Power Saving Mode on Galaxy S2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all....this strange thing I have noticed in the last few months....I used to keep the power saving mode enabled....and every time by afternoon my battery will fall below 30% which I have kept as the threshold. In the last two weeks I have disabled the power saving mode and I have a longer battery life....now I only have to put it for charge at night!
Anybody having this same issue!!!!

Lol, congratulation XD

If you're using a custom ROM, probably the kernel governor handles battery better than the stock saving mode from Samsung.

power saving mode also uses battery as it periodically wakes the phone to check the battery level when sleeping.
Enable it if you are a heavy user and need warning when the phone battery level falls below a certain level.

I have the stock rom...still not gone into rooting or custom roms

[Q] Enabling power save mode at a certain battery %?

Hi there guys,
I was just wondering if it's possible to enable the GS3 to switch over to power saving mode hits a certain battery percentage. If I'm not mistaken my sister's GS2 has this option in her settings.
Would really be a bit of a life saver for me as I don't seem to be getting the best battery performance on the phone (needs a daily recharge under light-moderate use).

[Q] i717 AT&T ICS Power Saving Notification - TURN OFF NOTIFICATION?

I have i717 AT&T updated stock ICS rooted. I set the device in Power Saving mode to kick in at 50% battery life. Once it hits the 50% battery life mark it displays a notification window saying "Battery level below 50%. Power saving will run. Continue?" It seems this notification pops up almost every time I bring the phone out of rest mode (clicking power button to turn on the screen's lockscreen). It alerts me many times.
It's incredibly annoying when my phone alarm wakes me up in the morning and I'm reaching over to try to slide my finger over the screen to shut off the alarm, but it won't do anything because the damn power saving mode notification window is up and waiting for me to press OK or CANCEL.
Can I disable this notification? I can't find the area to make this setting.
I also looked at installed apps and don't see anything that resembles Power Saving Mode to see if there are any settings I can make through ROMToolbox.
Is this something I can try to disable through Tasker?
Can anyone please advise?
Why is your battery below half first thing in the morning?
You could charge it overnight then the battery will be full when your alarm goes off.
Otherwise to turn off that notification will take some editing of the rom.
That notification is there because power saving mode under clocks the cpu amongst other things that sacrifice performance for battery life... if when you want to unlock the device and run it full speed for just a couple minutes you hit cancel on that notification... or ok to run at the throttled specs of power saving mode.
I played around with power saving mode when I first got the note and noticed that any power saved by the throttling was wasted by me waiting on it with the screen on lol . So I just bought a second battery and external charger.
I am of the old school of "rechargeable batteries" where I let the battery drain to near 100% before charging again, and when I have it plugged in for charging I let it get 100% before disconnecting. I don't know if the batteries today don't have the problem of losing its lifespan due to incomplete charge sessions.
I get about 48hrs between charges with the workload I put on the device...NOT a phone gamer or constant "feelings" updater on facebook.
Studacris (I feel odd saying that) - mind if I pass an issue by you for your opinion?

I'm reply #7 - I thought I found the issue of my default ringtone/notification sound resetting to default all the time...but it JUST happened again.

The chemistry in batteries nowadays is much improved as well as software for charging:
True a battery does have a finite amount of charge cycles, however a charge cycle doesn't count add each time it's plugged in, it's each time a full 100% charge and drain have occurred:
drain halfway, charge full, drain half, charge= 1 cycle and so forth.
Furthermore overcharging isn't possible. android stops charging at full and the lets the battery sip on 1% for a while then starts charging eventually once needed.
And with such a low cost for a replacement battery it really isn't much to worry about.

[Q] Battery consumption is more at the boot up of the device

Hello Friends,
I had made changes in S/W as suggested in post :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2208267
The device I am working is also having wake up lag about 2 sec.It varies from 1.2sec,0.8sec,1.8sec..etc
I implemented the new wake log to prevent the phone from deep sleep as you have mentioned.
Now the time required for wake up from deep sleep is reduced to 0.8s and its quite consistent.Although I have to yet check for battery consumption during deep sleep.
However I have found that now when the phone is reset the battery consumption is more during the power up of the phone.
For Ex. from 36% before power up and 24% after powerup.
Checked with another device and its only taking 3% for boot up.
Please guide me on this.
Regards,
if your phone is old like more than 1 year, suck it up dont cry, happens to evryone

[Q] extrem battery draining

Hi! I have a Galaxy S6 edge for a few weeks and I am disappointed in the battery life. It drained from 100% to 65% in the ultra power saving mode with turned off screen and disabled any network conntections within 5 hours! I really dont know what to do... I use Clean Master and Greenify and deactivated most of the services running in background and I didnt get any solutions. Please help!
the battery drainage could be due to the fact you use CM and greenify…
if I'm on 100% and I turn on ultra mode i get over a days use.. what do you have running in the background?
Hi, I had the same problem.
What made it better for me: I cleaned the cache and used phone till 0% till it shut downed and then let it charged overnight.
Today is first day and at the moment i have had 2% battery drain per hours on idle, 4G turned on.

I am just using WhatsApp Facebook etc... there are not special apps that could extremely drain my battery running in background. I factory reseted my phone and will activate the ultra power saving mode this night to and I will see. Thanks for replies.

How to auto power off device in battery low level?

Hello,
My device doesn't have a function to power off when the battery level is low. So shuts down when battery is drained and cannot be power on until I put it to charger and wait 5 minutes or more.
Is there an application or a script or something I can do to auto power off when the battery levele is below 10% for e.g?
Anybody?

Hello and welcome to the XDA Q&A section of the Forum.
There are plenty of power saving apps in the Google Play Store that can notify you when your battery level is critcal so you can either get your charger or save your data so that you don't lose it because you didn't hit save. Here is another "thread" started for the same purpose of yours, remember, search before you post
I think is quite clear what I'm asking. I'm not looking for a low batery level alarm application or power saving on low battery level. I already have an app like you suggested and also the devices has a power saving option on low battery level. But it doesn't have a function to power off the device before battery level reaches 0%. I specifically asked for a way to auto power off the device when battery level is critical(at 5% for e.g).
I found the app Automate though but it doesn't work, I get an error when the action performed and device stays on.

For me it was not clear because why can't you just wait for it to shut down, you will even get a bit more time to use the device itself.
Yeah for me its clear and also looking for sth like that.
Scenario:
Going to sleep with video streaming turned on and unplugged cell phone
Dont want to wake up as with drained battery cause it damages it, just want to turn off automatically when in its lets say 50%
I have galaxy s5 and already killed THREE batteries with this scenario in range of last six months.
Now ive changed to newer with no easy battery replacing and dont want to kill phone
Yeeee viva la luthium ion batteeries
Anyway anybody can help?
I dont have option for charging when sleeping
Im angry. It is basic feature in windows, i mean task scheduling related to power and afk
