[Q] Can't Install BusyBox on Galaxy S2 Rooted Stock Rom - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys, I finally rooted my Galaxy S2 today but when I tried to install busybox through busybox installer from the market. It says "problem with core utilities".
I tried reinstalling the busybox installer but still got the same results?
Please help me.

Isn't busybox installed automatically with root? You can check it doing SSH to local and type 'busybox'

How have you rooted your phone?
By flashing a rooted kernel, such as CF-Root, you would have SU (superuser = root access app), BB (busybox) and CWM (ClockWorkMod) recovery and manager app.
So, why don't you just flash the corresponding CF-Root kernel to your phone?!
Here is Chainfire's thread => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399&highlight=CF+Root
He also described how to update busybox via stericson's installer app from the market.
Good luck !

I rooted using the Super One Click with unsecured kernel, when I tried to install Titanium Backup it was looking for BusyBox.
Thanks for the replies, I will now try them.

There's your problem, rom manager can't install a recovery on a stock kernel, personally i wouldn't use rom manager at all. Just flash a cf-root kernel for your firmware and boot into recovery manually.
Thanks, i've done that and it works perfectly.
but then using cwm i've installed villain rom 3.0.
it's a good rom etc
but it seems like i havent got root after installing it.
none of the apps from market using root permission work.
for example chainfire 3D says i dont have root.
Any explanation for that?
Install Superuser from Market does say this in thread.

Uninstalling Busybox

I have a problem with my phone. I want to use the Galaxy SII repair tool. It says I need busybox 1.7.1 installed to use the app.
I have a newer version of busybox and I can't install the older version on the phone. How do I go about removing this new version?
unroot your phone, that will remove busybox, then manually install older version.
fix your problem then reroot your phone with the newer version.
I can't find a rom and a rooted kernel I can use that has busybox 1.7.1 or earlier installed. Can anyone help me?
anyone?

[Q] No root after installing phantom V7 rom

Hi there,
Im new to all this and after rooted my stockrom 4.3 (GT-N7100) i thought it was time to install a new rom: Phantoms V7. It runs perfectly and root should come with it. I did everything like described but i dont get any root. It keeps saying SU stopped. Does anybody got a clue what i should do?
Thanks in advance
Try to update the app via the Play Store. If that fails, then you can install SuperSU via custom recovery.
http://download.chainfire.eu/452/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip
Thanks for your response but it doesnt work, it got no update in playstore so it must be having the latest SU wud be my guess.
And ehm..custom recovery? Got to read about that
But i figured out by opening SU in playstore that its missing SU binary. When i open SU by app it says SU stopped.
Where can i find that, how to istall it and how is it possible its got none, it was rooted before.
The phantom rom comes with Root and SU
What i tried:
Flashing SU from Phantom Rom v7
chainfires Autoroot
Udated SU by flashing
Superuser cant be deleted once installed?
Sorry for all my questions but totally new at this. Read a lot but some stuff is a little hard to understand
Thanx again
Sorry...got the recovery part but did it and also didn't work

What system version are you on and which version of CF Auto Root did you use? Do you have a custom recovery installed? If not, you should use Odin, not an app to install it. Once you have a custom recovery then you can just use that to install the SuperSU zip from Chainfire (same guy who does CF Auto Root).

Samsung Galaxy S II (GT-19100) Gingerbread | Rooted, but superuser not working

Hello peeps, evilbeef here!
So yea, I have rooted my phone a while a go I have used Odin v185
and I used Speed Kernel S2 K-2 -21 as the PDA file. I have found this on GalaxyS2 Root webpage
I have successfully rooted it, basically I have rooted so many phones using Odin. :laugh:But this one is different. I already have Superuser app (from google store) before I started rooting it. After I rooted it, my phone rebooted automatically. In the Startup, The phone has yellow triangle. My Phone works normally.
BUT THE PROBLEM IS, THERE IS NO REQUEST OF PERMISSION SHOWING, I ALSO USED ROOT CHECKER, IT IS NOT WORKING, IT SAYS ROOT ACCESS IS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED. ALL OF THE APPS I DOWNLOADED THAT NEEDS ROOT PERMISSION ALSO DOESN'T WORK.
BUT ONE THING I AM WANDERING ABOUT IS THAT MY KERNEL VERSION CHANGED.
IT SAYS THAT: 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #k2-21
But also when I go to recovery mode, I can flash CWM recovery automatically.
The only thing that doesnt work I think is the Superuser.
I also tried checking su binary vlegacy. I also try to check for updates but superuser keeps me forcing it to close.
I think I am only having issues with Superuser I think. How Can I fix this? Please Help
Uninstall supersu from you phone.
Download supersu from this link- https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/ Copy paste it into your SD card.
Boot into cwm recovery and install the supersu zip file you downloaded.
Thanks for the fast respond bro! I was thinking about the same thing tho, I just want to have confirmation from others if this thing would work! HAHAHAHAH thanks mate! :--------)
