[Q] Unlink notifications and ringtone volume? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone found a way or an app to unlink the ringtone and notification volume? This is a real deal breaker for me. I need to find a way to be able to set the phone on a "phone only" mode at night so that only the ringer is on.
this is on the new Galaxy Nexus with ICS. It was available on older version of android.

Currently NOT able to with ICS

Hi guys,
I've just written an app to combat this exact annoyance with ICS. I hadn't found a solution I liked after being on ICS with my Sensation for a few weeks, so I decided to write an app myself.
Currently looking for beta testers. Head on over to my thread in the Sensation area if you're interested in helping me out and getting a free version of the app to use.

[Q] Friend stream facebook notifications

Hello,
I would like to ask if there is a way to enable the notifications tab in the Friend stream on Wildfire? I saw on htc site in the how tos section that the Friend stream does have the notifications tab (the Bell icon), but I don't have it on my Wildfire. Thus I'm curious if there is a way to somehow enable it?
Thank you very much in advance.
Hi, i was looking for that too but so far i didnt find the answer i guess this option is available on new fs so for now on i advice to check e-mail notification @fb site then when something is goin on @fb u will get e-mail push notification.

Ok thanks for the confirmation - now at least I know that I didn't break anything ;-)
Anyone have a solution to this? I am hoping for this too!
It does appear friend stream has been updated in newer phones. I bet/hope roms (I use Magnolia 1.3.2) will bake this newer app into the framework. It will make it very easy!

[Q] Change alert tone in calendar

hi everyone,
so i've decided to keep my samsung galaxy s2 after days of frustation in getting used to a touchscreen.
on my old but reliable nokia 6300, i used to use the calendar a lot to remind me of appointments etc. Now i know the s2 also has this feature, but i can't seem to set a loud tone...all i get is a blip, whereas i want a loud siren type of tone.
Can anyone please show me how i can fix this?
PS: I have android 2.3.3 (not rooted, as i don't know how and don't want to void warranty)
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

sorry lufc and thanks for moving the thread.
i've managed to solve this problem by downloading "zedge" from android market which allows you to change the notification tones.
thanks again

[Q] ice cream sandwich quick response

Hi everybody, so day by day, a better and more stable ROM for ics is coming out, however I am wondering if anyone knows if we can use the quick response feature through google voice instead of the stock messaging app. also, are we allowed to change custom messages without someone calling us?
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using xda premium
I'm definitely looking to use Google Voice for the Quick Responses too...I don't pay for texting, that's the whole point of GV! I was hoping Google would've built that in.
Any ideas?

[Q] ** Really Need Some Expert Help- PLEASE **

I hope someone can suggest some ideas. I've been trying for months to get the alarm notifications to work on either/both my Verizon S3 and my 2012 Nexus 7. I've spent hours and hours for month after month looking at the forums, and have not been able to fix it- I really, really would like to get this to work!
The problem is, I never get alarm reminders for either:
- time to leave/traffic alerts when I have upcoming appointments
- reminders based on location
- reminders based on time
I do not get notifications through either Google Search/Now nor through Google Keep.
I've tried everything I know of in the book- I need an expert to please help me get this working!!! Either I'm doing something really stupid and missing something, I have some setting(s) wrong, or Google Now is somehow broken for me. Sorry for the frustration...
I'm willing to start at the basics (in case I missed something) all the way to the complex. I really could use some advise on getting the alarms to work on Google Now notifications...
I'm running a Verizon S3, with Android 4.1.2 and recently I rooted the phone (the notifications have not worked since before nor after the rooting- I did it for other reasons). I also have rooted my 2012 Nexus 7, with Android 4.3.
IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE A GOOD CHALLENGE... PLEASE HELP!!!

Samsung S phone or Google phone app port to block SPAM calls

Hello folks,
For few month now, I get random calls where there is only 2 to 3 number difference between my phone number and the caller number. I usually do not answer and I turned off my voicemail as well. If I answer the phone, the line cuts off right away.
I used to use Hiya app but it has lost the edge that it had in the past.
I came across an article from The Verge (https://www.theverge.com/2018/3/6/1...op-block-robocalls-robots-scam-iphone-android) that Google's phone app and Samsung's S phone app has in built spam call blocker. I knew of Google's app but not Samsung's.
I am running Optimized Lineage OS 15.1 on my Galaxy S4 Play Edition. Any possibility that either of the above mentioned apps have been ported?
Anybody else getting similar calls and found a solution?
Thanks in advance.
