I hope this is not a repeat question as i didn't find a topic yet regarding it. I saw as part of the features of this unit an optical track pad. Anyone got it working? I'm not sure if i'm doing something wrong but i can't find any settings for it. I'm using the wifi 5.0 version. Thanks

Where did you see this?
Here. http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_wifi_5_0-3838.php
Look at the features under Display - Multitouch. It says optical trackpad
Sent from either my Nexus S or my YP-G70
Thats hilarious...... There is no optical trackpad built into the galaxy player. Not the usa version.
There are apps that allow you to use any touch screen device as a trackpad for your pc, plus they usually have a built in keyboard tonuse also.
but only via wifi and you have to run their app on the pc.
Perfect for htpc but anything else its kind dumb.
Funny to install it on a coworkers computer and mess with his mouse and keyboard but thats about it
Apple devices have had these apps for years and they do work butmreally only htpc pc will benefit.

Hi All,
My dream, one that I hope Android can help me fulfill is to hook my Galaxy S2 to a HDMI tv, fire up remote desktop and by using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, effectively have a full desktop available.
I am yet to try hooking up my phone to a tv as I am waiting for the MHL cable, but issues I envisage are the following:
1) When the screen is mirrored on the TV, the RDP program will not use the TVs display show 'full screen'. I have installed some RDP applications and they allow you to select the resolution so perhaps this will resolve the issue
2) Are there any RDP applications that allow bluetooth keyboard and mouse entry?
This is the hold grail for me!! Many a time I have stayed in a hotel for work or holiday and not had my laptop with me and wished for such a solution. Combine this with Wake On Lan and it's perfect!
I hope someone can help!
I can't believe i'm the only one that wants something like this to work!
RDP programs should just take any inputs from your phone and pass them onto the remote machine so BT kb/m should work ok IMO. Not sure about the mirroring but if it is fullscreen on the phone then maybe the MHL cable will upscale for the TV.

I'm waiting for the cable before I can try. In fact I would have had it by now but my girlfriend wants to buy some stuff for me for my bday and I believe she's already ordered it!
I should get mine tomorrow and I'll try it out.
Thanks! I'll check back on thread!
I've been doing some reading around and have found that BT keyboards and a mouse will work no problem.
I tried my MHL cable with the Android VNC viewer app and allows you to fit to screen but does not output at the tv's native res.
I have had similar experience with Remote RDP, it just mirrors the phone's native resolution. Hopefully this kind of thing will be supported soon, including internet browsing at 1080p.
Thanks guys, that sux!
I still haven't received my cable so I can't try for myself, but have you managed to make it work to a workable output on the TV?
would be interesting if we could port some parts from the atrix (webtop) over to this phone. I actually enjoyed that feature.

Perhaps, this kind of program may help to format the resolution?
Am I missing something? If you got a bt keyboard and bt mouse and the phone to tv hdmi, don't you have it all? Why would you need a remote desktop or vnc software?
Well, you'd have it all except for USB, which you might be able to live without.

If it could pump out the full Remote Desktop resolution then you will effectively have a full desktop through your phone rather than just have the phone's software capability.
Fair enough you can surf the web and play a video but what if I want to use full excel or Word, and multi-task like on a desktop.
I've still not received my cable so I don't know whether the browsing the net with the phone's browser is legible on a big screen.
In my earlier post I complete missed off the applications name - LCD Density - haven't tried and I don't know if it's compatible with the SGSII, but sounds like it changes the native resolution of the phone.
Try Splashtop as your vnc app it is the only one to my knowledge that can stream audio almost perfect and video pretty good over vnc and works like a charm on the atrix.
Did you find a good BT keyboard that works well with the Evo? I'd prefer one with a built in trackpad, as my goal is to use this on the road (ie, airports, trains, etc), and would like to have an all-in-one keyboard/mouse.
The one thing that I haven't had time to tinker with have been HDMI goggles that can give a virtual display. Has anyone tried these w/ the Evo's mini-HDMI output?
So I got my dock today and I've begun sampling remote desktop solutions including several RDP clients, VNC clients and Splashtop HD.
So far Splashtop seems to be the clear winner in terms of video performance, which is important to me as I'd like to at least be able to do simple things in games with high video demands (check the auction house in MMOs for example). The problem is that when I plug in a USB mouse or use the touchpad with Splashtop HD, there is no right click support- right click seems to be bound at some level to back in Android. I have not pulled the trigger yet on Remote RDP (paid) because I already own splashtop, so any comparison between the video on the two would be great, also.
So, questions:
How might it be possible to change the way android sees a right click from the mouse? If it were possible to make android see a right click as a random rarely used character like ` (tilde), there are ways to tell your desktop to interpret such a key as a right click (mousefighter comes to mind).
If the above proves impossible or unwieldy, is anything comparable in terms of video to splashtop?
I agree splashtop is pretty incredible from a video standpoint. You might try gotomypc? I believe they have an android app.
I didn't know about this right click issue, I've been using splashtop but I don't have my dock yet.
I'm sure there is a workaround...
TF201 | XDA Premium
i use pocketcloud. The free version only allows one config but i just reconfig when i need to. It has a nice mechism for different mouse and keyboard functions but i have not tried an actual mouse with it. Not sure how good video and stuff is since i just use it to admin servers. It does pass windows sounds though.
Plz post in the Q & A forum..
Pocketcloud Free does support right click from an external mouse Sadly, de paid pro doesn't I hope they will upgrade soon.
I don't know if this would theoretically help, but in ICS there's a setting to change the touchpad right-click to long press rather than back. Doesn't seem to work for me though...
I saw a video of a guy using his phone as a controller for World of Warcraft while running the game on his PC. He was essentially using the phone as a casting bar. I'm wondering what software (if any) is the best for that sort of thing. I basically need something that will act as a second monitor for my laptop and let me create custom buttons on that screen.
In fact, I don't even need the screen function. I just need a tap on my phone to register as a keypress on my laptop, and I need to be able to configure a grid of buttons. Being able to also give them custom icons world be ideal, but that might be too much to hope for. And connecting via bluetooth would also be smashing, but again probably just a dream.
Is there something out there like that, or was that video just a fabrication/test?
If I had to guess, that was proabably a WoW hack. Most likely, it was interfacing with his WoW account and not with his computer directly.
I dont play wow but apps like blueputdroid or other bluetooth keyboard like apps may work right i know that app has all the f keys and watnot??
Could he have been using Kainy?

Hi Zulu, I think I saw someone get a bit of hate for this suggestion with your Nexus Player LolliRock ROM but is it possible to install the Leanback Launcher onto this full Android ROM and emulate most of the Android TV experience? My reason would be that I want the freedom of the full Play Store app and settings but I do like the Android TV interface for use from my couch.
Also, presumably this requires an unlocked bootloader but not root because I've been struggling to root my 16 GB model.
Thanks for your work.

Sure that you can. The leanback launcher is a stupid launcher like others but just a little more stupid because not support mouse. But you can start Android TV apps also without leanback launcher. http://www.apkmirror.com/?s=leanback+launcher&post_type=apps_post
You can start the leanback launcher also like an app if you create a shortcut like in this video https://youtu.be/NMqz8e33oq8 So when you install Android TV apps, you can have all in one bad place that is the leanback launcher. Without create a shortcut for every Android TV app. ( 10 in total )
I prferer Googl Now Launcher.
People not understand that you need just more accessibility on apps and this depend from developers.
You can control an app with a mouse, dpad or controller if a developer want this.
After that you can use Android, Android TV or also Android NOOB.
One thing is sure, Android TV is limited on purpose and you can't have all apps from Google Play.
The 320 dpi in build.prop is not compatible with many beautiful apps also if you sideload.
Every standard app is better and faster than the leanback version. Try standard youtube and leanback youtube to understand.
For me the life is too short to waste time with directional keys. I never used a classic Smart TV for this reason and all my TV are Smart TV.
For this reason i like full Android.
You think that if Android TV was better than Android I lose most of my free time to build these firmware ? I'm not so stupid.
But do not worry i appreciate and respect the requests of all
To have Youtube at 1080p and up read this post
https://plus.google.com/+VideomapIt/posts/QiC1Pksvzaq
I suggest to read also the comments. to understand really what i think.
I am very tired of the forced closures made to defend the economic interests of a few.
Many of these closures are also passed off as security but are just violations of the rules for fair competition between companies.
I hope I am not overlooking something due to lack of sleep, but am I correct in saying the nvidia game controller that came with the box doesn't work in this rom? My box isn't recognizing the controller after flashing rom, gapps, and su
After reading a little closer I see it can be made to work if connected via usb, but I much rather have it work wireless since I use the box connected to a network cable and wireless network connection doesn't pose any interference for me. Is there a way to restore the wireless controller connection?

For the controller in wireless mode: ( wired works well )
Request it to Nvidia sayng:
Please Nvidia if you sell an hardware controller, why you not publish the drivers for Android, Windows and Linux like all other companies that sell an hardware controller ? Or explain how to add it in a custom firmware ? You publish also the source code, why not publish it as closed binaries like others parts proprietary ?
In the second post you can find an alternative to use the controller in wireless mode.
It work better than native wireless mode, everyone can compare also in Nvidia Grid. ( Grid is beautiful also with my bad adsl )
And don't forget that you can use also any other standard controller ( also a 5$ chinese controller ), because the voice search capability and audio routing is possible in this firmware in many ways. The smarter way to make voice search in google now ( the full google now ) is with a webcam attached or with a bluetooth headsets. It's smarter because you can do this without nothing in your hands. Just sayng: " OK Google " + videochats in hangout and more...
Unfortunally i can't solve this for now. The only one thing that not work, but not for my incompetence.
I don't want use bad words to explain better why this behaviour. But smart people can understand.
Has anyone tried this on a shield tablet? I would assume you ca get a close experience. Also are the Nvidia apps bundled in the rom(controller, grid, game stream)

I like this ROM, but I have come across a few things that might make me go back to stock. The problem with wireless game controller not working unless tethered to the device (Not zulu99's fault), and Doom 3 will no longer run. You start it and it immediately just goes back to the home screen without any error to reference. I downloaded the stock image and am still debating as to whether I want to go back to stock or not.. I didn't say it before and I should have, but thanks for all the time and effort you have invested in this ROM.

I'm not sure what is wrong, but I'll figure it out when I have had a little more time with the device. No worries

This firmware is for Shield Console, not for Shield Tablet.
Shield hub that have also grid inside can be downloaded directly from goole play.
for game stream i can work on the nvidia proprietary apk, but i tested Screen Stream Mirroring app and it work.
You can also record your gameplay with any app for screen recording so this is not a problem.

Forgive my confusion but isn't the point of this rom to mimic the shield console on other android devices? I have the tablet and want to add the android TV experience to it and immersive mode. Wouldn't flashing this Tom accomplish that?

No i ported full Android to Shield Console, because on Android TV you are in a walled garden and you can't have all apps from google play
In Android Tv you have also by default density to 320 dpi that is not good for standard apps.
If you like immersive mode you can simply use xposed framework.
Thanks for the clarification. With that said how can I get the android TV experience with Google now search on my tablet? Is it possible?

Thanks for sharing the Doom 3 problem. Yesterday after your words i had it working on my development build.
I will upload a new firmware version very soon that fix the problem.
New firmware version 1.4 updated in first post.
Compatibility with new games optimized for Tegra X1 like Doom 3
Improved performances
The keyboard cover is fun and all, but this is a problem to me, exists on both the tab s7 and my older tab s6. The keyboard does not act as an external keyboard (bluetooth/usb), rather acting like an input service managed by samsung.
What I meant is: some app can capture external keyboard input and make use of them, with or without elevated permissions(root user). With that being said, some apps can't be used without an external keyboard. What I'm aiming for here, is the possibility to use the keyboard cover for games that do not support keyboard input, using panda mouse pro for example. No matter what people say, I found it a very pleasant experience to play games using keyboard and mouse without touching the display, and I don't even play competitive games at all, not like android has much of those. Not all games support it, and even for games that do, very little effort to actually make it easy to use. Last year I bought a wireless tkl just to carry with me to uni so I can play games sometimes. It does help with typing as the tab s6 keyboard being very mushy. Now the tab s7 keyboard seems to improved, minus the *very weird* layout. I haven't tried to dig any deeper while using the tab s6, but now that I kinda like the new keyboard cover, I tried to see what I can do.
So far no luck, as the keyboard itself doesn't connect to the tablet using usb controller. lsusb returns nothing when I unplugged my dongle with usb devices while still keeping the keyboard connected. Being the nature of (?) a cut down linux distro, I can't find any useful package pre-loaded, nor can I find any repo that develops packages specifically for android in this sense. Magisk does help with some user porting packages like nano or sqlite, and there is busybox, but nothing actually helps.
Can someone tell me how the keyboard actually connects and be realized as an io device by the os itself, or is this just another uncrackable proprietary ****? Maybe once I get how the keyboard is connected, I could somehow redirect it to a virtual usb device.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
PS: I own a laptop, which is also portable, but since the tablet already fulfills much of my needs (eg having vscode on the go with linux deploy) I have no intention of using the laptop as my daily drive device and avoid myself all these hassles.
The keyboard is just a useless piece of plastic until you give it power. The 3 dots where it connects to the side of the tablet is your power source.
