What is the strenghts and weaknesses of these newer capacitive versions of this 7c compared to gen8 devices ? Apart from the obvious facts like missing camera and hdmi
What's the screen responsiveness and speed, screen quality etc. Is the flash working on web in newer firmwares ?
v3 is told to have 512mb ram and up to 1.2ghz so on paper looks interesting at this price tag

Not sure about which one is the best, but I ordered the Ainol Novo7 Elf about a week ago.
Mostly the same specs, but it has 1GB of RAM and a 1024x600 display.

Hi i'm deciding between these 2. How is the ainol performing? Or should I get the viewpad 7e?
It's a shame none of these have bluetooth thus can't use a dual shock 3/sixaxis on it.
Its pretty good. ICS launchers are a bit laggy on it, but not too much. On slatedroid there's a ROM that is based off the stock one, but cleaned out of the Chinese apps and has some extra tweaks and has the market with a mmodified build.prop so you get more apps. (Fools the market into thinking the Elf is a galaxy tab 7)
3D games work like a charm on it though

After reading a lot of "reviews", I'm sold on it. The ainol has the mips processor so most programs will not work with for they are written in the arm architecture. Since hyundai hasn't have an official website and I can't find decent information on how to root or update and put google market on it. I'm still thinking on purchasing it
The Novo7 Paladin has a MIPS processor, the Elf is using the same one as the Hyundai (Allwinner A10)
I'm looking for hardware device on what compact device to hook up to my HDTV for turning it into a media center primarily and a light PC otherwise.
I'm interested in something like the RK3066 because it seems to have decent performance compared to the older single core devices.
Things it needs to do:
- run XBMC, stream media from fileserver via wifi
- stream another display to it in 1080p
So.. basically run Android or Linux effectively enough. This one supports bluetooth which seems useful for peripherals.
Things I might do with it:
- put linux and steam on it
- light browsing ans basic gaming
- hook a webcam to it
I've built full HTPCs before and I don't think I can do a compact one for anywhere near this price, even though it would be way more powerful. I also don't want a single purpose 'streaming box' solution that I can't replace the OS on. I see this as a cheaper way of doing 99% of what I want and I can still choose to replace it at anytime without feeling bad about it.
Any better performing options at this price, or similar options at lower price? Alternative hardware that I should be looking at?

if you have a bit of patience a few new ones based on rk3188 are launching that are a lot better, not only they are way faster (quad core, faster gpu, 2gb ram - around 18k antutu just as reference) , they solved the overheating and EM interferences that plagues rk3066 ones.

That's exactly what I wanted to know, since I'm not normally following the latest for this type of hardware. Do you know when these might be available?

Checks all the boxes (if you can find the dual sim for a decent price, the single SIM is certainly in your price range). Quad core. 1 GB of RAM. All the typical sensors. 4.5" screen. USB OTG. Plus it has a decent build quality vs a lot of budget oriented phones, as well as the software is already on 4.4.2 is a bonus. Tons of magazines and websites have reviewed the phone and all of them were thoroughly impressed with the overall package for the $$$. The camera would probably be the weak spot, but does fine in normal shots if you aren't expecting Nokia Lumia 1020 pictures or anything.
Well gsmarena.com is your friend just scan and scan or search...

Hey.
I recently purchased a Gigabyte Gsmart Akta A4 smartphone for 130 euros.
Gigabyte as a company is only known in PC market, but they're very trustworthy and they make quality PC parts.
And for 130 euros I've got:
Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU
Mali-450MP4 GPU
8GB of internal storage
1GB of ram
13 mp camera and 5 MP front camera,
A bit small resolution but good screen with good color reproduction (540 x 960).
At this price point I couldn't find any other phone which would match these specs (at least in Lithuania).
In AnTuTu it gets over 26K-27K score.
So I went through a lot of searches and I didn't find any custom roms or anything for it. It's like it's a non-existant phone.
How such a superb budget phone doesn't have any android developers around the globe? :[
Any news? Did you found something?
You most likely won't. Devices like that almost never get any development due to no kernel source and having minor specs. Most developers go after flag ship or near flash ship devices.
Hi all.
I'm having a Huawei Mediapad X1 (7d-501u) however after purchase its performance was really really poor and laggy. Updated the software to B011 version , still the same poor performance (maybe just a very bit less laggy) ... So am I the only one with this experience ? Are other people satisfied with this device performance? It should be packed with 2gb ram & 1.6 quad processor... Actually I was expecting a monster in my hands...
Please share your opinions.
Thanks.
The hardware advantages of the X1, are: its screen (size and quality) and its huge battery. Processor and other performance issues are not. Just compare to previous top phones like the oneplus one.
The X2 should correct this, but maybe too late....
Totally agree with you. The screen and battery are great, but compare the performance with even much inferior devices like my samsung tab 4 7.0" which i thought it was a slow device untill I bought the X1 !
I really miss my old note 8.0 it was liquid smooth...
