Hi,
I'm running darkside v4.2, and the wifi seems to lost connection randomly.
And the speed to connect to wifi is very slow too. It always shows "connecting" for a while when I enable wifi.
These problem also happens in other roms too. How can I fix these problems?

You could try flashing a new radio.
Hey OP, I tried a couple of different radios from the radio thread but still have the same problem as you on the newest Darkside rom. Were you able to find a solution?

Try to amend the build.prop
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval = 30
Hope this help to solve your problem
Great suggestion. Gave it a try and no luck. It did start kicking me off of the wifi a lot more often though. Like about every few minutes as opposed to every 10 minutes so this might be on the right track.
Here is what i have tried.
fastboot wipe
RR's CWM factory reset
CWM wipe cache
CWM wipe dalvik
DS rom 4.2 full wipe install
Baseband 77
baseband 100
stock kernel
faux123 2.2 kernel
faux123 2.3 beta kernel
set a new APN
edited the moto.providers sql for tethering
edited build.prop to shorten time interval from 90 to 30
edited build.prop to lengthen time interval to 120 from 30
edited settings storage db to disable entitlement
changed wifi advanced settings sleep policy to never
set my wifi to never notify if it sees a wifi network
disabled att wifi autoconnect
told the atrix to forget my router's wifi info and then set up manualy
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
*Solution edit....maybe*
Well I ended up with faux123's 2.3 kernel, a fresh DS 4.2 rom, the 100 baseband, scan interval set to 120, the tethering hacks, and all my wifi settings set to manual (i.p,dns,etc.) and that seems to do the trick. I don't know which was the clincher but all together they have, tentatively, solved the problem. 40 minutes now with no wifi dropout.

I need your help
to ease things, am not a newbie ,,, I know my way around
& I've tried many roms but I made my mind to stuck with the stock rom
but as everyone know android doesn't support ad-hoc
although there are many ways to solve this issue but nothing worked with me
after replacing the wpa_supplicant file the phone says "unable to start wifi"
I tried many custom roms, with cyano it connects but it keeps rebooting as long as the wifi is on when I turn it off it works 100%
I even tried to undervolt ,, disable overlock ( I even tried 460MHZ ) but it keeps rebooting
So at the end, Im going for the stock rom, but i need it to connect to ad-hoc network so badly
my phone is mini pro if that does matter
any help please ?
I remember theres a way to enable ad-hoc on stock by editing ''tiwlan.ini'' which is located in /system/etc
I want that too

Thanx but I couldn't find it anywhere...
Search the threads for wifi n nd dlna, they'll help u
thanks galvic
I went for CM mini6 ... installed cpu master,,, and put 480 MHZ as maximum
now it's strange,,, since everything works fine except when the device is connected to wifi and left idle it keeps rebooting
but if I was using it it works fine :/
strange but I'll stay with this rom
thanks for your help
Try changing the cpu to 600mhz no undervolting and minimum speed at 122+
tried , but it behaves exactly as 480
so when the wifi is off, everything is normal
when the wifi is on it depends
if there is a data traffic ( i use fring a lot) it works 100%
if I leave it idle it reboots !
so for now I'm okay with this situation, I turn it off all the time but when I need to use fring or to download anything from the market I switch it on , finish everything and turn if off again
Check wifi sleep policy
changed it to never & disabled the task killer , but the same issue nothing has changed
Hello to everybody!
Yesterday i came on with a big problem. I had connected to my brothers wifi.(he turned tethering on his huawei u8500) One moment, i have lost the connection with him.I tryed to reconnect to his network but nothing. Then i went outside my home and tryed to connect to my neighbours open wifi connection, but nothing.
All the time there shows - gathering ip address, and after about 20sec it says dissconnected, and it starts from beginning.
As for SetCpu all was fine, till yesterday again. My freq was 480/729 .
After the wifi problem,i restarted the phone in recovery, and cleaned cache and dalvik..and thought that it will fix the problem but nothing.I turned the phone on, all was o.k Then i opened setcpu as always when i turn on my o1 and wanted to change frequencies, but nothing happened. Superuser allowed setcpu, but nothing.
Through CM settings i can change the freq, but through setcpu - nothing.
After all, before about 1 hour i backed up this rom, and installed CM.6.5.8. All worked fine- setcpu and wifi.
My current rom is CM7 6.5.7
Kernel - franco.v19.-bfs
I don`t want to flash to another rom, becouse later it wil be hard to get all apps and all other things back.
I don`t have any idea what went wrong
Maybe someone can help me?
p.s sorry for my mistakes, if there are any.

Try the latest kernel CFS by fserve
The same,
It`s not working with that kernel.
i also tryed Goldenleaf versions, and i had francis franco v18 kernel. It is not working too...
What could be the problem?
Hi there =)
I've a very puzzling problem with my phone ..
it's started two days ago .. I was reading my mail then suddenly the wifi turned off and start again, but it stopped at 'Obtaining IP address...'
I thought maybe it's router problem, so i restart the router but still the same problem .. then I turned off the phone and took off the battery and tried again .. nothing
then I changed the router to another one .. but still the same thing
removed the password from the router, tried IP address,
I tried 3 applications : FXR WiFi fix and rescue, Fix My WiFi, WiFi Fixer
but nothing worked ..
I've root, so I flashed the original kernel, then the last thing I tried is Factory reset
wiped all the data and cashed .. but none of it helped
I'm using the ROM JPKJ2 2.3.5
any suggestions that may help ?!!!
happens to me at times...
do you have more than one router/switch in your house?
Install wifi analyer (or equivalent) and check which channel your router is using..
is there any overlap with say your neighbours router?
try changing the radio channel on your router or it is has a smart channel switching setting enable it.

it's not a router issue .. I went to a friend's house and tried to connect to his router but it's the same thing .. stuck with 'Obtaining IP address...'
my flat-mate also have SGS2 but the wifi works good with him, I also tried the tethering from his phone to mine .. and it didn't work =/
thanks for your reply =)
Flash a different modem not kernel first .
jje
I just flashed the entire rom .. and it worked =D
but still want to know what caused the problem !! =/
thank you guys =)
How weird????
I experienced the same thing last night, in the troubleshooting that I have done, the WiFi would stop connecting after I tried installing the Roboto Font using Font Installer, it first occurred when I upgraded to KK5 from KJ3, I didn't like the font so I went ahead customizing my device to my usual standards then realized that the WiFi was not connecting, it was stuck on Obtaining IP Address.
I decided to factory reset, nothing, so I flashed back to KJ3 and it was working again, I was relieved, so I installed Jkays Mods and also the Roboto font and Speedmod Kernel, woke up in the morning to the WiFi not connecting again, so I flashed KJ3 with Odin and it connected, I flashed CF Root KJ3 and it was still working, I installed Jkays Mods and it was still working and when I installed the font using the app, it stopped working again, so I flashed KJ3 through Odin again, then flashed CF root and it was still working, this time I used font installer to install Roboto font before Jkays Mods and again my Wifi was stuck at obtaining IP address.
So I flashed KJ3 again and it was working, then CF Root and Jkays Mods and all is well so far, but I fear that it can happen again as I have no idea what is really causing it, and I can't make the connection between the app Font Installer installing the Roboto font and my WiFi being borked...
What were you doing exactly before it stopped connecting....
there's something wrong !!!
the first time I had the problem I was just reading an email from my teacher using Gmail, nothing weird ... now after I solved the problem by flashing the rom I start restoring my apps using My Backup Pro, then i restart the phone and the problem return !!!!
there isn't any new app, all the apps was working well without causing ay problem.
so i flashed the rom again without wiping any data .. my apps still there and the problem solved !!!!
Thus far, it seems the issue for me was the Font installer, I still don't think that I am in the clear, so I would use my phone normally, maybe something will reveal itself with patience
I will keep the variables to a minimum, use the phone normally and finish installing all of my apps, if my phone continues to work okay, I will try a custom kernel and so on and so on, it is good to know that the issue goes away when a stock ROM is flashed though, hopefully that will not change

I'm having the exact same problem with Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 stable. I downloaded daily 116 but found that if I just reflashed the 7.1.0 .zip the wifi would start DHCP association negotiation successfully again.
The problem for many seems to be related to updating busybox installer by Stericson
Just flash over the original rom and don't update busybox

you don't have to flash the entire ROM

good to know, thanks bro =)
I'm on the latest nAa kernel, using MiniCM7-2.1.9, but wifi just doesn't work. I can browse the internet using my 3G connection, just not wifi for some reason.
Wifi shows it's connected, the signal bars is full but it just doesn't download any data, it's like it's not connected at all. It's able to get an IP address and the link speed is good but it just doesn't get any data.....
I've tried searching through different posts and tried solutions such as:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21766413&postcount=498
as well as the instruction to fix wifi in the Troubleshooting page here:
http://code.google.com/p/minicm/wiki/Troubleshooting
and this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22170822&postcount=817
I also cleaned the dalvik cache by going into recovery, reboot and still doesn't work.
and they all don't work....
UPDATE:
OK nvm it works now. I reflashed the kernel, wipe data & factory reset and then reflash the rom, and now it works. It's the exact same thing I did for the past 30 mins, except this time I also reflashed the kernel. I just hope it'll continue working.....
UPDATE 2:
Ok, now it's not working again. I rebooted the phone twice, and it was able to connect to wifi no problem. But then later on it stopped working again, I didn't install or change anything either.
I also noticed that whenever I'm connected to wifi on my phone, the wifi on my PC will timeout and drop connection. If I then try to connect wifi on my PC, then the wifi on my phone will timeout. Basically, I can't connect both at the same time.
But all my other devices work fine. My Motorola Milestone and my mom's HTC Desire Z works fine. My iPod Touch works fine, I've NEVER had a wifi issue with any of my devices until I tested out my new Xperia X10 Mini Pro today.......
I haven't tried testing it on stock rom & kernel, because the first thing I did was to unlock the bootloader and flash the nAa kernel + MiniCM7-2.1.9. And I can't be bothered flashing back to stock since I won't be staying on stock anyway, especially after setting up everything already so I can't really be bothered.....
Anyway, so I then tried to delete wpa_supplicant.conf in data/misc/wifi (as mentioned above) and this time it shows "Error" under Wi-Fi settings.
This is really annoying me....
One note about wpa_supplicant.conf (/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf). In stock kernel with MiniCM Pro from paul-xxx the right ctrl_interface was wlan0.
nAa kernel (with MiniCM from nAa) needs tiwlan0.
So it isn't necessery to delete file with all wifi networks when changing kernel/ROM but one value in config file.
ya, except the value was tiwlan0 already, I tried changing it back to wlan0 and nothing happens. So then I tried deleting it, and now whenever I try to turn Wifi on it just shows Error.
What's actually strange about this is that I've backed up the original file, and when I restored it and tried to turn Wifi on, it turns on but doesn't display any network.
Before, it would display tons of networks, and it would connect to my router (but doesn't download data for some reason). It doesn't work but at least you can tell it's able to detect networks.
Now, it doesn't even show any networks. The only way to fix this is to restore from recovery or do a wipe......
Ok so I did some research and could this be the case?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwYOtf4fI0Q
I've also tried to assign static IP but it still doesn't work. I went into my router and checked the ARP, and it shows this:
IP address Flags MAC Address Device
192.168.1.2 Complete 00:18E:48:42:C9 br0
192.168.1.3 Complete 00:E0:4C:A3:8B:A8 br0
192.168.1.6 Incomplete 18:87:96:FE:16:3E br0
192.168.1.5 Complete 48:5D:60:3B:5E:5D br0

where 192.168.1.6 is assigned to my phone. I'm not that good with router stuff but know the basics, does anyone know what I need to configure?

I haven't had time to try this out yet, but maybe you wanna give it a try? Scroll to "PROBLEMS WITH WIFI?" in this topic here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1066824
I recently did an update from 'before V3' to 'V3.4' of kuma82's "Kumakan" ROM, and the next day, my wifi list is randomly blank.
Not sure what happened but have tried V3.1, V3.4, and V3.5 and no wifi
Also tried doing a non-2intd install and tried 3 different recovery options.
Not sure what to do here
Data works fine, but pay per MB so would love to get this fixed! Thanks!
