Are there any roms that bypass the Bluetooth stack problems and allow connection of controllers to the phone? I have tried searching, but to no avail.

You can only connect HID BT devices (such as the wiimote) using the MIUI or AOSP ROMs... No other ROMs have support built in

I believe it only works on AOSP based roms. I've tried it on a couple of Sense roms and it didn't function.
