Camera resolution question - HTC Rezound

I took a bunch of pics and uploaded them to CVS.com so i could make my Xmas cards. When I uploaded them it saidow resolution. This is an 8mp camer, and so is my regular camera. Why the difference in resolution? Any ideas how to fix it so that I can use my camera pics for my Xmas cards? Anyone know how to adjust the resolution on the pics I have already taken with my phone so they can be uploaded to make cards?
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my HTC Rezound

8MP isn't low resolution by any means... what possibly happened is the pictures were shrunk before uploading, think of MMS messages, large pictures are shrunk when sent. i'd check the uploaded pics details and filesize if possible. maybe copy from phone to pc first.

It worked! I transferred the picto my computer and the xmas cards are being printed as we speak.
Thanks again!

[Q] Importing photos from ipad

Hallo
I have an ipad, and using my HD2 to take photos. I am using ipad camera connection kit to import my photos from the HD2 to my ipad and now I have som strange problem.
I have tried importing photos from a HTC Desire to see if I get the same result but when i use the Desire it works.
My problem is, When I importimg photos that is 3 or 5 mb the photos get mirrored in the ipad. When I import photos that is 2 mb the photo is fine.
I have made a hard reset but gets the same result. This morning I uppgraded to 1.66 and then the phots got mirrored AND upside down. Downgraded to 1.48 and now the photos are mirrored not upside down. I thought that there was a problem with the ipad but When I importet photos from HTC desire the photos are fine.
Any suggestion how I solve this problem?
Regards
Hans
I don't have the camera connection kit so I can't comment on that part but I transfer my photos from my HD2 to my iPad using Dropbox's website and their iPad app to get them onto the iPad.
So far not had any issues with doing it that way.
Hi
I want my pictures to be fold like events/ dates in my Ipad. Is this possible with dropbox? Or do the photos just" beeing saved"
The strange thing is if I first put the photos on my PC, and then using Itunes to get them on my ipad, then the photos look ok. They aren't mirrored

You can save the photos from the dropbox app to the iPad itself, I can recommend Flipboard though if you want to view things in a 'book' style on the iPad...it uses twitter feeds and is really cool.
You can find info here: http://www.flipboard.com/
But this is a site for XDA/WM/Android devices and discussions about our iPads are probably frowned upon.

HQ Camera mod port 40mbps video recording

I just came to the EVOLTE from my htc sensation. On the sensation, a developer had made a hack for the camera, that allowed it to record at 40 megabytes per second. I'm not sure what the EVOLTE records at, but I know that the video quality coming out of my sensation with this hack was much better than with my evo. Is it possible to be able to port this mod to the evo?

Look on youtube for "sensation 40 mbps" and you can see the amazing video quality that it made the camera have.

That looks pretty slick. I too would be interested in trying this out.
pm SteelH and ask him
I say about 30 is the sweet spot. 40 could be a little to big of a file. Right now in low light its around 6-7 and in nice lit up room at around 10-11 at 1080p. Using camera ics in the play store brings the bit rate to double the stock HTC camera app when set to 2x.

Check out this comparison.

Other than our EVO is recording in low bitrate. But I like it better than the gs3. Gs3 to ME seem to over expose it a lot where as some part of the building is all wash out, as well as the brick street. Our EVO could be a little blurry but still look better especially the indoor shot. Check out the video and see what you think. Now with a mod like raising the bitrate it will definitely show what this EVO New camera is all about.

i asked steelh... convo:
[1:16pm] ticklemepinks: SteelH: could this somehow get ported to us http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1533238 ?

[1:17pm] SteelH: other than increased bitrates?
[1:18pm] ticklemepinks: records at 40 mbps
[1:18pm] SteelH: yeah thats increased bitrate
[1:18pm] SteelH: likely an xml edit
[1:18pm] ticklemepinks: yeah that lol
[1:18pm] SteelH: IIRC
[1:18pm] ticklemepinks: could u figure it out, i know u could if anyone can lol
[1:19pm] SteelH: i have little time these days
[1:19pm] SteelH: ill try and look at it thursday perhaps
[1:19pm] SteelH: *if i finish with my own phone
[1:20pm] ticklemepinks: lol ok thanks
[1:21pm] SteelH: yea it looks fairly simple actually
[1:21pm] SteelH: stock is 12mbps
[1:21pm] SteelH: <Video codec="h264"
[1:21pm] SteelH: bitRate="12000000"
[1:22pm] SteelH: ill need to test it out first though
cant we just change that little 12 to a 40 and be done with it? lol
uhhhh-mazing!!
would love to see the LTE's 30-40mbps videos.
gotta be beautiful.
Guys. I didnt take the time (yet) to look at the file posted, but I'm pretty sure It's system/etc/mediaprofiles.xml
I know you just change the values. Just replicate it. I removed compression on mine yesterday, but kinda looked more grainy.
Check Me Out On The Google Play Store!!!

Glad to see so many peeps on this. It really made a world of difference. These small image sensors are very susceptible to noise, so modifying anything with its light gathering ability will make it noisy, But this mod if seems affects more of the post-sensor hardware's abilities and therefore should not significantly effect noise or distortion. If anything, it will remove that "wobble" effect when you move the camera due to increased bit rate.

Fixed your typo Sorry, it's the ocd cs guy in me lol.
But I had a question since my Evo hasn't come yet. Does it save videos on internal or sd card? And can you alternate between the two easily?

You can switch between phone storage and the sd card in the camera settings.
Just changed the values with rom toolbox which backs up the current XML settings. The wobble effect is gone. I can upload 2 test videos later tonight to YouTube to decide for yourselves.

Please do.
I just made the changes tonight but won't really have anything interesting to record till next weekend.
This was with old settings - not a whole lot of wobble to be seen. I was actually fairly impressed. Take that, go pro!

My experience: I used Rom Toolbox Pro to edit the media_profiles.xml file. I changed the max bitrates on 1080p and 720p from "12000000" to "40000000", the min bitrates to "12000000", bumped the framerate to min30/max60 (just wishing) and the max audio bitrates from "96000" to "160000". Saved the XML, rebooted the phone. Recorded two 1 minute videos (one at 720p, the other at 1080p). Moved the files to my desktop and used GSpot to get the video information and the video bitrate was around 9700kbits/s and the audio bitrate was 96000 and the framerate was 23fps. Therefore, I believe that manually editing the XML does not actually change anything or the framerate changes I made negated the bitrate changes. I may try lowering the max to 20MBits tomorrow for more testing. I'm running freEVO 1.1.
So this definitely doesn't work then?

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Just give the community awhile to either make it work or "trial-and-error" it to work. Patience is a virtue!
I will say that increasing the bitrates and framerates decreased the "wobble" or screen tearing that the stock settings have. At least it's a move in the right direction.

Dont thank me, thank OP in THIS THREAD
Thanks, I do have one question, haven't looked yet but thought I would just ask. How do you use the whole picture instead of the phone trying to crop it? I included a pic for reference. It just seems like it cuts the quality of the picture.
The only resolution size that will use the entire picture without the phone cropping parts of it is 2160x1920.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
you could also flip to vertical
I've been mix-matching finds on wallbase
it's not specifically a phone site...
but the selection is hard to beat and it highlights the resolutions before full viewing!
And thanks for listing the 2160x1920 trick!
That's handy to know~

Pictures taking up a lot of space

Hey guys I have no idea how but it says my pictures are taking up to 2 gigs of space. Is this how it is for everyone else? The funny thing is all my photos are on my external SD card.
Sent from my Galaxy S4
Sounds like some app you have installed on your phone is using the internal memory for its photo storage...mines at just under 1GB....do you have any photo apps on your phone?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
I have a few but I wouldn't it say when I'm looking at my list of apps in order of largest sized apps? When I do that it says my gallery takes up like 800 mb

That's a difficult question to answer without knowing how many pictures you have.
Most of my pictures run in the 3-5 MB range. 150 pictures would be about 800 MB.
Hm, weird all my photos except for maybe 50 are on my external sd card. It's no big deal I guess, I still have like 2 gigs of internal memory left.
You could try clearing the data in gallery and photo editor. Be sure to back up any pics you don't want to lose.

The guy says, no SD slot? In Gsmarena says the oposite, what is true?
I heard him say Adaptable Storage in the earlier part of the video, which is a feature that I think came with Nougat (maybe MM?) where you could combine your Internal Storage with a micro SD into one larger storage space. The downside being SD is generally slower, so all storage my act a bit more sluggish, but at least you shouldn't have to worry about running out of internal space. I', pretty sure that GSMarena is correct, because the Tray slot on the demo unit I saw at Tmo yesterday takes up what looks like 1/3 of the side of the phone. I interpreted that as it's tray is side by side for SD and nano-Sim.
Does anyone know if the US version get the headphones too? I know the US sometimes doesn't get the add-ons in the box, but another pair of what look like LG Quadbeats would be nice!
Edit.. found my answer, Google is your fiend.

I said it has SD card expandable but the SD card can't be used as adoptable storage
I also have thé corean version and am a bit disapointed with the camera... it is like impossible to shoot moving subjects (kids) when inside my house , all the pics turn blurry. You see the same on your side ?
Nice one, I'm soo damn tempted to pick this one up
