(Q) Note taking/handwriting app... - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Anyone knows any good note taking app that has handwriting too, for use with the Prime and a Jot Pro stylus? Especially if the app allows me to rest my palm/hands I'm the screen without registering that touch....can't exactly write for an hour with my hands suspended....
Thank you!

I thought, there is SuperNote pre installed?

Is supernote good though? Can I have my hands on the screen?

Writepad is the best I found. Has palm rejection.

Super note is the best! I have tried a bunch others and this wins

Get a Jot stylus by Adonit and its even more cool...

So does SuperNote allow for palm rejection? or no...

^^^I don't think it does....but idk, I'm still waiting on my Prime so maybe someone who has their Prime and a Jot can mess around with some note taking apps for us?

Here's the note taking apps I have tried so far on the Transformer Prime:
SuperNote does not have palm detection/rejection.
Writepad Stylus does have palm detection, and you can adjust the setting. In landscape mode, it provides a palm rest area on the side of the writing area.
Antipaper Notes does not have palm detection/rejection.

Than you ^^^
So which would you recommend as the better note taking app? (hand rejection aside)....because I could wear gloves which would cancel out the need for palm detection/rejection....

Now that my Jot is here (an my tablet is not), I did a little more looking and Quill looks good. I can't test yet, but it does palm rejection. I think that'll be the first I try if SuperNote doesn't work out.

Just got a Jot Pro, and tested it with Quill. Both are fantastic on the Prime! The Jot Pro is smooth and precise, best stylus I've tried for writing (compared to iFaraday, Dagi, Acase).
And the Quill app is equally smooth. I like the page resizing, and the tag feature. Certainly worth the $1 !

^^^ thanks guys, I'm still waiting for my tablet....but thanks to you I won't have to waste time checking out all note taking apps...my Jot Pro is just sitting here without use...

i got a targus stylus/pen combo, and its fantastic!!! Much better then the bamboo.
So npw that theres more primes out there, is everyone sticking to supernote? Or can recommend some others aside then what already mentioned?

I'm looking for something like this for my prime;

[Q] Any suggestion for handwriting notes?

I just bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Liked it so far...but couldn't find any good application that can replace my paper notebook. I am looking for application such as Bamboo Paper, Ghostwriter, Upad that are available on iPad. I was using it, but decided to give Honeycomb a try. Lack of such application could be deal breaker for me...I also liked to use Displaylink on ipad2 but i guess I'm out of luck in this case.
If I can't find a good note taking app by using a stylus to replace my paper, I guess I have to return to iPad! Any suggestions?
FreeNote, note everything

Have you tried the pad asp that came stock with touchwiz? Might be just what your looking for.

There's also "Handrite" "Genial Writing" "KakiMemo lite" and a few more when you look at the "uses who viewed this also viewed" area in Android market with your the browser.

zadukala, I am in the same bind as you. I moved from iPad to Galaxy Tab and use uPAD as a religion to jot notes.
I have pretty much tried all the "lite" version of the Handwritten notes but none comes close to the finish/polish of uPAD. Also e-mailed the uPAD guys, hope they will respond with a - coming soon.
Just heard back from uPAD
"Thank you for supporting UPAD.
We are sorry but we do not have a plan for Android yet.
If you have any further question, please contact us again.
We will do our best to offer you the better service.
Thank you so much.
Best Regards,
UPAD."

Hello,
I downloaded and tested quite a lot of these apps from which Freenote seems to be the most responsive for me. I am using the custom Startburst ROM and overclocked my CPU to 1.4GHz and even then there is lag but it is acceptable on freenote.
Antipaper notes does not seem to work well for me at all. Often missing out on letters completely!
I am still on the hunt for a good app so if you do find one please let me know

the wacom bamboo is one of the smallest, about 6mm tip. the rest are mostly 8mm tips. The Alu pen is an 8mm tip, but has a thick comfortable grip that makes writing easier.

Prime a good investment??

So next month I'm going to mwc and need to be blogging and writing word documents, I can't be bothered to take a heavy mbp so I was thinking of buying the transformer ..
Good investment guys? Also is it as nice to hold as the ipad is?
Thanks

As nice to hold? Go to a store and try... How can we decide how it holds for you?!
And no, not a good investment in the sense that it'll prolly decrease in value within months... But yeah, it's still a great tablet and combined with the dock suitable for the things you want just fine. Dunno about how suitable it is for extensive working like that.
Awesome tablet bro but would never call a newly released gadget a good investment, cash wise that is ;#)
Yeah bad wording on my behalf.. I've ordered one anyway! Only reason I asked about hololding was the old transformer had sharp edges

No, terrible investment.
But great toy =)
Picked one up saturday myself. No complaints so far. FYI Office Depot has some Docks / Keyboards in stock, if you consider picking one up. Let us know what series you got and if there are any issues..

It is definitely a good investment as long as you get the keyboard. This is the main feature, in my opinion, that puts the Prime ahead of any other tablet out there (including the iPad). The SwiftKey X keyboard is great when the keyboard dock is not attached, however there a few bugs with SwiftKey and some Android apps out there (Polaris Office is virtually unusable when using SwiftKey X to as your keyboard).
I had the Prime for a week and a half before I could finally find the keyboard dock and I can say it is truly a great experience with the dock. Even without the dock the thing is amazing but the full sized keyboard, gesture enabled track pad, USB port, extra battery and SD card slot really turn the tablet into a true 'laptop' like experience. The keyboard and track pad are very responsive as well, which was something I was worried about as I have used cheap netbooks/laptops before where the track pads were terrible and the keyboards had a noticeable lag. I have had a few random reboots which would be my only complaint, so if you play games or are writing a long document be sure to save often just in case.
As far as the thing dropping in price after a few months, I do not think this is going to happen. ASUS has stated that the Prime is going to be sold along side the TF701 and the 701 is going to be marketed as the step up model. If you look at the original Transformer that was launched 10 months ago, it is still being sold for 450 bucks (for the 32GB version). Sure, over time the Prime will drop in price but I don't think that is going to be anytime soon.
Yeah a TFP + dock + mouse = great for blogging, assuming you'll be blogging directly onto the website.
As for word documents, you may have to buy an office suite app. It comes with Polaris Office, which is decent, but I like OfficeSuite Pro, although I don't think either has a spell checker...
I think my galaxy note and transformer prime will do me fine its coming tomorrow!

That's pretty much the configuration i want. gNote + Asus Prime w/ keyboard.
Let us know how it works for you. I have the Note already, waiting for the Prime to deliver in a few days.
Hopefully that combo will convince me to get rid of the Macbook Air
I love my note but also plan to use the prime at work when training staff etc.. Need portability with Internet access and documents it seems perfect!

Notebook style app

anyone got any recommendations for a good notebook app for taking notes in class? I'm looking for the app to mimic using pen/paper as much as possible since I just bought a stylus to use. Preferably, you could save multiple notebooks and just add pages to the notebook as you need more space to write.
Looked at apps like evernote, catch, but they all aren't tailored for hand written notes, mostly typed up notes.
Asus bundled SuperNote seems to fit most your needs. Personally I dislike that software very much as it's a little buggy and ugly, but I'm forced to use it as it seems to be the only option.
Quill
try Quill
http://code.google.com/p/android-quill/ or look in market
AntiPaper and WritePad Stylus also get mentioned a lot by wielders of styli.
SuperNote seems to be much more feature-rich to me, though--but I'm not inclined to get used to it since it's toast if I ever switch to another device.
I'm waiting patiently for ink support in MS OneNote to appear.
LectureNotes is an excellent note-taking app for use with a stylus. The developer is very active in adding and fine-tuning features based on user feedback.
Antipaper Notes and Writepad Stylus are also worth trying out.
thanks guys! was looking a bit at writepad stylus and quill. leaning more towards writepad at the moment. gonna check out lecturenotes as well.
anyone using pen supremacy? how is that?
I just bought quill seems nice enough.
Anyone know of a good stylus to purchase? does any cheap stylus work?

i really liked the Phatpad on my asus transformer when they had a free beta build. now they charge 5 bucks and i hear it still has a few bugs, but it had more features than supernote. i am pretty sure it would allow you to write with stylus and it would convert to text fairly accurately.

Using tablet in class

Well, I just got myself an OTG cable for my Nexus 7. It's currently connected to a keyboard and I'm actually typing on it right now.
Since I just got my tablet, I'm not sure if I want a laptop. I have a desktop at home if I wanted to do homework, but in class I could bring my tablet.
Do you think it's silly to take notes in class with a tablet/keyboard combo? I'll probably use Supernotes too, unless there is a better note taking app.
Is it even practical either?

It's all a matter of personal preference personally I use a netbook for taking notes in class, but several people I know and my friends who have tablets use a a tablet and keyboard combination for taking notes (Ranging from ASUS Transformer to Ipad with bluetooth dock keyboard cover) and it works great for them. If you want to go light and the tablet/keyboard combo works for you I say go for it. Also check out Evernote, in my opinion the best mobile note taking app out there right now, plus it easily syncs with your Evernote notes on your desktop, on pretty much any OS and you can also edit your notes easily and conveniently from the web.

I've been using my ICS tablet for quite some time at school now... works great. All I miss is a fysical keyboard. Even use Aldiko to read my schoolbooks...

Well I miss the physical keybord too, but my TF101 is wonderful for slides consulting, I waste much less paper since I own it.

Catch is good but I feel as if Evernote is more polished, less buggy, and works better cross platform. Plus for me while the interface felt nice, things didn't necessarily seem as intuitive as they could have been, nerveless it is still a good alternative to Evernote. I also use AK Notepad by the people who make Catch for real simple quick and dirty note takings (Have been using that since early on with my Droid 1).
Over here in my school its compulsory for everyone to have a *cough* iPad *cough* (because its simple to use... really??), yeah I prefer it to pen and paper. Much faster and I get more customisation choices, screw different coloured pens... they're all on Google docs and I share them with everyone plus they don't get lost. Love it.
