How can I make ICS create new ".odex" files?

Hello
I modded a few apks which also have .odex files. If I delete the .odex files the apk isn't shown in the app section. But of course those .odex files are old and belonged to the original app.
Is it possible to force ICS to create new .odex files? It doesn't seem to do so on boot.
I simply sent the new apks via bluetooh to my phone and then copied them to where they came from (/system/app).
Anybody have any idea how I can make ICS build new .odex files based on my new apks?
Any help would be much appreciated

[Q] Restore system app deodexed rom

Hello
I uninstalled the memo app, but I need it back
System /app contains 0kb. Apk files and. Odex files.
The Apk are shortcuts to /preload /symlink /system /app or something like that.
How do I restore the memo app so that it works?
Just putting the secmemo.apk into /system/app doesn't seem right since rom is deodexed
Please advice how to restore the app. I have the rom zip file to extract the files from just not sure how
would have been cool if this post would have gone somewhere. Looking for similar info.

Have a look here
Don't bother, the reference is no longer valid, but I may have found something - checking it out first.....
Sorry but I can't recommend what I found. There are many similar and better apps anyway.

[Q] Edit apk with ODEX file

Hi,
I have an apk that I'd like to edit, just some simple icon and xml changes. I have decompiled, edited and signed with apktool so I'm confident everything there is ok. Only problem is, it won't install.
The apk does have a odex file with it. Is it possible to edit this apk or am I wasting my time?

if it is system file than place it in system/app
and set permissions and reboot
Does that include the original odex file or should I just dump it after I've edited the apk?

it work only if you have deodex it
Hello, I am running into the same problem. I want to change a setting in an apk. But I'm confused with the odex file accompanied with it.
Can I unpack an apk, change it. Rebuild it and put it back?
Do I also have to unpack the odex file and rebuild it and put it back?
I can see a lot of information about apk editing. But I can't find tools to edit an Odex?
I think I'm also confused about the odex/deodex. I just googled everything about this subject and got the tools studioandroid, but it doesn't contain anything with editing odex files....
I hope someone can help me out!
Thanks!!
