Open /etc/gps.conf in a text editor in root explorer and modify it to look like this.
NTP_SERVER=0.us.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.us.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.us.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.us.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_1=http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_2=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_3=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
Save it and reboot, your gps should lock within a minute now, even on 3g!

This does help when gaining a lock. It cuts down a few seconds for me when my GPS radio decides to work. Luckily the last attempt at Eclipse 2.0.2 worked so far.
Beautiful, thanks man. I'm looking through wi-fi files to find a fix for the pesky constant disconnecting then reconnecting bug on 2.0.2.

Wow thanks for this. It's noticeably faster to me, I don't think it's just in my head

I'm not sure if anyone has encountered this but I'm getting force closes whenever I try to stream Google Music on 3g. It works great on wifi. I have uninstalled/reinstalled, fixed permissions, cleared cache, the works - to no avail.
I had read elsewhere that the problem lied in allowing ad blocking (using an app to block ads). I was using JRummy's Android Overclock to block ads and do some tweaks on the build.prop file so I made sure to enable ads, then I uninstalled the app. Too bad the problem still occurs.
I'm trying to see if the issue lies on the build.prop file. Does anyone have a clean, unaltered build.prop file for 2.3.3 they can share with me? I would love to see if some of the tweaks I made caused the problem.
Thanks in advance!
-Javier
I am at work right now and just moved the clean 2.3.3 from my dropbox but when I get home tonight I can bring up both and let you know. As an FYI I have no issues streaming on my non-root device but have not tried rooting since the latest update. I usually give stock about 3 months before I ****-can it.
Just looked around using log me in and I might not have that one anymore. Gotta do some digging but I will see what I can get for you.
Here is a fresh never upgraded 2.3.3 file from a device that has always been 100% stock
Thanks for the file! I just tried it and I still get the force close on google music. HOWEVER, i couldn't stream amazon music, either, and now it works.
One last favor : I'm hoping you have a stock HOSTS file (in the ../system/etc folder). If so, what values do you have? I have 4 different lines in there. If you have less, can you send me that file or post the values? I think that is the file where the ad blocker holds the values to block.
Thanks again. I really appreciate it.
this is one of the reasons that i am going to flash back to froyo.
debloated v6 supercharge froyo >>>>> debloated v6 supercharged gingerbread
i kept my wife's x2 at rooted froyo. i was antsy and flashed p3's gingerbread. i now have android version envy. newer is not always better.
I have to sorta agree with you. Gingerbread didn't seem like such an improvement
BTW, here are the values I have in my HOSTS file:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
0.0.0.0 local
Are these the values that stock gingerbread (or froyo for that matter) have in this file?
Can anyone confirm?
Thanks
UPDATE: I kinda bricked my phone doing some stupid stuff so I had to SBF.
Now that I'm back to normal, I checked my HOSTS file and all it should have in it is the first line:
127.0.0.1 localhost
Now my google music works flawlessly.
If anyone has any issues with their gmusic not streaming on 3g, make sure to go to this hosts file and make sure that's all you have in there.
Hope it helps someone out there.

I'm using adfree with a hosts file about 650k with no problems streaming. I don't think it is related to adblocking, but could be due to bad addressing in the hosts file.
Im on a mission to get pandora working on my X2....
I have tried it on stock, eclipse 2.0.1 and 2.0.2...Liberty is next. I have tried it as a system app and regular install as well. I have tried older versions, hacked versions and the current version.
I thought it may have been due to the poor service I get but I just spent that last hour or so on my OG Droid and was considering never leaving it because it worked great (when not using the widget). I tried both widget and non widget on the above roms with all the different app tries.
So If you know of a tip, trick or setup that works for you with it so it doesnt consistantly skip/cut out or take 1-2 min or more to switch to a song when pressing next song button then please share in your sucess.
Oh and I have to use 3G...hmmmm also note that it didnt work worth a damn on my X2 in town with perfect service or through wifi.
Thanks!!!
Im on Liberty & have had no problems with pandora. Might give it a try.

Nothing special done just running as normal on liberty? Which version of pandora?

No nothing special, v1.5.14 but only because its a version with a transparent widget & haven't updated to v1.5.15 yet. Runs fine tho
I had no luck with Eclipse but I loaded Liberty last night and was playing it in my basement which is remarkable considering I couldnt use it in town with full signal on Eclipse.
Just adding to the conversation, I also get some of the problems you have. Sometimes, not all the times, Pandora takes a long time to load a song. I get good reception on Verizon but sometimes I'm just stuck sitting there waiting for the next song for a few minutes. I dont notice any skips though. My girlfriend has the same phone running the same stuff I am and hers sometimes seems worse than mine. We are both running Eclipse 1.3 with some scripts. I havent really tried Pandora on the stock ROM though.
My wife's X2 has a terrible time playing Pandora. It starts playing and just stops. It constantly does this, no matter what. Its a completely stock phone. She won't let me root it because her OG Droid got quirky as all get-out after being rooted, so shes a bit jaded...
I use pandora every day at work with no issues on eclipse 1.3 its actually playing right now as I type this.

I am starting to think it's just quirky. I have had it working pretty good so far on liberty. 30 seconds new song load on avg. It was quick on my of OG DROID though so I really think its the x2

I've had no problems with Pandora on stock, liberty, or eclipse. The one time I had an issue with Pandora, which was when I first got my DX2 - I fixed it by going into settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Pandora -> Clear Cache / Clear Data
After doing that and restarting the application, the first run took a tiny bit longer than all other subsequent runs but I no longer had any stuttering or freezing in the application.
Before I tried the above, I simply tried reinstalling the application and that did not seem to fix the issue at all. I don't know if it will fix your issue but it's probably worth a try.

Tried all that. Seems to be working good on liberty. Every once in a while if I hit next or I hate the song it might take as long as a min or two to get to the new one. No skipping/cutting out now and song to song if I let it run through the song is pretty much instant

I noticed setting the option in pandora to keep the screen on seems to have eliminated all of the skips for me.

Hey is there a google maps lockup fix? Using EH03 SC with the latest KGB kernel....
is this still an EH03 bug then?
Your sig states that you're using the kgb 11/27 kernel. For me, this bug went away for geewiz kernels 2.4.1 (released 12/29) or later. Have you tried a more recent kernel?
I have the same problem with the latest CM7 Kang 7.2 Build and EDO5. I get FC with Google Maps and Navigation
Older Gmaps
I installed an older Gmaps that I had backed in my SD card from October 2011 and now my GPS locks on right away and doesn't freeze anymore. I have tested it MANY times and it has no signs of lockup at all. Try it out and see if it works for you. This Gmaps is version 5.8. I guess updates aren't always better.
Update... GPS has been working flawlessly, earlier today I got a lock in my basement!
Uninstall Google Maps through the Market or in Applications, (I used Root Explorer and deleted the APK in "system/app") then reboot and install the older Gmaps from down below and you're good to go.
Also, make sure you don't have your Maps set to auto update in the Market.
I have searched trying to find who posted this next bit of info and I can't seem to find them. I copied this from someone on XDA and it seems to help GPS lock a little faster... Thanks whomever you are!
MOD] Better GPS EC01
For those of us that are not getting better gps on EC01 or various Rom's like me this fix is for you.
Instructions: With Root Explorer (or similar app) go to /etc/gps.conf
In Root Explorer long press on the file and select open in text editor
Change the first line from: NTP_SERVER=north-america.pool.ntp.org to NTP_SERVER=us.pool.ntp.org
Then Download GPS aids from the market and run that for even better results
Save changes and reboot

Ha! Yeah, I tried all kinds of things trying to cure the problem, ROM's, kernels, radio's... Didn't think it would be so simple but it's always the last thing you try cause why would you keep looking once you already found the answer, right?
I've been on these alphas for a while now, with great joy but sad battery life. I noticed in BetterBatteryStats that my phone is awake 100% of the time, and found "bluesleep" running 97% of the time under kernel wakelocks.
I remembered reading about it in the Neutrino thread, where they found a fix ->link<-
and gave it a shot at copying those same files, though taken from a cm7 ROM. But it worked! No more bluesleep, and the phone sleeps as it's supposed to.
I started out with the prime suspects: hciconfig, hcitool, -and copied them in order, with intermittent reboots, to see which one would solve the problem. But it didn't work until I added hcidump. So that might actually be the only one needed...
I'll attach them all anyway, if anyone else wants to try.
BTW, this is supposedly related to Bluetooth, which I never use, so I wouldn't know if it breaks anything.

Hello, excuse me for my english but I have a question, it's sure I have to copy the unzipped files to /system/xbin and set permissions xxx x-x x-x and not /system/bin ?

Yes you need to copy them to /system/xbin and set the permissions as stated above. I copied only 3 files: hciconfig, hcidump, and hcitool. After I set the permissions I rebooted that my phone calls would drop or get cut off when my screen blanked. To fix it I tried deleting hcitool and rebooted. This fixed the phone call issue but I haven't figured out if my battery life has improved.
Try that and repost with your results.

I think you must copy the files in system/bin, not system/xbin !

Excuse me, but I speak English poorly. I copied the 3 files in system / bin instead of system / xbin and my battery lasts longer. At rest, I -55 mA instead of -90 mA. And I have no problem with black screen during a call.
In the bin directory, there are 3 files in the file bluesleep.zip!

Thank you...that is good to know as I think there is still debate on where to put the files.
Hi,
After limited success with the custom GB roms, I've taken the plunge and installed the official Korean 407 rom. So far no problems, other than the occasional random reboot and the clock drift. Can live with the odd reboot as long as it's rare, and clocksync looks after the time.
Using Navigation though, I am finding that GPS drops out sometimes, and only by exiting and restarting Navigation does it pick it up (instantly). Anybody else had this? Any fixes floating around that might help?
Thanks in advance

I had issues with GPS on 407, especially getting it to start. I found if I toggled Bluetooth it seemed to sort out the connection, but it was flakey. The Bluetooth was unreliable too, as well as wifi and 3g - which is why I am now on CM7 - which is way, way better than stock - I was on 407 for over a month and I never much liked the experience!
CM7 is not perfect, the battery takes a bashing but it is way more reliable. If you go to cm7 then you'll need to edit the GPS.conf file in the /system/etc folder to put in a server in a more appropriate location, unless you are in Korea!

Disregard not sure what the heck I was thinking......
Well battery life is what I'm really looking for here, otherwise I'd stick with 354. Overall I do like the ROM though, nice and snappy. Need to be able to rely on Maps and Nav though.
