[Q] Force clockwise rotation for apps - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone aware of a way to force apps to rotate clockwise (270 degrees) when in landscape?
Most games automatically rotate the screen counter-clockwise and when holding the phone my hands tend to muffle the speaker and block the light sensor, resulting in lowered screen brightness.
I've been searching around and there doesn't appear to be an app that can regulate which direction of landscape an app runs in. I'm sure other people have run into this issue when playing games, it feels like the light sensor and speaker were poorly placed if this is the only orientation the phone will play games in

I have the same problem. Most app are turning the landscape mode on the wrong side of the Galaxy S2: the speaker and light sensor are covered by your fingers resulting is little sound and little backlight.

[Q] Orientation wackiness

Noticed that in at least a couple of apps I installed last night (Words with Friends was one) that when it runs, it forces a portrait orientation that is bizarre. If your typical Portrait is a quarter-turn clockwise from Landscape with the power switch at top left, then this portrait is completely upside down from that, so that your power button would be on the bottom. There was at least one more that did this, perhaps Waze(?) but just wondered if there was a setting to unlock the accelerometer on apps like this...once it starts, it doesn't matter what direction you spin the tablet.
TIA

[Q] Force counter-clockwise landscape mode on app

I run dailyroads voyager as dashcam. My sgs2 is seated in the carholder in the left corner of the front window, allowing the cables to be neatly stuffed away behind my doorrubbers.
But: this means I can only rotate the phone counter-clockwise. This is not supported by dailyroads voyager (or any other dashcam-app). They'll just display clockwise landscape, rendering the buttons etcetera upsidedown...
Is there any way to force counter clockwise? I read about it being implemented in some custom rom for another phone...

Anybody knows how to force counter-clockwise landscape?
I do hope someone replies here because I'd like the same thing. When I play games or hold the phone in landscape, my fingers usually end up covering the speaker. Forcing a counter-clockwise landscape orientation would be great. To the OP, I've looked around myself and haven't found anything.

Found it mentioned in Cyanogenmod... It is on it's way for the SGS2, so maybe if we wait just a little bit longer we can finally rotate counterclockwise (or left landscape versus right landscape, or 270 degrees, or whatever people call it).
Just can't be that hard, now can I it? Really no-one with an easy solution here?
Actually I would like to have 90 degrees landscape, I have by default 270 degrees rotation. This is annoyng because when I play games light sensor is in bottom left corrner. I put my finger over the light sensor and screen goes dark becasue my phone thinks that it is in the dark area. I don't know if I remember correctly but in the first run wizard it was set up. But I don't know where to change it now.
That's exactly what we want too... You're talking about the same

Flip screen opposite way when playing games?

Is there a way to flip the screen when playing games in landscape, because when playing I find that I cover the phone speaker.
yes, rotation control apps will do that

[Q] Screen Rotation during Games

I don't believe I've seen this addressed but if so, my apologies.
I'm having an issue typically with games in landscape mode. The screen will invert and when I rotate the tablet 180 degrees to get it right, it'll immediately rotate and flip upside-down again. I've played with preventing auto rotation and forcing it to only use landscape, but it still gives me issues. This is with games in both the stock Kindle OS as well as with a separate launcher in the flashable GAPPS environment.
Anyone else having this issue or have a fix?
Thanks
Actually just saw this being talked about in the "[ROM] thor-gapps-rom" discussion under the development forum.

Try "Smart Rotator" app, and/or lock the screen orientation using the notification toolbar BEFORE you run the game.

Locking the screen by the notification bar does not work in some cases.
Best way is to use an app called ADAPTIVE ROTATION LOCK, it has an adaptive mode whenever the screen change the orientation, a small button appears and the screen orientation only changes when you hit the button or else it will go away.
The app has a pro version in which allow you to set the default orientation PER APP, I set all my games to Landscape and it works flawlessly.

Orientation not working

I think I must have dropped my phone sometime and ruined the orientation sensor. When I open my camera, it is stuck in panoramic orientation. Toggling screen rotation has no effect whatsoever. On normal home screen, its set at portait and wont rotate. I've download apps that tell you about your sensors such as Android Sensor Box, and it shows that the sensors not responding whether i tilt or shake my phone. Anyone else heard of a problem like this?
