**Bootlooping Network Problem *FIX INSIDE* - HTC Rezound

A factory reset is NOT needed!!
---------------------------------------------
i decided to do a fresh restart of my phone so i poewred it down, and did a battery pull after the phone was completely off. turned it back on, gets to lock screen, i unlock......sits..loading...screen goes black, and whattya know, white HTC splash screen. a few times. it's bootlooping!
Basically, with the cover off, it stopped bootlooping..therefore, it was a NETWORK ISSUE.
EDIT* this WORKED! anyone who has this issue please do the following: (source http://www.droidforums.net/forum/htc-rezound/184994-rezound-stuck-boot-loop.html)
STEP 1: TAKE BATTERY COVER OFF. this will prevent the phone from trying to connect to the network.
*#*#4636#*#* Under phone info you will find that the network is factory set to WCDMA Preferred... I guess the SIM card decides sometime along the way that it doesn't like that much... Setting the network to CDMA EVDO/LTE - Auto completely corrects the problem
another poster said that after you do this, hit home, power down the phone, pull sim card out, put it back in, then reset it. i didn't do this; i just went back, put the battery cover on, it froze like usual, reset itself, and now it's working perfectly.
**UPDATE** A few people are saying that along with taking off their battery cover, they have to REMOVE THEIR SIM CARD AS WELL! i did not have to do this, but some people did. take that into consideration!
(brockeverly stated:
You may have to take your SIM out for this to work. I did even with the back off. Aside from that, this works fantastic.)
for some reason, this is what happens: under phone info, as it says, it will reset to WCDMA Preferred for NO reason whatsoever! this must have happened when i shut my phone down; other people are reporting that doing "reboot" does this frequently for them! this is the first time in my month of ownership i saw this happen, so this was new to me...but thankfully, we have a fix!

I use it to switch from "CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto" to "CDMA auto (PRL)". The CDMA auto setting doesn't seem to have the reboot problem, so you should be able to put it on that if you don't want 4G turned on all the time."

This happened to me also. Take out the battery, press and hold the volume down button and press and hold the power button. This gets you to the boot leader menu. Use the volume keys to move your selection up and down. Use the power button to select, I forgot if you select clear storage or factory reset. Best of luck.

thanks dude.
seems that right now, i can boot it with the back cover OFF.
once i put the back cover on, the phone FREEZES and then reboots itself.
has anyone seen this issue before?!

Hmm

So freezes once signal is involved? Hmm. Bad sim card? Faulty Hardware?
Sorry to hear about your problem and hope you get it fixed easily.
Good luck Bro.

This is exactly what happened to my first Rezound. I tried to reboot, but got stuck in a bootloop. The phone would boot normally with the battery cover off and stay functional until I put the cover back on. After that, it would start bootlooping again. I'm scared to even reboot this one because of this issue.

ppmp, read my first post! there's an EASY fix! it's because the phone sometimes switches network modes when you shut it down or reboot it on it's own....nobody knows why, but i guarantee your old phone was set to WCDMA when it should be set to CDMA/LTE Auto

If you use an LTE Toggle app it will get you to the same menu without having to remember codes.

For anyone interested, you can download this app and get straight into that config menu.

Had this happen while I was temp rooting Friday. Figured it was a problem with the tool... Factory reset fixed it, but I wish I would have seen this sooner.

has happened to me twice already. first time was the morning after i bought the phone, and the second was a couple weeks ago. both times i had to do a factory reset. NOT happy that it does this, and have expressed this to big red (like they care) for annotation purposes on my account.
good to know there is a fix. next time this happened, i was gonna jump ship for the GN. having doubts after seeing it for myself at the store tho...

personally, i think this should be a sticky....no, not because i'm the OP but because it's a problem a lot of us are seeing.

Agreed. I would have loved not to have done a factory reset

stickied thanks steve!
i was THIS close to doing a factory reset..this all happened at like 1am one night when i had to be up at 8 for work, and i was so mad lol..i was frantically searching for a solution..and thankfully one was found!

Hey jayochs... Looks like the link got messed up when you quoted me in your OP.

cool. thanks for the quote by the way

This seems to happen to me every time the phone dies and runs completely out of juice so for me, the best way to avoid it is just to not let the phone die.

really? interesting. my phone died COMPLETELY last night and thanfully when i turned her back on, she was fine.

i honestly think it is completely random. it happened to me again yesterday. all i did was reboot my phone 2 times in a row. i didn't even change anything or install anything... first reboot went fine, i immediately rebooted again and when it came back up, it started bootlooping.

My XDA has stopped turning on after a day :-(

I bought my xda in working condition a few days ago from somebody I know. It's a month old, and worked fine for a day. I left it on while I went out and when I got back it was off. I assumed the batteries were dead and placed it in the charger.
When I got back, it was still dead. It wouldn't turn on. I have not tried to flash or tamper with my device in any way...
Here's what i've discovered so far:
- Soft and hard resets do nothing.
- When in the cradle, the charge lights do not come on.
- Bootlogger works, so the screen is alright and there is power to the device.
- I don't quite understand the stylus in the sim card issue, and how it damages the device. Since it's been broken, I have put the stylus in and pressed down the switch (I was told to and even the woman in the O2 shop did it when i took it in! lol). But as far as I can tell the reason you're not meant to is because you can break the switch - however the phone will only go into bootlogger mode with the switch depressed (the sim card door closed) so I assume that means I haven't broken the switch in any way. Also, I didn't touch the switch before this trouble started.
- I can connect with my device via activesync and browse the windows folder, etc.
So as far as I can tell - it isn't the sim card slot switch, it isn't the screen, it isn't the cradle, it isn't the battery, and there is no problem as far as connecting with my computer.
But my device still won't turn on when I press the on/off switch and hard and soft resets have no effect.
Please help me/give me suggestions/tell me if it's truly french connectioned so i can go batter the guy I got it from for my money.
This phone cost me 2 months wages and I waited forever and drove 600 miles to get it. And it stopped working after a day. It's proper depressing lol.
Oh alos, if the phone is fc'd, will the factory be able to repair it for me if I pay (i'm not sure I have the receipt for guarantee). If anyone knows, thanks.
Thanks a lot in advance;
Mat.
i don't understand how you can browse the windows folder via active sync if you cannot turn it on.
have you tried a different sim card. ie was your 'friend' using it on o2 or something different.
the switch beside the sim card slot is a detector ie if the door is open - no power if the door is closed - power. possibly if the switch is broken - no power.
as to a factory repair - pass. it depends on the damage.
ian
cheers - but the switch doesn't seem to be broken - because i can boot into bootlogger mode with the door shut, but not with it open. which suggests to me that the switch is alive and well. i've no idea what's wrong with it. gonna have to be a factory repair unless flashing the rom from bootlogger mode might help... that's the only thing i can see might be wrong with it.
There's no sim card in it, i haven't bought one for it yet. I don't know what network he used it on, but the phone came from europe.
I can browse the folder via activesync on my pc - when i go into the connect mode on bootlogger.

this is the answer to your problem, no sim card no power, if the 'phone is unblocked then any will do if not try any anyway, you never know.
ian
phone always worked before without a sim card. i'll try it though, thanks.

no mate, still not working with a sim card - the phone is unlocked..
:-( thanks anyway;

What is being displayed on the screen during your resets soft or hard (details please)?
You say the bootloader is working, Right! So do us a favor and check your GSM and report what it says.
To get to the GSM settings "while in bootloader mode" just press the Calender button.
Looking forward to your reply,
sorry, i'm slightly technically challenged, but i'm getting there.
if i take the device from its cradle and perform a soft reset, the green and red hang up/answer lights come on together for a few seconds and then go off. nothing else happens and i cannot turn on the device. if i try to, nothing happens at all.
If I perform a hard reset, aboslutely nothing at all happens except that I have to put the device back into its cradle and take it out again if i want to do a soft reset. If i do a soft reset straight after a hard reset, it does nothing (the lights don't even come on).
if i load bootloader, it says "GSM ERROR" where it says "GSM OK". I assume this is because I have no sim card in my device.
Well, i'm finding out things as I write -it seems to behave differently every time. I put it in bootloader mode to find out my gsm settings, and placed it in the cradle whilst it was loading... and it said "GSM OK". I soft resetted, the lights came on for a couple seconds and i'm back to where i started.
Confused!! Thanks for all your help though
mat.
note: for some reason, after taking the device from its cradle or placing it in, after a period of about a minute, the device chimes. i've no idea why or what it's trying to tell me. (the red and green hang up/call lights also come on for a second when this happens)
alright, update...
if i go into bootloader mode, and at the screen where it says "wait" i put the device into the cradle, and take it straight out again, the device says "GSM OK" (maybe it confuses it.)
Otherwise, the device says "GSM ERROR".
Mat
i managed to get onto the flash menu, and copy "BOOT TO SD", and then i went into bootloader mode and downloaded it from the sd card and it said succesful, cold reset to complete...
my device is now in the cradle, the buttons are doing nothing when pressed and the call.hangup lights are permanently on.
if i press the calendar button, a menu comes up saying...
UTLITIES
===GSM OFF===
DEBUG/CALI.
GSM TURN ON
GSM TURN OFF
GSM RESET
GSM 900
GSM 1900
GSM 900 / 1800
GSM RECAL
GSM NORMAL
this is really confusing me. i think i need to take this thing to O2.
yes? no?
thanks again;
Mat.
"GSM Error" seems to indicate there's something trashed with your radio stack. I had this same problem this week with a failed update to the T-Mobile 6.24 radio stack. Even with no SIM card inserted, you should still get "GSM OK". The only time I saw "GSM ERROR" was while the radio stack was hosed.
Try this: First, take out your SIM card, and in the menu you describe above, choose TURN GSM OFF. Then, reflash the ROM via the SD/bootloader method (look for the thread in the ROM Updates forum for help). I recommend the 4.00.05 ROM (Windows Mobile 2003 from 02). Once that's done, you need to get it to boot into the OS. With a corrupt radio stack, this can take 15-20 minutes or more. Do a soft reset, then let it sit for at least 30 minutes or so, and see if it boots into the OS.
Once you are in the OS, you should be able to connect via activesync, and re-flash your radio stack. I don't know what carrier you're on, but I'd suggest getting the latest radio stack update for your carrier's network, and not using a radio stack for another network.
It's a long shot, but I think if you can successfully re-flash your radio stack, you might be back in business.
Good luck!
JoshB
you are god mate  .
First thing i'm gonna try is squaling like a girl for somebody else (O2 or an independant company) to fix it for me. Failing that, i'll try your method and anything else anybody suggests... Failing that i'll tell people it's some kind of space age weapon and hold up a bank for the money for a new one
here's what technical support said:
"It doesn't sound like anything I've come across before in the past. What I would suggest is for you to call the XDA warranty line anyway on the off chance that they can give you some advice."
Thanks a lot;
Mat.
NEWSFLASH! Took my phone from the cradle, put it back in and the orange charger light came on... This is weird as i've done nothing to it. It seems to be recovering bit by bit as if it got wet and is drying out or something... but it didn't get wet. I hope this helps somebody, someone else must be having the same problem. I read about one other guy who's phone has gone tits up, and even though his problem is different from mine, it seemed to be caused by the same thing - just leaving the phone on until the batteries died.
Mat.
aaaannnndd it's gone again. no charging light. it's weird, like my phone just decided it didn't wanna work for me any more and stopped.
i'll take it to get it repaired, see what they say. if not, it'll make a nice paperweight or maybe i can flog it to some blind kid

[Q] phone goes black with panel lit

Phone is randomly freezing, screen goes off and panel stays lit.
Pulling battery is only way to reset, wasn't doing anything special to cause a freeze.
It's almost like it falls asleep, but can't wake it up without pulling battery.
Few times I went to turn of screen, froze on me before I touched the power button. Other times were random, switching screens, backing out of an app.
Since there is no full root, I only have stock apps. It doesn't reboot, just goes dark and panel stays lit.
Is a reset needed ?
I read the other threads, but phone doesn't reboot. Phone is not on a specific app when freezing, and not getting error of any kind when it freezes, just dark screen and panel light on.
Any ideas ?
Thanks

I would try a factory reset and if that doesn't work then I would take it to sprint and swap it out.

This ^ had a similar problem with my OG only got worse
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d
Did a factory reset, first time through bootloader. Went through the process but didn't reboot. Had to manual boot through power button.
Started up fine, but since it didn't reboot on its own after factory reset, I chose to do it through settings. Cleared storage card also( nothing special on there) , figured it might help. Process went fine, just no reboot.
Decided to go with it, did the manual boot through power button again.
So far its not freezing, will wait anotherday or so.
Q. If phone is charging while doing a factory reset, will it prevent the reboot, even if battery has enough juice for factory reset.
Q. Will doing a factory reset wipe the cache, or does it need to be cleared in recovery before a factory reset.
Figured id ask if it happens again,
Thanks

My phone started doing this yesterday. I took it into Sprint and ask them not to pull the battery and give it straight to the tech or a manager. Of course be walks away to a sales person and he pulls the battery out then calls me over and asks if i want a tech to look at it. I said no cause the phone obviously worked now. About an hour later my screen became unresponsive. I took it back and told them not to **** with it just give it to the tech. The salesman verified that the screen was dead and told me to come back in 2 hours.
When i came back they told me that they couldn't find anything wrong with my phone. I'm on my 3rd phone now and they said that they will give me one more phone and that's it. I'm scared to get another one cause they have all been so messed up. I've only had this one for 2 days now so I'm going to hang on to it and see if it keeps screwing up. It already looks like I'm starting to have green picture problems to though.

same here havent got an answer, not sure if its a software issue or phone hardware issue , screen goes blank with the screen keys still light up,
did a factory reset its been good for now hopefully stays that way but what does anyone recommend if it happens again, take it back and get a new one?
Same problem here i have been to Sprint 3 times for this issue and every time they just say they will look at it and then do a reset and reflash and send me on my way... Never fixes the problem and they say the wont swap my phone till they can replicate the problem them selves... Pisses me off.
I just had it do it to me twice in last hour
Going to call Sprint

Software issue, keep your panties on and wait for root or an OTA.

Hi.
My original would freeze and i had to take the battery out. and the resets did not work and it got bad worse i had to take the battery out 5-6 a day. the second one my gps, wifi would not work properly even after resets. my third one would not freeze but my phone display would go off then in 5 sec or so the display would be lit but it was black and my search key would be lit. I did 2 factory resets ad a hard reset and it did not fix the problem. I know the repair stores say they need to replicate the problem to exchange and will do a reset and send you on your way. What i did was that i took pics and video of the problem. and showed the rep at the store. first he had said i had to wait 2 hour for a tech to check it then i showed him the vid and he just went ahead and changed it. So maybe if you have a camera available do this at least you might have a stronger argument.
Had same problem. I my recommendation is either take a video of the problem, or what I did was as soon as this problem happens again just bring it to the store frozen, as soon as it froze I just went to the store.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
i am having problems with the screen timeout setting itself to 15 and 30 seconds. also had a couple freezes where i had to do a battery pull. lets all just calm down and wait for full root and we will be able to fix all these software issues ourselves.
Just relax and wait for root. Or call a waaambulance

Strange sleep issue after .13 update

So all seemed to be fine and dandy after the update, but I went to check something on my tablet and it wouldn't wake up. Pressing the power button, or even holding it didn't do anything; the screen was black. I held volume up and power and it vibrated, then I held it again and it vibrated again. The third time I did this, it finally booted up again.
Dunno what this means.
EDIT: Just happened again, although now I can't seem to get the thing back on. The screen is just off and vol. up + power only makes the thing vibrate after a few seconds. I simply left the prime on the lock screen and came back and it was stuck again.

Mine does the exact same thing when I tether it to my Sensation with BT.
I'm still on 2.11.1 though
UPDATE
I just manually updated my pad to .13 this morning. It did NOT alleviate my problem but it didn't make it any worse. Unlike many other user who report the lockups when sleep now, mine still only occurs when I tether BT and it goes to sleep. On the upside, I've tested my wifi and do confirm an improvement ~20% increase in signal strength and quality.
According to dd-wrt on my router signal increased from about ~49% to 63%
and Wifi analyzer signal strength ~77-68dB to ~54-47dB. I have not tested GPS.
Apparently the build variance between pads are reflected by the variance in the effects of the update

How do you get it back on? I can't seem to power it up now.
EDIT: Nevermind, I just held power and it turned back on after about 5-7 seconds. I think it might be a "Wifi off during sleep" issue..but idk.

same thing is happening to me after the update. My prime never used to do that but something in the update screwed with it. is there anyway we can revert back?
Doubt this is an update issue as I haven't seen it yet or most others. Or they all would be posting about it. That is strange though. You all didn't root n go messing around with stuff did you? Lol. If anything I'd try a fresh reboot. Maybe even clear out all the caches. Something else is seeming to cause this. By any chance did you install chrome beta? Some users reporting strange things since installing it. I don't think its the app but it is strange though or coincidence.

no I didn't root. I may factory reset if it keeps doing it and see if that works. I got a decent working prime and it would suck if this update is giving me problems. yes I did install chrome beta but this issue happened before I even installed it so that can't be it.
Ok, this has to do something with the update.
My perfectly fine from before prime wouldn't unlock. I couldn't get it to respond. (I thought it was dead..) I tried to unlock and pressed volume, did nothing.
I just read this thread and tried holding the power button and it vibrated and booted after the hold...
Asus needs to stop the patch roll out untill this is fixed...
Same problem for me. And after a short sleep, it wakes up, but there is a delay of about one half second that didn't used to be there.
-gary
After that one sleep, it has not yet repeated since last night for me
not only did mine do the same thing but it also killed my battery life while my Prime was sleeping... epic fail asus its time to return for a refund and never look back.
Maybe try reverting back and see if the problem goes away.
This hard-to-wake-up issue happened to me once after the update, but my Prime did finally wake up. Have not had the issue since. There was a lag in the wake up yesterday also, as others have mentioned, but even that seems to be gone now (or I'm just used to it).
Possible fixes for this situation:
1) Hard reset (stick an open small paper clip into the little hole just below the microSD) -- I'm sure most of you have tried this already...
And, if that doesn't work:
2) Hard reset, then reapply the .13 firmware update manually right after (assuming that is possible)
My tendency is to always do a hard reset just before any firmware updates -- makes me feel a little more confident. I was lazy and did not do that yesterday, but it won't happen again.
enough with this crap
Dude, you really gotta stop trolling, this is the third thread you are spewing this crap in in the last three I read.. You obviously are not returning it, you just like to *****.

unsure if this is the right thread, but mine's been acting up since the update as well. when i'm actively using it and turn off the screen, it boots up as quick as before to the unlock screen. however, after letting it sit for a few hours, it seems to have shut off where i'll have to hold the power button on for a few seconds (after 2 or 3 tries) to get it to boot up again as if i reset the tab.
Having the same issues with mine as well. I have installed Chrome Beta, but had it running for a few days pre-update without issue.
I almost always keep mine in the dock, but haven't had a chance to determine if it only happens in the dock or not.
i have seen this occur in the past ..before the update.. i thought the battery was dead but plugging in the charger didnt do much.. held the power+vol up 3 times finally woke up .. and said 36% battery left... i m on the verge of returning this after 2 weeks of use.. just cant get over these silly silly issues
Mine just did the same thing. I'm on the newest update. Had to hold power button 10+ seconds for it to come back.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
Mine died over night with a charge of 36% in balanced mode. Had to hold the button down for 10 seconds to get it to turn on today after it was plugged in the charger for 20 minutes. Now when i wake it out of sleep there is a .5/1.5 second delay for the screen to come on.
Same issue
Had absolutely no issues with my tablet prior to this update - no random reboots, but now if it's off for a minute or more, I have to hold power in for 7-12 seconds to boot up the system.
Hey, just a thought.
Maybe also include the first few of your tablet's serial number to see if the problem is consistent with some batch(es) and not others? May help others that's going to update...

[Help] Power button issue

I tried to turn the screen off, but it keeps turning back on. I've had this issue for a while and looked it up. Most people said it was a hardware issue, but the thing is...now it will not turn off the screen at all. I know the power button works because I can long press it to get the power menu as well as hold to restart, but not turn off the screen. Also, I can activate the "lock" feature in TWRP as well with the power button. I had this issue on an older rom, so I wiped EVERYTHING and installed revolt, yet I still had this issue and as I was typing this, I got the new issue of it never turning off. I don't know what's causing it. Any ideas? It's been happening for a few days now.
Attempt 2: Now I have the stupid turning off issue. Now, every time I press the power button the opposite happens. It turns on for a second and then turns back off. I'm thinking that this is a hardware issue. Anyone else disagree?
Attempt 3: Back to same issue, turns off and turns right back on in like 2 seconds. Going to call Samsung and see what this is about.
[EDIT]: I should mention, I have the same vibrate issue described in this thread. I'm suspecting a stuck power button. Great. Time to talk AT&T into giving me an early upgrade.
A stuck power button won't allow your phone to boot up completely. So you're probably ok there if you can boot up and type in an app.
You do have an issue though. Something got borked up somewhere. I would try going back to stock completely.
Backup important files, wipe EVERYthing on the phone at least twice. Then using Samsung kies on a PC do an emergency firmware update. Once your update completes perform another factory reset and see how she's working. If you still have a problem then contact Samsung. If no problem, enjoy your phone!
Eh, I tried the wiping everything (internal, not the sd card), but I guess I shall try moving it to stock as well. Do you suggest keeping TWRP or should I install stock kernel, recovery, and do a firmware update? I might also dump my phone in rice to see if maybe some water got in there (doubt it though). Also, I might be screwed if it's otherwise. Been over a year since I bought the note.
Also, are you sure it's not stuck (partially or sometimes maybe)? My phone is constantly rebooting on and off for no reason and sometimes this happens, other times the power button is okay. But when it does reboot, it vibrates a lot. Sometimes it'll just keep vibrating and never reboot like it's turning off and on constantly and I have to press and hold the power button a few times before it starts booting again.
EDIT: I also realize it could be a combination of issues and one of these issues might be a battery one. I do have another battery and I can feel a noticeable bulge so I'll go home, change the roms, battery, and do a firmware update and see how it goes.
Would just like to add that flashing an official firmware through kies did not fix my problem. Furthermore, now I'm getting the invalid sim problem and it keeps asking me to restart. I had this problem before and just recently (a week ago) got a new sim and now it's back. Maybe it's an hardware issue?

LGv10 stuck on LG splash screen on boot

Hey there. Out of nowhere today my phone rebooted on it's own and is now stuck on the "LG Life's Good" splash screen. I have the AT&T version (H900) and bone stock everything (I have not messed with bootloaders or rooting or anything). I tried removing the battery and this also does nothing. Anyone else have this issue and know what to do to fix it?
Thanks
Update: After letting the phone sit for about 20 minutes it magically booted and is now working fine... not sure what happened.
Have you tried doing a factory reset of you phone?
1) Turn off the phone.
2) Then hold down the Volume Down and Power button together for a couple of seconds.
3) As soon as the LG logo is displayed, let go of the Power key, keep pressing the Volume Down and then press once more the Power button.
Afterwards you should see a factory reset menu on your screen.
4) Confirm process by choosing appropriate options using Volume rockers to navigate and Power button to confirm.
5) Now your phone should restart.
6) Success! The hard reset has just been completed.
I am having this same problem.
Was using Pandora and GPS. It cut off and has not come back on. I attempted to open in safe mode recovery mode l and tried to-do a factory reset.
When I did the reset It went through the erasing process but when it rebooted it stayed on the LG screen. I've tried all the "common" trouble shooting suggestions... Its been two hours now.
Any new experiences with this issue?
Im also having the same issue with my V10 - Verizon model. Watching a YouTube video and it reset and got stuck on the LG logo splash screen. Followed instructions to do a factory reset and after about 45 min of being stuck on the factory reset screen after I confirmed it reset and booted up. All data and setting were still saved, and after about 3-5 minutes it reset again and went right back to being stuck on the LG splash screen.
Any other advice? or is it just dead?
I am having the same issue with my stock AT&T V10. It randomly turned off, then I couldn't even get it to turn on. No charge screen. No Life's Good. I took out the battery and it would get to the blinking red question mark, but there is no way that I can see that I can use the phone without the battery. Sometimes the phone will boot to the LG screen, but mostly it will not. Even if it does, it will shut down after 3 mins or so.
Once I tried to hard reset it, and the phone just vibrated until i took the battery out. So I dont know whats going on. The phone has been running warm when playing Pokemon Go so maybe that's the culprit? Not like I was playing it all the time though.
Luckily I moved *most* of the new baby pictures over to the microSD. Ugh, I hope I can get the rest!

@jjall Very odd. Glad I am not the only one, though! I chatted with an AT&T service tech last night and he basically said he has no idea what is going on, but what he read about something similar indicated that the phone and all the files are most likely corrupted. Luckily I moved most of the photos over to the extra microsd, I am going to an AT&T service center to see if they can work any magic and retrieve any other files. Last night the tech started a warranty replacement and the new(ish) phone is on its way.
I did get it to boot to the white safe mode screen but was not ready to say erase all, just in case it erases the photos. I chose to restart the phone and nothing, just black. Every once in a while the phone will just vibrate for 30 seconds before shutting down while the screen is black. Other times I get the soft vibrate as though it is turning on, but nothing happens. Some times I get the LG screen, but then that just turns off. No rhyme or reason except that I at least get some response after the phone and battery have been apart for a while.
I'll update when I get back.

Yeah. I get the same thing. I'm taking it to att today to see if anything can be done. My only problem is that I dropped the phone a few months ago, the only time i've dropped it, and lens came off without me noticing. I'm pretty sure that voids the warranty. Either way, i'll see if i can pay for an upgrade or something. Good luck to you.

My guys said they could not do anything, but as I was playing with the phone, it magically came to life! I was in the process of moving all the photos to the microsd, then it froze, crashed, then wouldn't turn on. So it's possible! They mentioned taking it to a cell-phone tech place to see if they could do anything as they have better tools to help fix things. Dunno what that would do to the warranty. The tech guys did say they dont carry any spare parts or batteries for the V10 because it never has a problem. I told them that there is a rash going around and they might see it soon.
I did notice that the colder i kept the phone, the more of a chance that it would *at least* turn on, before crashing. So at least there is hope...somewhere. Hoping a new battery will help maybe, even though it seems to be a hardware issue.
How's your luck @jjall?

Actually, i just got home and I decided to try out to see if it worked. I got the 0% battery sign. Plugged it in and it actually seems to be charging! So i'm hopeful. I also noticed that my phone has been getting hot lately. And that my battery life was crap. But that's just LG. I talked to an ATT customer service rep. and they told me that I could have the camera lens replaced so that my phone would be covered for an exchange. Even if it turns on, i'm going to exchange it just as soon as save all my files. Hopefully they'll take it now that it's working....
EDIT
it decided to turn on while it was charging. Froze on booting screen. It was HOT. Like I almost dropped it.
Hmm, I was going to say "CONGRATS!" but sorry. Did the battery get hot or did the phone itself get hot? Feels like mine is getting hot at or near where the led flash is. Gonna let it stay in this LG welcome screen for a bit and find out. I'm wondering if a new battery would help, but I have to wait until the 19th though before my replacement shows up.
Also, were you playing Pokemon go before? Wondering if that is what started this all.
Hello!
So the same thing happened to me. I was not playing any games on my phone. I had JUST clocked out of work using an application on my phone and sent a text. It has turned off on its own and didn't want to even turn back on. I removed the battery and set it back in.. it turned on to the LG screen and stayed until it blacked out again shortly after.
Same issue with TMO LG V-10 here. Was using phone and it went black and shut down. Now in a loop with the LG boot screen. It tried a few times then just goes black.
Well I just got my replacement and the new battery didn't do anything to help the broken phone. Guess I am going to lose some important pictures. I have a few days to keep on trying before I have to send it back to AT&T. Interesting this is happening to a few people all around the same time.
@Buzzbee21 did you notice your phone running hot at all before the shut down? Mine was running hot a lot, so maybe the heat protection is the problem.
At time yes. Not so much when it did quit. However, I left it sit on a fan and chilled it, and one time when I was able to get to the wipe screen, before it quit again, it got very hot in the afformentioned area.
Less than a year old. Getting a warranty replacement, but still disappointed as I think having the replaceable battery and abiltiy to put a large Micro SD card in it, along with the finish, camera, and Audio make the V10 one of the nicest phones out there.

this may sound weird but the same thing happen to me.... put the phone in the freezer for a while then boot it up but be prepared to get your pics, music, etc off of it quick... mine works fine until it warms up to room temp, then back in the freezer it goes to do it again... did it like 4 times today and saved over 1600 pics, bunch of videos and music. (saved them to a mircoSD card)
Wow. This happened to me last night, and I thought it was the weirdest thing. I wasn't even using my phone. It was sitting on my dinner table, and I noticed the screen on with the LG logo. I went over and picked it up. It stayed on the logo a few minutes, so I took the battery out. Then I turned it on, nothing but LG screen. I kept messing with it with a combination of Power/volume down and finally got it to come on to my home screen. It worked for about five minutes before being wonky again. I took the batter out all night. I'm hoping that I can get it to come on again today (I've tried 10 times and not been able to) so that I can make sure the developer options is checked, then I can hook it to the computer and mess around with it.
Thanks for this thread. It seems most of us just started having this issue in August. I'm planning on getting the V20 next month, but I need this one to last until then. haha Please keep us updated if anyone figures anything out and I will do the same.

SO, not saying this will help anything but, after messing around with the phone for several hours I've learned this:
If you take the battery out, then plug it into your laptop, then turn it on: a battery icon will pop up with a ? on it.
From there, if you hold down the VOLUME down key, and insert the battery, it will take you into the quick boot menu automatically. Unfortunately I never set that up, and not it will not allow me to set it up. I assumed I could get to safe mode from there. This is the first time I've seen where I would have to "set up" the quick boot menu. This is my first LG phone though. I usually use HTC, or MOTO.
Now, the more interesting thing is, begin as I did last time.
Phone off, battery out, plug into computer, power on. Then hold the UP volume key as you insert the battery and it will take you to your "Tethering" option. So for most of you that have this problem, maybe you will be able to get the data to back it up. Unfortunately for me, it tells me I have to do a Firmware update first, and to not unplug the USB connection until it is complete. If your firmware is up to date, maybe it will allow you to do back up (I thought my firmware was up to date, but guess not).
I hope this helps someone, and I do hope that someone can build on what I've done so far so we can figure out how to at least get our data off the phone.

The phone got hot. It was getting hot starting from around the power buttons. And it sometimes got hot before i downloaded pokemon go. Not as often, but it happened from time to time. I think it might be because i'm no longer using the original power usb cable.... idk. Just waiting for a replacement.
Can you say the first 3 digits of the serial number of the device to boot loop problem?
