X2 bootlogo/splash screen - Motorola Droid X2

Does anyone know of a good app I can use to change my bootlogo/splash screen? It's the only infected part of my X2 that i hate and want to change. Please and thank you

But anyways...to answer--

There is go.
As of now this is the only way to change splash screen

It gets easier and easier to do it the more you do it. Just make sure everything is precise.

Thanks for posting this. Once I return home from work, I will be testing this on my device. I will post the results and any discoveries I make.

I'm sitting here, got the zip downloaded. I'm so freaking tempted to try getting into the blur cloud, but I'm a chicken lol.

Well, I tried it. I could not get the cloud button. Maybe someone else will have more luck.

Damn... I was on my phone and I guess I didn't see the exclamation point... Oh well...
Actually the Atrix and the X2 are nearly identical. That's why the CWM recovery for the atrix works.

You are right. Which is why I have been trying to use your kernel source. Sadly Motorola keeps releasing broken kernel source.
Sounds interesting

Did you guys see this? Supposed boot loader unlock for the X2

Delete me please....just another useless thread after I followed the links. This used to have a link to a purposed boot loader unlock for the X2 but it is just a link to the Atrix instructions.
Mod's please delete this thread.
Looks like no one there wants to even try it. One guy said P3droid would've seen that already and commented on it if it would work. But who knows...

I kinda doubt he would know or not, it would be a lot of speculation on his part. He doesn't even have an X2.
Its only a theory, and i'm not promising anything
He got a pre-rooted GB for x2 without having one which is impressive.

Recovery reboot option(Request)

I've always appreciated having the option of rebooting into recovery on the "phone options" when powering off. Typically if I have already used the dx2 bootstrap into recovery previously I can just power down when im plugged in and ill reboot into cwm...and my old dx and other phones I've seen have it typically. Pretty sure its doable.
So if anyones up for adding it to your list of things to do id be extatic.
Thx in advance.

We don't have an official bsr. In order for the reboot recovery to work, i think the script calls for Koush's signature, or something like that, and our recovery doesn't have the proper sig. Not only is it a hacked up recovery, it's an ancient one. I don't see recovery ever being added, unfortunately.
Oh, btw, wrong forum.

Xodus is correct.
We were all excited for a while when koush got an x2 bout a month or two ago thinking we would finally get a "real" x2 recovery option. Its a little frustrating to see almost EVERY moto phone except for us have that option. And the only "real"x2 difference between our phone and others is our tegra2. I can't see that being the reason we can't get this option. It Has GOT to be doable if someone would just put the work/time into creating it.
Well, don't they have one for the Xoom? We need to see if we can port some of the Xoom hacks. The only difference REALLY are honeycomb and the screen size(right?).

For inquiring minds they're don't know, an unlocked bl allows you to flash cwm to become THE recovery; no bsr or hacked jobs needed.

Cuz XOOM SHIPS with unlocked bootloader of.course
This is what the x2 needs desperately if we ever want to see some.permanent fixes for.performance issues we have had.
I swear someone needs to unlock this caged beast. @Motorola I'm looking at you. STOP LETTING VZW BULLY YOU INTO PERMANENT LOCKED BOOTLOADERS. THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW!! AT LEAST LEAK US SOME.OPTIONS OR.PUT A METHOD OUT THERE FOR US TO USE...doesn't even need to be official on their website....just send it to a newb in the x2 forum and let em spread the news lol....AAAAGGGHHHH
.
/end rant sorry
Ya well even though we aren't unlocked...it would seem that some sort of autorun sequence for the two commands in the dx2 bootstrap could be programmed to run one after the other in the background at the push of a button on that menu. But it couldn't really be that simple -_-

Logic seems airtight. I mean, if you can push the button in System Recovery and it'll boot to charge mode or recovery mode then why can't the same commands used to perform that action be used as a reboot recovery option. I'm no dev. I would imagine if it was that easy, it would've been done by now.
"Reboot widget" from the market is a good alternative for now....

Seems to me the charge mode is the weakest link in the chain. The normal boot sequence is dependent on encryption and system checks, the battery animation doesn't require so much security. It would make sense to me, after reading the cvpcs blog about 2nd init, they could use 2nd init to hijack normal boot, but that sounds like a total pain in the ass.

ya XOdus...with nitro and masta being basically the only two devs for the dx2 I figured I'd just throw this out there and hopefully someone reads it. If i were savoy with making roms I'd be all over it, but hopefully just my train of thought may help someone with their endeavors in making their rom worth while. Nitro put our bootstrapper in his "eclipse parts" so I would imagine he might be interested in advancing farther.
We have it on the bionic. We're locked plus have to use a bootstrap. Ask around in that forum....
It's on Th3ory's ROM.

I only used the xda app after my laptop broke, but even now with it working I still use my phone haha
Would be cool to get the option to reboot to recovery in the power menu.

I can do it but you still have to be plugged into the wall. I found it kind of pointless since you need the app to toggle it back to charge mode if needed.

youd have to make it work for the dx2, theyll port over, but they dont have the same specs as the x2; like the atrix and photon have more RAM then we do all together, and a front facing camera i believe, so itd be a little more difficult, as well the atrix, photon, and xoom have unlockable bootloaders compared to ours
Sent from my MB870 using Tapatalk
Just a warning. Dont go flashing ROMs from any other phone to your X2. They wont work and you will end up having to SBF. A ROM has to specifically be made for the X2. Phones that are similar to the X2, like the atrix, xoom, etc., are usually used for porting because they only require little changes in the code here and there. But most of the time, its still not as easy as that to just port over a ROM. Bottom line, just flash ROMs that are made for the X2 unless you know what you are doing and know how to port a ROM.
nope...

New idea for tablet ui on our phone

First off this is a development idea for right now.
The idea is instead of trying to chang dpi and a bunch of other settings that cause problems, we simply enable webtop 3.0 on our phone screen itself rather than mirror it to a display. Doing so would give a working tablet ui and would also get rid of all of the problems that other methods have.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
Get ready to get *****ed at for starting another thread about the same thing. lol
Its a cool idea though. Do you think our phones can handle the ui? Are you thinking something more like a theme or a skin or a complete new user interface?

I'm curious to why you want this? You would need to fool the device into thinking the phone has a much higher resolution meaning that everything on screen will be tiny (I think).

It would be nice to have the ui like on paranoid android, like hybrid on this phone.

In webtop you can choose a resolution, so all you have to do is go into settings and turn the resolution down.

I've watched overzealous moderation destroy good forums long before there was even a world wide web. I'm not saying that is happening here, but...
If you tried say to create a nandroid of your Web top then flash it to your safe system in safestrap then boot into it and ran into problems you could justifiably ask for help on the dev forums, or just ask where you could find the Web top applications on your phone. It could be as simple as installing the Web top launcher over the stock and using something like home smack to switch between the two. If you took any small step in trying to achieve the goal then asked for help it would be undeniably dev forum material. It's probably more complicated than just booting into it or using the launcher but if you take a lead ill help.

That tricks the phone into thinking it has a lower dpi which makes applications behave weird and force close, what im working on is getting the phone to run webtop 3.0 as the main os/launcher so that you have a fully compatible tablet ui on your phone.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
Wouldn't we be better off porting ParanoidAndroid over? since it's based of cm9 and we have cm9 almost stable on the Razr, it would be much easier than forcing tablet launcher.
Also what exactly is the benefit of webtop as to me it only seems usable in a large screen size. I think usability would be considerably more cumbersome.
Sent from my Nexus 7
I don't think it'll be to difficult to accomplish seeing as webtop is launched almost as an application when HDMI is connected since they implemented 3.0
The reason I'm not holding my breath on a parandroid port is because development seems to be slowing down for our phone and i hate to rely on other people
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
I've also seen webtop displayed on the razr screen briefly when unplugging from my atrix lapdock. I think it would be interesting to flip the bit somehow to make it stay persistently just to play around with and see what it's like!
