How to modify emergency call list? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I'm from Italy and I'm using a modified miui rom on my sgs2 device.
As in the title, I have a problem with emergency calls. My provider's customer service number is 119,which is a default emergency number in a lot of countries. I've read somewhere around the web this list of numbers is explicitated in build.prop file. So, I unpacked the rom, found the file and the code line I was interested in and deleted the 119 entry. Repacked the file, signed and flashed it. But no changes. I'm still being redirected to the standard emergency number of my country, I suppose.
How can I fix that?

Flash another ROM version, if this feature is important for you.
I recommend to save all contact phone numbers with the country code. If you are in a foreign country, it is much easier for you to call a contact instead of dialing the number in the wrong country and type the whole phone number manually into your dial pad with the leading country code.
Maybe XWLPG and XWLPI will show the contact's name after adding the country code to the phone number?!
im not in foreign country .. but my operator shows +98... in all incoming calls ! i havnt problem when i use GB or LP8 rom but in LPG and after that LPI my phone cant understand +98 is just country code and should show contact name!!
Try saving number with +98 as secondary contact number

its hard too edit 200 contacts !! so all u people have this problem ?! another way to solve it ?

[Q] ROM Custom for a SIII bought in south Korea ?

Hi everybody,
First let me Say that I am French, so excuse me in advance for my bad english...
I acquired a Samsung S3 bought in South Korea, model: SHV-E21OL/Version Android 4.0.4, LTE (and therefore compatible 3G/4G)
Back in France, I have inserted my micro SIM card sfr Telecom, perfect: internet ultra fluid 3G, incoming / outgoing calls ok, everything works except for two points:
- When I send a text message, it is written "address unknown" as the sender of the message. A bit annoying when you do not know who writes ...
- Despite a reconfiguration with services sfr telecom, no way to send / receive MMS.
I tried with another SIM card, nothing happens. But my SIM cardworks well for SMS and MMS in another phone. Then it is therefore a bug of the phone ...
You know how to fix this?
Samsung customer service pointed me to a authorized service center, but they tell me that before flashing my phone, I must sign a waiver in case of crash the phone making its use impossible and non-repairable. No thank you ...
In short, you'll have understood I am a bit stuck, and looking for a way to fix this bug.
Do you have a solution, a board, info? updates posted by Samsung France can they solve the problem? a compatible custom Rom
I am completely new to this, I read the procedures to reconfigure my phone, but the words wipe, roaming, etc. This is perfect Korean for me!
Thanks in advance to all who will be able to help me ! :good:
try changing your message center number . it could be the problem
I have the Korean 3g model but a lot of other people have the e210l (or k/s) in different countries. I have seen some talk about text message problems, read the posts and/or maybe somebody could help you out in the Korean model thread?

Go to p33k's link he gave.. dont panic, it's all cool lol
All you have to do is flash a custom ROM supported by Siyah and then flash the special kernel meant for your S3 which is located in p33k's link above

jay, you are not the only one. I am working for sam as their cust service officer and there is one Korean student bring to me and showed me this problem too. I am thinking that the only solution is to flash custom to it, because we took quite long trying to figure out what happens. Too bad I cant recommend this solution to the person. After you flashed, let me know whether it works. Thank you.

[Q] unlocked but branded O2, using Tesco sim

Sorry I'm another noob to android.
I have an unlocked but branded O2 GT-I9100, I am trying to use a Tesco sim, everything works apart from the mobile internet. I have manually set up the Tesco APN on numerous occaisions but still can't it. When I put an O2 sim in, everything works perfectly.! I have tried vodafone sim and it's the same as Tesco. It seems like the firmware is somehow blocking anything but O2 from accessing the data connection. Is there an easy soloution.? thanks
model : GT-I9100
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband version: I9100XXLPW
Kernal version: 3.0.15-I9100XWLD-CL524746 [email protected]#3
Build number: IML74K.XWLPD
Remove all APN's. Add only the Tesco APN, ensuring you choose 'default' as APN type. Reboot. Check to ensure the Tesco APN hasn't gone away after you've rebooted. Test.
If you've already done the above, I'm tipping the phone's locked (it does sound that way from the details in your post; you're having the same problem with two sims/different carriers).
O2 phones are meant to be unlocked anyhow....same as unbranded.
Can you confirm youve had the phone since new.
It shouldn't matter if the phone is locked or not as Tesco use o2s masts and so the phone won't know the difference
If voice calls work then presumably that proves the phone is unlocked and it is therefore most likely to be an APN settings issue?
I use a GiffGaff SIM in an unlocked SII GT-I9100 which operates in the same way as Tesco (both run as 'virtual operators' on the O2 network). Once the GiffGaff APN settings are applied the data connection works fine for me.
Maybe you can post the exact settings you're using for your Tesco APN configuration and someone can take a look at them.
Alternatively, are there any apps that help with APN settings? Tweakker, for example, claims to cover Tesco Mobile so might help. Note that there is a separate "Tweakker ICS APN Beta" for Android 4.x devices.

Thank You All for replying, I have fixed the problem. I have de-branded O2 from the phone and the APN is now working on all networks
using Odin3
Firmware: I9100XWKF1
Andriod Version: v4.0.3
By 'debranding' do you mean you flashed a different rom/CSC or simply removed all the guff/apps carriers put in their stock roms ?
Edit - Glad you got it sorted BTW

I Flashed the firmware and now it's like straight from the factory.. lol
Which firmware (I.E which carrier's stock rom or was it unbranded UK, or something else entirely ?) single file in PDA section of Odin or multi-part ? Reason I'm asking is if someone else has a similar problem, your solution might give them some clues as to how to fix it if we know exactly what you did.
This is what I did

I googled the problem, and found a website that de-brands, even tho I could probably find the software for free, I bought it (£9.99) and followed the instructions :
C:\Program Files (x86)\FoneFunShop i9100 Debrand Pack\Guide\I9100_Guide.html
Hope someone finds this useful

[Q] Carrier Settings

Hi Friends,
I'm form Argentina and using a Verizon versión of Galaxy S6 (SM-G920V) and since I got it, i've been facing some issues that I have been able to solve, but some of then I cannot do anywthing.
According to this, I´m starting to try to make my own ROM from Verizon Stock Tar file for Galaxy S6. I've already extract the files and decompile with DSIXDA.
I'd like to know if anybody can help me to know where de carrier settings are, for example. APN configuration, calling settings such as pre configured *611 to call customer service, voicemail settings, mmi codes, etc.
Thanks in advance and apologize my bad english.
regards.
Martin
