Hello HTC Amaze 4G owner. I don't own the Amaze but i own its cousin (T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II).
Anyway I just saw this video from T-Mobile and thought it was worth sharing
Nice....reminds me of the Sammy commercials.
I have noticed the amaze's stock camera is not better than the iphone's but if you install hdr camera+ u get great quality picc

This isnt saying much.
If you install HDR plus does it then become better than the Iphone 4 ?
Most people think the stock camera is great.
Are there other places that compare ? GN/iPhone4s/Amaze comparisons Id like to see.
i can do a few gs2 vs amaze shots, but i dont have access to an iphone4s..
here's a stock macro shot from amaze just for shigs and gittles
Personally, my Amaze replaced anything cheaper than an SLR. Near and far, it's fantastic.
it is at low light, dark where the amaze loses points.during daytime it's pics are awesome, they get better though if u use a good camera app

Hardware is far superior to the iPhone 4S hands down. It's the optics. If they somehow were able to run the exact same software, the Amaze would be undefeatde.

From what I had play with MOTO devices like the droid x and droid 2 there not bad maybe a lil better then that evo 3d, Samsung cameras are great but iPhone 4 takes the cake me personally owning and iPhone 4 I wonder why htc doesn't make there cameras sensor better, my buddy just got a photon 4g and it look like the pics are better less noise and better detail(might be because of the 8mp) but if you looking for a great device with camera wait for sgs2, but if you looking for better support and official updates stick with htc and sprint, htc thunderbolt doesn't have official gingerbread which I think is weird and MOTO droid x one doesn't neither and both phones are capable, the epic doesn't have gingerbread reason. Why wmy brother is getting an evo 3d but yet the shift 4G has it and my sister likes it specially cause they got sense 2.0
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d

The Evo 4G and the Iphone4 have the same camera sensor...not the same lens but I doubt they are that far off on quality. That leaves only one culprit: HTC being criminally negligent with their image processing software. It does seem to be their M.O.

this is very true but they seem to have changed that with the My touch slide 4G if someone could somehow port whatever software they are using on that phone to ours perhaps we would have a good camera as well. That being said its easier said than done. Seems like a very hard task
Would you switch to it from your 3D, or would you stay with your shooter?
I myself would switch to the 4G+. While the 3D camera is cool and all, it doesn't seem to allow for Image Stabilization or time stamp on image in the 2D camera on account of compatibility issues. Also, I've had a 5MP camera on my Hero WITH Image Stabilize and the time stamp on image features, and would love my next phone to have a better camera. 8MP and 1080 video sounds nice, and if all of the specs are the same as the 3D, then I think I'm there.
What do you all think? 3D or 4G+?
These posts are getting really lame; maybe they should create a "Migrage from EVO 3D" forum with all these whiny users.
The evo 3D and 4G+ sound like the exact same thing. Switching from the Evo 4G to the 3D is at least somewhat understandable for those who need the better specs, but wasting 600 dollars on something that is not really different from your phone is a terrible idea. Also, the 4G+ sounds like it will be on Verizon.
The 3d is htcs best phone. So the evo+ will be a downgrade. Prob more like the sensation since they wouldnt make the 3d second best

Another thread about switching to another phone. Shocking.....
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Megapixels really don't mean much. The og evo had an 8mp camera and it's pics were inferior to the camera in the 3d. The 5mp camera in the og epic took better pics than the 8mp camera in the og evo. If it has the same camera as the mt4g then it well have a good camera for a phone.

But anywho... ^^;
From what I read, the phones are supposed to be exactly the same, sans the camera. I agree, the camera is pretty nice on the 3D, but I am missing the features of a non 3D camera, (I mentioned the features didn't seem to be stable with the 3D feature).
Just curious about whether yall would stay with the 3D camera if you were given a choice.
Who knows, maybe by the time my upgrade comes around again there'll be something even better. lol

Sounds like a retarded idea. Switch from a phone to nearly the same damn phone for... 3mp difference? In probably ly number only?
Yeah. Bravo genius.
"HEY, war torn African people working slave conditions for the minerals used in phones. HEY, Assembly workers who work 30hr days and who will likely commit suicide because of the horrendous conditions. This guy wants an ever so slightly better camera in a phone that is exacting in every other way. Better work yourselves to death to keep up"
Its getting a little sickening hearing seeing all the threads of folks willing to drop something that has nothing wrong with it for something that is ever so slightly better and have no conscious about it.
Well ya, you're totally right. It is kinda not the brightest of ideas I suppose. I guess I'd really only switch to that one IF there wasn't another, better HTC phone coming out by the time my upgrade is up again.

Bump that...I got my old Krzr K1m still in the box, been sitting in my desk for years. lol
So I had bought an HTC Sensation this past Thursday. Yesterday I noticed dust behind the screen. Googled it and found it was a big problem for some and they exchanged it. Being within my 14 days I went today to exchange my sensation which T-Mobile did right away. Get back to work and start setting up the phone and notice an even bigger piece of dust under the screen! I went back after work to get a third one. The guy there then let me see the amaze. I liked it but do like the looks of the sensation better. Amaze was faster and smoother.
So basically I am the kind of person where yes dust under the screen annoys the crap out of me and I expect more from paying that much for a phone. So what would you do? Get a third sensation and hope for no dust or get the amaze and deal with the looks? (I love the back of the amaze but hate the metal ring, but it is starting to grow on me)
you answered your own question seriously bro
I'm thinking along the same lines as the OP here...got seriously burnt (and annoyed) with the Sensation, had 2 units both with exactly the same problem and have now received a full refund the piece of crap! So...I do like the looks of the HTC units and my wife is in the market for a new phone (upgrade from the Desire) and the Amaze fits the bill...and so far from googling, I've not foun any "serious" recurrent problems...
On a slightly different topic, but still sort of related (!) can anyone tell me if the Amaze 4g unit will work in Australia (I know there is no 4g here yet, but its coming next year apparently)?
I still say sensation because if development but amaze is picking up so for the more ram but mostly camera sensor maybe amaze.
Sorry. Guess I didn't help at all lol

I came from a Sensation and sometimes I rather miss it., because of the dev community. It is a solid phone that looks good and has the right size weight and thickness. (only if you get the ones without the dust in the glass).
I upgraded to an amaze because of the camera, dedicated video and camera buttons, NFC, larger memory, built in 16gb and also better front facing camera. At this point I like it a lot. The phone works well and the pictures are an improcement, (more details in low light).
IMO the screen seems to be more vivid and brighter than the sensation, even tho they say it is the same screen.
I am just waiting for the Amaze dev community to grow and this will be even better than the sensation. (bad timing for the Amaze community cuz of waiting on ICS, dev doesn't want to put too much time into and older build when ICS is coming in a moth or so.

I had both as well as the Inspire 4G and the G2 and I would say the Amaze is the best phone I've ever used hands down. Just like all phones, development takes time but it is progressing at the same pace as anything else I think. I was happy with my Sensation but the Amaze is just so much better.
As a totally happy and satisfied user of a rooted glacier, would I notice any substantial improvement in just the overall experience of using the phone?
The only major plus I see is the larger screen in terms of real tangible differences that I would notice immediately.
Are there any "must have" features that the amaze would deliver that the average user would notice and benefit from?
Wow cool to know this because I went to tmo amd I WAS going to buy the sensation but I decided to get the amaze. I bought it full price,

Welcome fellow Ruby user. For the extra $29, you have at least future proofed your phone for an extra 3-6 months with the extra stuff that the Sensation doesn't have.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a former Sensation user and love it. But the Amaze has more RAM, better camera (backlit illuminated), better front cam 2mp, dedicated camera button and video button, louder speaker, NFC, faster CPU out of the box (even tho the Sensation is underclocked with the same chip), larger battery (but doesn't last as long), and IMO a brighter and clearer screen (even tho it's supposedly the same screen; maybe I got a better batch this time).
Enjoy it.
So initial impression from sensation was that this amaze is definetly bigger. Couple hours later and I'm already used to it and love it.
Camera buttons are awesome.
Stock for stock it destroys the sensation.
I'm a very happy guy right now

TBH, you have [legally] 18 month software support. Even further, you get a PHENOMENAL camera and 4g support. The Amaze will have much coming to it over the next 18 months.

I like that the phone has no shutter lag (supposedly), and will let you take photos while videoing. I also like the screen size, along with the resolution. In the reviews, people always seem to comment on how awesome the screen looks, so I am really looking forward to that. NFC sounds cool too.

Im excited about the camera as well. Looks like good quality (from samples ive seen) and no shutter lag. Just an overall fun camera.apk
I hate AMOLED displays for the viewing angles and hue, so I returned the E4GT and didn't even bother with the GNex. I refuse to upgrade to a phone that has less than a 4.5" screen. (Spoiled). That said, assuming the camera is on par with the E4GT, what I'm looking forward to the most is the camera. My son is very active these days and I have a daughter on the way, so being able to get good pics of them whenever and wherever is a big deal to me, and let's face it, the OG EVO camera has always sucked. Quick shutter speed, high aperture, wide angle, BSI sensor, dedicated imaging processor, stills during video capture, dedicated camera button. Hell, even as a gimmick feature, the slow motion recording sounds fun.
The camera easily, after playing with the One X's camera , I look forward to it.
XDA Since 2007...
I'm in for the faster cpu, larger screen, and more memory. Although I have all animations turned off, the original evo is lacking in the cpu dept.
I chose this over the One X and SGS3 because of the dedicated camera button, kickstand, micro sd card, great screen, and slim profile... coming from the original EVO 4G. But... if i had to pick one.... the camera button. Why doesn't everyone have this?

Yeah, other than the pre-order drama, I am really excited to use the camera button. I didn't have an EVO 3D and I have been taking more and more photography lately with my EVO 4G. Can't wait to see how the camera button affects this new hobby of mine lol.
Camera was the big one for me. Honorable mention goes to the screen, camera button (wasn't a fan of the round one on the E3D), slimness, and KICKSTAND!!!!

Yes, hit the shutter button and the camera app opens. Not when it's locked though.
The camera button is the big feature? Has no one ever had this before? I know my EVO 3D, does, but it isn't new to that device. The PPC-6800 had it back in 2007 and I think my PPC-6700 did too. The Evo 4G is about the only phone I think I've had recently that didn't have the button. It is like they were trying to mimic Apple too much.
The Nexus s 4g, G2, HTC Hero, Galaxy Nexus, T-bolt all phones I had. None had a camera button. I had a ppc-6700 too but I wasn't trying to take pictured with that. The camera was horrible. Oh I had a EvO too.

About a month ago I switched from at&t post paid to tmobile prepaid $30 a month plan. The phone works on tmobile after I got the unlock code from at&t, but I only get HSPA+ in certain areas, the majority of the time I'm stuck on EDGE.
I'd like to get a phone around $100-$130 used/new/refurb that is comparable to the Atrix 4g(dual core, dual cameras, 512mb-1gb ram, 16gb+ storage) but with the ability to use t mobiles 1700/2100mhz bands. Having ICS or JB would be a plus.
I would say the G2X probablly... Specs are very very similar to the atrix. Also it seems there's some good development work going on over in their forum.
Edit: actually the HTC amaze might be an even better option.

HTC Amaze 4g and S2X are very similar, same processor, same amount of ram, onboard storage, however HTC Amaze has a smaller higher resolution screen at 256 ppi and 4.3 inches vs 208 ppi and 4.5 inches. HTC Amaze is heavier though, so it really comes down to samsung vs HTC and screen vs size/weight. I believe S2X has the more active development community however the HTC Amaze's is still alive too.

Do NOT get the G2x. I promise you'll be disappointed. It's buggy, has no working ICS, and poor battery life. Very bad phone. The Amaze, the Sensation, and the Galaxy S2 are really your best bets. Sensation has great support, but all three are good choices. The Amaze is probably the best of the three
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda app-developers app
I have worked with three of these phones (Atrix, LG2X & Amaze) and would say that the Amaze 4G is the better option. The G2X looks great on paper but does not perform well and any rom I installed had random reboots.
The Amaze has a lot of rom choices and also feels similar to the Atrix; rounded corners and the soft buttons.
You could also try and find the Atrix HD for cheap as it works on t-mobile with LTE and all.
