[Q] Blutooth PBAP? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone having issues with Bluetooth Phone Book Access Profile?
I seem to be having an issue where my car will pair and connect, ask for permission to access the TB's phone book, I "always allow" but yet the car can't access the phone book.
It worked when I first got the car, but I think it broke around when I upgraded to 2.10.605.5.
Bionic works with the car fine (and the car can access its phonebook.

[Q] Strange Bluetooth issue

So I got the Thunderbolt on release day and the first thing I tried when leaving the store was syncing to my 2011 VW Tiguan. It did sync fine with the phone (handsfree) and phonebook. I was using it without issue until I decided the other day to try streaming media to the radio. Both devices showed that the mediastreaming was paired as well as the headset.
Long story short... it didnt work. No audio was streamed thru the connection. OK so fine. Except now when I connect the phone to the car it first connects the headset and the media streaming profiles and then disconnects the headset. It will not reconnect at all now. (Actually it says that it is paired but disconnected)
I deleted everything and tried to re-pair it to no effect. I changed the phones name as well. I have tried a battery pull from the phone but it will no longer connect the headset profile to the car or download the phonebook.
**UPDATE**
I was able to pair it and use my jawbone headset. Would still like to get the speaker phone working.
Any thoughts? Im in the car for many hours per day and this is going to make me crazy.

Bluetooth reconnect issue

Having some trouble with the bluetooth on my car kit with the Evo 3D. I have no idea if anyone here can help, but I'll see if you guys have any suggestions. I play podcasts through my car kit to my car stereo. I have been able to successfully pair the phone to the car kit, both for handsfree and a2dp. The problem is that after I turn the car off, the bluetooth fails to reconnect when I turn the car back on. I had an iPod also paired to it and that always reconnected without issue.
If I go into the bluetooth control panel and try to manually connect it, it fails as well. The only way to make it work is to unpair the phone from the car kit, and re-pair it again. After that it works until either the car kit or phone is disconnected again. I'm not sure why it works once, and then not again. Is some app on the phone possibly messing with it?
Any ideas?
Well, it works fine with my iPod, and my Palm Pre, so I tried my wife's LG Optimus. There must be an issue with this car kit and Android phones because it worked about the same with her phone as it does my Evo 3D. I did actually get it to reconnect automatically with her phone once, but could never get it to work again after that. So, off to Amazon I go to look for a new car kit...

Android-to-Android Bluetooth Profiles

Hi everyone,
I am an owner of the GSIII I747M and the ASUS Transformer, both running ICS. I recently had this idea (fantasy?) where I mount the Transformer in my car, hook it up to the car speakers and basically use it as my in-car infotainment system instead of the headunit that's in there. Nothing wrong with my in-car headunit (except the fact that I can't get bluetooth to work with my GSIII), but the tablet will give me tons more features. When I enter the car, I want the tablet to automatically tether to my phone via wi-fi and via bluetooth. Wi-fi is for internet access and it works just fine. The bluetooth is for the hands-free profile, so that when I receive a call, the music/navigation/whatever gets interrupted and I can take the call. I also want to be able to dial from the tablet.
When I connect the two devices via bluetooth, I don't have a hands-free profile; indeed I have no useful profiles at all. My question is simple: is there an app for that? Any suggestions? Has anyone done this? Thanks!

Android phones not auto connecting to HTC Stereoclip

So I picked up the htc stereoclip (a100) the other day because my car stereo will do bluetooth voice calls, but not a2dp natively. It works great when connected, but that's where my problem lies. I posted this in general android as I think it might have to do with android directly and not specific to a specific phone since the same issue is occurring on my galaxy s 3 and my wife's htc one x. The problem is, if I leave bluetooth enabled on either phone, get into the car and start it up, it will not automatically connect with the stereoclip. I can resolve this by either turning bluetooth off then back on, or selecting the stereoclip to connect to in bluetooth settings. It's not a lot of work, but its rather annoying to dig my phone out and do that. Also, if I wanted to use tasker to say autoplay pandora when it connects, the automation is kinda lost as I still have to pull the phone out of my pocket. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Any apps in the store fix this or at least put a bandaid on it so I don't have to fiddle with it myself?

Bixby Routine with car bluetooth not always activating?

I made a bixby routine as follows: when my phone connects to my car bluetooth (VW Passat), it should do several things. But the problem is that the routine almost never starts working by itself? It only works after I manually turn off bluetooth and turn it back on after im already connected to my car. Anyone else have this problem? With tasker there's no such problem when connecting to my car bluetooth, but i'd like to use bixby routines instead of tasker...
Even though I have another routine which does several things after connecting to my BudsLive, and that one always works by itself without problems.
When you get in the car do you activate "media" on car, or just get in and let the phone connect to car? I have noticed on a lot of devices if you don't "fully" connect to media on car, such as playing streaming music many phones don't see the connection unless Media connected (you can pause music). I'll get phone calls fine, but no messages or Maps audio at all unless Media connected. As I said, same with all my older phones, started I think around Android 9. Think part is car manufacturers don't want to support phone options anymore, they want you to use Android Auto or Car Play and leave the software to Google and Apple.

The thing is, my car bluetooth doesnt want to activate "media" lol. It only connects for phone calls. When i try to activate media the button always returns back to off. Seems to be a samsung/volkswagen problem since i see alot of posts with the same problem when googling
I had Bixby Routines set up on my S21 to do some things automatically when connected with a car Bluetooth kit. Everything was working fine until the last update of One UI 4.0. After the update, nothing happens when I connect to the Bluetooth kit in the car. I deleted the Bixby routine, reset the app data, deleted the Bluetooth partnership, and reconnected to the car's Bluetooth kit - nothing helped.
When I create Bixby routines using regular Bluetooth headphones, everything works fine. The problem only occurs with the car's Bluetooth kit. While searching the Internet, I found out that there was a similar problem with Bixby procedures before. Back then, Bixby routines would not work if the bluetooth device did not have an audio profile. My BT car kit does not have such a profile, only a hands-free profile is available. Has the old malfunction returned?
