy Note 4. I figured you all might want to have this option for your rare phones with little development. This is a permanent solution for unlocking the native hotspot as well as USB tether feature. it will not be overwritten by prl or profile updates wether pushed automatically by Sprint or done by the user.
Instructions: You MUST have root. No Exceptions.
[for deodexed Lollipop 5.01 N915PVPU2BOC8 / N915PSPT2BOC8 roms ONLY]
Flash the zip from the link below in recovery and reboot system. No need to wipe anything. When the phone reboots it may take up to 15 minutes for the phone to optimize the system again. In this case just let the phone sit and once it finishes the screen will go off. You will now have working hotspot as well as usb tether feature.
[for factory stock rooted odexed roms, VERY IMPORTANT]
Download the hotspot mod zip file and put it on your internal or external storage.
BEFORE flashing the hotspot mod you MUST first use a root file explorer to delete "services.odex" file located in system/framework/arm folder. (The system will likely freeze or auto reboot... in this case, pull the battery and reinsert it). Then IMMEDIATELY power off your phone. Next reboot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvic-cache. Last, flash the hotspot mod zip file and reboot system. Reboot will take several minute while the system optimizes (apx. 15 mins) so don't panic. When the screen finally turns off the optimization is finished.
Done!
If you find this mod useful, please press that THANKS button!!! Enjoy!!!

Much appreciated. I've been waiting for this! Now hopefully someone will leak a lollipop rom for us. Samsung keeps delaying the OTA.
,......
Yeah thanks mucho
I flashed in recovery and it immediately flashed said it was done. I rebooted no hotspot. Any other ideas what I may have done wrong? To the OP,I bit the bullet and bought the Edge. I was worried Samsung would eliminate the sd card in the Note 5
Thanks for any help

Anyone having success with the Hotspot mod? When I turned on the Hotspot button it said I didn't have that service activated on my phone abd then it have me an option to call Sprint Customer Care. It then proceeded to shut the Hotspot off.
Bueller, Bueller, anyone, anyone...

Thanks again
Charles
Thanks for the Mod but it sent my phone into bootloop.. lol.
I'll stick to the SQLite edit for now.
I'm running a Deodexed stock Rom w/ Stock kernel and hella mods. :highfive:

Picky enough it initially didn't do anything that I could see to mine. Then yesterday I performed the fix for odexed Roms abd it locked mine too.
But a Huge thank you for this. Just wish we had more development for our phones. I restored a backup I must have dejected the original download. All is well but I may give it another shot when I get home.
Thank you everyone for all I'd the help.

I tried the SQLite editor mod and that worked. I'm guessing there is no way to make that mod permanent? I only use hotspot when I'm on vacation on the drive up and down.
Thank you again for your help.

If the OP needs a tester I'm a willing guinea pig [emoji4].

Instructions:
[for deodexed roms]
Flash the zip from the link below in recovery and reboot system. No need to wipe anything. When the phone reboots go take a nap, drink a beer or eat six tacos because it "might" take up to 15 minutes for the phone to optimize the system again. In this case just let the phone sit and once it finishes the screen will go off. You will now have working hotspot as well as usb tether feature.
[for odexed roms, VERY IMPORTANT]
After flashing this mod and once the phone boots, you must immediately remove the "services.odex" file located in system/framework/arm. Use Root Explorer (my personal favorite) or similar root file browser and delete services.odex and reboot.

This sent me into a battery-pulling bootloop as well. I flashed SprNoteEdgeDeodexedStockNoKnoxNK1.zip as noted in the other thread. I'd give you a link to find it, except, well, given the massive flow of ROMs, tweaks, mods, themes, kernels, et cetera, for this phone, I think you'll do just fine on your own...
However, once I did, all was back to normal, except, there is no "services.odex" file located in system/framework/arm. There isn't even a /arm folder.
And the hotspot works just fine.
If one of you could zip up a stock services.jar and it's odex file i will redo the mod. I need the files from the very latest build. PM me the link whomever uploads it. Thanks in advance.

Another member has already uploaded the files. I'll get it done and uploaded today. Look for an updated link in the OP later today.
Edit: The OP has been updated with a new build of the hotspot mod. So download it again and give the new version a try. The instructions will be exactly the same. This mod is deodexed. Stock odexed rom users MUST manually delete the services.odex file located in system/framework/art folder immediately after flashing this mod!!! You can add the hotspot toggle using SQLite editor or by flashing a rom which the dev included the extra toggles. Google or search here on XDA for those instructions.

Make sure you wait at least 15 minutes and the phone may sit at tghe yellow sprint spark screen while the system re-optimizes. If it doesn't finish booting after waiting 15 minutes then pull battery and reboot into recovery and wipe cache & dalvic cache and reboot system again. Wait another 15 minutes and see if it will boot.

it should if you follow my instructions. I don't own this device so I can't test it. Nobody has posted to confirm they got it working. But I can say that if you follow the instructions in the Op you should have no problems. I've done this mod many times on different devices including the regular Note 4. Post your results so others can know.

Going to flash. I made a back up. I'm on the new stock lollipop that I rooted. Is stock odexed or deodexed? I want to make sure I follow your instructions to the letter.
Thank you VERY MUCH for helping us lonely edge users.
