It does have 1 gb ram, that is the phones memory. The phone also provides 2 gb worth of app memory for the installation of your on-device apps. I'm sure that is what your looking at.
Find your ram usage by opening the built in Task Manager and your app memory by going to settings, SD and phone storage.

Edit
It stopped it was only when my battery was low? Hmm. Whatever.
MOD close this thread before I get more whining people posting. Seems like that's all this forum has turned into.

There used to be words in it, and now appears to have been deleted. This wasn't a hoax, was it?

I was over in the hardware hacking forums and came across a forum where this guy wanted to know if it was possible to upgrade his ram...I have a question..is there a ram hack for our device..you know our device has 512mb's of ram but the UI under settings>about phone says 420..I know the GPU uses that difference so is it possible that we can use a swap portion to increase the performance of our device?

If its for a tablet swapper root because it lets you create a swap file with more than 256mb, swapper2 only let 256mb max.
And you need root for both.

I was expecting the OP to come up with some reasonable explanation for this, as in some "breakthrough" discovery, although I suspect it is just a rather pathetic misuse of (everyone's) time.

It CLEARLY says on the LG website in the Specifications area for internal memory that out of the 32 GB storage that only 24 GB is for user memory.
Total Internal Memory 32GB (Up to 24 GB for User Memory)
