Not really RAZR-specific, but it's the little things that make this phone so awesome. I just wanted to say an open "thank you" to Google for their new music app. Not only does most of my music carry over to it from my computer, but I don't have to store it on my phone.
The best feature is it sends track/artist information over bluetooth to my car headunit, something no other music player has done for me. It also allows my headunit to control Google music via my steering wheel controls; another bonus feature that doesn't always work as well with other players.
What Music app are you talking about? On my Razr I have the Moto developed app that gives you access to webradio and Motocast etc., not Googles music app.

Google Music app is available from the Market for free.
Beartard, what kind of vehicle do you have? Is this a Ford sync feature?
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty with a JVC KD-R926 headunit. Nothing special at all, really.

Just wondering if anyone using this music app, or any others, has been able to get the lock screen music controls to work. I really like having them and they are currently the only reason I have stuck with the stock music app. Thanks
David:
MortPlayer Music has a downloadable lockscreen widget that gives you control on the lockscreen (you will need the player and the widget--two seperate downloads, both free). The only catch is that it's a folder-based player, so it'll only handle music that is actually on your device. Hope this helps!

Correction: you only need the player. You can enable the lockscreen controls via Mortplayer's settings in 'Lockscreen' section.

I currently use Musicbee on my laptop - any suggestion as to a great one for the NT?
PowerAmp is my favorite android music player, but it has a bit of an issue with the status bar being on the bottom of the screen, making it hard to click on certain settings. I just use Google Music on it for the time being.
Google music here, can't beat the streaming.

Google music in conjunction with Pure Music App. The pure music widget has a back button which I find useful.

I've downloaded a few albums from Google Music. Would like to play them with the built-in Music app, but Music doesn't see any of my downloaded music.
Root explorer showed me the music downloaded from Google Music was in :
\sdcard\Android\data\com.google.android.music\cache\music
I tried copying the music folder over to the external card sdcard2 (where I'd really LIKE to store my music), but the Music app still doesn't find it.
Most surprisingly, I can't find a setting for either Google Music or Music to specify a download or Music folder.
Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?
If you purchased the music from google music the music isn't actually on your device, it is in the cloud on google music servers. Only way to get stock htc music player to see that music is to download the music from google music and put it directly on your device.
Hope that helps.

Yes.... that's what I'm trying to do. I downloaded Google Music from the cloud by "making music available offline", but the stock htc music player won't see it
Not true, R2does the developer from the dinc forum has a paid app that allows you to do it. Never tried it myself, but heard good things about it. There is also a Google music importer on the market that does the same thing. You have to download it as offline library, but other music apps will be able to play it.

Thanks, found Google Music Importer on the market. I'll give it a try.
I just got a razr (gsm on rogers) and When it connects to my car it doesnt automatically start playing music like all my other phones have. I have to go to the music app and start it playing, is there any way to get it to play automatically?
Don't know about the stock player as my car radio doesn't do A2DP but the music player Poweramp has a resume on connect to bluetooth option.

Even if the stock app supported resume on connect it wouldn't matter since it can't remember what was played last.
I know the power amp & n7 player will resume on connect, I'm sure most other players should as well but I've only used those 2 with BT.

For me it also doesn't show any media information. Only Stock Player does it

That's odd, here's a screen shot of my car dock home with a power amp widget on it. The main app shows the same thing but puts artist-album on 1 line.

trying another app
Download Tasker. simply the best automation app for your android. i have mine set up to present me with a list of apps with icons whenever my phone connects to my head unit in the car.
so when it connects i can choose between Pandora, G Music, Dood's, or Maps.
of course you can tell it to simply open your app of choice as well
Opening the app doesnt help it needs to start a playlist as well. Looks like the latam ics solves the problem because it will play a playlist if you set it up under smart actions now. Hopefully it works i havent tried it but i did set it up to play the playlist whenmit connects to my car bluetooth
Hey XDA-Developers Community!
I've got a Problem regarding the Voice Control Features for Music Playback on Android Wear.
I often use it to quickly start listening to Music of a certain Artist, by saying something like: play [artist].
But when doing this on my Moto 360 it always launches the SoundCloud app and searches for the corresponding Artist there.
However, I want this to be done with Google Play Music or the Music app provided by CM11.
When using Google Now on my Phone (LG G3 running CM11) I can choose which app should be used for Playback and it always uses my Preset.
I have "Music Playback" set to Play Music in the Android Wear Application and reset any default Actions in the app Directory of the Phone Settings.
I hope that someone maybe had the same Issue and/or knows a Way around it.
Greetings from Germany and I wish you all an awesome (hopefully sunny) Sunday!
auto stop current music when choosing other music app & how start app in background
Question/problem1:
When i listen to MP3 using the music apk and i switch to radio the MP3 is stopped/paused and radio is started.
When i listen radio and switch back to music then radio is muted/stopped and MP3 starts to play, PERFECT, this is what i want
But....
When i use an other music app (for example vlc, internet streaming radio or ds-audio etc etc etc) and i start this, the currenct radio/music etc keeps playing on and i hear 2 music sources at the same time...
So i have to stop/end the current music before choosing an other music source.
How can i solve this so whenever i choose an other music source the currect music source is always muted first?!
A second question:
How can i start an app on boot which runs immiditaly in the background?
I use a app called 'flitsmeister' which is an app which warns me on spoeed traps, traffic controls, slow traffic etc
This app currently starts on boot, but i always have to push home button to force this app to the background, it pops-up when there is something to report, so there is no need to run it on the foreground.
So the question is: how to i start an app on boot and let it run immidiatly on the background so i get my dashboard on boot and not this app?
Sorry I don't have an answer to this but I am 100% with you on the functionality and have been looking into it for the last couple of days. I think it might have something to do with the built in apps using one audio stream and the 3rd party apps using another. I have to say I thought I was going mad that I couldn't seem to find any other posts relating to this anywhere else on the forum. As the source code for both the inbuilt apps like Radio and the external apps like Spotify is not available I would think the only solution would be an additional app to run in the background and monitor either the audio streams or the apps themselves being executed.
Maybe someone with some more experience can answer or even better point us in the direction of an app that will perform such a task.

I'd like an answer to this also w/o having to wait for tasker to load.

Maybe you would find my app helpful. Search the forum for modeswitch. A new improved version is coming in a while. It works well with Spotify and allows the SWC to control Spotify. Now it adds voice call capabilities, but as now this is possible with dsa`s workaround, it will be removed in the new version to spped things up. Besides Spotify its possible to add until 2 custom apps. The app tries to respect the audio focus, so that only one app play audio

To use your app you must cycle through them all though right? So you must cycle through radio, video and media player?

The video player is not circled. The DVD and music player have option to opt-out from the circle. As well as Spotify and 2 custom apps..
In next versions maybe I will add the option to respect audio focus without. Using the circle, but maybe this will slow things down...
Great thanks.
Dave
I don't know if this helps but I have noticed through testing. The built in apps play sound while they have focus, either through the app or the widget. For example, if you open the radio app and click the home button it will continue to play. However if you click the radio app and click back it will stop playing. Obviously the 3rd party apps do not work like this and continue to play in the background regardless of how you exit them.
