[Q] Major WTF moment -___- - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

I just rebooted my ace because every time I tried downloading an app from the market, it said failed to parse package or something. After rebooting, phone took an incredible amount of time to boot so I turned it off, turned it on again and let it boot. It still took a lot of time so I just left it there. Until it finally booted. All my apps were gone and everything was back to stock CM7 looking.
What the hell just happened? Not even the Market app is there!
Luckily I had a backup of a clean CM7.2 install so I flashed it back. I'm so confused!! :'(

The Market is evil ! *runs*
No seriously , that app might have been an undercover CarrierIQ or something

Okay, I'm not a master-of-android here (like you), but AFAIK CarrierIQ only concerns the US. Even though it might be preinstalled on our devices, CyanogenMod has and will never inject CarrierIQ on its ROMs (I'll link to that)
As for our friend SuperAce:
Do you have a2sd (or similar tweak) enabled? The partition might be corrupted or something wicked happened to it.
But then you said that the Market is also gone, and a2sd type tweaks only link user apps.
Hmmn... very peculiar...

Yeah, but the weird thing was that some of the apps i had installed on the sd were shown in the drawer like some games and such. But when I tried to reinstall the market, it keps saying application not installed. I use S2E to move the dalvik cache and the apps to the sd.
I have no idea what happened. I just rebooted and poof, all gone.

A- Don't use s2e. I have suffered through the same stuff with s2e.
B- Market doesn't install like normal apps. Use root explorer to place it in /system/app and change permissions to rw-r--r--
Unless you already reverted

But on a more serious matter, why no S2E? Its the reason why I have almost unlimited space on my ace D:

Something like that happened with me.
I was listening to music, then suddenly phone crashed, i had to wipe all caches, almost reinstalled the rom, so phone worked again...
That's why it's beta.

Market can install as an apk. Same goes for all Google apps. It depends whether you want them as "system" apps or not.

Sight, Just Use the stock XXXS5830KPD firmware and use The Myth ICS Lite Rom, it won´t give you any problem like those unnoficial cm, or wait for the official launch of cm for galaxy ace "cooper". im using The Myth ICS Lite , and it is hella fast =P, remember we are in the same country rofl.

Not all versions can. Only the new ones.
If market installed as a normal app on every phone, then people would not have any troubles getting it to work on their Nook / Kindle Fire tablets

Ice cream sunday 2 will sux ur baterry faster cos of the theme running as a service, While the myth Ics lite has that theme as default withouth running as a service.
and for me is working hella fast =D just flash to stock KPD 2.3.4 then flash Clockworkmod 4 and then install the Myth ICS lite, u won´t regret it.

I had the same problem on nearly every ROM I used, but I have a workaround that you get everything back to work. After the problem occured you have to do a CWM backup, format everything and restore the backup. This works for me, hope it helps you too.

Once the old market is installed, and you run it does it autmatically update them to the new market again?
And also you should link to the original dev.

You can also stop the market updating itself by opening up terminal and typing:
su -
pm disable com.android.vending.updater
You will get a message to say its been disabled. I usually just use route explorer to move a copy of the old market (vending.apk) to system/apps and set permissions, run terminal with the above command and voila! Must say though, it will be nice to see how this installer works, especially if it cuts down on excess finger tapping..
I've never been able to use any of the new markets, its awful. Not sure if there's any weird issues with the internet around here but it was so hard to get anything installed. It could take 20 mins to install a single app, I could have configured my whole phone from scratch in that time!
Good work!

Haha yeah i know what you mean, i had a few problems with some of the new versions as well, just like that but with mine it would never actually install. It would finish the download then say it was corrupt and could not install. Or something along those lines. But the newest one seems to work for me now. The only reason i want an old market is for the old theme of it.
Cheers for the info tho, ill have a look, havent installed this yet, just finished putting Flame.E 0.2 on my mimmi.

vB2.9.1 Odexed XRON-ified thinks my hp touchpad is a GT-i9100

I thought maybe my install was corrupted, so I tried 2 more times, and even ran ACMEUninstaller to redo the whole process...but it still thinks my touchpad is a GT-i9100.
what should I do?
I think it's meant to do that for app compatibility.
in that rom the developer probably edited the build.prop (found in system/app) to GT-I9100 so that a lot of apps are usable on your touchpad.
So in a way it should benefit you

As stated above it is done on purpose in order to allow more apps and games to work successfully from the market. Enjoy it, it's a great ROM with great developers that will only get better!
Since it's a device that wasn't initially built for Android, not many apps would install, much less run, on it if we said it was a TouchPad.... no apps were designed with that in mind and the Market definitely wasn't.
The build.prop was edited to reflect an android device that most programs will agree and download off the market. Since the Touchpad is a WebOS, it is not to be known as an Android device. You can edit the build.prop to any device, but the Samsung seems to be the better choice of all.

Tired of slow sluggish android market?

Hey hi guys
The new android market sure is beautiful but our phone simply cannot take that much load,
First I thought overclocking my phone would help me make it faster but turns out its still slow
If you are in same situation, here is the solution :
Download the attachment
Install the file normally
Now go to titanium backup n freeze the updater app
Now while you are still in titanium backup, long click on market n select integrate to os...this would push the app into system
P.S.: The last 2 steps make sure your market wont again update itself to the new slow market.
N yes this requires rooted phone
-Hit Thanks if I have helped you!

You can also remove market updater from gapps before you flash it too.

There's an app called "Old Market" that can do this. It can also revert back to the new one. I find it quite useful!
(Also, on the old market, sometimes my apps download, but not install, why? )
same problem here...
I'm running CM7 and V6 Supercharger with a smartassV2 overclock set to 710 MHz and Market is running like a charm. For those of you that don't have the V6 mod, wiping your DALVIK Cache helps, too.

You can just remove updates from Application Manager to revert back to old market.

Can you be specific? Which apps?
I tried to download word with friends. And it said it was incompatible. And pretty much all the wallpaper apps were incompatible. Such as picspeed wallpapers HD. I may be mistaken and maybe these apps are really just not compatible with the photon. But I remember playing words about a month ago when I was on stock.

So i have been having a similar problem. I tried installing tiny tower, discover card, capital one bank, and citi credit card apps and all of them said "your device is incompatible with this version" on the google play store. I tried to use the apk to install tiny tower manually and it came back saying "application not installed" I also tried reflashing gapps as was suggested above and that didn't seem to change anything.
These apps all worked fine on the stock sense OS but they don't work on cm7.2
I've heard that there are patches for CM7.2 RC1, is that true, does anyone know where i could get them so i could flash them?
The same issue
Hi,
I have Samsung Galaxy 3 and since I flashed the CM 7.2. RC3 I wasn't able to install many application. Do anyone has the solution?
Thanks...
From my experience the apps not compatible is due to changing settings of your screen density
. Stock is 240. Have you changed it? Rom toolbox? Modify build.prop? Or even in the cm7 settings?

Hey xda,i'm on Omega latest build and syah kernel. My problem is the lags and delays I have on the UI.It's smooth but I'm having lags and delays. What would be the problem ? I have big delays when starting system apps like Contacts,Mesaging etc. I have only few apps installed and all bloatware uninstalled.
you don't have a problem, it's a known issues of samsung's roms.
try to install 3rd party apps like ex dialer - super quick.

Running foxhound 2.2 here, this ROM is rapid.
When flashing any ROM, do not do an advanced restore and refrain if you can from not performing a full wipe.
If all else fails then perform a mega wipe and re install your apps from the play store rather than titanium.
Test the ROM prior to this and choose a decent kernel. If its perfect when nothing is installed then you know that its an app or apps causing the issue.
