Theme manager would be hard to do, requires edited framework iirc. Still, I can try.

Would love to, but getting it working properly would take months by myself.
Of course what I would do, is use CM9 source for the zeus, but there is no source yet (FXP are not working on CM9 for the play as I type, or at least if they are, it isn't in their repo's), and don't bargain on sony releasing their source (most manufacturers don't release android platform source code, at least sony releases the kernel source code **cough cough** unlike HTC who "miss" out bits of their code).
Anyway, if I did it from ICS, touchpads wouldn't work.
Doing a /system dump as we speek:
Command is:
adb reboot recovery
adb shell
**mount /system in CWM**
adb pull system ~/system/
After that, I will work on vanilla porting xD

Dude, you hero! I've been wanting to do this myself for a while now for the same reasons you have stated. I was using Zero's ROM for a while, but I was having WiFi issues (from the stock, not his fault). I have tried FXP a few times, but the touchpads rarely work (which kinda defeats the point in having a PLAY).
The stock look would be awesome, as well as removing as much of the SE stuff as poss. I would prefer to keep the game launcher (that launches when you open the slider) as it's great for showing off
You may run in to some troubles trying to merge AOSP & the SE stuff (ie the dialer, game launcher, etc). I've read somewhere about this before and may be related to the PSX emulator (bandicoot, etc) too. Not that I know a fix, just sayin'.
And if you manage to get in the power controls in the status bar (like FXP) then you get a cookie (or make sure you've got a donate button anyway).
Willing & waiting to test..

Have decided to change the plan due to heavy theming work, it takes ages to make a theme and so I am going to add an existing one into this ROM.

My eyes are on CM9, GoUI and this, pretty cool, Can't wait until its released.

@death1246 what changes are you making to the kernel that you are working on?
Death, there are a lot of mugs on here, just ignore them....
Your doing a grand job, and the more custom roms the better
I used to own a desire before a nexus, and i found the desire forum on xda to be brilliant and helpful, since comming to the nexus forums i have seen just how many top class idiots there are that own nexus's.
If we was selling these customised roms i could understand it, but we are doing stuff that is just for the community and there free...
Im amazed that there are any devs here at all because of the way they are treated, Mods need to be more efficient in kicking plebs out
JD
Thank you for sharing your Rom. Its good to see different Roms. Gives everyone a selection.
Keep up the good work!
Here is what I am doing..
I am building a rom the way I want it to be, look, feel, and be as fast as possible with the best useful apps that dont flood an OS.
I'm using modocos standard rom and customizing it for myself and to share it. Im photoshopping and making it look as good as possible before continuing to build a kernel.. Right now I have 30% knowledge on android so bare with me im a fast learner..
I will keep making this rom the way I want and when I start coding it will be better.
Thanks for the good support and enjoy to those that like my customized version of modocos rom
well.... didnt think I would start world war 3 lol anyways
Update uploaded and posting now
fixes a few icons adds some of my customizations to highlights and adb icon changed aswell...
also updated to the latest fancy widget...

Yeah that would be great.
I'm jealous, I want to learn how to make a ROM I'm still looking for the black matte theme updated to work with latest froyo.
@ death1246,
Your rom includes a few apps that cannot be included in roms, namely
*SetCPU
*FancyWidget
The dev of SetCPU has specifically stated that his app should not be cooked into roms. And FancyWidget is a paid app...
Please removed them from your rom.

Super-lightweight stock ROM with minimal tweaks.
Also, it's fast. Did I mention it's fast? Maybe not in benchmarks but it's very snappy and smooth in actual usage. You won't believe it unless you try it. In fact, this is the ROM that I've been using since I made it 2 months ago.
Q: "Is it just a stripped ROM?"
A: Yes, it is, but have you seen other ROMs like this? Almost every stock-based ROM out there are heavily modded, that's why I made this.
Q: "When did this ROM start?"
A: It started for the Wildfire and then X10 based on stock Eclair (released on MoDaCo only).

Updated 16 November. Fixed problems with missing xRecovery and not booting. It was an error on my side, sorry guys!
update-Leaf-GB-r3.zip (81.4 MB / xRecovery)
Package doesn't wipe data. You can flash this over any ROM that is based on stock (ThGo2, Wolfs TW, X10x EWJet, T.E.A.M, Ultima, Blue Sparks etc.) and retain data.
Installation
1. Copy zip package to SD card
2. Boot into xRecovery
3. (OPTIONAL) For a clean install, do a full wipe
4. Flash zip package
5. Reboot

Bye X10, I'm gonna miss ya
I will give it a go... lol.. I have tried so many ROM in the last few days.....
As a request, can you add the following tools...
1. Link2SD
2. AdFree
BTW: Does anyone ever use the Email program that it comes with? I was hoping to remove it
I will let you know in a couple of days.
I'll try including Link2SD and ad-block is already included.

Thanks, I also change the default launcher to Nemus launcher (marketplace).
At the moment I am sitting on 180mb RAM free.. which is unusually high, but that is also very nice if it is true.
I am going to install some of my apps to see how I go.
Great Job, I am going to stick to your ROM for the next few days.
Looks like some more sterling work there my friend!
What's the audio recording with the video camera like in this ROM? Is is still quiet?

sterling?
Audio is the same with stock SE camera.
Sterling work = good/respectable work
May have to try this ROM as it's my wife's X10, not mine, and the only issue we've found on all custom 2.3 ROMs is really quiet audio recording when using the videocamera.
Having said that, I flashed your Gingervillain port yesterday and although it has the quiet audio recording thing, the ROM is running really really well, so I may leave that on for a while yet......
Suggestions
Would it be possible to add restart, xrecovery to the power prompt menu as well as a modified battery icon and maybe if possible in any way to position the status bar on the bottom of the screen.
The reason for asking you to do the mods and not doing them myself is coz you are the dev and you may be implementing something similar already.
Thanks
I just installed it! I´ll try it and report thank you!

Since its stock, does it have the following (i'm not asking for these to be included, i'm just asking if they are):
xLoud
Bravia Engine
FPS uncap
i understand i'll have to run the zdzihu mod for the audio skip.
This is just a stock rom with removed apps. Right?
Do not get me wrong, thanks for keeping our x10 alive.
Why the SoundRecorder.apk appears on the Titanium Backup list, but don't appear among the apps on the app drawer (so i can't even open it to use it)?

[ROM][CDMA/GSM TEST]Codename Android [4.0.4]

FIRST OFF: THIS IS FOR UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS. IF YOU TRY TO INSTALL THIS WITH A LOCKED BOOTLOADER, YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE.
What it is:
(From the Galaxy Nexus Android Development CNA Thread)
Codename Android is a fully open source rom that focuses on speed, usability, and getting every feature that we can get CRAMMED in there :_con: .
Our mission is to spread the Open Source Android love to as many people as possible, and get as many people involved as possible. Along with the rom there will be tutorials to get more people involved and learning how to build android step by step.
Click to collapse
What it is not:
I do not claim any thing special about the code other than some simple changes to make it work on the R800x. Either FXP built it (if it's a port) or it's code from CNA/Koush/freexperia or anybody else who has contributed to the CM9/Android repos.
I have made a few changes to the CNA vendor tree to add in a the ability to build zeus, changes to device/semc/msm-7x30-common to allow the semc_ota_from_target_files to work, I changed the libs in (my own) vendor/semc/zeus to be R800x libs and I removed the storefront from the proprietary files list in device/semc/zeus
KeiranFTW's CM9 kernel is recommended, it's included in all the zip files (source)
Now, onto the good stuff.
What Works:
Data
Calls
Wifi
GPS
SMS
Accelerometer
MMS (thanks chrono!)
What Doesn't Work:
ALS (Disabled by Keiran in kernel)
Bluetooth Media Audio (Thanks chrono!)
Video Recording (Thanks Neoandgeo for pointing that one out)
Facebook account syncing (Thanks DoubleByte) -- Note facebook account syncing looks like it's a problem within 4.0.4 framework...
Looks like there's an issue with navigation buttons the the R800x, looking into it.
What Kernel to use:
Use DFK-CM9 kernel (it's included in each zip) so far that seems to have the best balance of battery life & speed.
Anything else that doesn't work, lemme know, I'll add it to the list.
Link to CM9/CNA Files
What's in it:
1) 05/06 "lite" build (what you'd get from building it from scratch)
2) 05/05 "Full" build (added in some necessary apps, like messanger, music from cm9, etc.)
MAKE SURE TO INSTALL OVER A CM9 BUILD, OR HARDWARE KEYS HAVE ISSUES (DO NOT WIPE DATA WHEN INSTALLING)
Steps to do a install:
1) Download & copy to sdcard
2) reboot recovery,
3) MAKE A NANDROID!
4) wipe dalvik/cache
5) install from sdcard.
Thanks to Ridder215215, a complete guide on how to install CM9 (just replace the link in line 2 with the link above)

Nope, I'm gonna make this side-by-side with CM9. (And i'm gonna get started on another one soon if cj360 doesn't beat me to it ) (In fact i'm making the latest CM9 now)
I am sure this has already been asked but am I to assume that as it is based off off CM9 that the touchpads will not work? The only thing holding me back from all the other CM based ROMs is that I heard that touchpads do not work as that is part of the Sony Ericcson framework... Anyway besides that... thank you for the ROM is looks great... also I recognize the wallpaper on the screenshot and I know its a music band but what is the name of the group?

Actually, this one isn't based off CM9. It's as AOSP as possible (no CM9 additions in it )
But yeah, touchpads are still iffy, and the band is Demon Hunter.
This is definitely going in my list of what to try once I can install custom kernels! This looks SO cool!
Pax, without you we r800xers would not have much.. thank you!!!
As always pax, well done sir.
Just to let those who are unaware know, in Advanced Testing in the Settings menu, Spare Parts settings force closes the Settings menu, as does Development settings.
Pax, you said, in your CM9 thread, that the T-Mobile Theme Chooser had been added to the source, right? Do you know if it's working properly, and do you plan on sticking it in CNA, or just in CM9?

Just CM9, it'd take a ton of changes to the framework to implement the theme engine into cna.

EDIT: Uploading Full version now (full version has music & messanger added in, i might add others in later.) it's second in the queue behind newest CM9 & mediafire says it's gonna take forever & then some. stupid slow internet.
CNA-Full up!
This looks good:
However I would hate to try and merge this into my current source tree, imagine the conflicts!
Seriously though, I'll be watching their git like a hawk now

Wow Pax ,this runs well
lightningdude said:
Just to let those who are unaware know, in Advanced Testing in the Settings menu, Spare Parts settings force closes the Settings menu, as does Development settings.
Pax, you said, in your CM9 thread, that the T-Mobile Theme Chooser had been added to the source, right? Do you know if it's working properly, and do you plan on sticking it in CNA, or just in CM9?

+1 regarding the bugs noted. Originally I thought it was because Spare Parts wasn't installed, but it still FCs after Spare Parts is installed.
Is anyone else having a problem with the dictionary calling almost every word misspelled? Swype still detects the right words, but all my words are underlined in red. This is after flashing the newest, didn't stay long enough on the first version to notice.

[ROM][PORT] *** NookieJoyOS! v1.2.2b *** [6/14]

Hello Again Nookers!
I present to you NookieJoyOS!
Using Mirage's CM7 as a base I ported over the Defy 1.2.2 version of the JOYOS ROM. All I did was port it, thanks to the CM team et al as well as the JOYOS team for this rom. This rom is a straight emulation of the iOS look and feel.
Take it as it is, not sure how much or any tweaking I plan on making to this rom. However, if there are updates from the JOYOS team. I'll try my best to keep the rom up to date. I did this for fun, just to see if I could and it worked!
Tips & Issues?
-Recommended to format /system & /data as well as clearing /cache before flashing this new rom
-This comes with market pre-installed so no need to flash gapps
-For soft buttons download Button-Savior from market. Or you can go into settings and enable tablet tweaks for CM soft buttons.
-Some JOYOS apps has chinese characters in them, not sure what I can do about that Fixed!
-Recent apps screen shows kinds of, what's that technical term for it... oh yeah "wonky"
-There is an annoying "System Update" pop-up stating that this is not an official JOYOS release. To get rid of it, just remove "JOYSystemUpdate.apk" from /system/apps and it should stop. Or rename it to "JOYSystemUpdate.apk.bak". However you will now get a Force Close when trying to enter the System Update menu (not that you need it anyways) Removed!
-Please report anything else you find so I can post it here for other users as well
-See second post for CHANGELOG
And last but not least. Love it or hate it, just hope you enjoy it!

CHANGELOG:
NookieJoyOS v1.2.2b (6/14/12):
-Used Mirage CM7 5/27 build as base (tried using latest 6/09 build, but a merge from upstream was causing FC's on the status bar, gonna have to wait for an update from JOYOS themselves. Unless someone wants to play with smali files )
-Used Defy JOYOS Rom 1.2.2 to port
-Tons of xml and png edits to optimize appearance on our Nook Color.
-Removed all Chinese characters from all system apps (if you find any still, please advise)
-Fixed Music player control buttons alignment
-Fixed Settings display alignments
-Fixed Clock bottom menu alignment & removed all Chinese characters
-Fixed Contacts bottom menu alignment
-Fixed lockscreen alignment
-Removed system apps unused on our Nook Color
-Removed 'system update' error
-If you catch any misalignment anywhere, please advise
-Enjoy!
NookieJoyOS v1.2.2a (6/5/12):
-First release
-Used Mirage CM7 5/09 build as base
-Used Defy JOYOS Rom 1.2.2 to port
-Still has Chinese characters in some system apps (eg. Calendar)
-Alot of alignment issues (work to be done on next update)
Sweet! Its great to see so much development going on still.
If i may though, have any screen shots you could post for us?
DOH! Never mind... I missed the coming soon... Heh
Based on your post in the other thread I have to ask, are the screen shots in 240 or in 160 DPI? The "About This Phone" screenshot is making me ask.
Also, what did you note as different between the JOYOS v1.1.9 and the JOYOS v1.2.2?
Regardless, thank you very much for this!

It's in 240 dpi. The only way for it to fill up the whole screen correctly is to set it to 300 dpi. But then the icons and screens gets blurry. It's sharper at 240 for me so i left it there. I'm sure there's edits I can make in the framework-res.apk, but I haven't gotten that far yet.
Really didn't use it much to notice any difference between 1.1.9 and 1.2.2. But there are info on the updates on their website. You an find it at www.joyos.cn. It's in chinese so use google translate to translate it.

I have been using MIUI for quite a while on my NC and this looks very similar. Can someone tell me what the differences are between this and MIUI?
Looks good (excepting those alignment issues you mentioned might need a framework edit) but something really needs to be done about the update errors detecting this is an unapproved port! I've attached a screen shot so you can see what I mean.

There's nothing that states this is an "unapproved port". It just states that the rom is not an Official release form JOYOS themselves. I'll see what I can do to disable that on next update.
EDIT: If you want to avoid the "System update" error that keeps popping up, just remove "JOYSystemUpdate.apk" from /system/apps and it should stop. Or rename it to "JOYSystemUpdate.apk.bak". However you will now get a Force Close when trying to enter the System Update menu (not that you need it anyways) I'll remove it on next update whenever there is one.
It runs pretty smooth so far. How do they theme this wherever it is that it came from(China?)
It looks strangely like ios..

You may want to use the Atrix port by stevendeb25. It does not have this issue and is fully translated(chinese in notification clear button only). Great work though. Really like it in the Nook.
FWIW, I converted it to dualboot primary with the cache scripts, and I works like a charm. Nice!
this looks like iOS wayyy too much

lolol! I feel the same way. It was more of a, can I port it kind of deal for me. And it worked. So thought I'd share it for the few that do enjoy it. Options never hurt.
My kids like it though!

Well i forgot to post what Mirage build this was based off. So guess i'll tell u now and update OP later.
The base I used was Mirage 5-09 build I believe. Not sure why I didn't use the latest one. But on next update I will.
Now to answer your question. I would recommend a full wipe /system & /data before installing this rom. However since this was based off a Mirage build. You could go ahead and try just flashing over the Mirage build and then wipe /cache and /dalvik-cache and see what happens?
Let me know how it went.
Thanks,
Racks
Have you had a chance to look at the Atrix port e07015 mentioned?

I think you may be breaking some rules putting this "placeholder" thread up.. You best hurry and upload a rom before you get flamed by the mods!

thought that the upload would be done in a couple of minutes but with seacom link down it is taking forever
It's okay, I guess the rules state that you have 24 hours to provide a link.
I see you added Adfree, very nice program, however it uses an insane amount of RAM 50 MB or more while running in the background. I therefore use Adaway which seems to work really well but uses NO RAM because it edits the hosts file.
