Ooooookay folks, let's see what I've got here:
- broken HD2, before I was on the Touch Diamond
- will be in the US within the next three months
- afterwards back in Germany
So I am new to Android and Samsung and have a few questions.
Since there are different versions of the S2, I looked at the 9100 version. Is that the best one?
Should I get it next year still in the US or in Germany? Where do I find the best price within the US?
Is there a good source for battery life on the S2?
On the HD2 flashing a custom ROM was fairly easy, how about the S2? Is this what's called rooting?
Thanks in advance for your help, I feel a bit overwhelmed by all the new information right now...

Better to go with the international version ?
International version? Gosh, there are so many different versions...
Am I even in the right subforum for the phone?
JJEgan, thanks for the link!

You may have mistaken this site for Samsung Support. It isn't.
Folks on here help out of a sense of community, they don't get paid for it.
The person you just told to feck off is very knowledgeable and answers a heck of a lot of questions nearly every day.
I am on the same T-Mobile UK network as you and have downloaded from here the very ROM you are looking for, although that has been updated since them. I could easily do the same search on here and point you the link, but would you know what to do with the file? Or have you already fully read the Odin flashing instructions on here?
My first time here was with the HTC Compact III, I read for at least a week all the stickies at the top of each section. When I was sure I wanted to flash a rom, I read and re-read the thread and was as well prepared as I could be.
I am deeply indebted to all those developers and the more knowledgeable on here, who turn my phone into something very special. The least I can do is search before I ask, because nearly every question has already been asked.
i know what to do

The BOKE3 was the origonal firmware for the T-Mobile UK SGSII.
BOKF3, BOKG2 and BOKK1 are revised firmwares.
The stock kernels are there if you have rooted your phone with a CF-Root kernel and then reflash with the stock kernel to get rid of the warning triangle at bootup.
The one you are looking for is not a T-Mobile UK ROM, but rather a Samsung Stock ROM for Europe. Flashing that would invalidate the phone's warranty (if you had to take it back to service). That said, that ROM is really old. For newer versions of Samsung stock ROM then look * HERE *
you are good

Hi guys,
So I've had two smartphones: HTC Desire HD and now my current Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300. My S3 is the first phone I've ever rooted and flashed a custom ROM on to.
Stock, Specs:
AP: I9300XXBLG8
CP: I9300XXLH1
CSC: I9300XABLG8
I have read the rooting guide (flashing CF-Root via Odin) and I've flashed two ROMs so far: MIUI and CM10. I suppose I could say that I know the basics of flashing a ROM on to my phone.
I'm on my next crusade in the technology world (coming from a web dev background) wondering where do I go from here?
I know how to flash a ROM, how about customising one?
Where can I find some form of documentation/guide on performing tweaks to a ROM?
Where can I learn the syntax?
How can I go about creating a custom ROM?
How can I reduce my chances of bricking my device (considering I've had it two months)?
I realise I'm probably asking a lot considering I've only ever flashed two ROMs and 2 days ago I was terrified by the idea, but I'm an optimistic guy looking for a new hobby
Any help, however slight, is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
P.S: sorry if this has been asked before, related threads weren't much help!
Rom building/ Android development is in XDADevelopers.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/
Their are sticky on SGS2 forum including a guide much of which is relevant to SGS3 .

Hi to everyone!
I am new here but I have been on the i9000 forums for the last year and more.
My actual i9000 is quite hacked and I am going to get a i9300 with my phone provider next week.
I would like to understand just a few things to know if I'll be in some quite similar situation of hacking or if the i9300 is in some how different from i9000.
My questions are:
What are the differences between the two forums Galaxy S III Android Development and Galaxy S III Original Android Development ???
How do I go into Download and Recovery mode?
About ROOTING the i9300... Is there some website or Windows app and does that or must I flash something like a new kernel or what?
Is there a way to get some sound improvement for better sound and more volume as it was for i9000 with the Voodoo hack?
Is it possible to flash only a new kernel that gives root privileges, sound improvements and some other cool things? I ask this because I really don't know if I'll go for a complete ROM flashbecause I am a little bit tired in complete hackings
As the phone not bought by my self but related to a phone contract I need to be able to revert back to stock rom/kernel if the phone needs to go back to shop for something, so please tell me where to get stock firmwares and if I need some particular Windows app or know some particular procedure on how to flash.
I hope to have answers from you becuase I really need to understand what is having a i9300 not hacked alot coming from a i9000 that was really hack alot.

Thank you very much. I'll look in there and come back here if I'll not find something
Hello, this is my first time posting on here.
I have an old Galaxy S3, USA version, T-mobile, SGH-T999. I was wondering how to update it to make it usable? From what I've read online the best way is to root and put in a custom ROM. The problem I'm having is finding the latest ROMs. Is there any way to find the latest official ROMs for the phone? And if I download an unofficial one, how can I know which will run well on my phone? Do I just simply get the latest unofficial ROM?
Lastly, if any one has any step by step guide or video on how to root and install ROMs it would be much appreciated as I've never done something like this before. Sorry if this has been posted before, I'm new to this site and have been having trouble navigating and searching old posts.
Thank you.

I suspect the reason that you haven't gotten any responses in the last day or so is that you are on the wrong part of the Forum! This is the area for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 9.7" Tablet, not the Galaxy S3 Smartphone.
You might want to take a look over here for the T-Mobile S3.
Hope that helps clear things up
