the Android Market is yet again receiving another noticeable one, now rendering the version at 3.4.4. So what’s new? While we’re still exploring all the new features of the update, some quick differences stand out. One such improvement is the overall speed of the application. It’s definitely faster than it was before as well as being smooth and crisp during navigation. Another update includes a setting for the auto-adding of widgets to your home screen. And note “widgets” not “app icons’ which appears to be in place of “auto-add shortcuts”. It’s a tad confusing in my opinion but as always, Google often has a method to the madness. According to a member over at Android Police, there is a point to be made:
As ZZ points out, “I think it’s because in ICS, what used to be known as ‘Shortcuts’ are now simply 1×1 widgets. If you notice ‘old’ shortcuts like Direct dial, etc. now live in the Widget folder. This change is simply for consistency moving forward.”
This explanation makes sense, though Google could have been smarter about the naming convention for devices that don’t yet have Ice Cream Sandwich.
Thanks updated now.

Just download the apk, from the link or attachment. and install it.
EDIT: If you are having problems, restart your phone, go to settings> applications>check "Unknown sources" and try to install the apk. This market version does not require root access..
Thanks! updated now.
Any notice anything else new with this update? Besides what was posted earlier?

Thanks installed it on the Ice Creamed Rom didnt work for me wouldnt let me download anything. Downgraded back to CM and it works like a charm thanks alot!
There's a way to make it work. Check the Q and A section I think

Yea ,
I have been looking but what is weird that it only happens to me on the ICS Glacier Rom but not on Cynagemod rom. The Market opens and I can search but when I go to download it goes likes its going to download but stays on trying to download for ever and never downloads.
Updating now! Thanks!
thanks for this

Yes, the brand new Market apk that I found on the general apps and games forums is working
It's quite nice I must say (lolWP7ui)
Just install as a normal app.
Make a backup of the original first via Titanium backup just in case!
It is a bit laggy at times though :/
I downloaded the new market this morning from the Samsung Galaxy S2 (I move to that phone in August.) forum and it works good. Like you say, a little laggy, but looks so much better.
I like this.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I usually choose speed over polished GUI. Not this time though.
yes works well looks very nice
I'm probably gonna switch back to the old one...
It's way to laggy q_q
Agreed, looks nice but to laggy on my wildfire however on my Galaxy tab it is fine so good work google! I do like the flicking to switch between different categories similar to the google+ app
Market Looks Gr8...
It looks very nice, and it works fine.
Thanks!
Old (2.3.6) Market for those of you who want to downgrade and didn't make a backup.
(extracted from Ruymanca v7.2 system/app)
I don't seem to have any lag (compared with a Nexus S) unless the images are still loading.
Well yes, that's true, but I still prefer speed over eye candy :/
Link is offline. Can anyone upload it on xda?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Thank you for that, uploaded as attachment.
@nejc121
Is your version comes from WF (Sense - auto update) or just copied from another source and you did not know at what resolution is? I installed from the other site and works terrible, maybe if we have apk from automatic updates it will work better?
It came from another source.
And I don't think the WF will ever get this market....
It would lag too much.
It is far to laggy and fc every time. I used it. Links good when it worked so went back to old one thanks for the uploaded

Not necessary. Even backup of old one is not necessary.
You can just uninstall the updates for market to get back to the original one anytime.
[Thinking everyone will be flashing the newer market as installing from apk file, and not added to the customrom.zip and flashed].
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Seriously, why is everyone saying this is laggy? Once the images have loaded maybe 4 seconds at the most the market is smooth. Are you not overclocked? I would like to see the effects with JIT enabled too, however I am using a sense based ROM (wilpuzzle).
Don't seem to have any lag loving the new market
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA Premium App
Well I like it! It`s better than the old one. Not as laggy as you said.
OK found these new themed Android Markets Version 3.1.3 (newest version)
Didn't make this but though I would post a link! Thanks to who ever did theme these! Well, enjoy!!
http://www.apktop.com/android-market-3-1-3-with-7-themes.html
Current Version:3.1.3
Requires a Rooted Device size:3.2MB V3.1.3 update: Adds +1 For Apps And Games, Pin Number For Purchases, And More! New Android Market / Adds +1 For Apps And Games. Pin Number For Purchases And More! should work for all devices. You do need to enable Unknown Sources in Settings-> Applications.)
There is a brand-new settings menu, as well as click-to-read explanations of app per missions (not developer customizable, unfortunately). There is also a brand-new Market icon to spruce things up. Oh, and did we mention you can now use a custom PIN for purchases on your phone, instead of leaving your Google
Checkout wide open for anyone that picks up your device?
If you have kids, or your phone is stolen, this is one awesome feature to have and really, it makes a lot of sense. You can get the new Market .apk here, root access is not required. but you will need Unknown Sources enabled in the Settings -> Applications menu to install it.

Try using the flashable version. Sometimes there is a problem replacing the market provided with whatever rom you use. I usually have to use that method with my vibrant!

That worked perfectly.
The Ice cream Sandwich has a really mind blowing UI, Google tried to modify almost all system apps.
Here is some original app collections, which really works for Gingerbread & other older versions.
The Apps Collections
Android Market 3.2.0
Google Music 4.0.1
Google Maps 5.11.0
Street View 1.7.0.4
Google+ 2.0.0
Just install like a normal app. Will be updated as soon as more apps available.
Note : There may be updated versions of the apps listed, but this is just a collection from Galaxy Nexus.

don't know if anyone else has run into this with Maps 5.10.2, had to uninstall update back to 5.10.1. but the Navigation in the newest version only shows an overhead view instead of from behind like any other nav system. makes it a real PITA as a trucker.
google+ 2.0
I had issues with the Google + 2.0 causing my contacts to force close and another force close in the core, I removed it and all is normal again...... it might not happen to everyone but I thought i would share !!!!!

thanks for the heads up, 5.11 fixed my issues with 5.10.2
Google+ causes my contacts app to force close when I try to add/edit a contact. Uninstalling it solved the problem. (Not sure if it's just this version doing it)
Is the google maps constantly running in the background like the older versions I still have the 4.7 version cause I recall that was the last version that would not start up on it's own and start running the backgroung.

After reading this i went and checked my market and it was 3.3.12. It either update is self or i did it.
Tried a few different different apk's for sirius radio. They all installed but froze at the update screen. Installed from the sirius web site but said not compatible. Using the web based version is cumbersome and not convenient. Any other options to listen to sirius on the flyer?
The APk from my phone worked
What's the version number of the working apk?
The Sirius XM app does not work with Honeycomb on any device if that's what you mean. It's not unique to the Flyer. Sirius needs a swift kick in the development a_$$. They have not updated their app in over a year.
Not running honeycomb. Tried 3 different apk's and none seem to work on the default flyer.
Works for me on stock hc

I'm having the same problem as Big O. I'm rooted, on stock GB. Copied the apk from my phone. It installs and starts fine, but after the initial log in it doesn't get past the screen where it's updating the app on first use. It doesn't lock or become non-responsive since I can tap the back button and exit, it just doesn't finish updating.
If you have it, maybe a Titanium restore of the app with data would cause it to bypass the update?
Complete bull****. It works on my galaxy nexus (ice cream sandwich) and my all of my Gingerbread phones but nothing on my honey comb devices. BABABOOEY!

Awesome! Congrats! Haven't even looked at the Rom yet but something you may want to learn is adding the quick settings to the drop down menu. That was one yor my favorite features on my vivid. Half of the tab was notifications other half you could quickly change Wi-Fi bt plane mode etc.

It's fantastic, thanks man.
"AOSP like" meaning it still has sense somehow? The "about" screenshot makes it seem like sense still exists in some capacity on the phone, but perhaps that's just where we're at ROM-wise right now. I suppose I can answer my own darn question by flashing this tomorrow.

It is based off the original ROM. I removed many of the sense files The framework still has all the Sense info. So yeah. The launcher is what gives it the AOSP look style. Try it out! I hope yot like it!
Found a small bug or issue ..I can send text just fine but I can't attach a mms file from my gallery. When I click on gallery it goes nowhere..I can only attach a picture if I take it from the messaging app. Hope this made sense..
running this now, i deleted the google search widget and there was no "X" symbol to delete but it seems it only happened once, looking for other issues, will report later if i find more...
Also, I cannot click on any hyperlink in the messaging app. Anytime I do the app crashes. I've tried clicking on hyperlinks in emails and they work just fine..only issue is with the messaging app as of now.

I did remove Google Voice Search. There may have been something with it or that I may have missed if it shows it is installed. Uninstall it and reinstall it from the market. That should work for you. Remember, this is supposed to be at the bare minimum.
