DeSensify - HTC EVO 3D

Hi all,
I'm trying to create a SenseLess ROM for the EVO 3D starting from the Stock 1.20.401.8
My idea is to have a light stock rom with only a few changes.
I have started from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18919427
and used information from the good post of smoking1337 in the CDMA section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1209379
to remove the sense APKs.
I have then added a couple of APKs (Titanium Backup and ROMManager) in /data, goLauncher EX in /system/app and made the needed changes to the update_script.
Everything seems to work fine, the system starts correctly but as soon as I try to restore something from Titanium Backup the phone reboots. And it reboots often also from the Market when I install a new app.
So, at the end, the Rom is useless.
Probably I have removed something needed by the system or I need to make other changes.
Any suggestion ?
Ciao
Andrea

I'm back. I have solved.
The problem was due to the wrong permissions to the /data directory. I have changed the updater-script and now I have no more reboots.
The only rmaining issue is that when I receive a call, I have to unlock the phone before answering. This is due to the lack of the HTC Lockscreen application.
I'm trying to solve it and then, if someone is interested, I'll post the ROM. Any suggestion is welcome
Andrea

Did you try a custom lockscreen? like this one: https://market.android.com/details?...DEsImNvbS50ZXNsYWNvaWxzdy53aWRnZXRsb2NrZXIiXQ..

Yes, I did. I have installed WidgetLocker. But still, when the phone rings, the usual GB lockscreen appears and only after having unlocked the phone I can answer.
Ciao
Andrea

That error message usually means it cannot install because certain files that it wants to install are currently running and cannot be unloaded. Best thing to do is close any conflicting programs first and re-attempt the installation again.
What are you trying to install?
Also as XERO_Racer has said, you should keep all posts relevant to one ROM in the same thread!

2 Questions (MoDaCo 3.0)

Hello Guys,
I'm pretty new to all the Custom Rom things around here...
Yesterday I've installed the new MoDaCo 3.0 version for my hero, i had 2.3 or what so ever. I installed the rom, and then formatted my sd-card up to EXT4 via the adb tool. I'm sorry i can't remember if i first formatted or i first put on the new rom.
The thing is: in the List it says that Apps2SD is fully included in the update. I was not able to find the changes.... i tried it my self afterwards by installing the 2 files with a terminal, but the app2sd says its not working i should read the tutorial.(which i have) although it says 100mb space free now... and before the update all my progs filled up to 30mb.
So Q1: how do i install this version right?
and Q2: i still don't get any animations for my htc Clock (with the flipping pages) and i couldn't find any preferences. how do i get it to work? (and is there a prog where i can choose all my preferences, i get the feel i can't change all the things in the HTC-Preferences Dialog.
I Hope someone understands my problems ;-)
can you please state the exact error message from apps2sd?
it should work automatically on mcr. try to partition your sdcard again (btw i'd suggest ext2), then wipe and reflash mcr. that's it, the rest is taken care of. if you still think you have problems please search for it, there are numerous threads where i explained in details how you can check whether it is working or not.
as for q2: can also be covered by a search. in short: no animations any more.
thanks for the input, search actually did help me out for the clock problem ;-) (no possible on modaco hehe)
and I'll try the formatting and re-rom again, hopefully it works.
thx!
great place here

[Q] Installed OTA Update Last Night, But Want To Root Again - Need Advice!

I rooted my Thunderbolt about 10 days ago following instructions in this post:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/thu...unroot-windows-updated-5-20-w-mr1-update.html
I did that simply to gain access to the system folders to be able to change the fonts on my Thunderbolt, and to be able to remove bloatware. I had Busybox, Superuser and Titanium Backup applications installed on my phone, and I used Font Changer to change my Thunderbolt's fonts. I did NOT install any custom ROM's, as I actually like the stock HTC ROM.
My phone, however, was still suffering from VERY frequent reboots. When I discovered that Verizon released an OTA update last night, I checked for software updates and was rather surprised to find it offering me an update (I thought that because I was rooted, I wouldn't receive notifications of OTA updates - or, is that just if you install custom ROM's?), so I installed it. As I expected, I lost my root and the ability to use Font Changer to change my fonts. However, since installing the update (around 11:00 p.m. last night), I have yet to experience a single random reboot! Now, I've had as much as a week go by before without reboots, so it's too early to tell if this update helped or not, but most of the time it reboots multiple times in 1 day - including even right in the middle of calls!
So, my question is - how do I root again, or just gain access to the system folders, so that Font Changer, Titanium Backup, Superuser, etc. all work again, WITHOUT losing the update I downloaded last night? That update, at least so far, seems to have definitely helped my Thunderbolt!
Thanks,
Dennis
I just read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160374
Is that what I'm looking for?
Excuse me if I'm asking stupid questions, but I'm a noob when it comes to rooting!

Yes, it is, you'd have to go back to root again and then follow the directions in that post.
Next time, post in the right section.

First of all, people get really upset if you post questions like this in the development forum. Use the "general" or "questions and answer" threads.
Re-root like you did the first time you did it. Then come back to this "thunderbolt android development" forum and look for some topic dated July 8th RADIO leak (or something similar). Download that radio file (named PG05IMG.zip) directly to the SD card (not in a folder). Install it by turning off your phone completely, then hold the volume button down while turning your phone back on. Let go of both buttons when you see the white screen w/ skateboarding androids. Follow the instructions on the screen. When the phone starts up again you can use some file exploring program like astro, supermanager, root explorer etc to delete the PG05img.zip file.
Here is some advice next time don't install an ota update because you might not get lucky enough to find a way to root it right away

Thanks for the info - the way you said to install the radio is the way I had to install the update last night; the OTA process failed at some point, probably due to my being rooted.
I will post in the appropriate section next time - if a moderator wishes to move this to the appropriate forum, that would be much appreciated!

Removing Vibration icon on stock I3 rom

Please politely direct me if this topic has its own section already but I couldn't find it easily.
I know this has been asked and answered somewhere in this forum but things get buried in forums that end up many with many pages of different specific questions all piled together ie in the 2.3.5 topics......
I have a general idea about Odex and Deodex roms.
Now my stock rom is an odex rom from my understanding and theming generally doesn't work because of the technical reasons behind the difference betweeen odex and deodex roms.
But is there a way to remove the vibration icon without going to a deodex rom? I rooted my phone but it doesn't seem so useful with the stock rom apart from being able do full backups.... Oh and being able to change the overglow effect and crt effect which are minor things for me.
I came from a long history with windows mobile which involved down the custom rom and ported roms path since i got fed up with the stock experience.
But I'm not at that stage with Android and quite content with the stock samsung/google experience with independent apps seeming to fix any annoyances I have experienced so far....
There is a mod in sicopat's Rom thread that will remove it for you. Here is the direct link to the download http://www.multiupload.com/DRXS2HIPZ7
You will need cwm to flash the file. If you don't have cwm, you can also unzip the file and drop the systemUI.odex file into system/app manually using root explorer or something similar then reboot the phone
Thankyou. I will give that a shot!
Well using cwm to install said everything went fine but on reboot nothing had changed.
And I cleared both lots of cache. Even tried twice.
But manually extracting and copying the file worked.
Not sure why but at least it worked.
Thanks again.

Deleting "bloatware" Desire X ?

Hey all, I've tried several ways to delete some of the system apps like Google+, TuneIn,... up to cooking up roms based on stock in rom kitchen and so on... it seems like HTC has changed some things with this model because none of them worked.
If I just go with the stock rom and delete them, they invariably come back, like weed or something lol and if I use a "lite" rom made in rom kitchen, there's usually something else that breaks. Closest I've gotten is everything working, except Google Play giving me a 406 error if I try to download something.
What's even odder to me - remember I'm new to Android - is that freezing them using Titanium Backup or even the stock app manager does work and the OS works, without error. It's like HTC buried some software checks in the OS to make sure all stock apps are there, regardless of them actually running.
I followed these guidelines to know which apps to delete : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1532366. It's for the HTC Rezound, but many of the apps on there are on Desire X too.
Anyone have similar experiences ?
Well, i did it the way i explained in the AIO Toolkit Thread: here
i removed only the necessary stuff, everything's working great here, no errors, no bootloops.
Only issue was, that some sense widgets were missing, when they weren't deleted. I guess, there's some linking with all HTC stuff (maybe, don't know) and i deleted something wrong. Flashed everything again, now it's ok. :-|
