I've noticed that when I'm using the on-screen virtual keyboard in landscape mode, with the phone held either straight up and down or overhead (when lying on my back), pressing some of the keys on the far left side pull down the status bar rather than giving me the letter, character, etc. that I'm pressing. Instead, they cause the status bar to drop down and display status messages.
The most common letter at fault is A. The shift key also does this sometimes.
I have to tilt the phone such that the display is pointing slightly upwards rather than being straight on in order to get the A key to work.
It happens when composing SMS messages, Facebook entries, forum entries via any web browser (stock, Dolphin, Boat, Miren): any time i'm using the soft keyboard in landscape mode with the phone held perpendicular to the floor or tilted so the display is facing slightly downward.
I first noticed this on my Samsung Galaxy Ace when it still had the stock Froyo on it, and I got the same problems with stock Gingerbread, CodeROM, VillainROM and others. Now I own a Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro with its stock Gingerbread and I have the same problem on it, so it seems to be a generic Android issue, but ?? Is anyone else having this issue?

Hey, guys! I've just been wondering if any of you other guys have been getting the same odd behavior as me with the latest stock ATT FUZE ROM.
It deals with the phone display switching between portrait and landscape orientation when you flip out the keyboard. For some reason, the Windows taskbar appears every time I flick out the keyboard to type something while using full screen apps such as YouTube. It irritates me because all the other ROMs I've tried don't exhibit this issue. I can make it disappear by tapping the Start menu and exiting it, but having to do that every time I flick the keyboard out and flicking it back in is quite annoying. I was wondering if any of you know how I could disable this behavior.
It appears that any orientation switching without flicking out the keyboard (ex. Opera rotating using the accelerometer) doesn't make the taskbar pop out, but switching between portrait and landscape with the keyboard always triggers the taskbar to pop out in full screen apps. Again, it's easy enough to just tap the Start menu and exit out again to make the taskbar disappear, but I would LOVE to just have it not appear altogether, like all the other builds of WM that I've been using.
Anyone out there that can duplicate the issue I'm having? Furthermorem anyone know how I can remove the behavior?
I'm running Galaxy Task 14 Slim on my Tab and in the browser (only place where I've noticed it) the cursor (blinking line to input text) won't show up anywhere expect the adress bar. I can still input text but dont see where I'm typing. I'm assuming this is due to the white text field not showing the white cursor. Has anyone else noticed this or has a fix for this problem. I am also using the stock HC keyboard. Thanks!!!
I've noticed the same thing and just never figured it as a "problem".
I use a slide-it keyboard mostly so it happens on other keyboards too.
I only have the cursor not show in some places so it's just those apps with the problem. Like you said white on white is a real possibility.
Thanks for the reply, wanted to make sure it wasn't just me experiencing this. I mean its not a huge deal but its just weird editing text and filling out forms without it.
yeah it's annoying when it happens. find myself clicking in boxes I'm already in. Quite often a few times before I remember the problem. LOL
Sent from my GT-P7510 using one stinky finger.
As I didn't find anything related, I wonder if anyone else have come across this, or if it's just my device.
When I open up an e-mail and scroll to the right, this is what happens:
First scroll seems fine, when I drag from right to left using the entire screen area.
On the second scroll, I put my finger on the right side of the screen, and when I start dragging to the left, the image jumps back 1/3 to the right, before moving to the left again.
This problem came right after I upgraded to 4.0.3 (stock I9100XXLPQ) and never happened on 2.3.6.
Tried both native email client and Enhanced Email from the marked. Same issue.
Seems to be related to e-mail clients only, as scrolling horizontally in the native browser and the gallery works just fine. Also dragging left/right in the Nova launcher is very smooth.
Anyone have an idea about what could be the cause to this problem?

Click to collapse
Ok let me put this in a nice way. Samsung completely screwed up the scrolling in ICS. So to answer your question: Samsung is the cause of your problem...
Just flash your gingerbread or a good old cm9.
Have a good day :]
I recently recieved my Xperia S back from Sony today as I had the yellow tint issue. That seems to be gone 'fingers crossed' but it seems like I now have a more annoying issue
The bottom right of my screen is less sensitive than the rest of the screen. For example when unlocking my phone I find it very hard to get the unlock icon from one side to the other. It gets to about where the camera Icon is and then it goes back to where I dragged it from. It take me about 5 attempts to get it unlocked.
Also when draging icons on the homescreen to the far right position on the homescreen dock and I can have some trouble picking up the icon or moving it there.
I've found a part of my screen that doesn't respond at all! On the app drawer the icon next to the sorting option (Manage Applications button) doesn't respond at all. I've tried clicking it over 20 times and nothing has happened. If I drag the status bar down over the icon it doesn't recognise that my finger is touching the screen and then the status bar falls the the bottom of the screen.
I've tried restoring my phone and trying a newer firmware but the problem is still there. Did they do something wrong when they put my phone back together? Is there anything I can do rather than sending it back to Sony?
Hey guys,
I got the Zenfone 9 yesterday and I'm already thinking about returning it. Main pain point at the moment is the Asus launcher, or rather the gesture navigation. Swiping left and right to switch between the applications is not working well for me. I'd say only half of the swipes (left or right) are actually changing the app. I'm pretty sure that I'm not too clumsy, since I don't have any problems on my Pixel 5 with the gesture navigation. Like I said, sometimes it works for a couple of swipes in a row, then it just stops changing apps. Then it works again.
I found 1 thread on the asus forums where a user had similar problem with the button navigation, without any real solution.
I also tried a different launcher (Nova and Neo Launcher), which of course suffers from the third party launcher bug (home screen blank for a second or just not registering clicks for a brief moment), so using another launcher is not an option and the problem with the swiping is present there as well.
Anybody else have this problem? Anything I can change?
PS: I had to do a wipe data via bootloader since the phone was stuck in a bootloop upon first boot, so I'm not offf to a good start here with this phone.
Use a case and tell us. Maybe a problem of palm rejection...
Using a case doesn't make a difference. I also have this problem when the phone is just laying on a table and I'm using just one finger to swipe on the bar.
After searching some more, I'm pretty sure that it is a defect. This issue is so obvious on my phone, I'm pretty sure it is a defective unit.
I guess I'll be returning this phone then......
Never had a single navigation bar misbehavior
