[Q] Remove Car Dock Audio Out? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So this is going to be a switch; my Fascinate is running CM7, the 11/16 nightly release with the 2.6.35.14 kernel. I have the Car Dock, which I plug in and the audio out works through the dock as advertised.
The thing is, I don't want it to! I use Vlingo InCar for hands-free directions, texting, et al, and when it's in the dock I have to run it out to my car stereo in order to hear any audio from my phone. The problem is once you open InCar, all other sounds are silenced, so I can't listen to music or podcasts, just Vlingo if I use it. So I need to find a way to make the audio come out through the speakerphone so I can still listen to the radio and occasionally say "Hey Vlingo!" when necessary.
Does anybody have ideas on how to do so?

At this point you'd have to recompile the kernel with the dock code stripped out. I may add a toggle in the future (for cm9, not working on cm7 any more).

Anyone have a car dock and on superclean 2.x?

I need verification that audio out does, or does not work with the included music player. I am getting conflicting reports that the tw music player may be needed.
Tried it on stock music player, video and pandora.
No audio comes out on external speakers.
Also noticed there is no option in settings for "dock settings"
which I've seen before in previous versions.
I haven't tried super clean 2.7, but I remember in one of the previous versions, the modified Samsung Car dock has a button that resembled the audio out button in the TW music app. The button in the car dock app didn't do anything. I was able to get audio out using the TW music player.
I can re-test this if you want - just let me know which specific super clean version and I'll give it a go. I'll have to do some reading on 2.7 though... looks like it uses a newer CWM? I'm not on that yet.

I thought at first that speaker button on music app is for speaker mute.
Thanks for info, I re-tested and confirming that audio works on external speaker.
I'm on 2.7v.
There are to version of Car Dock out there
The original version only works with Samsung Music Player and a modified version works with ASOP music player.
With the first one, you have the speaker button the cardock to enable and disable the external sound. You have the same button on Samsung Music Player
With the modified version, you only have it on the cardock. The cardock has to be on the foreground for that sound to work. If you exit it, it stop working. If you launch an app infront of it, it stop working.
I just use the Samsung music player for the audio out button...I honestly think it's better. However, before that, I was using Power Amp Pro. It would work by starting PowerAmp, pressing home to go to the car dock app, then click the aux out button. From there, you can long press home and select your music app and the audio will still play through the speakers.
there are only two ways to get the audio out of the car dock. trhe sammy car dock has the blue mute button. if you want to use another car dock you have to use the sammy music player. in the now playing screen there is a phone button, push it.
Got a car dock. Audio out works once you toggle the speaker icon. (Initially, I thought it was "mute", as have others.)
Success with other apps relates directly to car dock mode, but can work. For example, launching Pandora will play through phone's speaker, but once car dock is brought forward, it will play through audio out. You can then use notification bar to bring Pandora forward again so you can interact with it. Other apps are similarly squirrely, but can also work.
Forgot to mention: currently on SC2.8.

[Q] CM7 headset/bluetooth routing, headset controls and default music app

I finally bit the bullet and moved into world of CM7/MIUI, currently running CM7 nightly build 80 with Glitch v11 LL. There's three separate problems I'm running into.
First in any of the Froyo ROMS Bluetooth audio always takes priority regardless of whether or not a headset is plugged in. With CM7 the headset always gets priority.
Here's the scenario; I've got my headphones in listening to some tunes, get in my car turn on my bluetooth car adaptor. The adaptor connects automatically but audio continues to play through the headphones. The only way I can get it to play via bluetooth is to physically unplug them. That of course pauses the music, really annoying. With all the Froyo ROMS I've run the audio switches to bluetooth automatically, no need to reach into my pocket to unplug the headphones.
Second I just got a new pair of buds with an inline mic and three button controls. I never had a chance to try them on a Froyo ROM but I've heard that at least the Play/Pause button is supposed to work and I've seen some posts on here that indicate CM7 even supports the volume buttons but so far no luck with any of them.
Finally how in the world can I specify a default music player? I generally use 3(Cubed), but in CM7 the lock screen controls as well as bluetooth controls only work for the default player. So if I'm in the car and hit next track on my bluetooth adaptor the phone starts playing two tracks at once! Fun times I tell you fun times.
Other than that I have to say CM7 kicks so much ass, this phone has never been smoother nor has the GPS ever worked this well. If anyone has any suggestions for these rather nagging troubles I'd be forever grateful!
Bumping out of ever dwindling hope...

[Q] How to use voice control in the car without yelling?

I have my Galaxy Nexus mounted while I drive so that I can use the GPS. When I try to use voice controls on the freeway (ambient car noise is louder), I have to lean really close to the phone and yell for it to pick anything up.
Is it possible to use the heaphones/mic that came with the GNex so that sound comes out of the phone's main speakers (not the headphones), but it uses the mic on the headphones?
Might there be another free/cheap solution that I haven't thought of?

Car Dock w/ CM7 Based Roms

I use my MotoCardock Alot and find issues with CM7 Based Rom (Mainly Use Neutrino) .
Audio Output in calls/media player needs the phone redocking all the time to use the usb audio output and not the Atrixspeaker. CM9 Seems to do the same but only needs a redock if a call comes in while playing music. Anyone incountered this problem???
I switched on the Dock Insertion sound and when i orginally dock it it works fine and the notification works on my car speakers.
I am seeing the same thing. I was running stock or blur based for a while and am now running CM7.2. The CM7 car dock app will not play anything out the USB/wired audio output. The Car Dock Ultra will play out the wired output upon insertion, but a call hangup does not reset the audio to wired from bluetooth as you noted, it goes to the phone speaker.
If you use bluetooth (why?) for audio playback, it does return to the last audio playing.
It is annoying.

Why? Because some of us don't have aux inputs on our car radios, so we use hands-free Bluetooth devices with an FM transmitter to play music from the Atrix over an FM channel. Works just fine.

Auto-switch from Bluetooth media audio to car dock?

I'm running the current CM10.1 nightlies on my old Fascinate.
I use a Plantronics Bluetooth headset that supports various profiles - represented in the JB 4.2.2 Bluetooth configuration as selectable options for "phone audio" and "media audio".
I usually want the headset configured for both, but when I put the phone in my car dock, I want the media audio redirected to the dock's audio output (via USB).
If I turn off the headset, the audio is configured to route through the dock properly and automatically... But I still wish to use the headset for phone audio when the phone is docked. If I manually configure the headset settings for only phone audio, that works too - but what a hassle going in and out of my Bluetooth configuration before and after each docking operation .
Any ideas on a way to automate this? Anyone know of a slick app that can handle this?

So it seems that within a day of my asking the question, djp952 goes and adds a patch to GeeWiz 4.3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39032883 to do exactly this. Amazing!
